Abstract
Four novel (64)Cu complexes ([(64)Cu(thp)(4)](+) (1), [(64)Cu(TPA)(4)](+) (2), [HC(CO(2))(pz(Me2))(2) (64)Cu(thp)(2)] (3) and [HC(CO(2))(tz)(2) (64)Cu(thp)(2)] (4), [where thp is tris(hydroxymethyl)phosphine, TPA is 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane, pz(Me2) is 3,5-dimethylpyrazole and tz is 1,2,4-triazole] were successfully synthesized and characterized. The complexes were produced in high radiochemical purity and yield (more than 98%) without the need for further purification. Their logP values and serum stabilities were measured and in vitro behavior was observed in cultured EMT-6 cells. The logP values (+/- standard deviation) obtained were -2.26 +/- 0.04 (1), 0.01 +/- 0.01 (2), -1.24 +/- 0.03 (3) and -2.06 +/- 0.03 (4). Complex 3 demonstrated the highest serum stability, with approximately 33% of the complex still intact after 1-h incubation. Complex 2 showed a rapid cell-association with EMT-6 cells, with more than 8.5% association at 2 h. This association was significantly higher (P < 0.001) than for the other three compounds after a 2-h incubation (1, 1.21%; 3, 0.63%; 4, 2.75%). Biodistribution and small-animal positron emission tomography/computed tomography was undertaken with 1 in mice bearing EMT-6 tumors. EMT-6 tumor uptake was high at 1 h (7.71 +/- 2.17 %ID/g) and decreased slowly over 24 h (4 h, 4.90 +/- 0.78 %ID/g; 24 h, 3.74 +/- 0.73 %ID/g). The PET/CT images show that the EMT-6 tumors can be visualized at all time points. In this proof-of-concept study, we have successfully synthesized and characterized a novel series of versatile water-soluble Cu(I) complexes containing monophosphine ligands. We also report the use of 1 as a building block for new radiopharmaceuticals, perhaps the first time such a method has been used in the production of copper radiopharmaceuticals.

Abstract
trans-[Ru(PTA)4Cl2] (trans-1), (PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricyclo[3.3.1.13,7]decane) has been isolated and structurally characterized by X-ray crystallography. The structure reveals ruthenium in a slightly distorted-octahedral environment bound to two axial chlorides and four equatorial PTA ligands. In organic solvents, trans-1 undergoes a relatively clean isomerization to cis-1. In aqueous environments, trans-1 undergoes a more complicated transformation involving isomerization, protonation, and ligand substitution affording cis-1 and a series of structurally related molecules. From these results, we conclude that the synthesis of [Ru(PTA)4Cl2] (1) affords trans-1, not cis-1, as earlier reports suggest. The water-soluble hydride cis-[Ru(PTA)4H2] (2) has also been synthesized from the reaction of trans-[Ru(PTA)4Cl2] with excess sodium formate. Compound 2 is stable in deoxygenated water and undergoes H/D exchange with D2O (t1/2 approximately equal to 120 min, at 25 degrees C). The solid-state structures of both trans-1 and 2 are described.

Abstract
The new water-soluble ligand dmPTA(OSO(2)CF(3))(2) (1) (dmPTA = N,N'-dimethyl-1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) has been synthesized by reaction of PTA with MeOSO(2)CF(3) in acetone (PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphatricycle[3.3.1.1(3,7)]decane). The reaction of 1 with KOH gave rise to the new water-soluble ligand dmoPTA (3) (dmoPTA = 3,7-dimethyl-1,3,7-triaza-5-phosphabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane) by elimination of the -CH(2)- group located between both NCH(3) units. Compound dmPTA(BF(4))(2) (2) and complex [RuClCp(HdmoPTA)(PPh(3))](OSO(2)CF(3)) (4) have also been synthesized, while compounds HdmoPTA(BF(4)) (3a) and [RuClCp(dmPTA)(PPh(3))](OSO(2)CF(3)) (5) were characterized but not isolated. The new ligands and the complex have been fully characterized by NMR, IR, elemental analysis, and X-ray crystal structure determination (ligand 1 and complex 4). The synthetic processes for 3 and 4 were studied.

Abstract
The structures of two manganese(II) complexes of 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane (PTA) reveal the first transition-metal complexes of PTA in which the metal preferentially coordinates to a nitrogen and not the phosphorus of PTA. The coordination environment about the manganese was probed using X-ray crystallography (solid state) and EXAFS spectroscopy (solution).

Abstract
The new water-soluble ruthenium(II) chiral complexes [RuCpX(L)(L')](n+) (X = Cl, I. L = PPh3; L' = PTA, mPTA; L = L' = PTA, mPTA) (PTA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane; mPTA = N-methyl-1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) have been synthesized and characterized by NMR and IR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The salt mPTA(OSO2CF3) was also prepared and fully characterized by spectroscopic techniques. X-ray crystal structures of [RuClCp(PPh3)(PTA)] (2), [RuCpI(PPh3)(PTA)] (3), and [RuCpI(mPTA)(PPh3)](OSO2CF3) (9) have been determined. The binding properties toward DNA of the new hydrosoluble complexes have been studied using the mobility shift assay. The ruthenium chloride complexes interact with DNA depending on the hydrosoluble phosphine bonded to the metal, while the corresponding compounds with iodide, [RuCpI(PTA)2] (1), [RuCpI(PPh3)(PTA)] (3), [RuCpI(mPTA)2](OSO2CF3)2 (6), and [RuCpI(mPTA)(PPh3)](OSO2CF3) (9), do not bind to DNA.

Abstract
Attachment of a proton sponge to a phosphine ligand renders neutral complexes of the ligand highly amenable to analysis by electrospray ionisation mass spectrometry (ESI-MS). The ligand 1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthyldiphenylphosphine (3) is extremely efficient and highly selective in forming exclusively [M + H]+ ions, which may be detected at very low concentration. Ionisation efficiency of 3 in the presence of H+ approached 100%. The bis-substituted ligand bis{1,8-bis(dimethylamino)naphthyl}phenylphosphine (4) was also prepared and characterised, as were Fe(CO)4- (5c), Mn(eta5-C5H4Me)(CO)2- (6) and W(CO)5- (7) complexes of 3. Compounds 3, 3.HBr.EtOH, 4 and 5c were all structurally characterised.

Abstract
Reactions of Pd3(OAc)6 with lithium salts of mononegative bidentate N,N-ligands, L, of various types, such as formamidinates, benzamidinates, triazinates, and guanidinates, were investigated in a search for ways to obtain Pd2(4+) compounds that could serve as precursors to paddlewheel complexes with a metal-metal bond and a Pd2(5+) core. It was found that the reactions are complex and that either square planar mononuclear or dinuclear species may be formed depending on the reaction conditions or the method of isolation. For Pd2L4 compounds, alpha and beta isomers were sometimes obtainable. In the alpha isomer, all N,N-ligands serve as bridges, whereas in the beta isomer, two ligands bridge the Pd2(4+) unit and each of the other two chelate to a metal atom. Electrochemistry shows that the paddlewheel compounds Pd2(TolNC(H)NTol)4, Pd2(PhNC(Ph)NPh)4, and Pd2(PhNC(Ph)NPh)3(OAc) and the orthometalated complex cis-Pd2[eta2-C6H4NC(Ph)N(H)Ph]2(mu-OAc)2 have reversible oxidation waves between 0.70 and 0.92 V vs Ag/AgCl, which makes them good candidates for chemical oxidation.
