Abstract
The reduction of (n Bu3 P)AgCl with LiBH(s Bu)3 in toluene gives the metalloid silver cluster Ag64 (Pn Bu3 )16 Cl6 (1) as dark red, temperature- and light-sensitive single crystals in high yield. 1 is the largest structurally characterized metalloid silver cluster exhibiting chlorine and phosphine substituents only. The silver atoms in 1 show an overall brick-shape arrangement, where structural resemblance to the close-packed fcc and hcp structures is realized. Within 1 a 58 electron closed shell system is present. The light sensitivity renders 1 as a model compound for the primary seeds of the photo process, whereby this sensitivity, together with the high-yield synthesis show that 1 is a perfect starting compound for further investigations like silver-plating processes.

Abstract
RGa {R=HC[C(Me)N(2,6-iPr2C6H3)]2} reacts with Sb(NMe2)3 with insertion into the Sb-N bond and elimination of RGa(NMe2)2 (2), yielding the Ga-substituted distibene R(Me2N)GaSb=SbGa(NMe2 )R (1). Thermolysis of 1 proceeded with elimination of RGa and 2 and subsequent formation of the bicyclo[1.1.0]butane analogue [R(Me2N)Ga]2Sb4 (3).

Abstract
The novel neutral gallium cluster compounds [Ga18R*8] (1) and [Ga22R*8] (2) are obtained by warming up a metastable solution of gallium(I) bromide in THF/C6H5CH3 after addition of equimolar amounts of supersilyl sodium NaR* from -78 degrees C to room temperature (R* = SitBu3 = supersilyl). From X-ray structure analyses, the observed arrangements of the 18 and 22 Ga atoms in 1 and 2, respectively, are comparable with an 18 atom section of the beta-Ga modification, or show at least some kind of relationship to a 22 atom section of the Ga-III modification. This allows a description of both the clusters as metalloid. The topology of the atoms in 2 is also well explained by the Wade-Mingos rules as an eightfold capped closo-Ga14 cluster, whereby the Ga atoms of Ga14 occupy the center and the corners of a cuboctahedron with one Ga3 face replaced by a Ga4 face. Some concepts are presented about the formation mechanism, the cluster growth, and the metalloid character of the two Ga cluster compounds.
