Abstract
Regioselective halogenation of six-membered N-heteroarenes is crucial for precise functional derivatization. We present a meta-selective halogenation method for pyridines, quinolines, and isoquinolines via electrophilic halogen radical addition utilizing an N-benzyl activation strategy. This method achieves C3- and C5-dihalogenation in pyridines, C3- and C6-dihalogenation in quinolines, and C3-monohalogenation in isoquinolines. The feasibility and potential applications of this method were validated through scale-up reactions and the bromination of quinoline derivatives with biomolecular fragments.

Abstract
A highly selective and general photoinduced C-Cl borylation protocol that employs [Ni(IMes)2] (IMes = 1,3-dimesitylimidazoline-2-ylidene) for the radical borylation of chloroarenes is reported. This photoinduced system operates with visible light (400 nm) and achieves borylation of a wide range of chloroarenes with B2pin2 at room temperature in excellent yields and with high selectivity, thereby demonstrating its broad utility and functional group tolerance. Mechanistic investigations suggest that the borylation reactions proceed via a radical process. EPR studies demonstrate that [Ni(IMes)2] undergoes very fast chlorine atom abstraction from aryl chlorides to give [NiI(IMes)2Cl] and aryl radicals. Control experiments indicate that light promotes the reaction of [NiI(IMes)2Cl] with aryl chlorides generating additional aryl radicals and [NiII(IMes)2Cl2]. The aryl radicals react with an anionic sp2-sp3 diborane [B2pin2(OMe)]- formed from B2pin2 and KOMe to yield the corresponding borylation product and the [Bpin(OMe)]•- radical anion, which reduces [NiII(IMes)2Cl2] under irradiation to regenerate [NiI(IMes)2Cl] and [Ni(IMes)2] for the next catalytic cycle.

Abstract
Calix[3]aramide-based cylindrical macrocycles were synthesized by the one-step amide coupling reaction of a monomer containing two meta-alkylaminobenzoic acid units linked by para-phenylene bridges. The major products included a meso-form and an enantiomeric pair, with stereochemistry derived from the direction of the amide bonds and their fixed conformation. Mirror-image ECD, VCD, and CPL spectra were observed in the enantiomeric pair and the absolute structure was determined by comparing measured and calculated ECD and VCD spectra.

Abstract
A simple and efficient access to arylboronates was achieved with methanol-initiated borylation of aryldiazonium salts. Reduction of aryldiazonium ions by single electron transfer from methanol affords aryl radical species, which undergo a subsequent C–B bond formation with bis(pinacolato)diboron. This highly practical borylation process, which can be carried out on the gram-scale, enjoys operational simplicity as well as mild and catalyst-free conditions.

Abstract
Although known for over 90 years, only in the past two decades has the chemistry of diboron(4) compounds been extensively explored. Many interesting structural features and reaction patterns have emerged, and more importantly, these compounds now feature prominently in both metal-catalyzed and metal-free methodologies for the formation of B-C bonds and other processes.

Abstract
The synthesis of arylboronic ester derivatives from aryl chlorides by using aryl(amino)boranes is described. Palladium-catalyzed coupling between aryl chlorides and diisopropylaminoborane leads to the formation of a CB bond under mild conditions. A wide range of functional groups are tolerated, making this method particularly useful for the borylation of functionalized aromatics.

Abstract
The Suzuki-Miyaura reaction has become one of the more useful tools for synthetic organic chemists. Until recently, there did not exist a direct way to make the most important component in the coupling reaction, namely the boronic acid. Current methods to make boronic acids often employ harsh or wasteful reagents to prepare boronic acid derivatives and require additional steps to afford the desired boronic acid. The scope of the previously reported palladium-catalyzed, direct boronic acid synthesis is unveiled, which includes a wide array of synthetically useful aryl electrophiles. It makes use of the newly available second generation Buchwald XPhos preformed palladium catalyst and bis-boronic acid. For ease of isolation and to preserve the often sensitive C-B bond, all boronic acids were readily converted to their more stable trifluoroborate counterparts.

Abstract
The cross-coupling reactions of 1,1,1-trifluoro-2-iodoethane with aryl and heteroaryl boronic acid esters have been successfully achieved. The new protocol allows for a convenient introduction of trifluoroethyl groups into a variety of aryl and heteroaryl moieties under mild conditions.

Abstract
This study describes the application of indolylphosphine ligands with a diphenylphosphino moiety to the palladium-catalyzed borylation of aryl chlorides. The combination of palladium metal precursor with PPh(2)-Andole-phos, which comprises an inexpensive -PPh(2) group, provides highly effective catalysts for the borylation of aryl chlorides. A range of functional groups such as -CN, -NO(2), -CHO, -COMe, -COOMe, and -CF(3) was compatible, and the catalyst loading down to 0.025 mol % of Pd can be achieved. The Pd/PPh(2)-Andole-phos system is able to catalyze both borylation reaction and Suzuki-Miyaura coupling reaction in a one-pot sequential manner for the direct synthesis of biaryl compounds in excellent yields.
