Abstract
Even though tuning electronic effect of chiral ligands has proven to be a promising method for designing efficient catalysts, the potential to achieve highly selective reactions by this strategy remains largely unexplored. Here, we report a palladium-catalyzed enantioselective ring-closing aminoalkylative amination of aminoenynes enabled by rationally tuning the remote electronic property of 1,1'-binaphthol-derived phosphoramidites. With a tailored 6,6'-CN-substituted 1,1'-binaphthol-derived phosphoramidite as a ligand, a broad range of aromatic amines are compatible with this reaction, allowing the efficient synthesis of a series of enantioenriched exocyclic allenylamines bearing saturated N-heterocycles with up to >99% enantiomeric excess. Remarkably, a one-pot aminoalkylative amination/hydroamination process for the rapid synthesis of chiral spirodiamines promoted by this catalytic system is also established. Detailed mechanistic studies provide solid evidence to support that the remote electronic character of these chiral ligands can efficiently tuning the enantioselectivity by altering the length of the allylic C-Pd bond of the key catalytic intermediate.

Abstract
Organic compounds of biological importance often contain multiple stereogenic C-heteroatom functional groups (e.g. amines, alcohols, and ethers). As a result, synthetic methods to access such compounds in a reliable and stereoselective fashion are important. In this feature article, we present a strategy to enable the introduction of multiple C-heteroatom functional groups in a regiodivergent cross-coupling approach through the use of reductive coupling chemistry employing allenamides. Such processes allow for opportunities to access different heteroatom substitution patterns from the same starting materials.

Abstract
As a potential fluorinated synthon, there have been only limited reports on fluorinated allene synthesis and applications due to concerns about their stability. Here, we developed a nickel-catalyzed reductive defluorination of iodo allyl gem-difluorides to afford allenyl monofluorides under mild conditions with good functional group tolerance, which were easily converted to other C-F bond compounds, such as alkyl and alkenyl fluorides. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggested that monofluoroallenes were yielded by β-F elimination of the alkenyl C-Ni intermediates from the oxidative addition of C-I bonds to a nickel(0) catalyst, while zinc regenerates the catalyst and closes the catalytic cycle.

Abstract
A straightforward, user-friendly, efficient protocol for the one pot, ZnI2-catalyzed allenylation of terminal alkynes with pyrrolidine and ketones, toward trisubstituted allenes, is described. Trisubstituted allenes can be obtained under either conventional heating or microwave irradiation conditions, which significantly reduces the reaction time. A sustainable, widely available, and low-cost metal salt catalyst is employed, and the reactions are carried out under solvent-free conditions. Among others, synthetically valuable allenes bearing functionalities such as amide, hydroxyl, or phthalimide can be efficiently prepared. Mechanistic experiments, including kinetic isotope effect measurements and density functional theory (DFT) calculations, suggest a rate-determining [1,5]-hydride transfer during the transformation of the intermediate propargylamine to the final allene.

Abstract
AbstractIn recent decades transition metals have made a substantial contribution to the development of novel synthetic processes, with palladium catalysis being, arguably, at the forefront of this research. The efficiency of Pd-promoted C–C or C–X bond formation along with a variety of other transformations renders this metal an indispensable tool in synthetic organic chemistry. Of particular interest are Pd-catalysed multicomponent cascade reactions as they often allow the creation of complex structures from relatively simple starting materials, mimicking in this sense biochemical processes. Allenes as partners in Pd-promoted cascades involving carbopalladation/nucleophilic substitutions have been extensively studied in recent years. Many tactical variants have been explored showing a high level of efficiency and chemoselectivity with predictable outcomes. This short review is focused on intramolecular processes of this type because they provide access to relatively complex polycyclic products, possessing structural features often found in natural products and related compounds. Various approaches are discussed with the intention to demonstrate their applicability and synthetic potential.1 Introduction2 Intramolecular Palladium-Promoted Cascades of Allenes3 Class I Cyclisations4 Class II Cyclisations5 Class III Cyclisations6 Class IV Cyclisations7 Conclusion

Abstract
The general enantioselective synthesis of axially chiral disubstituted allenes from prochiral starting materials remains a long-standing challenge in organic synthesis. Here, we report an efficient enantio- and chemoselective copper hydride catalyzed semireduction of conjugated enynes to furnish 1,3-disubstituted allenes using water as the proton source. This protocol is sufficiently mild to accommodate an assortment of functional groups including keto, ester, amino, halo, and hydroxyl groups. Additionally, applications of this method for the selective synthesis of monodeuterated allenes and chiral 2,5-dihydropyrroles are described.

Abstract
Alkylation of d- or l-phenylalanine or valine alkyl esters was carried out using methyl or phenyl Grignard reagents. Subsequent condensation with salicylaldehyde, 3,5-di-tert-butylsalicylaldehyde, or 5-fluorosalicylaldehyde formed tridentate, X2L type, Schiff base ligands. Chiral shift NMR confirmed retention of stereochemistry during synthesis. X-ray crystal structures of four of the ligands show either inter- or intramolecular hydrogen bonding interactions. The ligands coordinate to the titanium reagents Ti(NMe2)4 or TiCl(NMe2)3 by protonolysis and displacement of two equivalents of HNMe2. The crystal structure of one example of Ti(X2L)Cl(NMe2) was determined and the complex has a distorted square pyramidal geometry with an axial NMe2 ligand. The bis-dimethylamide complexes are active catalysts for the ring closing hydroamination of di- and trisubstituted aminoallenes. The reaction of hepta-4,5-dienylamine at 135 °C with 5 mol% catalyst gives a mixture of 6-ethyl-2,3,4,5-tetrahydropyridine (40-72%) and both Z- and E-2-propenyl-pyrrolidine (25-52%). The ring closing reaction of 6-methyl-hepta-4,5-dienylamine at 135 °C with 5 mol% catalyst gives exclusively 2-(2-methyl-propenyl)-pyrrolidine. The pyrrolidine products are obtained with enantiomeric excesses up to 17%.

Abstract
Short syntheses of oxa-preussin, racemic preussin and (-)-preussin are reported. Starting from a racemic 3-nonyl-substituted methoxyallene derivative, its lithiation and addition to phenylethanal provided the corresponding allenyl alcohol that was converted into two diastereomeric dihydrofuran derivatives by silver nitrate-catalyzed 5-endo-trig cyclization. The acid hydrolysis of the enol ether moiety gave heterocyclic ketones and subsequent highly stereoselective reductions with l-selectride furnished 2-benzyl-5-nonylfuran-3-ol derivatives in good overall yield. The major all-cis-diastereomer has the skeleton and relative configuration of preussin and is hence called oxa-preussin. An analogous sequence with the same allene, but an N-sulfonyl imine as the electrophile, finally led to racemic preussin. The stereoselectivities of the individual steps are discussed in detail. With an enantiopure 2-benzyl-5-nonylpyrrolidin-3-one intermediate the preparation of (-)-preussin with an enantiomeric ratio of >95 : 5 could be accomplished in a few steps. The sign of the optical rotation of this product finally proved the absolute configurations of its precursors and demonstrated that our chiral auxiliary-based route led to the antipode of the natural product. The cytotoxicity of several of the prepared heterocycles against MCF-7 tumor cells was investigated and five compounds, including racemic and enantiopure (-)-preussin, were identified as highly cytotoxic with IC50 values in the range of 3-6 μM.

Abstract
An interrupted Schmidt rearrangement/Hosomi-Sakurai reaction of N-tosyl and S-substituted vinyl azides is reported. With BF3·Et2O as a Lewis acid promoter, the denitrogenative fragmentation of vinyl azides facilitates the generation of the N/ S-stabilized carbocations, which further undergo nucleophilic addition by allyl/propargylsilanes for C-C bond formation. As a result, a variety of homoallylic/allenylic amines can be afforded in good yields under mild reaction conditions with well-defined functional-group tolerance.

Abstract
Indole-tethered amino allenynes were chemodivergently cyclized for the controlled preparation of fused polycyclic indoles using gold catalysis. Double cyclization of terminal allenynes afforded hexacyclic 15 H-indolo[1,2,3-de]quinolino[3,2,1-ij]quinoxalines, in which allenynes bearing a substituted alkyne at the terminal end generated 12,13-dihydro-7 H-indolo[3,2-c]acridines, which are 5-membered cyclized adducts. Density functional theory calculations were performed to shed light on this difference in reactivity.

Abstract
Controlled preparation of tri- and tetrasubstituted furans, as well as carbazoles has been achieved through chemo- and regioselective metal-catalyzed cyclization reactions of cumulenic alcohols. The gold- and palladium-catalyzed cycloisomerization reactions of cumulenols, including indole-tethered 2,3,4-trien-1-ols, to trisubstituted furans was effective, due to a 5-endo-dig oxycyclization by attack of the hydroxy group onto the central cumulene double bond. In contrast, palladium-catalyzed heterocyclization/coupling reactions with 3-bromoprop-1-enes furnished tetrasubstituted furans. Also studied was the palladium-catalyzed cyclization/coupling sequence involving protected indole-tethered 2,3,4-trien-1-ols and 3-bromoprop-1-enes that exclusively generated trisubstituted carbazole derivatives. These results could be explained through a selective 6-endo-dig cumulenic hydroarylation, followed by aromatization. DFT calculations were carried out to understand this difference in reactivity.

Abstract
A unique method to affect intramolecular aminooxygenation and dioxygenation of allenols and allenylsulfonamides is described. These operationally simple reactions occur under neutral or basic conditions where copper(II) carboxylates serve as reaction promoter, oxidant, and carboxylate source. Moderate to high yields of heterocycle-functionalized vinyl carboxylate esters are formed with moderate to high levels of diastereoselectivity. Such vinyl carboxylate esters could serve as precursors to α-amino and α-oxy ketones and derivatives thereof.

Abstract
The first documented study of the borono-Mannich (Petasis) reactions of pinacol allenylboronate is described. The reactions of salicylaldehyde and primary and secondary amines are highly regioselective and give homopropargylamine and α-allenylamine products, respectively. In contrast, glycoaldehyde and chiral α-hydroxyaldehydes give exclusively anti-β-amino-β-allenyl alcohol products, irrespective of the nature of the amine component. These reactions are highly regio- and diastereoselective and can be employed using an enantiomerically enriched α-hydroxyaldehyde without detectable racemization.

Abstract
A careful interplay between the π electrophilicity of a cationic Au(I) center and the basicity of the corresponding counterion allowed for the chemo- and regioselective inter- as well as intramolecular de-aromatization of 2,3-disubstituted indoles with allenamides. The silver-free bifunctional Lewis acid/Brønsted base complex [{2,4-(tBu)2C6H3O}3PAuTFA] assisted the formation of a range of densely functionalized indolenines under mild conditions.
