Abstract
In this paper are presented the results of the preliminary studies conducted on two model substrates that allowed the testing of various strategies and set the proper conditions that thereafter culminated in the synthesis of the C1-C23 chain of enacyloxin-IIa and its congeners. Innovative strategic options were explored on each model allowing the stereochemical control of the following two elements: (a) the 2E, 4E, 6E, 8E, and 10Z chlorinated undecapentaenoic chain, thanks to Z-selective Kaneda's alkyne allylchlorination and an E-selective Pd/Cu allene-alkyne coupling and (b) the unusual syn-anti -OH/-Cl/-OCONH2 C17-C19 triad, thanks to a highly diastereoselective Mukaiyama aldol reaction.

Abstract
The first synthesis of the protected chain specific to the enacyloxin antibiotic family is reported. The noticeable features are (a) the construction of the chlorinated undecapentaenoic moiety implementing the sequence Tsuji's alkyne syn allyl-chlorination, E-selective Pd/Cu-catalyzed allene-alkyne coupling, Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons olefination, dehydration; (b) control of the C18 chlorinated stereogenic center by organo-catalyzed aldehyde α-chlorination; and (c) the assemblage of this aldehyde with the C1-C16 ketone using a highly diastereoselective Mukaiyama aldol.

Abstract
An expeditious protocol for the assembly of chiral 4,5-dihydropyridazin-3(2H)-ones from α-chloro hydrazones and α-chloro aliphatic aldehydes via N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) catalysis is outlined. These in situ-generated 1,2-diaza-1,3-dienes undergo asymmetric [4+2] annulation with NHC-bound enolates to afford the desired products bearing a stereogenic center at the C4 position. The notable features of this approach include good to excellent enantioselectivities, high functional group tolerance, mild reaction conditions, simple operating procedures, and compatibility with gram-scale synthesis.

Abstract
Neighboring-group participation of an ester enabled stereocontrol in substitution reactions of acyclic acetals. The ester group formed a trans-fused dioxolenium ion intermediate, which underwent a substitution reaction at the acetal carbon atom to afford the product with high diastereoselectivity. Neighboring-group participation was confirmed by isolating dioxolane products resulting from nucleophilic addition at C-2 of a 1,3-dioxolenium ion intermediate. Using a pivaloate ester as the participating group in combination with strong nucleophiles produced substitution products with diastereoselectivities of ≥90:10.

Abstract
A synthesis of (+)-xylogiblactone A has been achieved from t-butyl 2-methylbuta-2,3-dienoate in a linear three-step sequence. The key elements of the synthesis include a kinetic resolution of racemic 2-silyoxyaldehyde through the allenoate γ-addition to yield the γ-adduct as a single isomer and the subsequent gold catalysis to form the butenolide core. For a general method, the kinetic resolution of several racemic 2-silyloxyaldehydes is also performed to provide products in high levels of stereoselectivity with unusual anti-Felkin-Anh addition fashion.

Abstract
Double-action haloketones: A super silyl group enabled the first highly diastereoselective Mukaiyama aldol reactions of α-chloro- and α-fluoroketones with a wide range of aldehydes, providing anti-β-siloxy-α-haloketones. This process is compatible with one-pot double-aldol methodology and allows for rapid access to new halogen-modified polyketide fragments bearing up to four contiguous stereocenters.

Abstract
A general diastereoselective method for the addition of dialkylzincs and (E)-di- and (E)-trisubstituted vinylzinc reagents to β-silyloxy aldehydes is presented. This method employs alkyl zinc triflate and nonaflate Lewis acids and affords chelation-controlled products (6:1 to > 20:1 dr).

Abstract
A stereoselective total synthesis of the reported structure of goniotrionin (4) has been accomplished. The key steps involved the opening of a chiral epoxide, a highly diastereoselective Mukaiyama aerobic oxidative cyclization, a selective 1,2-syn Mukaiyama aldol reaction, and a Noyori reduction.
