Abstract
The excessive contamination of drinking water sources by pesticides has a pernicious impact on human health and the environment since only 0.1% of pesticides is utilized effectively to control the and the rest is deposited in the environment. Filtration by polymeric membranes has become a promising technique to deal with this problem; however, the scientific community, in the need to find better pesticide retention results, has begun to meddle in the functionalization of polymeric membranes. Given the great variety of membrane, polymer, and nanomaterial synthesis methods present in the market, the possibilities of obtaining membranes that adjust to different variables and characteristics related to a certain pesticide are relatively extensive, so it is expected that this technology will represent one of the main pesticide removal strategies in the future. In this direction, this review focused on, - the main characteristics of the nanomaterials and their impact on pristine polymeric membranes; - the removal performance of functionalized membranes; and - the main mechanisms by which membranes can retain pesticides. Based on these insights, the functionalized polymeric membranes can be considered as a promising technology in the removal of pesticides since the removal performance of this technology against pesticide showed a significant increase. Obtaining membranes that adjust to different variables and characteristics related to a certain pesticide are relatively extensive, so it is expected that functionalized membrane technology will represent one of the main pesticide removal strategies in the future.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), a sub-group of porous crystalline materials, have been receiving increasing attention for gas separation and pervaporation because of their high thermal and chemical stability, narrow window sizes, as well as tuneable structural, physical, and chemical properties. In this review, we comprehensively discuss developments in the formation of continuous MOF membranes for gas separation and pervaporation. Additionally, the application performance of continuous MOF membranes in gas separation and pervaporation are analysed. Lastly, some perspectives for the future application of continuous MOF membranes for gas separation and pervaporation are given.

Abstract
In this work, nanovoid-enhanced thin-film composite (TFC) membranes have been successfully fabricated using ZIF-67 nanoparticles as the sacrificial template. By incorporating different amounts of ZIF-67 during interfacial polymerization, the resultant TFC membranes can have different degrees of nanovoids after self-degradation of ZIF-67 in water, consequently influencing their physiochemical properties and separation performance. Nanovoid structures endow the membranes with additional passages for water molecules. Thus, all the newly developed TFC membranes exhibit better separation performance for brackish water reverse osmosis (BWRO) desalination than the pristine TFC membrane. The membrane made from 0.1 wt % ZIF-67 shows a water permeance of 2.94 LMH bar-1 and a salt rejection of 99.28% when being tested under BWRO at 20 bar. This water permeance is 53% higher than that of the pristine TFC membrane with the salt rejection well maintained.

Abstract
Solvent separation and dehydration are important operations for industries and laboratories. Processes such as distillation and extraction are not always effective and are energy-consuming. An alternate approach is offered by pervaporation, based on the solution-diffusion transport mechanism. Polymer-based membranes such as those made of Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) have offered good pervaporation performance. Attempts have been made to improve their performance by incorporating inorganic fillers into the PDMS matrix, in which metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have proven to be the most efficient. Among the MOFs, Zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) based membranes have shown an excellent performance, with high values for flux and separation factors. Various studies have been conducted, employing ZIF-PDMS membranes for pervaporation separation of mixtures such as aqueous-alcoholic solutions. This paper presents an extensive review of the pervaporation performance of ZIF-based mixed matrix membranes (MMMs), novel synthesis methods, filler modifications, factors affecting membrane performance as well as studies based on polymers other than PDMS for the membrane matrix. Some suggestions for future studies have also been provided, such as the use of biopolymers and self-healing membranes.
