Abstract
An efficient and practical strategy for the construction of pyrrolo[3,4-c]isoquinolines via Rh(III)-catalyzed cascade C-H activation and subsequential annulation process from easily available O-methyl aryloximes and maleimides has been disclosed. This facile protocol does not require any inert atmosphere protection with good efficiency in a low loading of catalyst and exhibits good functional group tolerance and broad substrate scope. Notably, the as-prepared products show potential photophysical properties.

Abstract
Herein, we report a metal-free and efficient method for the C(sp3)-H functionalization of 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridines at the C4-position by the addition of azodicarboxylates (C-N bond) and maleimides (C-C bond) using deep eutectic solvents (DESs) at 80 °C. The C4-functionalized 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroacridines were achieved with high atom efficiency, precise regioselectivity, and yields ranging from 70-96%. The practicality of the developed method has been demonstrated through gram-scale synthesis. Also the green-metrics were calculated for the developed method and it was found that the metrics are near to the ideal values.

Abstract
3-Aryl-4-aminomaleimides have well-demonstrated applications, such as being used as fluorophores and inhibitors. However, their previous synthesis methods have involved tedious multi-step procedures or methods that need pre-functionalized maleimides and toxic or unstable reagents. Here, a feasible method is developed to synthesize these useful compounds. This includes the one-pot preparation of 3-aminomaleimides, followed by their direct arylation through a palladium-catalyzed Heck reaction with various aryl iodides regioselectively at the β-position of their amine substituents. The results show that this method efficiently exhibits a broad scope.

Abstract
A new, simple, and metal-free route for the diselenation of maleimides has been first developed employing (bis(trifluoroacetoxy)iodo)benzene (PIFA) at room temperature. The present method is compatible with different functional groups, and various diselenyl maleimides were obtained in moderate to excellent yields. Moreover, this protocol further highlights the unique practical application for the functionalization of biologically relevant molecules and amino acid derivatives. Preliminary mechanism studies suggest that radicals may be involved in this novel transformation. Additionally, this protocol is also applicable for the monoselenation of maleimides by switching the reaction conditions and selenation of other electron-deficient alkenes.

Abstract
Transition-metal-catalyzed directed C-H alkenylation with maleimides has attracted much attention in recent years, as maleimide core moieties are present in various natural products and pharmaceuticals. In addition, these derivatives can be readily modified into biologically important compounds including succinimides, pyrrolidines and γ-lactams. The efficient chelation-assisted inert C-H bond activation strategy provides straightforward access to a wide array of structurally diverse molecules containing maleimide units. This review describes the major progress and mechanistic investigations on Heck-type reaction/cyclization of maleimides with organic molecules until early 2022.

Abstract
A new edition of [5+1] annulation reaction of maleimides with 2-alkenylphenols has been discovered under a Rh(iii)-catalytic system. The process leads to an efficient synthesis of valued spirocyclic scaffolds bearing an oxygen-containing spiro carbon in a single step and shows a broad substrate scope with good functional group tolerance. The synthetic utility has been exemplified by synthesizing highly functionalized 2,2-disubstituted-2H-chromene skeletons and a gram-scale synthesis with a low catalyst loading.

Abstract
Herein, we disclose the Rh(III)-catalyzed selective C8-alkylation of quinoline N-oxides with maleimides and acrylates. The main features of the reaction include complete C8-selectivity and broad substrate scope with good to excellent yields. The reaction also proceeded well with unprotected maleimide. The applicability of the developed methodology is demonstrated with gram-scale synthesis and post-modification of the alkylated product. Preliminary mechanistic study revealed that the reaction proceeds through a five-membered rhodacycle and involves proto-demetalation step.

Abstract
An efficient route for the coupling of maleimides with chromones at the C5-position has been developed under Ru(II) catalysis. It could provide 1,4-addition products and oxidative Heck-type products by switching additives. Benzoic acid led to the formation of 1,4-addition products under solvent-free conditions, and silver acetate was promoted to the generation of oxidative Heck-type products. Various maleimides and chromones were suitable for this transformation, affording the desired products with good to excellent yields in a short reaction time. To understand the mechanism of this reaction, deuteration studies and control experiments have been performed.
