Abstract
Isolation of cyclic (alkyl) amino carbenes (cAACs) in 2005 has been a major achievement in the field of stable carbenes due to their better electronic properties. cAACs and bicyclic(alkyl)(amino)carbene (BicAAC) in essence are the most electrophilic as well as nucleophilic carbenes are known till date. Due to their excellent electronic properties in terms of nucleophilic and electrophilic character, cAACs have been utilized in different areas of chemistry, including stabilization of low valent main group and transition metal species, activation of small molecules, and catalysis. The applications of cAACs in catalysis have opened up new avenues of research in the field of cAAC chemistry. This review summarizes the major results of cAAC chemistry published until August 2021.

Abstract
We report herein a new family of carbene ligands based on an indolizine-ylidene (Indolizy) moiety. The corresponding gold(I) complexes are easily obtained from the gold(I)-promoted cyclization of allenylpyridine precursors. Evaluation of the electronic properties by experimental methods and also by DFT calculations confirms strong σ-donating and π-accepting properties of these ligands. Cationization of the gold(I) complexes generates catalytic species that trigger diverse reactions of (poly)unsaturated precursors. When armed with a methylene phosphine oxide moiety on the stereogenic center adjacent to the nitrogen atom, the corresponding bifunctional carbene ligands give rise to highly enantioselective heterocyclizations. DFT calculations brought some rationalization and highlighted the critical roles played by the phosphine oxide group and the tosylate anion in the asymmetric cyclization of γ-allenols.

Abstract
Selectivity of aryl iodo over ethynyl iodo toward the Suzuki cross coupling reaction is explored by utilizing a palladium complex of amino-ether heteroditopic macrobicycle. Subsequently, unreacted ethynyl iodide undergoes homocoupling reaction in the same catalytic atmosphere, thereby representing a cascade dual C-C coupling reaction. Furthermore, this approach is extended for novel one-pot synthesis of unsymmetrical 1,3-diynes.

Abstract
The synthesis and full characterization of new air-stable AgI and CuI complexes bearing structurally bulky expanded-ring N-heterocyclic carbene (erNHC) ligands is presented. The condensation of protonated NHC salts with Ag2 O afforded a collection of AgI complexes, and their first use as ligand transfer reagents led to novel isostructural CuI or AuI complexes. In situ deprotonation of the NHC salts in the presence of a copper(I) source, provides a library of new CuI complexes. The solid-state structures feature large N-CNHC -N angles (118-128°) and almost identical angles between the aryl groups on the nitrogen atoms and the plane of the N-C-N unit of the carbene (i.e. torsion angles close to 0°). Among the steric parameters, the percent buried volume (%Vbur ) values span easily in the 50-57 % range, and that one of (9-Dipp)CuBr complex (%Vbur =57.5) overcomes to other known erNHC-metal complexes reported to date. Preliminary catalytic experiments in the copper-catalyzed coupling between N-tosylhydrazone and phenylacetylene, afforded 76-93 % product at the 0.5-2.5 mol % catalyst loading, proving the stability of CuI erNHC complexes at elevated temperatures (100 °C).

Abstract
The members of a series of linear and trigonal copper(I) complexes bearing a cyclic alkyl(amino)carbene (CAAC) ligand show surprising photophysical properties compared to those of the corresponding N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes. Whereas the linear NHC complexes [CuX(NHC)] are almost non-emissive, [CuX(CAAC)] (X=Cl, Br, I) and [Cu(CAAC)2 ]PF6 show very bright emissions from their triplet excited states in the blue to green region, displaying quantum yields of up to 65 % in the solid state, even though the π-acceptor comprises only the carbene C and N atoms with no other π conjugation. [Cu(CAAC)2 ]PF6 is the fastest CuI -based triplet state emitter characterized to date, not displaying thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF), with an intrinsic lifetime of only 10.6 μs, that is, kr =9.4×104 s-1 , competitive with many PtII - and IrIII -based emitters. In order to test the stability of such linear copper CAAC complexes in devices, some of our compounds have been applied in proof-of-principle organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). This case study thus demonstrates for the first time the use of CAACs as suitable π-chromophores for CuI -based phosphorescent emitters, and their implementation in OLEDs underlines the general applicability of this class of ligands in materials science.

Abstract
Valuable 1-azabicycloalkane derivatives have been synthesized through a novel gold(I)-catalyzed desulfonylative cyclization strategy. An ammoniumation reaction of ynones substituted at the 1-position with an N-sulfonyl azacycle took place in the presence of a gold cation by intramolecular cyclization of the disubstituted sulfonamide moiety onto the triple bond. Depending on the size of the heterocyclic ring and substitution of the substrates, two unprecedented forms of nucleophilic attack on the sulfonyl group were exploited, that is, a N-desulfonylation in the presence of an external protic O nucleophile (37-87 %, 10 examples) and a unique N-to-O 1,5-sulfonyl migration (60-98 %, 9 examples).

Abstract
Cyclic (amino)(aryl)carbenes (CAArCs) result from the replacement of the alkyl substituent of cyclic (alkyl)(amino) carbenes (CAACs) by an aryl group. This structural modification leads to enhanced electrophilicity of the carbene center with retention of the high nucleophilicity of CAACs, and therefore CAArCs feature a small singlet-triplet gap. The isoindolium precursors are readily prepared in good yields, and deprotonation at low temperature, in the presence of [RhCl(cod)]2 and [(Me2S)AuCl] lead to air-stable rhodium and gold CAArC-supported complexes, respectively. The rhodium complexes promote the [3+2] cycloaddition of diphenylcyclopropenone with ethyl phenylpropiolate, and induce the addition of 2-vinylpyridine to alkenes by CH activation. The gold complexes allow for the catalytic three-component preparation of 1,2-dihydroquinolines from aniline and phenyl acetylene. These preliminary results illustrate the potential of CAArC ligands in transition-metal catalysis.

Abstract
The scope and limitations of the isonitrile-based NHC template synthesis were investigated with a series of precursors containing a nucleophilic amine in combination with tethered electrophiles. In the case of alkynes and phosphonic esters as electrophiles no ring closure was observed and new functionalized NAC gold complexes were obtained. By the use of unsaturated esters and phosphonic esters as Michael acceptors in the amine precursors, ester-modified gold and palladium NHC complexes were accessible in high efficiency.

Abstract
The direct synthesis of tertiary amines from ammonia and olefins is presented. Using a combination of Ru3 (CO)12 and 2-phosphino-substituted imidazole ligand as catalyst system allows for hydroaminomethylation reactions of bulk aliphatic and functionalized olefins. Tertiary amines are obtained in an atom-efficient domino process in moderate to good isolated yields (45-76%) with excellent regioselectivities (n/iso up to 99:1).

Abstract
A facile synthesis of chiral cyclic alkyl aminocarbene-gold(I) complexes from gold-free 1,7-enyne substrates was developed. The novel cyclization-rearrangement reaction sequence is triggered by the addition of (Me2S)AuCl to different 1,7-enynes and leads to structurally unique carbene-gold(I) complexes in high yields. These novel complexes are catalytically active and inhibit the proliferation of different human cancer cell lines.
