Abstract
The reactivity of the four-membered NP3 ring system [RN(μ-PCl)2 PR] (R=Mes*=2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenyl) towards Lewis acids, Lewis bases, and reducing agents was investigated. Comparisons with the literature-known, analogous cyclic compounds [ClP(μ-NR)]2 (R=Ter=2,6-dimesitylphenyl) and [ClP(μ-PR)]2 (R=Mes*) are drawn, to obtain a better systematic understanding of the reactivity of cyclic NP species. Apart from experimental results, DFT computations are discussed to further the insight into bonding and electronic structure of these compounds.

Abstract
The polarized, cationic diphosphene [(Cl ImDipp )P=P(Dipp)]+ as the triflate salt 7[OTf](Cl ImDipp =4,5-dichloro-1,3-bis(Dipp)-imidazol-2-yl; Dipp=2,6-diisopropylphenyl) reacts with azides of type RN3 (R=Dipp or Dmp; Dmp=2,5-dimethylphenyl) in a [2+3] cycloaddition reaction followed by the release of N2 and a subsequent electrocyclic ring-closing reaction to azadiphosphiridine salts [(Cl ImDipp )P-P(Dipp)-N(R)]10a,b[OTf] (R=Dipp or Dmp). The reaction of 7[X] (X=OTf, GaCl4 ) with the electron-rich azides Me3 SiN3 and NaN3 give the unusual diphosphenimine derivatives [(Cl ImDipp )P-P(Dipp)=N(SiMe3 )]+ (11[OTf]) and [(Cl ImDipp )P-P(Dipp)=N(GaCl3 )] (12), respectively, featuring an acyclic P2 N moiety. Theoretical calculations provide insights into the reaction mechanisms to the cyclic and acyclic forms, in which the thermodynamic stability of the latter prevents the electrocyclic ring closure.

Abstract
A bulky NPN-substituted dichlorostibane was reduced with KC8to afford a distibenium compound with a [Sb2]2+ion which can be regarded as a dimerization product of a stiba-phospha-diazanediyl singlet biradicaloid. The intermediate formation of this singlet stiba-phospha-diazanediyl was proven by trapping experiments.

Abstract
The treatment of bis[(dialkylamino)cyclopropenimines] with dihalophosphines in the presence of trimethylsilyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (TMSOTf) to form diimine-stabilized P(III) -centered dications is reported. The structures of the new compounds were determined by using X-ray diffraction analysis and their donor abilities as ligands evaluated through electrochemical methods. Despite the two positive charges that they bear, these compounds depict intermediate behavior between that of phosphines and phosphites. The coordination of the [L2 PR](2+) moiety to Au(I) and Ag(I) is also reported. Even more surprisingly, these phosphorus centers can be oxidized to the corresponding P(V) dications in the presence of strong oxidants such as peroxides or XeF2 .

Abstract
The reaction of [ClP(μ-PMes*)]2 (1) with the Lewis acid GaCl3 yielded a hitherto unknown tetraphosphabicyclo[1.1.0]butan-2-ium salt, [Mes*P4(Cl)Mes*][GaCl4] (3[GaCl4]), which incorporates a positively charged phosphonium center within its bicyclic P4 scaffold. The formation of the title compound was studied by means of low-temperature NMR experiments. This led to the identification of an intermediate cyclotetraphosphenium cation, which was trapped by reaction with dimethylbutadiene (dmb). All of the compounds were fully characterized by experimental and computational methods.

Abstract
Various new P-based ring systems were synthesised by transferring established reaction routes from NP chemistry to the analogous PP compounds. Due to the different electronic situations of phosphorus and nitrogen with respect to s and p character of the lone pair, different reactivity of the phosphorus compounds was observed, especially with regard to the specificity of the reactions and the stability of the products. Whereas Mes*NPCl (Mes*=2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenyl) is stable in the solid state and in solution, the formal phosphorus congener Mes*PPCl is highly reactive and could not be observed. Instead, several formal dimers and trimers of Mes*PPCl could be isolated, which constitute an intriguing variety of three- and four-membered ring systems.

Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of salts bearing highly labile pseudohalogen-substituted aminophosphenium cations of the type [(Me3Si)2NPX][GaCl4] (X = NCO, NCS, O(SiMe3)) and their respective reactivity toward Lewis bases (4-dimethylaminopyridine, dmap) and dienes (2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene, dmb; 1,3-cyclo-hexadiene, chd) are described. As π-acidic species, aminophosphenium cations react with dmap at low temperatures to yield adduct salts of the type [(Me3Si)2NP(dmap)X][GaCl4] (X = Cl, N3, NCO) which were fully characterized. In the reaction with dienes at -50 °C, salts bearing phospholenium cations were obtained that could be structurally characterized. The crystal structures of novel 7-phosphanorbornenium cations of the type [(Me3Si)2NP(C6H8)X][GaCl4] (X = Cl, N3, NCO) are reported. All compounds were further investigated by means of density functional theory, and the bonding situation was accessed by Natural Bond Orbital (NBO) analysis.
