Abstract
The development of Pd(II)-catalyzed dearomatization transformation of dibenzoxaborins with alkynes triggered by transmetalation from boron to palladium has been achieved, leading to the synthesis of spirocyclohexadienones, an important skeleton demonstrating potential biomedical utility. The [3 + 2] spiroannulation exhibits remarkable regioselectivity and broad substrate scope under mild reaction conditions. This methodology employs dibenzoxaborin as a substrate to establish the formal dearomatization of 2-phenylphenol, which poses a formidable energy barrier to the destruction of aromaticity.

Abstract
Dearomatization reactions allow the direct synthesis of structurally complex sp3 -rich molecules from readily available "flat" precursors. Established dearomatization processes commonly involve the formation of new C-C bonds, whereas methods that enable the introduction of C-N bonds have received less attention. Because of the privileged position of nitrogen in drug discovery, significant recent methodological efforts have been directed towards addressing this deficiency. Consequently, a variety of new processes are now available that allow the direct preparation of sp3 -rich amino-containing building blocks and scaffolds. This review gives an overview of C-N bond forming dearomatization reactions, particularly with respect to scaffold assembly processes. The discussion gives historical context, but the main focus is on selected methods that have been reported recently.

Abstract
Rapid assembly of fluorene-based spirocycles represents a highly significant but challenging task in organic synthesis. Reported herein is a novel Pd(0)-catalyzed [4+1] spiroannulation of simple o-iodobiaryls with bromonaphthols for the one-step construction of [4,5]-spirofluorenes in high yields with excellent functional group tolerance. Noteworthily, these valuable fluorene-based coumarin skeletons can enrich the database of C-coumarins and exhibit excellent spectroscopic properties. A “two-in-one” strategy for one-step construction of fluorene-based spirocycles has been developed via Pd(0)-catalyzed spiroannulation of cross-coupling of two simple aryl halides.![]()

Abstract
It is still challenging to develop non-precious free-standing bifunctional electrocatalysts with high efficiency for hydrogen and oxygen evolution reactions. Herein, for the first time, we present a novel hybrid electrocatalyst synthesized via a facile hydrothermal reaction, which is constructed from ultrafine NiSe2 nanoparticles/nanosheets homogeneously anchored on 3D graphene/nickel foam (NiSe2/3DSNG/NF). This hybrid delivers superior catalytic performances for hydrogen/oxygen evolution reactions and overall water splitting: it shows an ultra-small Tafel slope of 28.56 mV dec-1 for hydrogen evolution in acid, and a small Tafel slope of 42.77 mV dec-1 for the oxygen evolution reaction; particularly, in a two-electrode setup for water splitting, it requires an ultra-small potential of 1.59 V to obtain 10 mA cm-2 with nearly 100% faradaic efficiencies for H2 and O2. This study presents a new approach of catalyst design and fabrication to achieve highly efficient and low-cost water electrolysis.

Abstract
An efficient RhIII -catalyzed redox-neutral method for the direct C8-arylation of quinoline N-oxides using diazonaphthalen-2(1H)-one as coupling partner has been demonstrated. The developed method is simple, scalable and straightforward with a wide range of substrate scope. The applicative potential was extended with a late-stage functionalization and straightforward synthesis of 8-azaBINOL derivative. A plausible reaction pathway was proposed after carrying out preliminary control studies.

Abstract
A C-N bond forming dearomatization protocol with broad scope is outlined. Specifically, bifunctional amino reagents are used for sequential nucleophilic and electrophilic C-N bond formations, with the latter effecting the key dearomatization step. Using this approach, γ-arylated alcohols are converted to a wide range of differentially protected spirocyclic pyrrolidines in just two or three steps.

Abstract
A nickel-catalyzed asymmetric oxazole-forming Ugi reaction of C,N-cyclic azomethine imines and isonitriles is disclosed. The reported protocol proceeds smoothly, and gives the corresponding adducts, which contain two important pharmaceutically active ring-systems (tetrahydroquinoline and oxazole rings), in good yields and excellent enantioselectivities by employing an easily accessible chiral diamine as a ligand. This simple and efficient strategy provides easy access to a series of C1-substituted aryl tetrahydroisoquinolines.

Abstract
A dearomative reduction of simple arenes has been developed which employs a visible-light-mediated cycloaddition of arenes with an N-N-arenophile and in situ diimide reduction. Subsequent cycloreversion or fragmentation of the arenophile moiety affords 1,3-cyclohexadienes or 1,4-diaminocyclohex-2-enes, compounds that are not synthetically accessible using existing dearomatization reactions. Importantly, this strategy also provides numerous opportunities for further derivatization as well as site-selective functionalization of polynuclear arenes.

Abstract
A novel palladium(0)-catalyzed dearomative cyclization reaction of bromophenols with (1,n)-diynes has been developed for building two new types of tricyclic architectures containing a quaternary carbon center. This method employs inexpensive bromophenols, and easily accessible tethered diynes. It exhibits a broad substrate scope and tolerates various functional groups. Preliminary results with commercially available chiral ligands indicate that enantioselective variants are feasible for both cyclization processes.
