Abstract
Microplastics (MPs) have attracted increasing attention due to their ubiquitous occurrence in freshwater sediments and the detrimental effects on benthic invertebrates. However, a clear understanding of their downstream impacts on ecosystem services is still lacking. This study examines the effects of bio-based polylactic acid (PLA), fuel-based polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and biofilm-covered PET (BPET) MPs on the bioturbator chironomid larvae (Tanypus chinensis), and the influence on phosphorus (P) profiles in microcosms. The changes in biochemical responses and metabolic pathways indicated that MPs disrupted energy synthesis by causing intestinal blockage and oxidative stress in T. chinensis, leading to energy depletion and impaired bioturbation activity. The impairment further resulted in enhanced sedimentary P immobilization. For larval treatments, the internal-P loadings were respectively 11.4%, 8.6%, and 9.0% higher in the PLA, PET, and BPET groups compared to the non-MP control. Furthermore, the influence of bioturbation on P profiles was MP-type dependent. Both BPET and PLA treatments displayed more obvious impacts on P profiles compared to PET due to the changes in MP bioavailability or sediment microenvironment. This study connects individual physiological responses to broader ecosystem services, showing that MPs alter P biogeochemical processes by disrupting the bioturbation activities of chironomid larvae.

Abstract
Ulcerative colitis is a chronic disease with colonic mucosa injury. Nitazoxanide is an antiprotozoal drug in clinic. Nitazoxanide and its metabolite tizoxanide have been demonstrated to activate AMPK and inhibit inflammation, therefore, the aim of the present study is to investigate the effect of nitazoxanide on dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis and the underlying mechanism. Oral administration of nitazoxanide ameliorated the symptoms of mice with DSS-induced colitis, as evidenced by improving the increased disease activity index (DAI), the decreased body weight, and the shortened colon length. Oral administration of nitazoxanide ameliorated DSS-induced intestinal barrier dysfunction and reduced IL-6 and IL-17 expression in colon tissues. Mechanistically, nitazoxanide and its metabolite tizoxanide treatment activated AMPK and inhibited JAK2/STAT3 signals. Nitazoxanide and tizoxanide treatment increased caudal type homeobox 2 (CDX2) expression, increased alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity and promoted tight junctions in Caco-2 cells. Nitazoxanide and tizoxanide treatment restored the decreased zonula occludens-1(ZO-1) and occludin protein levels induced by LPS or IL-6 in Caco-2 cells. On the other hand, nitazoxanide and tizoxanide regulated macrophage bias toward M2 polarization, as evidenced by the increased arginase-1expression in bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDM). Nitazoxanide and tizoxanide reduced the increased IL-6, iNOS and CCL2 pro-inflammatory gene expressions and inhibited JAK2/STAT3 activation in BMDM induced by LPS. In conclusion, nitazoxanide protects against DSS-induced ulcerative colitis in mice through improving intestinal barrier and inhibiting inflammation and the underlying mechanism involves AMPK activation and JAK2/STAT3 inhibition.

Abstract
The exogenous hydroxylamine dosing has been proven to enhance nitrite supply for anammox bacteria. In this study, exogenous hydroxylamine was fed into a sequencing batch reactor to investigate its long-term effect on anammox granular sludge. The results showed that hydroxylamine enhanced the reactor's performance with an increase in total nitrogen removal rate from 0.23 to 0.52 kg N/m3/d and an increase in bacterial activity from 11.65 to 78.24 mg N/g VSS/h. Meanwhile, hydroxylamine promoted granulation by eluting flocs. And higher anammox activity and granulation were supported by extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) characteristics. Moreover, Candidatus Brocadia's abundance increased from 1.10 % to 3.03 %, and its symbiosis with heterotrophic bacteria was intensified. Additionally, molecular docking detailed the mechanism of the hydroxylamine effect. Overall, this study would provide new insights into the hydroxylamine dosing strategy application.

Abstract
Improving the durability of wear-resistant superhydrophobic surfaces is crucial for their practical use. To tackle this, research is now delving into self-healing superhydrophobic surfaces. In our study, we developed superhydrophobic cotton fabrics by embedding nano-silica particles, micro-silica powder, and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) using a dipping method. This innovative design grants the SiO2/PDMS cotton fabric remarkable superhydrophobicity, reflected by a water contact angle of 155°. Moreover, the PDMS was stored in the amorphous areas of cellulose of cotton fabrics, attaching to the fiber surface and playing a role in connecting micro-blocks and nano-particles. This causes a self-diffusion of PDMS molecules in these fabrics, allowing the surface to regain its superhydrophobicity even after abrasion damage. Impressively, this self-healing property can be renewed at least 8 times, showcasing the fabric's resilience. Moreover, these superhydrophobic cotton fabrics exhibit outstanding self-cleaning abilities and repel various substances such as blood, milk, cola, and tea. This resilience, coupled with its simplicity, low cost-effectiveness, and eco-friendliness, makes this coating highly promising for applications across construction, chemical, and medical fields. Our study also delves into understanding the self-healing mechanism of the SiO2/PDMS cotton fabric, offering insights into their long-term performance and potential advancements in this field.

Abstract
Surgical site infections (SSIs) are a common type of healthcare-associated infection. We performed a literature review to demonstrate the incidence of SSIs in mainland China based on studies since 2010. We included 231 eligible studies with ≥30 postoperative patients, comprising 14 providing overall SSI data regardless of surgical sites and 217 reporting SSIs for a specific site. We found that the overall SSI incidence was 2.91% (median; interquartile range: 1.05%, 4.57%) or 3.18% (pooled; 95% confidence interval: 1.85%, 4.51%) and the SSI incidence varied remarkably according to the surgical site between the lowest (median, 1.00%; pooled, 1.69%) in thyroid surgeries and the highest (median, 14.89%; pooled, 12.54%) in colorectal procedures. We uncovered that Enterobacterales and staphylococci were the most common types of micro-organisms associated with SSIs after various abdominal surgeries and cardiac or neurological procedures, respectively. We identified two, nine, and five studies addressing the impact of SSIs on mortality, the length of stay (LOS) in hospital, and additional healthcare-related economic burden, respectively, all of which demonstrated increased mortality, prolonged LOS, and elevated medical costs associated with SSIs among affected patients. Our findings illustrate that SSIs remain a relatively common, serious threat to patient safety in China, requiring more action. To tackle SSIs, we propose to establish a nationwide network for SSI surveillance using unified criteria with the aid of informatic techniques and to tailor and implement countermeasures based on local data and observation. We highlight that the impact of SSIs in China warrants further study.

Abstract
RATIONALE AND OBJECTIVES To analyse the MRI-based radiomics and delta-radiomics features to establish radiomics models for predicting the radiographic progression of osteoarthritis (OA). MATERIALS AND METHODS The data used in this research come from the dataset of the FNIH Biomarker Consortium Project within the Osteoarthritis Initiative (OAI). 565 participants randomly divided into training and validation groups at a 7:3 ratio. The training cohort consisted of 395 participants and included 202 cases. The validation cohort consisted of 170 participants and included 87 cases. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) was used for feature selection. Support vector machine (SVM) was used to establish radiomics models and clinical and biomarker models for predicting the radiographic progression of OA. The predictive ability of the model was evaluated by the area under the curve (AUC). RESULTS The baseline, 24 M, Delta, and two combination radiomics models (Baseline and Delta, 24 M and Delta) all showed good predictive performance in the training and validation cohorts, with the combination model exhibiting the best performance. In the training cohort, the AUCs were 0.851 (95% CI: 0.812-0.890), 0.825 (95% CI: 0.784-0.865), 0.804 (95% CI: 0.761-0.847), 0.892 (95% CI: 0.860-0.924) and 0.884 (95% CI: 0.851-0.917), respectively. The AUCs in the validation cohort were 0.741 (95% CI: 0.667-0.814), 0.786 (95% CI: 0.716-0.856), 0.745 (95% CI: 0.671-0.819), 0.781 (95% CI: 0.711-0.851) and 0.802 (95% CI: 0.736-0.869), respectively. As compared, the clinical and biomarker models have AUC < 0.74. The DeLong test showed that the predictive performance of the radiomics models in the training and validation cohorts was significantly better than that of the clinical and biomarker models (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION The MRI-based radiomics models of the patella all showed good predictive performance performed better than the clinical and biomarker models in predicting the radiographic progression of OA. Delta radiomics can improve the predictive performance of the single time model, the combined model of 24 M and Delta provided the best predictive performance.

Abstract
The development of a vaccine specific to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 Omicron has been hampered due to its low immunogenicity. Here, using reverse mutagenesis, we found that a phenylalanine-to-serine mutation at position 375 (F375S) in the spike protein of Omicron to revert it to the sequence found in Delta and other ancestral strains significantly enhanced the immunogenicity of Omicron vaccines. Sequence FAPFFAF at position 371-377 in Omicron spike had a potent inhibitory effect on macrophage uptake of receptor-binding domain (RBD) nanoparticles or spike-pseudovirus particles containing this sequence. Omicron RBD enhanced binding to Siglec-9 on macrophages to impair phagocytosis and antigen presentation and promote immune evasion, which could be abrogated by the F375S mutation. A bivalent F375S Omicron RBD and Delta-RBD nanoparticle vaccine elicited potent and broad nAbs in mice, rabbits and rhesus macaques. Our research suggested that manipulation of the Siglec-9 pathway could be a promising approach to enhance vaccine response.

Abstract
Current myocardial infarction (MI) treatments are suboptimal, necessitating deeper pathogenesis understanding of MI. This research explored how exosomes (Exo) derived from bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) contribute to MI mitigation and their therapeutic potential. Isolated BMSCs was identified by microscope, flow cytometry, alizarin red and oil red O staining. Exo were identified by TEM, NTA and western blot. HE staining, masson staining, and cardiac function parameters were used to assess the cardiac function in MI mice. TUNEL staining, western blot and qRT-PCR were used to detect apoptosis, inflammatory factors and M1/M2 markers. The NF-κB pathway activation was detected through western blot assays. Immunofluorescence, qRT-PCR, western blot, and flow cytometry were employed to evaluate macrophage polarization. MI mice showed cardiac injury, increased apoptosis and inflammation, while BMSCs-Exo treatment alleviated these effects. In MI mice, the macrophage M1 polarization was increased and the NF-κB pathway was activated, whereas BMSCs-Exo treatment reversed these changes. Furthermore, CISH expression was reduced in MI mice, but was elevated with BMSCs-Exo treatment. In vitro, LPS shifted RAW264.7 cells to M1 phenotype and activated the NF-κB pathway, yet BMSCs-Exo shifted them to M2 phenotype and inhibited the NF-κB pathway. Mechanistically, BMSCs-Exo induced macrophage M2 polarization by transmitting CISH to inhibit NF-κB activation. BMSCs-Exo mitigates MI by transmitting CISH to inhibit the NF-κB pathway, promoting macrophages to M2 type. This implies BMSCs-Exo could be a useful treatment for MI, and CISH could be a potential therapy target.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Anterior approach total hip arthroplasty (THA) decreases the rate of dislocation but increases femoral-sided complications in the way of periprosthetic fractures and component loosening. A cemented prosthesis may reduce femoral-sided complications and improve the risk:benefit profile of anterior approach THA. METHODS Data from the Australian National Joint Replacement Registry were analysed for patients undergoing primary THA via the anterior or posterior approach using a cemented polished femoral stem from January 2015 to December 2021. The primary outcome measure was the cumulative percent revision (CPR) for all causes and CPR for femoral component loosening and fracture. The CPR for the primary outcome measures were compared between the anterior and posterior approach and adjusted for age, sex, ASA score, BMI and femoral head size. RESULTS The study included 60,739 THAs with cemented stems (10,742 anterior, 49,997 posterior). The rate of revision of the anterior versus the posterior approach did not significantly differ (HR 0.87 (95% CI, 0.74-1.03), p = 0.100). Anterior approach THA had a significantly higher rate of revision for femoral component loosening (HR 5.06 [95% CI, 3.08-8.30], p < 0.001); and a decreased rate of revision for infection (HR 0.59 [95% CI, 0.43-0.81], p = 0.001) and dislocation/instability (HR 0-3 months 0.48 [95% CI, 0.27-0.83], p = 0.008; HR >3 months 0.30 [95% CI, 0.15-0.61], p < 0.001). There was no difference in the rate of revision surgery for fracture between the 2 approaches (HR 1.01 [95% CI, 0.71-1.43]), p = 0.975). CONCLUSIONS There is no significant difference in overall revision rates with cemented femoral fixation performed with an anterior or posterior approach. Cemented fixation performed with the anterior approach partly mitigates femoral complications with no difference in the revision rate for fracture but an increased rate of femoral component loosening.

Abstract
In the present work, the taxonomic relationship between Streptomyces coeruleorubidus and Streptomyces bellus was reevaluated by a comprehensive comparison of phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genomic characteristics, as well as phylogeny. In 1957 and 1960, Streptomyces coeruleorubidus and Streptomyces bellus were described as two novel Streptomyces species. The full-length 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis indicated that Streptomyces bellus JCM 4292T shared highest sequence identity with Streptomyces coerulescens ISP 5146T (100%). Phylogenetic analysis of 16S rRNA gene sequence showed that S. bellus JCM 4292T was most closely related to Streptomyces coerulescens ISP 5146T. Phylogenetic analysis of five housekeeping gene sequences demonstrated that S. bellus JCM 4292T was most closely related to S. coeruleorubidus ATCC 13740T. Nevertheless, the ANIm (average nucleotide identity based on MuMmer ultra-rapid aligning tool) and dDDH (digital DNA-DNA hybridization) values between them were 97.71% and 81.9%, respectively, greater than the threshold of 96.7% and 70% for the delineation of Streptomyces species, suggesting that they represent the same genomic species. In addition, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characteristics, as well as phylogeny and genomic DNA-DNA correlation analysis also confirmed the above conclusion. Consequently, we proposed that S. bellus Margalith and Beretta 1960 is a later heterotypic synonym of S. coeruleorubidus (Preobrazhenskaya 1957) Pridham et al. 1958.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to assess the knowledge, attitudes and practices among medical workers toward outpatient diabetes information platform. METHODS This web-based cross-sectional study was conducted between May 2023 and June 2023 at the First Hospital of Zhangjiakou, China. A self-designed questionnaire was developed to collect demographic information of medical workers, and assess their knowledge, attitudes and practices toward outpatient diabetes information platform. RESULTS A total of 685 questionnaires were collected. Among the participants, 603 (88.03%) were female, 432 (63.07%) work in a tertiary hospital, 548 (80.00%) have a bachelor degree, 270 (39.42%) of them work in the department of internal medicine and 315 (45.99%) of them received previous training on outpatient diabetes information platform. The mean knowledge, attitudes and practices scores were 4.32 ± 1.27 (possible range: 0-6), 56.76 ± 5.72 (possible range: 14-70), and 32.22 ± 8.42 (possible range: 9-45), respectively. 350 (51.09%) of them have sufficient knowledge, 168 (24.53%) have positive attitudes and 395 (57.66%) have active practices. Pearson correlation analysis showed that knowledge was positively correlated with attitudes (r = 0.397, P < 0.001), and attitudes were positively correlated with practices (r = 0.306, P < 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that primary hospital (OR = 0.32, 95% CI: 0.14-0.71, P = 0.005), secondary hospital (OR = 0.48, 95% CI: 0.32-0.72, P < 0.001), doctor (OR = 2.44, 95% CI: 1.39-4.28, P = 0.002) were independently associated with sufficient knowledge. Knowledge (OR = 1.49, 95% CI: 1.29-1.73, P < 0.001), community hospital staff (OR = 0.21, 95% CI: 0.05-0.88, P = 0.032) were independently associated with positive attitudes. Attitudes (OR = 1.13, 95% CI: 1.09-1.17, P < 0.001), junior college (OR = 1.72, 95% CI: 1.07-2.77, P = 0.026) were independently associated with active practices. The structural equation model demonstrated that knowledge had a direct effect on attitudes (path coefficient = 0.521, P < 0.001), and attitudes had a direct effect on practices (path coefficient = 0.542, P < 0.001). Moreover, the type of hospital had a direct effect on knowledge (path coefficient = 0.085, P < 0.001). Additionally, previous training on the outpatient diabetes platform had direct effects on attitudes (path coefficient = 0.191, P < 0.001) and practices (path coefficient = 0.184, P < 0.001). CONCLUSION These findings revealed that medical workers have insufficient knowledge, positive attitudes and inactive practices toward the outpatient diabetes information platform. Comprehensive training programs are needed to improve medical staff's practices in this area.

Abstract
AlGaN-based LEDs are promising for many applications in deep ultraviolet fields, especially for water-purification projects, air sterilization, fluorescence sensing, etc. However, in order to realize these potentials, it is critical to understand the factors that influence the optical and electrical properties of the device. In this work, AlxGa1-xN (x = 0.24, 0.34, 0.47) epilayers grown on c-plane patterned sapphire substrate with GaN template by the metal organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD). It is demonstrated that the increase of the aluminum content leads to the deterioration of the surface morphology and crystal quality of the AlGaN epitaxial layer. The dislocation densities of AlxGa1-xN epilayers were determined from symmetric and asymmetric planes of the ω-scan rocking curve and the minimum value is 1.01 × 109 cm-2. The (101¯5) plane reciprocal space mapping was employed to measure the in-plane strain of the AlxGa1-xN layers grown on GaN. The surface barrier heights of the AlxGa1-xN samples derived from XPS are 1.57, 1.65, and 1.75 eV, respectively. The results of the bandgap obtained by PL spectroscopy are in good accordance with those of XRD. The Hall mobility and sheet electron concentration of the samples are successfully determined by preparing simple indium sphere electrodes.

Abstract
Microplastics (MPs) are widely identified as emerging hazards causing considerable eco-toxicity in terrestrial ecosystems, but the impacts differ in different ecosystem functions among different chemical compositions, morphology, sizes, concentrations, and experiment duration. Given the close relationships and trade-offs between plant and soil systems, probing the "whole ecosystem" instead of individual functions must yield novel insights into MPs affecting terrestrial ecosystems. Here, a comprehensive meta-analysis was employed to reveal an unambiguous response of the plant-soil-microbial system to MPs. Results showed that in view of plant, soil, and microbial functions, the general response patterns of plant and soil functions to MPs were obviously opposite. For example, polyethylene (PE) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) MPs highly increased plant functions, while posed negative effects on soil functions. Polystyrene (PS) and biodegradable (Bio) MPs decreased plant functions, while stimulating soil functions. Additionally, low-density polyethylene (LDPE), PE, PS, PVC, Bio, and granular MPs significantly decreased soil microbial functions. These results clearly revealed that MPs alter the equilibrium of the plant-soil-microbial system. More importantly, our results further revealed that MPs tended to increase ecosystem multifunctionality, e.g., LDPE and PVC MPs posed positive effects on ecosystem multifunctionality, PE, PS, and Bio MPs showed neutral effects on ecosystem multifunctionality. Linear regression analysis showed that under low MPs size (<100 µm), ecosystem multifunctionality was gradually reduced with the increased size of MPs. The response of ecosystem multifunctionality showed a concave shape pattern along the gradient of experimental duration which was lower than 70 days. More importantly, there was a threshold (i.e., 5% w/w) for the effects of MPs concentration on ecosystem multifunctionality, i.e., under low concentration (< 5% w/w), ecosystem multifunctionality was gradually increased with the increased concentration of MPs, while ecosystem multifunctionality was gradually decreased under high concentration (i.e., > 5% w/w). These findings emphasize the importance of studying the effects of MPs on plant-soil-microbial systems and help us identify ways to reduce the eco-toxicity of MPs and maintain environmental safety in view of an ecology perspective.

Abstract
A tracking control scheme is proposed for complex dynamic network (CDN), where the CDN is regarded wholly as a dynamic composite system which consists of two mutually coupled subsystems. One subsystem consists of all nodes and the other consists of all links, and consider the weights of the links to be state variables in the latter subsystem. There are two parts in the structure of the proposed tracking control scheme: the designed controller of nodes and the synthesis of the coupling term in links. These two parts can guarantee two subsystems to asymptotically track the given reference targets, respectively. This approach originates from the communication transmission network (CTN). In CTN, for the network optimization management, the reference network topology (NT), such as the star topology, is required as a target for tracking in communication transmission (links) when each node in network needs to track its own target. The control scheme provided of this paper coincides with above requirement. And finally, a comparative simulation example is given for illustrating the effectiveness of the provided control scheme.

Abstract
Ultrafast manipulation of magnetic order has challenged the understanding of the fundamental and dynamic properties of magnetic materials. So far single-shot magnetic switching has been limited to ferrimagnetic alloys, multilayers, and designed ferromagnetic (FM) heterostructures. In FM/antiferromagnetic (AFM) bilayers, exchange bias (He ) arises from the interfacial exchange coupling between the two layers and reflects the microscopic orientation of the antiferromagnet. Here the possibility of single-shot switching of the antiferromagnet (change of the sign and amplitude of He ) with a single femtosecond laser pulse in IrMn/CoGd bilayers is demonstrated. The manipulation is demonstrated in a wide range of fluences for different layer thicknesses and compositions. Atomistic simulations predict ultrafast switching and recovery of the AFM magnetization on a timescale of 2 ps. The results provide the fastest and the most energy-efficient method to set the exchange bias and pave the way to potential applications for ultrafast spintronic devices.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Epidemiological studies have explored the relationship between air pollution and cardiovascular and metabolic diseases (CVMDs). Accumulating evidence has indicated that gut microbiota deeply affects the risk of CVMDs. However, the findings are controversial and the causality remains uncertain. To evaluate whether there is the causal association of four air pollutants with 19 CVMDs and the potential effect of gut microbiota on these relationships. METHODS Genetic instruments for particulate matter (PM) with aerodynamic diameter < 2.5 μm (PM2.5), <10 μm (PM10), PM2.5 absorbance, nitrogen oxides (NOx) and 211 gut microbiomes were screened. Univariable Mendelian randomization (UVMR) was used to estimate the causal effect of air pollutants on CVMDs in multiple MR methods. Additionally, to account for the phenotypic correlation among pollutant, the adjusted model was constructed using multivariable Mendelian randomization (MVMR) analysis to strength the reliability of the predicted associations. Finally, gut microbiome was assessed for the mediated effect on the associations of identified pollutants with CVMDs. RESULTS Causal relationships between NOx and angina, heart failure and hypercholesterolemia were observed in UVMR. After adjustment for air pollutants in MVMR models, the genetic correlations between PM2.5 and hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and obesity remained significant and robust. In addition, genus-ruminococcaceae-UCG003 mediated 7.8 % of PM2.5-effect on T2DM. CONCLUSIONS This study firstly provided the genetic evidence linking air pollution to CVMDs and gut microbiota may mediate the association of PM2.5 with T2DM. Our findings highlight the significance of air quality in CVMDs risks and suggest the potential of modulating intestinal microbiota as novel therapeutic targets between air pollution and CVMDs.

Abstract
The substantial impacts of exogenous pollutants on lake water quality have been extensively reported. Water-sediment factors, which are essential for regulating water quality in river-connected lakes, have not been studied in depth under different hydrological conditions. This study has combined a 31-year water environmental dataset (1991-2021) regarding Dongting Lake and a vector autoregression model (VAR) in order to investigate the impulse response characteristics and contributions of water quality caused by water-sediment factors across different periods. Our analysis suggests that total nitrogen (TN) exhibited a significant increasing trend, whereas total phosphorus (TP) increased to 0.17 mg/L, and then decreased to 0.07 mg/L from 1991 to 2021. The inflow of suspended sediment discharge (SSD) decreased significantly during the study period, mainly because of the decrease in SSD in the three channels (TC). In the pre-Three Gorges Dam (TGD) period, water discharge (WD) and SSD were the Granger causes of TN and TP. In the post-TGD periods this relationship disappeared because of the construction of the TGD, which reduced the inflow of SSD and WD into the lake. Water quality indicators showed an instant response to the shock from themselves with high values, whereas the impulse response of the water quality to water-sediment factors exhibited lagged variations. This meant that the water quality indicators displayed a high impact by themselves across the different periods, with values varying from 67 % to 95 %. Water level (WL) and SSD were the predominant water-sediment factors for TP in the pre-TGD period, with the impact on TP changes accounting for 11 % and 9 %, respectively, whereas the contribution of SSD decreased to 2 % in the post-TGD period. WL was the most crucial water-sediment factor for CODMn during the different periods, with contributions varying from 17 % to 20 %. To improve the water quality of Dongting Lake, in addition to the implementation of strict controls on excessive external nutrient loading, regulating water-sediment factors according to the hydrological features of Dongting Lake during different periods is vital.

Abstract
Epigenetic regulators present novel opportunities for both ischemic stroke research and therapeutic interventions. While previous work has implicated that they may provide neuroprotection by potentially influencing coordinated sets of genes and pathways, most of them remain largely uncharacterized in ischemic conditions. In this study, we used the oxygen-glucose deprivation (OGD) model in the immortalized mouse hippocampal neuronal cell line HT-22 and carried out an RNAi screen on epigenetic regulators. PRMT5 was identified as a novel negative regulator of neuronal cell survival after OGD, which presented a phenotype of translocation from the cytosol to the nucleus upon oxygen and energy depletion both in vitro and in vivo. PRMT5 bound to the chromatin and a large number of promoter regions to repress downstream gene expression. Silencing Prmt5 significantly dampened the OGD-induced changes for a large-scale of genes, and gene ontology analysis showed that PRMT5-target genes were highly enriched for Hedgehog signaling. Encouraged by the above observation, mice were treated with middle cerebral artery occlusion with the PRMT5 inhibitor EPZ015666 and found that PRMT5 inhibition sustains protection against neuronal death in vivo. Together, these findings revealed a novel epigenetic mechanism of PRMT5 in cerebral ischemia and uncovered a potential target for neuroprotection.

Abstract
Near-infrared light excitable triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion (NIR TTA-UC) materials have attracted interest in a variety of emerging applications such as photoredox catalysis, optogenetics, and stereoscopic 3D printing. Currently, the practical application of NIR TTA-UC materials requires substantial improvement in photostability. Here, we found that the new annihilator of π-expanded diketopyrrolopyrrole (π-DPP) cannot activate oxygen to generate superoxide anion via photoinduced electron transfer, and its electron-deficient characteristics prevent the singlet oxygen-mediated [2 + 2] cycloaddition reaction; thus, π-DPP exhibited superior resistance to photobleaching. In conjunction with the NIR photosensitizer PdTNP, the upconversion efficiency of π-DPP is as high as 8.9%, which is eight times of the previously reported PdPc/Furan-DPP. Importantly, after polystyrene film encapsulation, less than 10% photobleaching was observed for this PdTNP/π-DPP-based NIR TTA-UC material after four hours of intensive NIR light exposure. These findings provide a type of annihilator with extraordinary photostability, facilitating the development of NIR TTA-UC materials for practical photonics.

Abstract
BACKGROUND We investigated if the use of augmented tibial fixation with stems in primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in obese patients was associated with a difference in reason for revision, type of revision, or overall revision rate. METHODS Data from the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry compared reason for revision, rate, and type of revision between primary TKA using stemmed tibial prostheses to nonstemmed prostheses, stratified by body mass index (BMI) and obesity. The cumulative percent revision was obtained using the Kaplan-Meier method, and Cox proportional hazards models estimated hazard ratios (HRs) adjusted for age and sex with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). All tests were 2-tailed at 5% statistical significance (P < .05). There were 66,508 procedures available for analyses. RESULTS Obese class 2 (BMI 35 to 39.99) had higher rates of revision in the stemmed group compared to the nonstemmed group (HR 1.44, 95% CI 1.00, 2.05, P = .047). There was no significant difference in revision rates between stemmed and nonstemmed tibial prostheses in any other BMI group. Primary TKA in obese patients (BMI ≥30) with a stem extension had a significantly higher rate of minor revisions compared to no stem extension (HR 1.31, 95% CI 1.03, 1.66, P = .025). There was no significant difference between stemmed and nonstemmed groups for major revision in obese patients and for minor or major revision in nonobese patients. CONCLUSION Using a tibial stem during primary TKA in obese patients is not associated with a lower rate of revision.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Total elbow replacement (TER) is an accepted treatment for complex intra-articular distal humerus fractures in elderly patients. Distal humeral hemiarthroplasty (HA) is also a potential surgical option for unreconstructable fractures and avoids the concerns regarding mechanical wear and functional restrictions associated with TER. In the current literature, there are limited data available to compare the revision rates of HA and TER for the treatment of fracture. We used data from a large national arthroplasty registry to compare the outcome of HA and TER undertaken for fracture/dislocation and to assess the impact of demographics and implant choice on revision rates. METHODS Data obtained from the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry from May 2, 2005, to December 31, 2021, included all procedures for primary elbow replacement with primary diagnosis of fracture or dislocation. The analyses were performed using Kaplan-Meier estimates of survivorship and hazard ratios (HRs) from Cox proportional hazards models. RESULTS There were 293 primary HA and 631 primary TER procedures included. The cumulative percentage revision (CPR) rate at 9 years was 9.7% for HA (95% confidence interval [CI] 6.0, 15.7), and 11.9% (95% CI 8.5, 16.6) for TER. When adjusted for age and gender, there was a significantly higher risk of revision after 3 months for TER compared to HA (HR 2.47, 95% CI 1.22, 5.03, P = .012). There was no difference in the rate of revision for patients aged <55 years or ≥75 years when HA and TER procedures were compared. In primary TER procedures, loosening was the most common cause of revision (3.6% of primary TER procedures), and the most common type of revision in primary TER involved revision of the humeral component only (2.6% of TER procedures). TER has a higher rate of first revision for loosening compared to HA (HR 4.21, 95% CI 1.29, 13.73; P = .017). In HA procedures, instability (1.7%) was the most common cause for revision. The addition of an ulna component was the most common type of revision (2.4% of all HA procedures). CONCLUSION For the treatment of distal humerus fractures, HA had a lower revision rate than TER after 3 months when adjusted for age and gender. Age <55 or ≥75 years was not a risk factor for revision when HA was compared to TER. Loosening leading to revision is more prevalent in TER and increases with time. In HA, the most common type of revision involved addition of an ulna component with preservation of the humeral component.

Abstract
Sepsis-induced acute kidney injury (SAKI) is a life-threatening condition with complex pathophysiology, often exacerbated by immune cell dysregulation. In this comprehensive study, we leverage publicly available single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) datasets to unravel the intricate immune responses occurring during SAKI, shedding light on macrophages as critical players. Specifically, we identify Saa3, a gene primarily expressed in macrophages, as a potent pro-inflammatory cytokine in SAKI. Saa3hi Ccl2hi monocyte-derived infiltrated macrophages (IMs) emerge as a central effector subset, fostering inflammation, and directly engaging with renal cells. Our findings suggest that Saa3 may be a promising predictive marker of SAKI, although further exploration of human homologs is warranted.

Abstract
Diluted magnetic semiconductors (DMSs) with tunable ferromagnetism are among the most promising materials for fabricating spintronic devices. Some DMS systems have sizeable magnetoresistances that can further extend their applications. Here, we report a new DMS Rb(Zn1-x-yLiyMnx)4As3 with a quasi-two-dimensional structure showing sizeable anisotropies in its ferromagnetism and transverse magnetoresistance (MR). With proper charge and spin doping, single crystals of the DMS display Curie temperatures up to 24 K. Analysis of the critical behavior via Arrott plots confirms the long-range ferromagnetic ordering in the Rb(Zn1-x-yLiyMnx)4As3 single crystals. We observed remarkable intrinsic MR effects in the single crystals (i.e., a positive MR of 85% at 0.4 T and a colossal negative MR of -93% at 7 T).

Abstract
BACKGROUND We compared revision rates and reasons for revision for primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) performed for osteoarthritis with and without tibial stem extensions. METHODS Data from the Australian Orthopaedic Association National Joint Replacement Registry were used to compare all-cause revision, reason, and type of revision between primary TKA using stemmed tibial prostheses and non-stemmed prostheses. RESULTS All-cause revision for TKA with stem extension was higher for the first 6 months (hazard ratio [HR] 1.47; 95% confidence interval [CI]1.19 to 1.82; P < .001); while after 1.5 years TKA with stem extension had a lower rate of revision (HR 0.84; 95% CI 0.73 to 0.97; P = .01). Stemmed components were more likely to be revised for infection between 3 months and 1.5 years after surgery (HR 1.39; 95% CI 1.05 to 1.83; P = .02). The revision rate for aseptic loosening was lower in the stemmed group beyond 2 years (HR = 0.45; 95% CI 0.31 to 0.63; P < .001). Insert-only revision was higher in the stemmed group at all times (HR = 1.42; 95% CI 1.21 to 1.66, P < .001). Isolated tibial component revision was lower in the stemmed group at all times (HR 0.47; 95% CI 0.29 to 0.74; P = .001). Aseptic loosening for tibial component-only revision was significantly lower in the stemmed group at all times (HR 0.23; 95% CI 0.11 to 0.50; P < .001). CONCLUSIONS Patients undergoing primary stemmed TKA have lower rates of all-cause revision beyond 1.5 years and tibial component-only revision at all times. Further investigation is required to preoperatively select patients that benefit from augmentation with stems.

Abstract
In this study, a simple, rapid and sensitive method was developed for the simultaneous determination of chlormequat, fosetyl-aluminium and phosphonic acid residues in maize and soybean using liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Analytes were extracted with acetic acid solution, purified on an HLB column, and then filtered through a 0.2 μm hydrophilic microporous filter membrane. They were then separated on an IC column using a separation phase consisting of polyvinyl alcohol particles with quaternary ammonium groups. The mobile phase optimised with water was denoted as mobile phase A and that optimised with 200 mmol L-1 ammonium bicarbonate solution containing 0.05% ammonium hydroxide was denoted as mobile phase B. The residues were detected by tandem mass spectrometry with negative electrospray ionization in a multi-reaction monitoring mode. The correlation coefficient (R ≥ 0.997) showed good linear regressions for all analytes in water as well as in maize and soybean matrices with a wide dynamic range of 0.001 to 0.5 mg L-1 for calibration. The mean recoveries (RSDs) of the analytes were in the range 85.0-106.4% (5.5-14.9%), 81.7-109.5% (2.7-11.0%) and 74.7-104.4% (2.9-6.1%) at three concentration levels (0.05, 0.1 and 1 mg kg-1) for the interday test (n = 15). The limit of quantification (LOQ) and detection (LOD) of the method for different matrices were 0.01 and 0.003 mg kg-1, respectively. In conclusion, the established analytical approach has high sensitivity and good accuracy and precision and is suitable for monitoring chlormequat, fosetyl-aluminium and phosphonic acid residues in maize and soybean.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the role of parameters of iron metabolism in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). METHOD This was a prospective observational study recruiting patients diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension (SLE-PAH). Patients with other factors that might lead to PAH were excluded from the study. All patients were assessed for PAH every 1-3 months and were followed up for 6 months. The primary outcome was considered improved if the grade of risk stratification declined at the endpoint; otherwise, it was considered unimproved. RESULTS In total, 29 patients with SLE-PAH were included in this study. The mean of serum ferritin was higher than normal, and total iron binding capacity (TIBC) decreased in 48% of patients. Correlation analyses showed that serum iron (SI) was negatively correlated with World Health Organization functional class (WHO-FC) (r = -0.409, p = 0.028), and positively correlated with Six-Minute Walk Test distance (6MWD) (r = 0.427, p = 0.021) and tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) (r = 0.388, p = 0.037). Primary outcomes improved in 12 patients at the endpoint, and univariate logistic regression analyses indicated that TIBC was associated with improved primary outcomes in patients with SLE-PAH (odds ratio 12.00, 95% confidence interval 1.90-75.72). CONCLUSION SI was negatively correlated with WHO-FC, and positively correlated with 6MWD and TAPSE. Furthermore, TIBC was associated with improved outcomes of patients with SLE-PAH, which could be an independent predictor of prognosis. Further research is needed to verify the findings.

Abstract
2D metal-organic frameworks-based (2D MOF-related) materials benefit from variable topological structures, plentiful open active sites, and high specific surface areas, demonstrating promising applications in gas storage, adsorption and separation, energy conversion, and other domains. In recent years, researchers have innovatively designed multiple strategies to avoid the adverse effects of conventional methods on the synthesis of high-quality 2D MOFs. This review focuses on the latest advances in creative synthesis techniques for 2D MOF-related materials from both the top-down and bottom-up perspectives. Subsequently, the strategies are categorized and summarized for synthesizing 2D MOF-related composites and their derivatives. Finally, the current challenges are highlighted faced by 2D MOF-related materials and some targeted recommendations are put forward to inspire researchers to investigate more effective synthesis methods.

Abstract
Herein, the electrodeposition of paracetamol oxide (PA ox) for the intelligent portable ratiometric detection of nicotine (NIC) and ethyl vanillin β-D-glucoside (EVG) is reported. PA ox electrodeposited on a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE) was used as a new fixed state ratiometric reference probe. A portable electrochemical workstation combined with a smart phone was applied as an intelligent portable electrochemical sensing platform. The sensor was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FT-IR), ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry (UV-vis), theoretical calculation, chronoamperometry, cyclic voltammetry (CV), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and square wave voltammetry (SWV). Under optimized conditions, the detection range of NIC is 10-200 μmol L-1, and the detection limit is 0.256 μmol L-1. The detection range of EVG was 10-180 μmol L-1, and the detection limit was 0.058 μmol L-1. The sensor can realize the real-time detection of NIC and EVG concentration in cigarette samples quickly and accurately, and has good anti-interference, repeatability and stability.

Abstract
Purpose Telemedicine are experiencing an unprecedented boom globally since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. As the most vulnerable groups amid COVID-19, the digital delivery of healthcare poses great challenges to the elderly population, caregiver, health service providers, and health policy makers. To bridge the service delivery gaps between the telemedicine demand side and supply side, explore evidence-based approach for integrated care, address challenges for aging policy, and build foundation for the development of data-driven and community-based telemedicine, our R&D team applied translational research to design and develop telemedicine "SMART" for enhancing elderly mental health wellbeing amid COVID-19. Our aim is to investigate the preparedness mechanisms of mental health disease including response, intervention, and connection these three healthcare delivery pipelines with the collection, consolidation, and synergy of heath parameters and social determinants, using data analytics approach to achieve Evidence-Based Medicine (EBM). Methods A mix of quantitative and qualitative research design for scientifically rigorous consultation and analysis was conducted from Jan 2020 to June 2021 in Hong Kong. An exploratory and descriptive qualitative design was used in this study. The data were collected through focus group discussions conducted from elderly and their caregivers living in 10 main districts of Hong Kong. Our research pilot tested "SMART" targeting for elderly with mental health improvement needs. Baseline questionnaire with 110 tele-medicine product users includes questions on demographic information, self-rated mental health digital adoption. The follow-up five focus group discussions with 57 users (elderly and their caregivers) further explore the social determinants of telemedicine transformation and help propose the integrated telemedicine paradigm shift framework establishment, development, and enhancement. Results Grounded on the baseline needs assessment and feedbacks collected, it is evident that multi-dimensional health information from the four various streams (community, clinic, home, remote) and customized digital health solutions are playing a key role in addressing elderly mental health digital service needs and bridging digital divide. The designed tele-medicine product lines up health service provider (supplier side) and elderly specific needs (demand side) with our three-level design, enables elderly and their families to follow and control their own health management and connect with the service provider, community of practice (CoP), and health policy makers. Conclusion It's beneficial to involve elderly and gerontechnology stakeholders as part of Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) before and throughout the developing and delivery phases an integrated and age-friendly digital intervention. The challenges in applying and disseminating telemedicine reflected by the elderly and caregivers can be used as important input for further development and indicators for the sustainable and integrated elderly primary care framework. Abstract
BACKGROUND Periodontitis often leads to progressive destruction and loss of alveolar bone, the reconstruction of which remains difficult in periodontal therapy. As a novel bone graft material, tooth-derived bone substitute (TDBS) processed from extracted teeth has been previously reported about its osteoconductivity and promising results in bone regeneration. This study was to investigate the biological effects and bone regeneration properties of TDBS in vitro and in vivo using rat periodontal bone defect model. METHODS Three groups of materials were used in the experiments: TDBS, TDBS treated with ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) (TDBS-E), and allogeneic bone materials. Calcium (Ca) and phosphate (P) ion dissolutions were quantified by spectrophotometer for seven days. The releases of bone morphogenetic protein-2 (BMP-2) and transforming growth factor-β1 (TGF-β1) were identified by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Human osteoblast proliferation, migration, and differentiation were detected by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) assay, cell counting, alkaline phosphatase activity (ALP), and alizarin red staining (ARS), respectively. Furthermore, the osteogenic effects of TDBS on periodontal furcation bone defects were evaluated at eight weeks postoperatively using micro-computed tomography (Micro-CT) and histological analysis. RESULTS The dissolution of both Ca and P ions in TDBS increased over time. The BMP-2 released from TDBS was significantly higher than that from TDBS-E and allografts, while the TGF-β1 release from TDBS and TDBS-E groups was higher than that in the allografts. The TDBS-E group could induce the highest level of osteoblast proliferation compared to other groups. Cell migration with allografts co-culture was significantly induced compared to the blank control. However, all groups demonstrated similar positive effects on osteoblast differentiation. Furthermore, in the periodontal model, all materials could effectively enhance bone regeneration in the furcation defect. CONCLUSIONS The TDBS prepared chairside as an autogenous bone graft, demonstrating osteoinductivity, which enhances the osteogenic biological characteristics. Therefore, TDBS is suggested as an economical and biocompatible material for periodontal bone regeneration.

Abstract
PURPOSE Skin cutaneous melanoma (SKCM) is a highly aggressive melanocytic carcinoma whose high heterogeneity and complex etiology make its prognosis difficult to predict. This study aimed to construct a risk subtype typing model for SKCM. METHODS The study proposes a deep learning framework combining early fusion feature autoencoder (AE) and late fusion feature AE for risk subtype prediction of SKCM. The deep learning framework integrates mRNA, miRNA, and DNA methylation data of SKCM patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), and clusters the screened multi-omics features associated with survival prognosis to identify risk subtypes. Differential expression analysis and functional enrichment analysis were performed between risk subtypes, while SVM classifiers were constructed between differentially expressed genes (DEGs) obtained by Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator (LASSO) logistic regression screening and risk subtype labels inferred from multi-omics data, and the predictive robustness of risk subtypes inferred from the risk subtype classification prediction model was validated using two independent datasets. RESULTS The deep learning framework that combined early fusion feature AE with late fusion feature AE distinguished the two best risk subtypes compared to the multi-omics integration approach with single strategy AE or PCA. A promising C-index (C-index = 0.748) and a significant difference in survival (log-rank P value = 4.61 × 10-9) were found between the identified risk subtypes. The DEGs with the top significance values together with differentially expressed miRNAs provided the biological interpretation of risk subtypes on SKCM. Finally, the framework was applied to predict risk subtypes in two independent test datasets of SKCM patients, all of which showed good predictive power (C-index > 0.680) and significant survival differences (log-rank P value < 0.01). CONCLUSION The SKCM risk subtypes identified by integrating multi-omics data based on deep learning can not only improve the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of SKCM, but also provide clinicians with assistance in treatment decisions.

Abstract
The use of conductive MOFs (c-MOFs) in zinc-based batteries has been a popular research direction. Zinc-based batteries are widely used with the advantages of high specific capacity and safety and stability, but they also face many problems. c-MOFs have excellent conductivity compared with other primitive MOFs, and therefore have better applications in zinc-based batteries. In this paper, the transfer mechanisms of the unique charges of c-MOFs: hop transport and band transport, respectively, are discussed and the way of electron transport is further addressed. Then, the various ways to prepare c-MOFs are introduced, among which solvothermal, interfacial synthesis, and postprocessing methods are widely used. In addition, the applications of c-MOFs are discussed in terms of their role and performance in different types of zinc-based batteries. Finally, the current problems of c-MOFs and the prospects for their future development are presented.

Abstract
Background Immunotherapy has had a high success rate in treating lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) for several decades. However, many patients do not benefit from immunotherapy alone. Recent studies revealed that a combination of immunotherapy and radiotherapy (RT) stimulates a good systemic immune response to LUAD. However, clinical and experimental evidence suggest that RT may give rise to primary immunodeficiency, facilitating tumor immunity escape. Little is known about the molecular mechanisms whereby RT and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) influence tumor immunogenicity and the effectiveness of immunotherapy in patients with LUAD. Methods We investigated molecular markers that predict response to combination of immunotherapy and SBRT in the treatment of LUAD using bioinformatics. Results SBRT significantly upregulated the expression of PTPRC, LILRB2, TLR8, CCR5, and PLEK and significantly downregulated the expression of CXCL13, CD19, and LTA. Among these genes, the expression of PTPRC, TLR8, and CCR5 was associated with responsiveness to immunotherapy after SBRT. However, only TLR8 and CCR5 expression were associated with an improved prognosis. Further analysis revealed that TLR8 and CCR5 expression increased responsiveness to immunotherapy by promoting M0 macrophage and memory B cell infiltration of LUAD tissues. Conclusions In patients with LUAD, TLR8 and CCR5 expression are potential markers of a favorable response to combined immunotherapy and RT.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Transcutaneous vagus nerve stimulation has shown promising results in improving cognitive and motor function after stroke. However, to our knowledge, there have been no studies in the modulation of the cervical vagus nerve using repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) with cognitive dysfunction. Thus, we conducted a single-arm feasibility trial to assess the safety and effectiveness of rTMS of the vagus nerve in patients with TBI. MATERIALS AND METHODS We enrolled ten patients with TBI and administered half-hour vagus nerve magnetic stimulation (VNMS) sessions for ten days to evaluate the feasibility of the treatment. The Montreal cognitive assessment-Beijing (MoCA-B), the Digit Span Test, and the Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT) were used to measure cognitive function before and after the VNMS treatment. Physiological parameters of all subjects were assessed by electrocardiogram. RESULTS The findings showed that daily half-hour VNMS for ten days was feasible in patients with TBI, with minimal side effects and no clinically significant effects on physiological parameters. Eight patients showed improvement in MoCA-B, and five patients showed improvement in immediate memory as measured by AVLT. CONCLUSIONS We conclude that VNMS is a safe and feasible treatment option for patients with TBI with cognitive dysfunction. However, further controlled studies are necessary to establish the efficacy of VNMS in promoting cognitive recovery after TBI. SIGNIFICANCE This study is, to our knowledge, the first study to investigate the feasibility of VNMS for cognitive dysfunction in patients with TBI. Our findings offer the possibility of rTMS applied to the vagus nerve in clinical practice.

Abstract
The mean square synchronization problem of the complex dynamical network (CDN) with the stochastic link dynamics is investigated. In contrast to previous literature, the CDN considered in this paper can be viewed as consisting of two subsystems coupled to each other. One subsystem consists of all nodes, referred to as the nodes subsystem, and the other consists of all links, referred to as the network topology subsystem, where the weighted values can quantitatively reflect changes in the network's topology. Based on the above understanding of CDN, two vector stochastic differential equations with Brownian motion are used to model the dynamic behaviors of nodes and links, respectively. The control strategy incorporates not only the controller in the nodes but also the coupling term in the links, through which the CDN is synchronized in the mean-square sense. Meanwhile, the dynamic stochastic signal is proposed in this paper, which is regarded as the auxiliary reference tracking target of links, such that the links can track the reference target asymptotically when synchronization occurs in nodes. This implies that the eventual topological structure of CDN is stochastic. Finally, a comparison simulation example confirms the superiority of the control strategy in this paper.

Abstract
The impact of primary metabolites of organophosphate triesters (tri-OPEs), namely, organophosphate diesters (di-OPEs), on the ecology, environment, and humans cannot be ignored. While extensive studies have been conducted on tri-OPEs, research on the environmental occurrence, toxicity, and health risks of di-OPEs is still in the preliminary stage. Understanding the current research status of di-OPEs is crucial for directing future investigations on the production, distribution, and risks associated with environmental organophosphate esters (OPEs). This paper specifically reviews the metabolization process from tri-OPEs to di-OPEs and the occurrence of di-OPEs in environmental media and organisms, proposes typical di-OPEs in different media, and classifies their toxicological and epidemiological findings. Through a comprehensive analysis, six di-OPEs were identified as typical di-OPEs that require prioritized research. These include di-n-butyl phosphate (DNBP), bis(2-butoxyethyl) phosphate (BBOEP), bis(1,3-dichloro-2-propyl) phosphate (BDCIPP), bis(2-chloroethyl) phosphate (BCEP), bis(1-chloro-2-propyl) phosphate (BCIPP), and diphenyl phosphate (DPHP). This review provides new insights for subsequent toxicological studies on these typical di-OPEs, aiming to improve our understanding of their current status and provide guidance and ideas for research on the toxicity and health risks of di-OPEs. Ultimately, this review aims to enhance the risk warning system of environmental OPEs.

Abstract
We perform optical-tweezers experiments and mesoscale fluid simulations to study the effective interactions between two parallel plates immersed in bacterial suspensions. The plates are found to experience a long-range attraction, which increases linearly with bacterial density and decreases with plate separation. The higher bacterial density and orientation order between plates observed in the experiments imply that the long-range effective attraction mainly arises from the bacterial flow field, instead of the direct bacterium-plate collisions, which is confirmed by the simulations. Furthermore, the hydrodynamic contribution is inversely proportional to the squared interplate separation in the far field. Our findings highlight the importance of hydrodynamics on the effective forces between passive objects in active baths, providing new possibilities to control activity-directed assembly.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is still a public health emergency of international concern. However, whether pregnancy and menopause impact the severity of COVID-19 remain unclear. AIM This study is performed to investigate the truth. DESIGN Study appraisal and synthesis follows PRISMA guideline. Meta-analysis is performed in random-effects model. METHODS PubMed, Embase, Cochrane database, Central, CINAHL, ClinicalTrials.gov, WHO COVID-19 database and WHO-ICTRP are searched until 28 March 2023. RESULTS In total, 57 studies (4 640 275 COVID-19 women) were analyzed. Pregnant women were at a lower risk of severe COVID-19, intensive care unit (ICU) admission and disease mortality compared to those nonpregnant women with comparable comorbidities. In contrast, pregnant women with more prepregnancy comorbidities were at a higher risk of severe COVID-19, ICU admission and invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV). In addition, pregnant women with pregnancy complications had a significantly increased risk of severe COVID-19 and ICU admission. Menopause increased COVID-19 severity, IMV requirement and disease mortality. Hormone replacement therapy inhibited COVID-19 severity in postmenopausal women. Premenopausal and postmenopausal women had a lower chance of severe illness than age-matched men. The impact of pregnancy on COVID-19 severity was significant in Americans and Caucasians, whereas the effect of menopause on COVID-19 severity was only significant in Chinese. CONCLUSIONS Pregnancy and menopause are protective and risk factors for severe COVID-19, respectively. The protective role of pregnancy on COVID-19 is minimal and could be counteracted or masked by prepregnancy or pregnancy comorbidities. The administration of estrogen and progesterone may prevent severe COVID-19.

Abstract
As the demand for fuel continues to increase, the development of energy devices with excellent performance is crucial. Supercapacitors (SCs) are attracting attention for their advantages of high specific energy and a long cycle life. At present, the development of high-performance electrode materials is the main point for research and development of SCs. Transition metal sulfides have the advantages of a large interlayer space and high theoretical capacity, making them promising electrode materials. Herein, we reported a series of ultrathin mesoporous iron family element (Fe, Co, Ni) molybdenum disulfide (MxMo1-xS2/C, M = Fe, Co, and Ni) by a template method. The original monolayer mesoporous structure of MoS2/C was maintained, and accumulation and agglomeration of MoS2/C were avoided. Based on our investigations, the best performance was that of CoxMo1-xS2/C nanohybrids. Furthermore, the concentrations of Co and Mo ions were modulated to obtain the best performance, in which Mo and Co ions were released at 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3 ratios and they were named CoxMo1-xS2/C-1, CoxMo1-xS2/C-2, and CoxMo1-xS2/C-3, respectively. Overall, these materials represent a significant improvement and show promise as high-performance SC electrode materials due to their enhanced capacitance and stability. At a current density of 0.5 A g-1, CoxMo1-xS2/C-2 has the optimal specific capacitance of 184 F g-1. CoxMo1-xS2/C-2 as an SC electrode exhibited better reversible capacity and cycling stability than MoS2/C, which is an improvement over MoS2/C regarding reversible capacity and cycling stability.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Online medical crowdfunding has gained popularity in recent years in China. The objective of this study was to identify unmet medical needs in the public healthcare system through analysis of Chinese medical crowdfunding data. STUDY DESIGN Text information extraction and statistical analysis based on large-scale data. METHODS From 19 June 2011 to 15 March 2020, data from 30,704 medical crowdfunding projects were collected from Tencent GongYi, which is one of the largest Chinese medical crowdfunding platforms. Text mining methods were used to extract data on the medical conditions and locations of the applicants of medical crowdfunding. In addition, 125 medical crowdfunding projects initiated by leukaemia patients in Chongqing and Nanyang were further investigated through manual data extraction, and the factors impacting the fundraising goals were explored using a generalised linear model. RESULTS The most common conditions using medical crowdfunding to raise funds were as follows: cancer (31.87%), chronic conditions (18.14%), accidental injury (7.80%) and blood system-related conditions (7.75%). Treatments for cancer and blood system-related conditions are expensive and have serious long-term impacts on the lives of patients. Results showed that the cities of Nanyang and Chongqing had the largest number of crowdfunding projects. CONCLUSIONS This study found that the medical conditions that prompted individuals to apply for crowdfunding were those with long treatment cycles, complexities and expensive medical or non-medical costs. Furthermore, discrepancies in health insurance policies between different regions and residents seeking treatments outside their insurance locations were also important factors that triggered medical crowdfunding applications. Adjusting health insurance policies accordingly may improve the efficiency of utilising health insurance resources and reduce the financial burden on patients.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Immune microenvironment is closely related to the efficacy of PD-1 inhibitors. The immune microenvironment contains a variety of immune cells, including effector T cells (cytotoxic CD8+T cells and effector CD4+T cells), dendritic cells (DC), and Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs). The antitumor effects of PRaG therapy have been confirmed in bilateral subcutaneous transplantation tumor model of colon cancer. But the impact of PRaG therapy on immune microenvironment of such model is unclear. Therefore, the study continued to reveal the changes of immune microenvironment in mice. MATERIALS/METHODS 80 male Balb/c mice aged 6-8 weeks were divided into five groups: control group, PD-1 inhibitor group, radiation group, radiation + PD-1 inhibitor group, and radiation + PD-1 inhibitor +GM-CSF (PRaG therapy) group. Bilateral subcutaneous tumor model of colon cancer in mice was constructed. 3×105 CT26.WT cells were inoculated subcutaneously in the right thigh root, and then the left thigh root 3 days later. Right subcutaneous tumor was selected for radiotherapy of 8 Gy×3. GM-CSF (100ng, i.p.) was given on the 1st day and PD-1 inhibitor (0.25mg/kg, i.p.) was given on the 2nd day after radiotherapy with one cycle every 3 days. On day 15, the spleen, left inguinal lymph node and left subcutaneous tumor of mice were collected. The proportion of immune cells was detected by flow cytometry. RESULTS Compared with other groups, PRaG therapy decreased the proportion of cDC1 in left inguinal lymph node, increased the proportion of cDC2 in left subcutaneous tumor and left inguinal lymph node. Moreover, PRaG therapy increased the proportion of CD8+ effector memory T cells and CD226+CD8+T cells in left inguinal lymph nodes. Finally, PRaG therapy increased the proportion of CD4+, CD8+ central memory T cells and CD69+CD8+T cells and reduced the proportion of M-MDSCs in spleen. CONCLUSION PRaG therapy can improve the immune microenvironment of spleen, unirradiated tumors and inguinal draining lymph nodes of bilateral subcutaneous tumor model of colon cancer in mice.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) The application of deep learning to generate synthetic CT (sCT) has been widely studied in radiotherapy. Existing methods generally involve data from two different image modalities, such as CBCT-CT or MRI-CT, the quality of sCT is adversely affected by source image quality. We propose a unique method of synthesizing MRI and CBCT into sCT based on single-modal CT for training, and call it SmGAN. MATERIALS/METHODS We used planning CT of a group of 35 head and neck cases to as training data. We then applied two different spatial transformations to the planning CT image to produce the transformed CT1 and CT2. And We used a random style enhancement technique (Shuffle Remap) to modify the image distribution of CT1 which we termed CT1+E. CT1+E was used to simulate the patient's "image of the day" while CT2 to simulate the "planning image". After feeding both CT1+E and CT2 into the generator, we obtained the sCT predicted by the generator. The generator was trained using the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) loss between sCT and CT1. In the actual clinical process, we use the patient's CBCT or MRI instead of CT1+E and the patient's planning CT instead of CT2 as the input of the generator. After processing, we get an sCT that can maintain the spatial position of the image taken on the day, while presenting features similar to the planning CT. The evaluation data we have includes 10 pairs of MRI-Def_CT and 10 pairs of CBCT-Def_CT Head and Neck patients. Def_CT is obtained from the planning CT based on the spatial position deformation of MRI and CBCT. To evaluate the accuracy of sCT based on MRI and CBCT with Def CT, we use a range of metrics, including Hounsfield Unit (HU) difference, peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity (SSIM) and gamma pass rate. All results will be benchmarks against the advanced method RegGAN for comparison. RESULTS Compared to RegGAN, the results of SmGAN were significantly better. The mean absolute errors within the body were (44.7±216.2 HU vs. 36.7±131.4 HU) and (64.9±123.7 HU vs. 58.2±152.8 HU) for the CBCT-SCT and MRI-SCT, respectively (Table 1). In addition, experimental results show that SmGAN also outperforms RegGAN in dose calculation accuracy. For example, under the 10% threshold, SmGAN's gamma pass rate of 1mm and 1% is 0.926±0.02, compared with gamma rate of 0.896±0.02 for RegGAN. CONCLUSION We proposed a generalized deep learning model for synthetic CT generation, based on CBCT or MRI images. The proposed algorithm achieved high accuracy of dosimetric metrics, as well as excellent IMRT QA verification results. Compared to other existing synthetic CT generation methods, the proposed SmGAN required a single-modal image for training, which is considered as a major breakthrough in the industry, and is expected to have wide spread of clinical applications.

Abstract
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) MRI-based synthetic CT (SCT) images created using generative adversarial network (GAN) have been demonstrated to be feasible for intensity-modulated proton therapy (IMPT) planning. However, dose calculation accuracy can be uncertain in some regions within/near the target of head and neck patients due to the local CT number estimation error or sharp dose fall-off. This study investigated the feasibility of using the SPArc technique to mitigate such dosimetric uncertainty. MATERIALS/METHODS A GAN using a 3D U-net as the generator and a 6-layer 3D convolutional neural network as the discriminator was trained with T1-weighted MR-CT image pairs from 162 nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients (14 for validation). The generator was used to generate SCT images from MR images for 7 test patients. For each test patient, the CT image was used to create a SPArc plan and an IMPT plan with the same clinical objectives. The SPArc plans (control point frequency sampling, arc trajectory, etc.) were optimized using a previously developed iterative approach. The dose distributions of both SPArc plans and IMPT plans were re-calculated on the SCT images and compared to the one calculated on the CT images. The dosimetric uncertainty was quantified using the gamma index. RESULTS The 2%/2mm and 3%/3mm passing rates for SPArc plans were (96.9¡À2.7) % and (98.6¡À1.5) %, while the passing rates for IMPT plans were (94.0¡À3.9) % and (96.4+2.9) %. A significant reduction in dosimetric uncertainty was identified for SPArc plans (p ¡Ü0.021). Table 1 shows the passing rates for the 7 test individuals. CONCLUSION SPArc can mitigate the uncertainty of dose calculation in MRI-based proton planning. Further research needs to validate these findings on a larger patient cohort. The study paves the road map for using MRI for SPArc planning.

Abstract
AIM To use multidetector row computed tomography (MDCT)-derived tricuspid annulus (TA) measurements to identify predictors for tricuspid regurgitation (TR) reduction after transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR), and to investigate the impact of TR change on prognosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS A retrospective, single-centre study was conducted on consecutive patients who underwent TAVR with concomitant baseline mild or more severe TR from April 2012 to April 2022. TA parameters were measured using MDCT. RESULTS The study comprised 266 patients (mean age 74.2 ± 7.6 years, 147 men) and 45.1% had more than one grade of TR reduction at follow-up. Independent predictors of TR reduction at follow-up were distance between TA centroid and antero-septal commissure (odd ratio [OR] 0.776; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.672-0.896, p=0.001), baseline TR of moderate or worse (OR 4.599; 95% CI: 2.193-9.648, p<0.001), systolic pulmonary artery pressure (OR 1.018; 95% CI: 1.002-1.035, p=0.027), age (OR 0.955; 95% CI: 0.920-0.993, p=0.019), and pre-existing atrial fibrillation (OR 0.209; 95% CI: 0.101-0.433, p<0.001). Patients without TR reduction had higher rates of rehospitalisation (hazard ratio [HR] 0.642; 95% CI: 0.413-0.998, p=0.049). CONCLUSIONS The MDCT-derived TA parameter was predictive of TR reduction after TAVR. Persistent TR after TAVR was associated with higher rates of rehospitalisation.

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Immune cells in peripheral blood may be closely related to the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors. T cells originally present in tumors may have limited antitumor effects, and T cells that respond to immune checkpoint inhibitors may be derived from peripheral blood. Therefore, in this study, subcutaneous tumor peritoneal metastasis model of colon cancer was constructed to reveal the changes of T cells and their subsets (CD4+T cells, CD8+T cells, CD226+T cells), MDSCs and their subsets (G-MDSCs, M-MDSCs) in peripheral blood of mice after PRaG therapy. MATERIALS/METHODS A total of 90 male Balb/c mice aged 6-8 weeks were divided into five groups: control group, PD-1 inhibitor group, radiation group, radiation + PD-1 inhibitor group, and radiation + PD-1 inhibitor +GM-CSF (PRaG therapy) group. The subcutaneous tumor peritoneal metastasis model of colon cancer was constructed. 3×105 CT26.WT cells was inoculated subcutaneously at the right thigh root, and 5 days later, 1×105 CT26.WT cells was inoculated on the left side at the junction of the anterior superior iliac spine and the midabdominal line. The subcutaneous tumor was selected for radiotherapy of 8 Gy×3. GM-CSF (100ng, i.p.) was given on the 1st day and PD-1 inhibitor (0.25mg/kg, i.p.) was given on the 2nd day after radiotherapy with one cycle every 3 days. On day 22, the peripheral blood of mice was collected. The proportion of immune cells was detected by flow cytometry. RESULTS Compared with other groups, PRaG therapy decreased the proportion of CD4+T cells and increased the proportion of CD8+T cells. Moreover, PRaG therapy increased the proportion of CD226+CD4+T cells and CD226+CD8+T cells. Finally, PRaG therapy increased the proportion of M-MDSCs and decreased the proportion of G-MDSCs. CONCLUSION PRaG therapy can improve the immune microenvironment of peripheral blood of subcutaneous tumor peritoneal metastasis model of colon cancer in mice.

PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE(S) Re-radiotherapy (re-RT) is the main treatment for locally recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma (lrNPC) patients, and commonly led to radiation-induced nasopharyngeal (NP) necrosis, which was lethal but rare study has focused on it. The aim of this study was to evaluate the cause and impact of radiation-induced NP necrosis in lrNPC patients who received re-RT. MATERIALS/METHODS Totally 252 lrNPC patients who received re-RT between January 2013 and December 2020 were retrospectively collected. The inclusion criteria were as follows: (1) no NP necrosis before re-RT; (2) complete medical records, including treatment, clinical and dosimetric information; (3) conventional fractionated radiotherapy. All patients received intensity-modulated radiotherapy ± chemotherapy. Radiation-induced NP necrosis was diagnosed by magnetic resonance imaging and/or electronic nasopharyngoscopy. Dosimetric factors of the planning target volume of primary tumor (PTVp) were extracted from the dose-volume histogram (DVH), which was rescaled to an equivalent dose of 2 Gy per fraction (EQD 2 Gy) using a linear quadratic model. Logistic regression was used to identify the independent prognostic factors for generating the nomogram. RESULTS With a median follow-up of 44.63 months (inter-quartile range [IQR], 27.70 - 69.20 months), 47.6% of patients (120/252) occurred radiation-induced NP necrosis, which mostly happened within 1 year post re-RT (median [IQR], 5.83 [3.37 - 11.57] months). The 3-year overall survival was 83.0% vs 39.7% (P<0.001) in lrNPC patients with or without radiation-induced NP necrosis. Except for the fractionated dose, other dosimetric factors of PTVp were not significantly different between two groups, including D98 (dose to 98% of PTVp), D50, D2 and homogeneity index (Table 1). Furthermore, multivariate analysis showed that continuous variable age (HR [95% CI]: 1.04 [1.02 - 1.07], P = 0.003) and tumor volume (HR [95% CI]: 1.02 [1.01 - 1.03], P<0.001), and fractionated dose > 2.22 Gy (HR [95% CI]: 2.36 [1.32 - 4.21], P = 0.004) were independent factors in predicting radiation-induced NP necrosis, which yielded a C-index of 0.742 (95% CI, 0.682 - 0.803) for OS in the nomogram. CONCLUSION The incidence of radiation-induced NP necrosis was high in lrNPC patients who received re-RT. Patients with older age, larger tumor volume or receiving fractionated dose over 2.22 Gy were more easily to suffer NP necrosis, which need to explore novel treatment strategies to improve patients' survivals.

Abstract
The structure and electronic properties of two-dimensional vertical van der Waals PtSe2/Hf2CO2 heterostructure have been investigated based on first-principles calculations. The results show that the PtSe2 and Hf2CO2 monolayers form a type-I heterostructure with both the conduction band minimum (CBM) and valence band maximum (VBM) located at the Hf2CO2 layer. The electronic properties of PtSe2/Hf2CO2 heterostructure can be effectively adjusted by applying external electric field or biaxial strain. The transition in band alignment from type-I to type-II can be manipulated by controlling the strength and direction of the electric field. Additionally, the transition from type-I to type-II have also taken place under the strains, and the band gap of the PtSe2/Hf2CO2 heterostructure decreases with increasing the compressive or tensible strain. Under a strong strain of -8%, the PtSe2/Hf2CO2 heterostructure can transform from semiconductor to metal. These findings provide a promising method to tune the electronic properties of PtSe2/Hf2CO2 heterostructure and design a new vdW heterostructure in the applications for electronic and optoelectronic devices.
