Abstract
The host-guest inclusion strategy has the potential to surpass the limitations of energy density and suboptimal performances of single explosives. The guest molecules can not only enhance the detonation performance of host explosives but also can enhance their stability. Therefore, a deep analysis of the role of guest influence on the pyrolysis decomposition of the host-guest explosive is necessary. The whole decomposition reaction stage of CL-20/H2O, CL-20/CO2, CL-20/N2O, CL-20/NH2OH was calculated by ReaxFF-MD. The incorporation of CO2, N2O and NH2OH significantly increase the energy levels of CL-20. However, different guests have little influence on the initial decomposition paths of CL-20. The Ea1 and Ea2 values of CL-20/CO2, CL-20/N2O, CL-20/NH2OH systems are higher than the CL-20/H2O system. Clearly, incorporation of CO2, N2O, NH2OH can inhibit the initial decomposition and intermediate decomposition stage of CL-20/H2O. Guest molecules become heavily involved in the reaction and influence on the reaction rates. k1 of CL-20/N2O and CL-20/NH2OH systems are significantly larger than that of CL-20/H2O at high temperatures. k1 of CL-20/CO2 system is very complex, which can be affected deeply by temperatures. k2 of the CL-20/CO2, CL-20/N2O systems is significantly smaller than that of CL-20/H2O at high temperatures. k2 of CL-20/NH2OH system shows little difference at high temperatures. For the CL-20/CO2 system, the k3 value of CO2 is slightly higher than that for CL-20/H2O, CL-20/N2O, CL-20/NH2OH systems, while the k3 values of N2 and H2O are slightly smaller than that for the CL-20/H2O, CL-20/N2O, CL-20/NH2OH systems. For the CL-20/N2O system, the k3 value of CO2 is slightly smaller than that for CL-20/H2O, CL-20/CO2, CL-20/NH2OH systems. For the CL-20/NH2OH system, the k3 value of H2O is slightly larger than that for CL-20/H2O, CL-20/CO2, CL-20/N2O systems. These mechanisms revealed that CO2, N2O and NH2OH molecules inhibit the early stages of the initial decomposition of CL-20 and play an important role for the decomposition subsequently.

Abstract
In the niche area of energetic materials, a balance between energy and safety is extremely important. To address this "energy-safety contradiction", energetic cocrystals have been introduced. The investigation of the synthesis methods, characteristics, and efficacy of energetic cocrystals is of the utmost importance for optimizing their design and development. This review covers (i) various synthesis methods for energetic cocrystals; (ii) discusses their characteristics such as structural properties, detonation performance, sensitivity analysis, thermal properties, and morphology mapping, along with other properties such as oxygen balance, solubility, and fluorescence; and (iii) performance with respect to energy contents (detonation velocity and pressure) and sensitivity. This is followed by concluding remarks together with future perspectives.

Abstract
In spite of their exceptional performance, energetic peroxosolvates are rare. Research in this area is slowed by the poor availibility of concentrated hydrogen peroxide solutions. Presented here is an efficient peroxosolvate discovery method that is applied in the discovery of the first ternary cocrystal comprising only energetic components.

Abstract
The contradiction between energy and safety of explosives is better balanced by the host-guest inclusion strategy. To deeply analyze the role of small guest molecules in the host-guest system, we first investigated the intermolecular contacts of host and guest molecules through Hirshfeld surfaces, 2-D fingerprint plots and electrostatic interaction energy. We then examined the strength and nature of the intermolecular interactions between CL-20 and various small molecules in detail, using state-of-the-art quantum chemistry calculations and elaborate wavefunction analyses. Finally, we studied the effect of the small molecules on the properties of CL-20, using density functional theory (DFT). The results showed that the spatial arrangement of host and guest molecules and the interaction between host and guest molecules, such as repulsion or attraction, may depend on the properties of the guest molecules, such as polarity, oxidation, hydrogen content, etc. The insertion of H2O2, H2O, N2O, and CO2 had significant influence on the electrostatic potential (ESP), van der Waals (vdW) potential and chemical bonding of CL-20. The intermolecular interactions, electric density and crystal orbital Hamilton population (COHP) clarified and quantified the stabilization effect of different small molecules on CL-20. The insertion of the guest molecules improved the stability of CL-20 to different extents, of which H2O2 worked best.

Abstract
An H2 O2 molecule was isolated inside hydroxylated open-cage fullerene derivatives by mixing an H2 O2 solution with a precursor molecule followed by reduction of one of carbonyl groups on its orifice. Depending on the reduction site, two structural isomers for H2 O2 @open-fullerenes were obtained. A high encapsulation ratio of 81 % was attained at low temperature. The structures of the peroxosolvate complexes thus obtained were studied by 1 H NMR spectroscopy, X-ray analysis, and DFT calculations, showing strong hydrogen bonding between the encapsulated H2 O2 and the hydroxy group located at the center of the orifice. This OH group was found to act as a kinetic stopper, and the formation of the hydrogen bonding caused thermodynamic stabilization of the H2 O2 molecule, both of which prevent its escape from the cage. One of the peroxosolvates was isolated by HPLC, affording H2 O2 @open-fullerene with 100 % encapsulation ratio, likely due to the intramolecular hydrogen-bonding interaction.

Abstract
The current focus on both environmental and general safety is an important issue in the field of explosives. As such, environmentally-friendly explosives, based on hydrogen peroxide (HTP) as an oxidising agent, are of significant interest. These explosives can be designed to undergo self-deactivation, denying access to them by any unlawful third parties that may attempt scavenging blasting sites for any residual energetic materials. Such deactivation also improves blasting safety, as, after a set time, misfired charges no longer pose any explosive threat. In this work, we have designed HTP-based explosive formulations that undergo deactivation after approximately 12 h. To this effect, Al powders were used both as fuels and HTP decomposition promoters. The shock wave parameters and ability to perform mechanical work of the proposed explosive formulations are comparable to those of dynamites and bulk emulsion explosives, and the details of the changes of these parameters over time are also reported.

Abstract
A concept for stabilizing highly sensitive and explosive copper(II) azide with 1-N-substituted tetrazoles is described. It was possible to stabilize the system by the use of highly endothermic, nitrogen-rich ligands. The sensitivities of the resulting energetic copper coordination compounds can be tuned further by variation of the alkyl chain of the ligands and by phlegmatization of the complexes with classical additives during the synthesis. It is demonstrated, using the compound based on 1-methyl-5H-tetrazole ([Cu(N3 )2 (MTZ)], 1) that this class of complexes can be applied as a potential replacement for both lead azide (LA) and lead styphnate (LS). The complex was extensively investigated according to its chemical (elemental analysis, single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy) and physico-chemical properties (differential thermal analysis, sensitivities towards impact, friction, and electrostatic discharge) compared to pure copper(II) azide.

Abstract
Recently, energetic ionic salts have become a research hotspot due to their attractive properties, such as high density, high heat of formation, and environmental friendliness. Dihydroxylammonium 5,5′-bistetrazole-1,1′-diolate (TKX-50) is a typical nitrogen-rich energetic ionic salt, which has broad application prospects. However, the research on the stability and crystal structure evolution of TKX-50 in different solvent systems is insufficient. Herein, we investigated the crystal structure transformations and searched for new solid forms of TKX-50 under different conditions via a solvent induction method. The phase composition of all screened samples was analyzed by powder or single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Three new solid forms of [NH2(CH3)2+][BTO−], [NH2(CH3CH2)2+]2[BTO2−], [NHOH(CH3CCH3)+][BTO−] H2O were obtained from DMAC, DEF and AC/MT, respectively. Furthermore, the energetic properties were evaluated through EXPLO5. Three new solvent compounds obtained by dihydroxylammonium 5,5′-bistetrazole-1,1′-diolate recrystallized from three solvents.![]()

Abstract
Peroxosolvates of 2-aminonicotinic acid (I) and lidocaine N-oxide (II) including the largest insular hydrogen peroxide clusters were isolated and their crystal structures were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. An unprecedented dodecameric hydrogen peroxide insular cluster was found in I. An unusual cross-like pentameric cluster was observed in the structure of II. The topology of the (H2 O2 )12 assembly was never observed for small-molecule clusters. In I and II new double and triple cross-orientational disorders of H2 O2 were found. Cluster II is the first example of a peroxosolvate crystal structure containing H2 O2 molecules with a homoleptic hydrogen peroxide environment. In II, a hydrogen bond between an H2 O2 molecule and a peptide group -CONH⋅⋅⋅O2 H2 was observed for the first time.
