Abstract
All-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs) have attracted considerable attention owing to their pronounced advantages of excellent mechanical flexibility/stretchability and greatly enhanced device stability as compared to other types of organic solar cells (OSCs). Thanks to the extensive research efforts dedicated to the development of polymer acceptors, all-PSCs have achieved remarkable improvement of photovoltaic performance, recently. This review summarizes the recent progress of polymer acceptors based on the key electron-deficient building blocks, which include bithiophene imide (BTI) derivatives, boron-nitrogen coordination bond (B←N)-incorporated (hetero)arenes, cyano-functionalized (hetero)arenes, and fused-ring electron acceptors (FREAs). In addition, single-component-based all-PSCs are also briefly discussed. The structure-property correlations of polymer acceptors are elaborated in detail. Finally, we offer our insights into the development of new electron-deficient building blocks with further optimized properties and the polymers built from them for efficient all-PSCs.

Abstract
The development of n-type organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) lags far behind their p-type counterparts. In order to address this dilemma, we report here two new fused bithiophene imide dimer (f-BTI2)-based n-type polymers with a branched methyl end-capped glycol side chain, which exhibit good solubility, low-lying LUMO energy levels, favorable polymer chain orientation, and efficient ion transport property, thus yielding a remarkable OECT electron mobility (μe ) of up to ≈10-2 cm2 V-1 s-1 and volumetric capacitance (C*) as high as 443 F cm-3 , simultaneously. As a result, the f-BTI2TEG-FT-based OECTs deliver a record-high maximum geometry-normalized transconductance of 4.60 S cm-1 and a maximum μC* product of 15.2 F cm-1 V-1 s-1 . The μC* figure of merit is more than one order of magnitude higher than that of the state-of-the-art n-type OECTs. The emergence of f-BTI2TEG-FT brings a new paradigm for developing high-performance n-type polymers for low-power OECT applications.

Abstract
Access to dithiophene-fused oxadiborepins and the first azadiborepins attained via a modular synthesis route are presented. The new compounds emit intense blue light, some of which demonstrate fluorescence quantum yields close to unity. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) revealed electrochemically reversible one-electron reduction processes. The weak aromatic character of the novel 1,2,7-azadiborepin ring is demonstrated with in-depth theoretical investigations using nucleus-independent chemical shift (NICS) scans and anisotropy of the induced current density (ACID) calculations.

Abstract
An extensive polycyclic π-system with 23 fused rings is synthesized via a highly efficient borylation reaction, in which four B-N covalent bonds and four B←N coordinate bonds are formed in one pot. B←N coordinate bonds not only lock the backbone into a near-coplanar conformation but also decrease the LUMO energy level to around -3.82 eV, demonstrating the dual utility of this strategy for the synthesis of extensive rigid polycyclic molecules and the development of n-type conjugated materials for organic electronics and organic photovoltaics.

Abstract
In the field of all-polymer solar cells (all-PSCs), all efficient polymer acceptors that exhibit efficiencies beyond 8% are based on either imide or dicyanoethylene. To boost the development of this promising solar cell type, creating novel electron-deficient units to build high-performance polymer acceptors is critical. A novel electron-deficient unit containing B←N bonds, namely, BNIDT, is synthesized. Systematic investigation of BNIDT reveals desirable properties including good coplanarity, favorable single-crystal structure, narrowed bandgap and downshifted energy levels, and extended absorption profiles. By copolymerizing BNIDT with thiophene and 3,4-difluorothiophene, two novel conjugated polymers named BN-T and BN-2fT are developed, respectively. It is shown that these polymers possess wide absorption spectra covering 350-800 nm, low-lying energy levels, and ambipolar film-transistor characteristics. Using PBDB-T as the donor and BN-2fT as the acceptor, all-PSCs afford an encouraging efficiency of 8.78%, which is the highest for all-PSCs excluding the devices based on imide and dicyanoethylene-type acceptors. Considering that the structure of BNIDT is totally different from these classical units, this work opens up a new class of electron-deficient unit for constructing efficient polymer acceptors that can realize efficiencies beyond 8% for the first time.

Abstract
Low n-doping efficiency and inferior stability restrict the thermoelectric performance of n-type conjugated polymers, making their performance lag far behind of their p-type counterparts. Reported here are two rigid coplanar poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV) derivatives, LPPV-1 and LPPV-2, which show nearly torsion-free backbones. The fused electron-deficient rigid structures endow the derivatives with less conformational disorder and low-lying lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) levels, down to -4.49 eV. After doping, two polymers exhibited high n-doping efficiency and significantly improved air stability. LPPV-1 exhibited a high conductivity of up to 1.1 S cm-1 and a power factor as high as 1.96 μW m-1 K-2 . Importantly, the power factor of the doped LPPV-1 thick film degraded only 2 % after 7 day exposure to air. This work demonstrates a new strategy for designing conjugated polymers, with planar backbones and low LUMO levels, towards high-performance and potentially air-stable n-type polymer thermoelectrics.

Abstract
Through fusing isoindigo (IID) units at 6,7;6',7'-positions, a series of new near-infrared (NIR) absorbing and stable ribbon-like conjugated molecules, namely nIIDs in which n represents the number of IID units, have been synthesized. The optical band gaps of the molecules are lowered from 2.03 eV of 1IID to 1.12 eV of 6IID with the increase of the conjugation length. 3IID, 4IID, and 6IID have strong absorption in the NIR region and exhibit photothermal conversion efficiencies of greater than 50 % under laser irradiation at λ=808 nm.

Abstract
A new electron-deficient unit with a fused 5-membered heterocyclic ring was developed by replacing a cyclopenta-1,3-diene from electron-rich donor indacenodithiophene (IDT) with a cyclohepta-4,6-diene-1,3-diimde unit. The imide bridge endows dithienylbenzenebisimide (BBI) with a fixed planar configuration and low energy levels for both the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO; -6.24 eV) and the lowest unoccupied molecular orbit (LUMO; -2.57 eV). Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) based on BBI polymers exhibit electron mobility up to 0.34 cm2 V-1 s-1 , which indicates that the BBI is a promising n-type building block for optoelectronics.

Abstract
Well-defined, fused-ring aromatic oligomers represent promising candidates for the fundamental understanding and application of advanced carbon-rich materials, though bottom-up synthesis and structure-property correlation of these compounds remain challenging. In this work, an efficient synthetic route was employed to construct extended benzo[k]tetraphene-derived oligomers with up to 13 fused rings. The molecular and electronic structures of these compounds were clearly elucidated. Precise correlation of molecular sizes and crystallization dynamics was established, thus demonstrating the pivotal balance between intermolecular interaction and molecular mobility for optimized processing of highly ordered solids of these extended conjugated molecules.
