Abstract
The vaterite phase of CaCO3 exhibits unique characteristics, such as high porosity, surface area, dispersivity, and low specific gravity, but it is the most unstable polymorph. Here, we report lignin-induced stable vaterite as a support matrix for integrated artificial photosynthesis through the encapsulation of key active components such as the photosensitizer (eosin y, EY) and redox enzyme (l-glutamate dehydrogenase, GDH). The lignin-vaterite/EY/GDH photobiocatalytic platform enabled the regeneration of the reduced nicotinamide cofactor under visible light and facilitated the rapid conversion of α-ketoglutarate into l-glutamate (initial conversion rate, 0.41 mM h-1; turnover frequency, 1060 h-1; and turnover number, 39,750). The lignin-induced vaterite structure allowed for long-term protection and recycling of the active components while facilitating the photosynthesis reaction due to the redox-active lignin. Succession of stability tests demonstrated a significant improvement of GDH's robustness in the lignin-vaterite structure against harsh environments. This work provides a simple approach for solar-to-chemical conversion using a sustainable, integrated light-harvesting system.

Abstract
A new compound (1) formed by two antiparallelly disposed tetracyano thienoquinoidal units has been synthesized and studied by electrochemistry, UV/Vis-NIR, IR, EPR, and transient spectroscopy. Self-assembly of 1 on a Au(111) surface has been investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy. Experiments have been rationalized by quantum chemical calculations. 1 exhibits a unique charge distribution in its anionic form, with a gradient of charge yielding a neat molecular in-plane electric dipole momentum, which transforms out-of-plane after surface deposition due to twisted→folded conformational change and to partial charge transfer from Au(111). Intermolecular van der Waals interactions and antiparallel trapezoidal shape fitting lead to the formation of an optimal dense on Au(111) two-dimensional assembly of 1.

Abstract
Carbon dots (CDs) and their derivatives are useful platforms for studying electron-donor/acceptor interactions and dynamics therein. Herein, we couple amorphous CDs with phthalocyanines (Pcs) that act as electron donors with a large extended π-surface and intense absorption across the visible range of the solar spectrum. Investigations of the intercomponent interactions by means of steady-state and pump-probe transient absorption spectroscopy reveal symmetry-breaking charge transfer/separation and recombination dynamics within pairs of phthalocyanines. The CDs facilitate the electronic interactions between the phthalocyanines. Thus, our findings suggest that CDs could be used to support electronic couplings in multichromophoric systems and further increase their applicability in organic electronics, photonics, and artificial photosynthesis.

Abstract
The use of amine-rich N-doped carbon nanodots (NCNDs) for the photochemical radical perfluoroalkylation of organic compounds is reported. This operationally simple approach occurs under mild conditions producing valuable new C-C bonds. The chemistry is driven by the ability of NCNDs to directly reach an electronically excited state upon light absorption, thereby successively triggering the formation of reactive radical species from simple perfluoroalkyl iodides. Preliminary mechanistic studies are also reported.
