Abstract
Chiroptical activity of achiral crystals is theoretically allowed but very unusual. There is a particularly scarcity of empirical studies on optically active achiral metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Herein we report an achiral emissive Eu MOF and its chiroptical properties both in the ground and excited states. The framework crystallizes in an achiral space group (Pna21 ) belonging to the polar point group (mm2), where the asymmetric arrangement of racemic trinuclear Eu-oxo clusters is responsible for the optical activity. A pair of circular dichroisms (CD) and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) peaks with opposite signs were observed for single crystals. Importantly, the luminescence dissymmetry factor can reach up to 1.1×10-3 , which is comparable in magnitude to the value of most of the chiral-linker-bridged MOFs. This work gives the first example of achiral MOFs with CPL response and should be instructive for the discovery of more CPL emitters from racemic MOF family.

Abstract
3‐Nitrotyrosine (NT) is generated by the action of peroxynitrite and other reactive nitrogen species (RNS), and as a consequence it is accumulated in inflammation‐associated conditions. This is particularly relevant in kidney disease, where NT concentration in blood is considerably high. Therefore, NT is a crucial biomarker of renal damage, although it has been underestimated in clinical diagnosis due to the lack of an appropriate sensing method. Herein we report the first fluorescent supramolecular sensor for such a relevant compound: Fluorescence by rotational restriction of tetraphenylethenes (TPE) in a covalent cage is selectively quenched in human blood serum by 3‐nitrotyrosine (NT) that binds to the cage with high affinity, allowing a limit of detection within the reported physiological concentrations of NT in chronic kidney disease.

Abstract
Chiral covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) are intriguing as advanced chiroptical materials but have not been reported to date. We constructed chiroptical COF materials with CPL activity through the convenient Knoevenagel condensation of formyl-functionalized axially chiral linkers and C3-symmetric 1,3,5-benzenetriacetonitrile. Remarkably, the as-prepared chiral COFs showed high absorption and luminescent dissymmetric factors up to 0.02 (gabs ) and 0.04 (glum ), respectively. In contrast, the branched chiral polymers from the same starting monomers were CPL silent. Structural and spectral characterization revealed that the reticular frame was indispensable for CPL generation via confined chirality transfer. Moreover, reticular stacking boosted the CPL performance significantly due to the interlayer restriction of frame. This work demonstrates the first example of a CPL-active COF and provides insight into CPL generation through covalent reticular chemistry, which will play a constructive role in the future design of high-performance CPL materials.

Abstract
The construction of solid-state fluorescent materials with high quantum yield and good processability is of vital importance in the preparation of organic light-emitting devices. Herein, a series of tetraphenylethylene (TPE)-based multicomponent emissive metallacages are prepared by the coordination-driven self-assembly of tetra-(4-pyridylphenyl)ethylene, cis-Pt(PEt3 )2 (OTf)2 and tetracarboxylic ligands. These metallacages exhibit good emission both in solution and in the solid state because the coordination bonds and aggregation restrict the molecular motions of TPE synergistically, which suppresses the non-radiative decay of these metallacages. Impressively, one of the metallacages achieves very high fluorescence quantum yield (ΦF =88.46 %) in the solid state, which is further used as the coatings of a blue LED bulb to achieve white-light emission. The study not only provides a general method to the preparation of TPE-based metallacages but also explores their applications as solid-state fluorescent materials, which will promote the future design and applications of metallacages as useful emissive devices.
