Abstract
Two isostructural Co(Cd)-antimony-oxo tartrate cluster-based compounds with a one-dimensional (1-D) belt-like structure, namely H9.2[Co(H2O)6]{M0.5(H2O)3.5{M'(H2O)4[SbVO6[Co4.2(H2O)5SbIII6(μ3-O)2(tta)6]]}}2·nH2O (M = Co, M' = Co, n = 9 (1); M = Cd0.39/Co0.61, M' = Cd0.24/Co0.76, n = 7 (2); H4tta = tartaric acid), have been synthesized by solvothermal methods. It is noteworthy that the relatively rare mixed-valence Sb(III,V) exists in the structures. The anionic clusters in both compounds appear to be in a sandwich configuration; the top and bottom layers are based on {Sb3(μ3-O)(tta)3} brackets, and the intermediate layer is occupied by {SbVO6[Co4.2(H2O)5]}. The title compounds have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, elemental analyses, thermogravimetric analyses, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. We chose compound 2 as a representative to test its proton conductivity, and the results show that the conductivity can reach 1.42 × 10-3 S cm-1 at 85 °C under 98% relative humidity.

Abstract
Our systematic explorations of the complex rare earth tellurite halide family have added several new [Ln12(TeO3)12][M6X24] (M = Cd, Mn, Co) representatives containing strongly deficient and disordered metal-halide layers based on transition metal cations. The degree of disorder increases sharply with decrease of M2+ radius and the size disagreements between the cationic [Ln12(TeO3)12]+12 and anionic [M6Cl24]−12 layers. From the crystal chemical viewpoint, this indicates that the families of both rare-earth selenites and tellurites can be further extended; one can expect formation of some more complex structure types, particularly among selenites. Analysis of the polytypism of compounds have been performed using the approach of OD (“order–disorder”) theory.

Abstract
The success and continued expansion of research on metal-oxo clusters owe largely to their structural richness and wide range of functions. However, while most of them known to date are negatively charged polyoxometalates, there is only a handful of cationic ones, much less functional ones. Here, we show an all-inorganic hydroxyiodide [H10.7Sb32.1O44][H2.1Sb2.1I8O6][Sb0.76I6]2·25H2O (HSbOI), forming a face-centered cubic structure with cationic Sb32O44 clusters and two types of anionic clusters in its interstitial spaces. Although it is submicrometer in size, electron diffraction tomography of HSbOI allowed the construction of the initial structural model, followed by powder Rietveld refinement to reach the final structure. The cationic cluster is characterized by the presence of acidic protons on its surface due to substantial Sb3+ deficiencies, which enables HSbOI to serve as an excellent solid acid catalyst. These results open up a frontier for the exploration and functionalization of cationic metal-oxo clusters containing heavy main group elements.

Abstract
Metal oxyhalides have attracted broad interest recently because of their diverse structures and versatile properties. Here, two oxyhalides, CuSb2O3Cl (1) and CuSb2O3Br (2), were studied by focusing on their nonlinear-optical properties. They are crystallized in the noncentrosymmetric monoclinic Cc structure, and the layered structures could be derived from a 1:1 combination of CuX- (X = Cl, Br) and Sb2O3-type slabs. Their energy gaps were determined to be 2.76 and 2.64 eV. The second-harmonic-generation (SHG) test suggests that they are nonlinear-optical-active, and the effects are ascribed to the contribution of CuX3O units. Meanwhile, the SbO3 units' arrangement has a small contribution to the SHG effects. This work is the pioneer SHG investigation of the MI-MIII-O-X (MI = Cu, Ag; MIII = trivalent As, Sb, Bi; X = halogen) family.

Abstract
The discovery of novel high-nuclearity oxo-clusters considerably promotes the development of cluster science. We report a high-nuclearity oxo-cluster-based compound with acid/alkali-resistance and radiation stabilities, namely, (H3O)7[Cd7Sb24O24(l-tta)9(l-Htta)3(H2O)6]·29H2O (FJSM-CA; l-H4tta = l-tartaric acid), which features a two-dimensionally anionic layer based on the largest Sb-oxo-clusters with 28-metal-ion-core [Cd4Sb24O24]. It is challenging to efficiently capture Sr2+, Ba2+ (analogue of 226Ra), and [UO2]2+ ions from aqueous solutions due to their high water solubility and environmental mobility, while it is unprecedented that a novel Sb-oxo-cluster-based framework material FJSM-CA can efficiently remove these hazardous ions accompanied with intriguing structural transformations. Especially, it shows fast ion-exchange abilities for Sr2+, Ba2+, and [UO2]2+ (reaches equilibrium within 2, 10, and 20 min, respectively) and high exchange capacity (121.91 mg/g), removal rate R (96%), and distribution coefficient KdU (2.46 × 104 mL/g) for uranium. Moreover, the underlying mechanism is clearly revealed, which is attributed to strong electrostatic interactions between exchanged cations and highly negative-charged frameworks and the strong affinity of (COO)- groups for these cations. Proton conduction of the pristine and Sr2+, Ba2+, [UO2]2+-loaded products was investigated. This work highlights the design of new oxo-cluster-based materials for radionuclide remediation and proton conduction performance.

Abstract
Li17Sb13S28 was synthesized by solid-state reaction of stoichiometric amounts of anhydrous Li2S and Sb2S3. The crystal structure of Li17Sb13S28 was determined from dark-red single crystals at room temperature. The title compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/m (no. 12) with a=12.765(2) Å, b=11.6195(8) Å, c=9.2564(9) Å, β=119.665(6)°, V=1193.0(2) Å(3), and Z=4 (data at 20 °C, lattice constants from powder diffraction). The crystal structure contains one cation site with a mixed occupation by Li and Sb, and one with an antimony split position. Antimony and sulfur form slightly distorted tetragonal bipyramidal [SbS5E] units (E=free electron pair). Six of these units are arranged around a vacancy in the anion substructure. The lone electron pairs E of the antimony(III) cations are arranged around these vacancies. Thus, a variant of the rock salt structure type with ordered vacancies in the anionic substructure results. Impedance spectroscopic measurements of Li17Sb13S28 show a specific conductivity of 2.9×10(-9) Ω(-1) cm(-1) at 323 K and of 7.9×10(-6) Ω(-1) cm(-1) at 563 K, the corresponding activation energy is EA=0.4 eV below 403 K and EA=0.6 eV above. Raman spectra are dominated by the Sb-S stretching modes of the [SbS5] units at 315 and 341 cm(-1) at room temperature. Differential thermal analysis (DTA) measurements of Li17Sb13S28 indicate peritectic melting at 854 K.

Abstract
Abstract
Single crystals of [NaCl][Cu(HSeO3)2] have been prepared by the chemical vapor transport reactions. Its crystal structure (monoclinic, C2/c, a = 13.9874(7), b = 7.2594(4), c = 9.0421(5) Å, β = 127.046(2)°, V = 732.81(7) Å3) is based upon electroneutral [Cu(HSeO3)2] sheets formed by corner sharing between the [CuO4] squares and (HSeO3) groups that are parallel to the (100) plane. Each (SeO2OH)– group forms the Oh1...O2 hydrogen bond to an adjacent hydroselenite group to constitute a [(SeO2OH)2]2– dimer that provides additional stabilization of the copper diselenite sheet. The [Cu(HSeO3)2] sheets alternate with the sheets consisting of zigzag–Na–Cl–Na–Cl–chains formed by Cl atoms and disordered Na sites. The chains are parallel to the c axis. The linkage between the alternating electroneutral [Cu(HSeO3)2] and [NaCl] sheets is provided by the Cu–Cl and Na–O bonds. The coordination of Na is fivefold and consists of three O and two Cl atoms. [NaCl][Cu(HSeO3)2] is a new member of the group of compounds based upon the M(HSeO3)2 layers (M2+ = Cu, Co, Cd). The prototype structure for this group is [Cu(HSeO3)2] that does not have any chemical species separating the copper hydroselenite layers. In other compounds, the interlayer space between the [Cu(HSeO3)2]0 layers is occupied by structural units of different complexity. [NaCl][Cu(HSeO3)2] can be considered as [Cu(HSeO3)2] intercalated with the NaCl layers consisting of one-dimensional–Na–Cl–Na–Cl–chains.

Abstract
Chemical vapor transport (CVT) reactions were used to prepare three modular mixed-valent Cu(I)-Cu(II) compounds, (Pb2Cu(2+)9O4)(SeO3)4(Cu(+)Cl(2))Cl5 (1), (PbCu(2+)5O2)(SeO3)2(Cu(+)Cl2)Cl3 (2), and (Pb(x)Cu(2+)(6-x)O2)(SeO3)2(Cu(+)Cl2)K(1-x)Cl(4-x) (x = 0.20) (3). In their crystal structures chains of anion-centered (OCu(2+)4) and (OCu(2+)3Pb) tetrahedra form honeycomb-like double layers with cavities occupied by linear [Cu(+)Cl2](-) groups.

Abstract
Transparent, needle-like single crystals of the isostructural compounds [Sb4O7+3δX4][Zn3]1+δ (X = Cl, Br, I) δ ≈ 0.2 were obtained from chemical reactions in evacuated and sealed silica tubes. First, the average structure was solved in P21/n but the model refined poorly and a lowering of the symmetry to the 3 + 1 dimensional space group P21(α0γ)0 gave a significantly better fit to the data. This model used second order positional modulations for all the atoms. Whereas Sb, Cl (Br, I) and most O positions were well behaved, there was a mismatch with Zn that was better described in a sub-cell, thus yielding a composite structure. The composite nature of the structure leads to a charge imbalance that is compensated by oxygen vacancies.

Abstract
A new nickel tellurite oxohalide, Ni(15)Te(12)O(34)Cl(10), has been prepared by chemical vapour transport reactions and the crystal structure was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group P1[combining macron] with the pseudomonoclinic cell parameters a = 10.3248(6) Å, b = 10.3249(6) Å, c = 11.6460(8) Å, α = 73.782(6)°, β = 73.782(6)°, γ = 63.51(2)°, Z = 1, R(1) = 0.0264. The Ni(2+) ions have octahedral [NiO(6)] and [NiO(4)Cl(2)] coordinations, the Te(4+) ions have one-sided [TeO(3)] and [TeO(4)] coordinations. The crystal structure can be described as consisting of nickel oxide ribbons extending along (001) that are connected by corner sharing [TeO(3)] and [TeO(4)] groups to build the open framework structure. The chlorine atoms and the Te-lone pairs are facing voids in the oxide framework. The new compound undergoes two successive antiferromagnetic ordering transitions at ∼50 K and ∼10 K. The Curie-Weiss temperature obtained from detailed evaluation of the high-temperature magnetic susceptibilities is positive indicating predominant ferromagnetic superexchange interactions between the Ni magnetic moments.

Abstract
The crystal structure of a novel compound Pb(13)Mn(9)O(25) has been determined through a direct space structure solution with a Monte-Carlo-based global optimization using precession electron diffraction data (a=14.177(3)A, c=3.9320(7)A, SG P4/m, R(F)=0.239) and compositional information obtained from energy dispersive X-ray analysis and electron energy loss spectroscopy. This allowed to obtain a reliable structural model even despite the simultaneous presence of both heavy (Pb) and light (O) scattering elements and to validate the accuracy of the electron diffraction-based structure refinement. This provides an important benchmark for further studies of complex structural problems with electron diffraction techniques. Pb(13)Mn(9)O(25) has an anion- and cation-deficient perovskite-based structure with the A-positions filled by the Pb atoms and 9/13 of the B positions filled by the Mn atoms in an ordered manner. MnO(6) octahedra and MnO(5) tetragonal pyramids form a network by sharing common corners. Tunnels are formed in the network due to an ordered arrangement of vacancies at the B-sublattice. These tunnels provide sufficient space for localization of the lone 6s(2) electron pairs of the Pb(2+) cations, suggested as the driving force for the structural difference between Pb(13)Mn(9)O(25) and the manganites of alkali-earth elements with similar compositions.
