Abstract
In recent years, significant advancements have been made in the synthesis and application of 1,3-dienes. This specific structural motif has garnered significant attention from researchers in materials science and biology due to its unique aggregation-induced emission (AIE) properties and extensive conjugation systems. The luminescent characteristics of these compounds are notably influenced by the geometry of the two double bonds. Therefore, it is essential to consolidate stereoselective synthetic strategies for 1,3-dienes. This comprehensive review seeks to elucidate the diverse techniques employed to attain stereo-control in the synthesis of 1,3-diene-based AIE luminogens (AIEgens). Particular emphasis is placed on comprehending the determinants of stereoselectivity and exploring the array of substrates amenable to these methods. Furthermore, the review underscores the AIE properties exhibited by these compounds and their extensive utility in organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), stimuli-responsive materials, sensors, bioimaging, and photodynamic therapy (PDT).

Abstract
Reaction of the divalent M(OTf)2 (M = Sn, Pb; OTf = CF3SO3) with soft phosphine and arsine ligands, L, where L = o-C6H4(ER2)2 (E = P, R = Me or Ph; E = As, R = Me), MeC(CH2ER2)3 (E = P, R = Ph; E = As, R = Me), PhP(CH2CH2PPh2)2 or P(CH2CH2PPh2)3, affords complexes of stoichiometry M(L)(OTf)2 as white powders, which have been characterised via elemental analysis, 1H, 19F{1H}, 31P{1H} and 119Sn NMR spectroscopy, with the expected 31P-119Sn and 31P-207Pb couplings clearly evident. The crystal structures of nine of these pnictine complexes are reported, in each case revealing retention of one or both OTf anions, which gives rise to a diverse range of coordination environments including monomers, as well as varying degrees of oligomerisation to form weakly associated (OTf-bridged) dimers, trimers and polymers. 19F{1H} NMR spectra indicate that the OTf is essentially anionic (dissociated) in solution. Anion metathesis of [M(OTf)2{MeC(CH2PPh2)3}] with Na[BArF] (BArF = B{3,5-(CF3)2C6H3}4) yields the corresponding [M{MeC(CH2PPh2)3}][BArF]2 salts, the crystal structures of all three (M = Ge, Sn, Pb) reveal pyramidal dications with discrete [BArF]- anions providing charge balance. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations on these [M{MeC(CH2PPh2)3}]2+ (M = Ge, Sn, Pb) dications using the B3LYP-D3 functional show the presence of a directional lone pair, which is a mixture of valence s and pz character, with the valence p-orbital character decreasing down group 14. Natural bond orbital (NBO) analysis also shows that the natural charge at the metal centre increases and the charge on the P centre decreases upon going down group 14.

Abstract
The rational tuning of the electrophilicity of the allylpalladium intermediates enables the regioselectively intramolecular 1,2-addition of enynol in the presence of aminal. This aminomethylation and cyclization reaction via C-N bond activation and intramolecular nucleophilic addition provides a rare example for the synthesis of O-containing heterocycle-confined 1,3-dienes, which is of synthetic potential for further derivatization. The method possesses broad substrate generality as well as functional group compatibility and efficiently affords a wide range of desired products with 5-, 6-, and 8-membered O-containing heterocycles with various functional groups.

Abstract
Transition metal-catalyzed hydrocarbonations of unsaturated substrates have emerged as powerful synthetic tools for increasing molecular complexity in an atom-economical manner. Although this field was traditionally dominated by low valent rhodium and ruthenium catalysts, in recent years, there have been many reports based on the use of iridium complexes. In many cases, these reactions have a different course from those of their rhodium homologs, and even allow performing otherwise inviable transformations. In this review we aim to provide an informative journey, from the early pioneering examples in the field, most of them based on other metals than iridium, to the most recent transformations catalyzed by designed Ir(i) complexes. The review is organized by the type of C-H bond that is activated (with C sp2, sp or sp3), as well as by the C-C unsaturated partner that is used as a hydrocarbonation partner (alkyne, allene or alkene). Importantly, we discuss the mechanistic foundations of the methods highlighting the differences from those previously proposed for processes catalyzed by related metals, particularly those of the same group (Co and Rh).

Abstract
A practical and atom-economic protocol for the stereoselective preparation of various 1,4- and 1,3-diene skeletons through iridium-catalyzed directed olefinic C-H allylation and alkenylation of NH-Ts acrylamides in water was developed. This reaction tolerated a wide scope of substrates under simple reaction conditions and enabled successful gram-scale preparation. Furthermore, an asymmetric variant of this reaction giving enantioenriched 1,4-dienes was achieved employing a chiral diene-iridium complex as the catalyst.

Abstract
Using the previously designed biphenyl-2-ylphosphine ligand, featuring a remote tertiary amino group, the first gold-catalyzed intermolecular hydroalkenylation of alkynes has been developed. Synthetically valuable conjugated dienyl alcohols are formed in moderate to good yields. A range of alkenyltrifluoroborates are allowed as the alkenyl donor, and no erosion of alkene geometry and/or the propargylic configuration are detected. DFT calculations confirm the critical role of the remote basic group in the ligand as a general-base catalyst for promoting this novel gold catalysis with good efficiency.

Abstract
A new, facile, and efficient protocol for the synthesis of polysubstituted conjugated 1,3-dienes through Ni-catalyzed tandem dimerization/cross-coupling reaction of diarylacetylenes and arylboronic acids in the presence of a catalytic amount of B2pin2 has been developed. A series of arynes and arylboronic acids with different substituents participated well in this catalytic system, affording a variety of useful conjugated 1,3-dienes.

Abstract
Described is the development of a new class of bis(cyclometalated) ruthenium(II) catalyst precursors for C-C coupling reactions between alkene and alkyne substrates. The complex [(cod)Ru(3-methallyl)2] reacts with benzophenone imine or benzophenone in a 1:2 ratio to form bis(cyclometalated) ruthenium(II) complexes (1). The imine-ligated complex 1 a promoted room-temperature coupling between acrylic esters and amides with internal alkynes to form 1,3-diene products. A proposed catalytic cycle involves C-C bond formation by oxidative cyclization, β-hydride elimination, and C-H bond reductive elimination. This Ru(II)/Ru(IV) pathway is consistent with the observed catalytic reactivity of 1 a for mild tail-to-tail methyl acrylate dimerization and for cyclobutene formation by [2+2] norbornene/alkyne cycloaddition.

Abstract
A catalytic system comprising [RuCl2(PPh3)3], AgOTf, and BINAP enabled atom- and step-economical additions of C(sp(3))-H bonds onto unactivated alkenes 2 under comparably mild reaction conditions. The pyridyl directing group was easily removed to furnish the corresponding (NH)-free amines with ample scope.
