Abstract
We describe here an organocatalytic asymmetric cascade formal [3 + 3] cycloaddition of benzothiazoles with 2-nitroallylic acetates and nitroenynes. This dearomative methodology provided a facile and efficient strategy for the construction of a broad range of valuable benzothiazolopyridines bearing two adjacent stereogenic centers in moderate to good yields with good to excellent stereocontrol.

Abstract
A new palladium-catalyzed multicomponent dearomatization of arylamines with CO and propargylic acetates for the synthesis of bridged polycyclic lactams is described. This method allows double annulation at the ipso and para positions of the amino group to form four new bonds, three C-C bonds and one C-N bond. DFT calculations and experimental studies indicate that the efficient formation of the allenecarboxanilide intermediate is the key step to achieve the dearomative transformation.

Abstract
An alkyne-isocyanide [3 + 2] cycloaddition followed by a Boulton-Katritzky rearrangement and a ring expansion is demonstrated. Different from the typical Boulton-Katritzky rearrangement, which forms five-membered ring products, the rearrangement-ring expansion method provides a mild, efficient, and atom-economical access to fused 9-deazaguanine structures in high yields.

Abstract
We report asymmetric [4 + 3] annulations between isatin-derived Morita-Baylis-Hillman carbonates and two types of vinyl carbonates synergistically catalyzed by tertiary amines and transition metals, through chemoselective assemblies of in situ formed allylic ylides and metal-containing 1,4-dipoles. A range of oxepane frameworks are generally constructed in moderate to good yields with high stereocontrol. Moreover, all four diastereomers for the products bearing vicinal stereocenters are accessible by tuning tertiary amine and metal catalysts.

Abstract
We describe a copper-mediated method that enables the synthesis of seven-membered-ring fused pyrroles (7-mrFPs). The protocol proceeds via an in situ spiro-intermediate ring expansion and tolerates a library of 7-mrFP derivatives with a broad range of functional groups in a simple step with tangible parameters and substrate adaptations. These rare 7-mrFPs are now accessible on a millimolar scale, and selected examples exhibit high antioxidant activity.

Abstract
A short, scalable, and collective total synthesis of four fawcettimine-type Lycopodium alkaloids in eight or nine steps is disclosed. A dense multi-small-ring spiro-α-aminocyclopentanone successfully served as the key intermediate, which was directly accessed by a LiDBB-mediated intramolecular reductive coupling of the aliphatic imine and an ester-carbonyl. Compared to those that employ classical Heathcock intermediate(s) containing a nine-membered ring, the new strategy shows the significant improvement of the synthetic step and redox economies as well as excellent stereochemical control.

Abstract
An efficient three-step sequence to afford a valuable class of spirocyclic pyrrolidines is reported. A reductive cleavage/Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons cascade facilitates the spirocyclisation of a range of isoxazolines bearing a distal β-ketophosphonate. The spirocyclisation precursors are elaborated in a facile and modular fashion, via a [3 + 2]-cycloaddition followed by the condensation of a phosphonate ester, introducing multiple points of divergence. The synthetic utility of this protocol has been demonstrated in the synthesis of a broad family of 1-azaspiro[4,4]nonanes and in a concise formal synthesis of the natural product (±)-cephalotaxine.

Abstract
Herein, we described an efficient copper-catalyzed chemo-divergent tandem reaction of N-(ortho-alkynyl)aryl-pyrrole and (iso)indoles, delivering ring-fused N-heterocycles in good yields in an atom-economical manner. N-(ortho-alkynyl)aryl-pyrrole and indoles undergo the tandem cyclization/migration reaction, in which the group at 2-position was migrated to 3-position. In contrast, the dearomative cyclization of N-(ortho-alkynyl)aryl-isoindoles would occur to deliver the N-fused tetracyclic products efficiently.

This directing group-free approach relies on a chiral Ir-(P, olefin) complex and Mg(ClO4 )2 Lewis acid catalyst system to promote allylic substitution, providing the C2-allylated products in typically high yields (40-99 %) and enantioselectivities (83-99 % ee) with excellent regiocontrol. Experimental studies and DFT calculations suggest that the reaction proceeds via direct C2-allylation, rather than C3-allylation followed by in situ migration. Steric congestion at the indole-C3 position and improved π-π stacking interactions have been identified as major contributors to the C2-selectivity.

Abstract
The catalytic diastereodivergent construction of stereoisomers having two or more stereogenic centers has been extensively studied. In contrast, the switchable introduction of another stereogenic element, that is, Z/E configuration involving a polysubstituted alkene group, into the optically active stereoisomers, has not been recognized yet. Disclosed here is the pseudo-stereodivergent synthesis of highly enantioenriched tetrasubstituted alkene architectures from isatin-based Morita-Baylis-Hillman carbonates and allylic derivatives, under the cooperative catalysis of a tertiary amine and a chiral iridium complex. The success of the switchable construction of the tetrasubstituted alkene motif relies on the diastereodivergent 1,3-oxo-allylation reaction between N-allylic ylides and chiral π-allyliridium complex intermediates by ligand and substrate control, followed by the stereoselective concerted 3,3-Cope rearrangement process.

Abstract
In this review, we summarize the origin and advancements of iridium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions during the past two decades. Since the first report in 1997, Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions have attracted intense attention due to their exceptionally high regio- and enantioselectivities. Ir-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution reactions have been significantly developed in recent years in many respects, including ligand development, mechanistic understanding, substrate scope, and application in the synthesis of complex functional molecules. In this review, an explicit outline of ligands, mechanism, scope of nucleophiles, and applications is presented.

Abstract
γ,δ-Unsaturated amides in which the alkene moiety bears an aryl or heteroaryl substituent undergo regioselective rhodium-catalyzed δ-borylation by pinacolborane to afford chiral secondary benzylic boronic esters. The results contrast the γ-borylation of γ,δ-unsaturated amides in which the disubstituted alkene moiety bears only alkyl substituents; the reversal in regiochemistry is coupled with a reversal in the sense of π-facial selectivity.

Abstract
An intermolecular Pd-catalyzed allylic dearomatization reaction of polycyclic indoles with substituted allylic carbonates was realized in the presence of a newly synthesized chiral phosphoramidite ligand. Various polycyclic indoline and indolenine derivatives were successfully synthesized in excellent yields (up to 99%) with excellent enantioselectivity (up to 98% ee). The obtained products could undergo versatile transformations, increasing the application potential of the method in organic synthesis.

Abstract
A method for the enantioselective synthesis of carbo- and heterocyclic ring systems enabled through the combination of Lewis acid activation and iridium-catalyzed allylic substitution is described. The reaction proceeds with branched, allylic alcohols and carbon nucleophiles as well as heteronucleophiles to give a diverse set of ring systems in good yields and with high enantioselectivities. The utility of the method is highlighted by the asymmetric syntheses of erythrococcamides A and B.

Abstract
An enantioselective iridium-catalyzed allylic substitution with a set of highly unstabilized nucleophiles generated in situ from 2-methylpyridines is described. Enantioenriched 2-substituted pyridines, which are frequently encountered in natural products and pharmaceuticals, could be easily constructed by this simple method in good yields and excellent enantioselectivity. The synthetic utility of the pyridine products is demonstrated through the synthesis of a key intermediate of a reported Na+ /H+ exchanger inhibitor and the total synthesis of (-)-lycopladine A.

Abstract
The facile synthesis of 6- to 8-membered pyrrololactams has been developed using a ring expansion of spiro-2H-pyrroles, the products of intermolecular alkyne-isocyanide click reactions. The key to successful ring expansion of spiro-2H-pyrroles to pyrrololactams is the enforced orbital overlap between the internal alkene and the amide carbonyl group through the conformationally locked bicyclic structures. The newly disclosed α-isocyano lactams, substrates for click reactions, should find their utility in the synthesis of pharmaceutically important heterocyclic compounds.

Abstract
The preparation of all possible stereoisomers of a given chiral molecule bearing multiple stereocenters by a simple and unified method is a significant challenge in asymmetric catalysis. We report stereodivergent allylic substitutions with aryl acetic acid esters catalyzed synergistically by a metallacyclic iridium complex and benzotetramisole. Through permutations of the enantiomers of the two chiral catalysts, all four stereoisomers of the products bearing two adjacent stereocenters are accessible with high diastereoselectivity and enantioselectivity. The resulting chiral activated ester products can be converted readily to enantioenriched amides, unactivated esters, and carboxylic acids in a one-pot manner.
