Abstract
Direct arylation of the benzylic C(sp3)-H bond is one of the most straightforward strategies for the construction of multi-aryl methanes, owing to the extraordinary step and atom economy. In this paper, we developed the first metal-free arylation of the C(sp3)-H bond in 3-methylindoles, thereby providing rapid access to a range of diaryl- and triarylmethanes with two indole rings. Mechanistically, 3-indole imine methide serves as the key intermediate. Water plays a crucial role in this process, likely serving as a proton shuttle to facilitate the key 1,3-proton transfer step in this reaction and, thus, enhance the reaction efficiency.

Abstract
Catalysis by trivalent nucleophilic organophosphines has emerged as an essential tool in organic synthesis. Several new organic transformations promoted by phosphines substantiate and complement the existing synthetic chemistry tools. Mere design of the substrate and reagent combinations has introduced new modes of reactivity patterns, which are otherwise difficult to achieve. These design considerations have led to the rapid build-up of complex molecular entities and laid a solid foundation to synthesise bioactive natural products and pharmaceuticals. This article presents an overview of some of the conceptual advances, including our contributions to nucleophilic organophosphine chemistry. The scope, limitations, mechanistic insights, and applications of these metal-free transformations are discussed elaborately.

Abstract
An asymmetric double oxidative [3 + 2] cycloaddition is reported. Oxidation of 3-((2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)amino)indolin-2-ones and β-aryl-substituted aldehydes simultaneously and subsequent asymmetric cycloaddition in the presence of the chiral amino catalyst generated highly functionalized chiral CF3-containing spiro[pyrrolidin-3,2'-oxindole] with four contiguous stereocenters stereoselectively, which is characterized by directly constructing two C-C bonds from four C(sp3)-H bonds. This new method features mild conditions, broad substrate scope, and excellent functional group compatibility.

Abstract
Carbon-hydrogen bond functionalizations provide an attractive method for streamlining organic synthesis, and many strategies have been developed for conducting these transformations. Hydride-abstracting reactions have emerged as extremely effective methods for oxidative bond-forming processes due to their mild reaction conditions and high chemoselectivity. This review will predominantly focus on the mechanism, reaction development, natural product synthesis applications, approaches to catalysis, and use in enantioselective processes for hydride abstractions by quinone, oxoammonium ion, and carbocation oxidants. These are the most commonly employed hydride-abstracting agents, but recent efforts illustrate the potential for weaker ketone and triaryl borane oxidants, which will be covered at the end of the review.

Abstract
Cyclobutanols are privileged cyclic skeletons in natural products and synthetic building blocks. C(sp3)-H functionalization is a prolonged challenge in organic synthesis. The synthesis of cyclobutanols through double C(sp3)-H bond functionalization remains elusive. Here we report the efficient synthesis of cyclobutanols through intermolecular radical [3 + 1] cascade cyclization, involving the functionalization of two C - H bonds through sequential hydrogen atom transfer. The copper complex reduces the iodomethylsilyl alcohols efficiently under blue-light irradiation to initiate the tandem transformation. The mild reaction tolerates a broad range of functional groups and allows for the facile generation of elaborate polycyclic structures.

Abstract
Functionalized spiro[carbazole-3,5'-pyrimidines] and spiro[carbazole-3,1'-cyclohexanes] were efficiently synthesized in satisfactory yields with high diastereoselectivity by CuSO4 catalyzed multicomponent reaction of indole-2-acetate, aromatic aldehyde and 1,3-dimethylbarbituric acid or dimedone. The reaction was finished with sequential Diels-Alder reaction of both in situ generated indole-2,3-quinodimethane and a dienophile. Additionally, the initially formed spiro[carbazole-3,5'-pyrimidines] were converted to dehydrogenated spiro[carbazole-3,5'-pyrimidines] by DDQ oxidation. The initially formed spiro[carbazole-3,1'-cyclohexanes] were converted to δ-valerolactone-substituted carbazoles by a DDQ promoted Baeyer-Villiger oxidation process.

Abstract
Among various organic cathode materials, C═O group-enriched structures have attracted wide attention worldwide. However, small organic molecules have long suffered from dissolving in electrolytes during charge-discharge cycles. π-Conjugated microporous polymers (CMPs) become one solution to address this issue. However, the synthesis strategy for CMPs with rich C═O groups and stable backbones remains a challenge. In this study, a novel CMP enriched with C═O units was synthesized through a highly efficient Diels-Alder reaction. The as-prepared CMP exhibited a fused carbon backbone and a semiconductive characteristic with a band gap of 1.4 eV. When used as an organic electrode material in LIBs, the insoluble and robust fused structure caused such CMPs to exhibit remarkable cycling stability (a 96.1% capacity retention at 0.2 A g-1 after 200 cycles and a 94.8% capacity retention at 1 A g-1 after 1500 cycles), superior lithium-ion diffusion coefficient (5.30 × 10-11 cm2 s-1), and excellent rate capability (95.8 mAh g-1 at 1 A g-1). This study provided a novel synthetic method for fabricating quinone-enriched fused CMPs, which can be used as LIB cathode materials.

Abstract
The mechanism for the synthesis of 2,3-bismethylenechromanes obtained by the reaction between silylethynyloxyarenes and allylic pivalates and catalyzed by a palladium complex has been investigated using computational methods rooted in density functional theory. The reaction is promoted by a C-H bond activation and the consequent bond cleavage of both substrates, followed by a novel annulation. The whole mechanism of this reaction is described together with the drawbacks that could block it. The main role played by the allyl rotation, inducing selectivity, together with the lability of the phosphine ligand and base (Cs2CO3) effects are unraveled. Finally, the nature of the substrates was managed, confirming that ortho-allylated silylethynyloxybenzenes lead to the same type of annulated products.

Abstract
A copper(I)/DDQ-mediated double-dehydrogenative Diels-Alder (DDDA) reaction of simple butenes with 1,4-diketones and indolones has been established for the first time. This strategy is based on a tandem double-dehydrogenation/Diels-Alder reaction from nonprefunctionalized starting materials, in which both a diene and dienophile were in situ generated via activation of fourfold inert C(sp3)-H bonds in one catalytic system.

Abstract
A Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H activation/cyclization cascade reaction is described. The reaction involves cyclic 2-diazo-1,3-diketones and N-arylamides, and it proceeds via an intermolecular C-C bond formation and subsequent intramolecular C-N bond formation. A variety of N-acyl-2,3-dihydro-1H-carbazol-4(9H)-ones were obtained under mild conditions in good to excellent yields (65-90%). Key features of this strategy include high-efficiency, operational simplicity, scalability, and broad functional-group tolerance. In addition, H2O and N2 are the only byproducts. Carbazole derivatives with free NH groups can be easily obtained through N-deprotection reactions.

Abstract
An intramolecular exo-hydroarylation of 2-aryloxy-1,4-disilylbut-1-en-3-ynes via ortho-C-H bond activation under palladium(0) and acid catalysis was found to give 2,3-bis(silylmethylidene)-2,3-dihydrobenzofurans. The two silyl groups present probably promoted the reaction and played a key role in stabilizing the diene moiety in the product. The products readily led to functionalized condensed cycles by a Diels-Alder reaction.

Abstract
![]()
A ferraquinone–ferrahydroquinone
organometallic redox couple
was prepared and characterized. Intricate cooperativity of the metal
was observed with different positions on the ligand. This allowed
cooperative activation of small molecules like molecular hydrogen,
oxygen, and bromine. Likewise, dehydrogenation of alcohols was achieved
through 1,6 metal–ligand cooperation.
