Abstract
Three novel organic-inorganic polyoxoniobate-based compounds modified with Cu(II) amine complexes were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions with the chemical formulas as follows: K0.5[Cu(enMe)2]4[K0.5SiNb12O40(VO)4.25](OH)1.5·9H2O (1), K0.5[Cu(enMe)2]4[K0.5H2PNb12O40(VO)2]·12.5H2O (2), and K0.5[Cu(enMe)2]4[K0.5H2VNb12O40(VO)2]·12.5H2O (3) (enMe = 1,2-diaminopropane). These compounds were characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy (IR), UV-Vis spectroscopy, elemental analysis and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis. Notably, while these three compounds exhibit identical cell parameters, they possess distinct stoichiometric compositions and differing polyoxometalate building block structures. Typically, compounds with the same cell parameters are classified as isostructural, sharing identical structures with only minor elemental variations in their compositions. To the best of our knowledge, compounds 1-3 represent the first instances of compounds that share the same cell parameters yet are not isostructural. In this study, we not only synthesized these three compounds and thoroughly examined the differences in their structures and properties, but also investigated their catalytic performances as catalysts for the oxidation of styrene.

Abstract
A new inorganic-organic hybrid polyoxoboroniobate {H4K2[Cu(cis-en)2(H2O)]9[Cu(cis-en)2]6[Cd2(cis-en)2(trans-en)][LiB2Nb29O86]2·79H2O} (1, en = ethylenediamine), is built from pagoda-shaped {LiB2Nb29O86} clusters, linear {Cd2(cis-en)2(trans-en)} bridging units, and copper-amine complexes. The {LiB2Nb29O86} cluster represents the first example of combining oxoboron clusters with polyoxoniobate clusters (PONbs). It consists of an unusual HPONb fragment {LiNb18O54}, a fused-ring structural boroniobate cluster {B2Nb5O13}, and a classical Lindqvist {Nb6O19} fragment. The {Cd2(cis-en)2(trans-en)} and [Cu(cis-en)2]2+ complexes link the pagoda-shaped {LiB2Nb29O86} clusters into 1D infinite ladder chains. This is the first instance of simultaneous coordination of the cis-en and trans-en ligands with a single metal cation in the inorganic-organic hybrid PONb family. Furthermore, 1 exhibits good proton conductivity.

Construction of imidazole@defective hierarchical porous UiO-66 and fibrous composites for rapid and nonbuffered catalytic hydrolysis of organophosphorus nerve agents. Abstract
Hydrolytic destruction of toxic organophosphorus nerve agents by metal-organic framework (MOF) catalysts is commonly reliant on bulk water and volatile liquid base, preventing real-world implementation. Poor accessibility to MOF-based active sites in heterogeneous catalysis is also a crucial factor since reactants diffusion is limited by inherently small micropores. To overcome these practical limitations, a ligand-selective pyrolysis strategy was used to construct unsaturated Zr defects and additional mesopores in UiO-66(Zr). Owing to synergistic effect of Zr defects and hierarchical pores, hydrolysis rate constant (k) of nerve agent simulant DMNP (dimethyl 4-nitrophenyl phosphate) on optimal DHP-UiO-30% (defective hierarchical porous UiO-66) is 3.2 times higher than counterpart UiO-30% in N-ethylmorpholine buffer. Encapsulating imidazole (Im) into DHP-UiO-30% affords Im@DHP-UiO, mimicking phosphotriesterase. Im-72@DHP-UiO exhibits rapid DMNP detoxification with 99% conversion in 12 min and initial half-life (t1/2) of 1.8 min in nonbuffered water. As the first example of 'three-in-one' detoxifier, Im@DHP-UiO is further integrated onto nonwoven fabric to construct Im@DHP/Fiber, achieving solid-phase detoxification at ambient humidity with t1/2 of 19.6 min and final conversion of 91%. This is comparable to many powdered catalysts in aqueous solution buffered by volatile bases. This unified strategy is critical and viable to efficiently hydrolyze nerve agents in practical settings.

Abstract
Efficient adsorption of hazardous substances from the environment is crucial owing to the considerable risks they pose to both humans and ecosystems. Consequently, the development of porous materials with strong adsorption capabilities for hazardous substances, such as chemical warfare agents (CWAs), is pivotal for safeguarding human lives. Specifically, the early-stage adsorption proficiency of the adsorbents plays a vital role in determining their effectiveness as ideal adsorbents. Herein, we report the efficient adsorption of CWA simulants using thermally treated ZIF-8 (T-ZIF-8). The T-ZIF-8 samples were prepared by subjecting ZIF-8 to a simple thermal treatment, which resulted in a more positive surface charge with extra open metal sites. Although the pore volume of T-ZIF-8 decreased after thermal treatment, the positive surface charge of T-ZIF-8 proved advantageous for the adsorption of the CWA simulants. As a result, the adsorption capacity of T-ZIF-8 for the CWA simulants improved compared to that of pure ZIF-8. Notably, T-ZIF-8 exhibited a remarkably enhanced adsorption ability in the early stage of exposure to the CWA simulants, possibly due to the effective polar interactions between T-ZIF-8 and the simulants via the electron-rich components within the CWA simulants. Moreover, the enhanced adsorption capacity of T-ZIF-8 led to the fast degradation of simulant compared to pure ZIF-8. T-ZIF-8 also demonstrated excellent stability over three adsorption cycles. These findings highlight that T-ZIF-8 is an outstanding material for the early-stage adsorption and degradation of CWA simulants, offering high effectiveness and stability.

Abstract
Pickering emulsions provide an efficient platform for interfacial catalysis, but product separation and catalyst recycling rely on time- and energy-consuming centrifugation or filtration. Herein, three hexaniobate-based ionic liquids, [CnMIM]Nb6 (n = 12, 14 and 16), have been successfully synthesized by self-assembly of hexaniobate (Nb6) with long alkyl chain-modified imidazole cations (CnMIM). Interestingly, the surface wettability of [C16MIM]Nb6 can be regulated by redox reactions, and the rapid switch between emulsification and demulsification can be achieved by alternately adding oxidant (H2O2) and reductant (Na2SO3) agents. Furthermore, studies suggest that the redox-responsive behavior is related to the reversible transformation between [C16MIM]Nb6 and peroxohexaniobate [C16MIM]Nb6-O2, which leads to the rearrangement of hydrophobic long chains on imidazole cations around hydrophilic Nb6. Moreover, [C16MIM]Nb6 can effectively catalyze oxidative desulfurization (conversion > 99%), and the separation of clean model oil and the recycling of the interfacial catalyst were realized in a facile route.

Abstract
During the controllable synthesis of two vanadium-containing Keggin-type polyoxoniobates (PONbs), [Ni(en)2]5[PNb12O40(VO)5](OH)5·18H2O (1) and [Ni(en)3]5[PNb12O40(VO)2]∙17H2O (2, en = ethylenediamine) are realized by changing the vanadium source and hydrothermal temperature. Compounds 1 and 2 have been thoroughly characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, FT-IR spectra, X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), etc. Compound 1 contains a penta-capped Keggin-type polyoxoniobate {PNb12O40(VO)5}, which is connected by adjacent [Ni(en)2]2+ units into a three-dimensional (3D) organic-inorganic framework, representing the first nickel complexes connected vanadoniobate-based 3D material. Compound 2 is a discrete di-capped Keggin-type polyoxoniobate {PNb12O40(VO)2} with [Ni(en)3]2+ units as counter cations. Compounds 1 and 2 have poor solubility in common solvents and can keep stable in the pH range of 4 to 14. Notably, both 1 and 2 as electrode materials are active for the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde. Under ambient conditions without adding an alkaline additive, compound 1 as a noble metal free electrocatalyst can achieve 92% conversion of benzyl alcohol, giving a Faraday efficiency of 93%; comparatively, 2 converted 79% of the substrate with a Faraday efficiency of 84%. The control experiments indicate that both the alkaline polyoxoniobate cluster and the capped vanadium atoms play an important role during the electrocatalytic oxidation process.

Abstract
Two inorganic-organic hybrid isopolyoxoniobates (1 and 2) based on new high-nuclearity {Nb54O151} clusters have been synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. In particular, the combination of the unique {Nb54O151} clusters with copper-amine complexes has led to rare helical nanotubes, which are further linked by alkali metal cations or copper-amine complexes into two 2D similar bamboo-raft-like layered networks (1 and 2), respectively. Compound 1 exhibits effective base-catalytic decomposition of chemical warfare agent simulants dimethyl methylphosphonate (DMMP) and diethyl cyanophosphonate (DECP).

Abstract
Chemical warfare agents (CWAs) pose huge threats to ecological environments, agriculture, and human health due to the turbulent international situation in contemporary society. Zirconium hydroxide (Zr(OH)4) has captured the prime focus as an effective candidate for CWA decomposition but is often hindered by the isolated powder form. Here, we demonstrate a scalable three-dimensional space-confined synthetic strategy to fabricate nanoflake-engineered zirconic fibrous aerogels (NZFAs). Our strategy enables the stereoscopic Zr(OH)4 nanoflakes vertically and evenly in situ grown on the interconnected fibrous framework, remarkably enlarging the surface area and providing rich active sites for CWA catalysis. The as-synthesized NZFAs exhibit intriguing properties of ultralow density (>0.37 mg cm-3), shape-memory behavior under 90% strain, and robust fatigue resistance over 106 compression cycles at 40% strain. Meanwhile, the high air permeability, prominent adsorptivity, and reusability make them state-of-the-art chemical protective materials. This work may provide an avenue for developing next-generation aerogel-based catalysts and beyond.

Abstract
Organophosphorus-based chemical warfare agents (CWAs) are highly poisonous, and recent attacks using nerve agents have stimulated researchers to develop breakthrough materials for their fast degradation. Zr-based materials have been identified as the most effective catalysts for breaking down CWAs, but in their powdered form, their practical application in personal protective equipment is limited. Herein, a surface-confined strategy for the direct growth of vertically aligned zirconium hydroxide (Zr(OH)4 ) nanosheets with ultrathin and tortuous structures on nanofibers is reported. The freestanding Zr(OH)4 nanosheet-assembled nanofibrous membranes (NANMs) show superior catalytic performance to degrade dimethyl methylphosphonate, a nerve agent simulant, with a half-life of 4 min. In addition, intriguing membrane-type NANMs feature integrated properties of exceptional breathability, prominent flexibility, and robust fatigue resistance over one million buckling loads. This facile strategy provides a novel route to manufacture new classes of nanosheet-supported membranes for chemical-protective materials, in particular for gas filters, protective suits, and clothing.

Abstract
Three structurally intriguing polyoxoniobates (PONbs) based on the trivacant B-type α-Keggin ion {TeNb9O33}, H4K(CN3H6)2{[Cu4(2,2'-bipy)4(H2O)2][TeNb9V2O37]}·29H2O (1, 2,2'-bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine), H0.5K5Na2.5{[Cu(en)H2O]3[TeNb9V3O39]}·10H2O (2, en = ethylenediamine), and K3Na5{[Cu(1,3-dap)H2O]3[TeNb9V3O39]}·11H2O (3, 1,3-dap = 1,3-diaminopropane), are assembled by the conventional aqueous solution methods using a series of N-containing organic ligands. In 1, each of the two {VO4} units is attached to two coplanar NbO6 octahedra on the {Nb3O13} cluster of the {TeNb9O33} unit. Differently, three {VO4} units in 2 and 3 are linked to two edge-sharing NbO6 octahedra, respectively. Compounds 1-3 represent the first oxo NbTeV clusters and also the first vanadoniobates based on the trivacant Keggin PONb units. All three compounds were characterised by single-crystal X-ray structural analysis, TGA and IR, ESI-MS and 51V NMR spectroscopy. Furthermore, the magnetic properties of compounds 1 and 2 were also studied.

Abstract
A rare 3D porous inorganic-organic polyoxoniobate framework based on the cubic polyoxoniobate-cupric-complex cage {[Cu(en)2]@{[Cu2(en)2(trz)2]6(Nb68O188)}} (1a), has been successfully synthesized by a hydrothermal method. The cubic cages 1a are connected with 4-(tetrazol-5-yl)pyridine to form a 1D pillar-like chain structure, and every 1D pillar-like chain is further linked with four adjacent pillar-like chains by the [Cu(en)2]2+ complex to form a 3D porous inorganic-organic polyoxoniobate framework with 4-connected CdSO4-type topology. To our knowledge, it is the first time that three different types of organic ligands are simultaneously introduced into one polyoxoniobate. This material also exhibits a high vapor adsorption capacity and good ionic conductivity properties.

Abstract
Abstract
Syntheses were performed at room temperature using Ni(NO3)2·6H2O, cyclam (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) and the precursors Li8[Nb6O19]· ≈22H2O or Na7[HNb6O19]·15H2O in a DMSO-H2O mixture. Yellow crystals of the new compound {[Ni(cyclam)]2H4Nb6O19}·12H2O could be obtained after one week applying the Li+ or Na+ salt as starting materials. The crystal structure is unique in polyoxoniobate (PONb) chemistry and displays two interpenetrating three-dimensional (3D) networks. The [Nb6O19]8– anion is expanded by four Ni2+ centered complexes via Ni–O bonds to terminal O2− anions of the hexaniobate anion. The 3D networks are generated by further Ni–O bond formation between neighboring [Nb6O19]8− anions. The remaining void space is occupied by H2O molecules which form a water cluster.

Abstract
ε-[Al13O4(OH)24(H2O)12]7+, which shares similarity with the phosphotriesterase active site ZnII-OH-ZnII, was specially chosen to interact with the cluster α-PMo10V2O405- to form a new three-dimensional intercluster, which crystallized in the monoclinic space group P21/m with Z = 2, for the decontamination of chemical warfare agents. The experimental results showed that 50 mg of the compound decontaminated 96.4% (within 120 min) and 99.5% (within 40 min) of sulfur mustard (HD) (4 μL) and soman (GD) (4 μL), respectively, in ambient conditions. The decontamination processes followed first-order reaction kinetics with a rate constant and half-life of 0.01234 min-1 and 56.15 min for HD and 0.1198 min-1 and 5.78 min for GD, respectively. It was concluded that the α-PMo10V2O405- moiety was responsible for the catalytic oxidation of HD into non-toxic sulfoxide, while the ε-[Al13O4(OH)24(H2O)12]7+ moiety was responsible for the catalytic hydrolysis of HD and GD into nontoxic hydrolysates. Besides, the compound showed notable efficacy for the decontamination of HD on guinea pig skin and of GD on Kunming mouse skin, indicating high potential for use in human skin protection and treatment.

Abstract
Two new dodeca-niobate materials, K3[Nb2O2][H7SiNb12O40]·16H2O (1) and [Cu(en)2]9[(VNb12V1.69Nb0.31O42en0.31)2]·20.69H2O (2) (en = ethylenediamine), have been obtained under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR, UV-Vis, XRD, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that compound 1 presents a reasonable bridging layer structure model and that K plays a great role in the three-dimensional structure. Compound 2 is the first capped Keggin POM with organic ligand chelating the capping atom. The photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and styrene epoxidation catalytic properties of the two compounds were also assessed. Additionally, compound 1 is also a good photocatalyst to degrade RhB.

Abstract
Self-detoxifying fabrics are desirable forms for protection against chemical warfare agents (CWAs). Zirconium-based metal-organic frameworks (Zr-MOFs) have emerged as one of the fastest catalysts for nerve-agent hydrolysis, but there is still a lack of reliable methods to integrate them onto fibrous supports, and instantaneous detoxification remains challenging for MOF/fiber composites. Herein, we report a bio-inspired polydopamine (PDA)-mediated strategy for the preparation of Zr-MOF (UiO-66-NH2)-coated nanofiber membranes, which are capable of photothermally catalyzing the degradation of CWA simulants. UiO-66-NH2 nanocrystalline coating with high mass loading, perfect coverage, and good adhesion is readily formed on polyamide (PA)-6 nanofibers with the precoated PDA layer. The prepared PA-6@PDA@UiO-66-NH2 nanofibers display almost an order of magnitude higher turnover frequency (TOF) for the hydrolysis of the nerve agent simulant dimethyl 4-nitrophenylphosphate (DMNP) when irradiated under simulated solar light, with a half-life of only 0.5 min. Such a hydrolysis rate is significantly higher compared to that of the corresponding UiO-66-NH2 powder and UiO-66-NH2/fiber composites reported so far. This strategy may be easily generalized to other MOF/fiber pairs to achieve even higher performance and opens up new opportunities for solar photothermal catalysis in CWA protection.

Abstract
The threat of chemical warfare agents (CWAs), assured by their ease of synthesis and effectiveness as a terrorizing weapon, will persist long after the once-tremendous stockpiles in the U.S. and elsewhere are finally destroyed. As such, soldier and civilian protection, battlefield decontamination, and environmental remediation from CWAs remain top national security priorities. New chemical approaches for the fast and complete destruction of CWAs have been an active field of research for many decades, and new technologies have generated immense interest. In particular, our research team and others have shown metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and polyoxometalates (POMs) to be active for sequestering CWAs and even catalyzing the rapid hydrolysis of agents. In this Forum Article, we highlight recent advancements made in the understanding and evaluation of POMs and Zr-based MOFs as CWA decontamination materials. Specifically, our aim is to bridge the gap between controlled, solution-phase laboratory studies and real-world or battlefield-like conditions by examining agent-material interactions at the gas-solid interface utilizing a multimodal experimental and computational approach. Herein, we report our progress in addressing the following research goals: (1) elucidating molecular-level mechanisms of the adsorption, diffusion, and reaction of CWA and CWA simulants within a series of Zr-based MOFs, such as UiO-66, MOF-808, and NU-1000, and POMs, including Cs8Nb6O19 and (Et2NH2)8[(α-PW11O39Zr(μ-OH)(H2O))2]·7H2O, (2) probing the effects that common ambient gases, such as CO2, SO2, and NO2, have on the efficacy of the MOF and POM materials for CWA destruction, and (3) using CWA simulant results to develop hypotheses for live agent chemistry. Key hypotheses are then tested with targeted live agent studies. Overall, our collaborative effort has provided insight into the fundamental aspects of agent-material interactions and revealed strategies for new catalyst development.

Abstract
A novel polyoxoniobate cluster directed by AsO33-, {[Cu(phen)]5[Nb6O19][As2Nb6O22]}2 (1a), has been successfully synthesized by a "two-pot" strategy, namely, the conventional aqueous solution and diffusional methods. It incorporates two {[Cu(phen)]2Nb6O19} and two {[Cu(phen)]3As2Nb6O22} subunits. Surprisingly, by changing the reaction conditions, one of the subunits {[Cu(phen)]2Nb6O19} was isolated as a guanidinium salt. These architectures were structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction, TGA, IR, elemental analysis and PXRD, etc. Furthermore, the behavior of 1 in aqueous solution was measured by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, and the magnetic property in the low temperature range indicates the presence of antiferromagnetic interactions.
