Abstract
We have developed a visible-light-driven method for thioester synthesis that relies on the unique dual role of thiobenzoic acids as one-electron reducing agents and reactants leading to the formation of sulfur radical species. This synthetic process offers a wide scope, accommodating various thioacid and thiol substrates without the need for a photocatalyst.

Abstract
Highly efficient and practical carbon-chalcogen (S, Se) and amide bonds formation methodologies for the synthesis of thio- and seleno-acetamides were developed, via the base-promoted one-pot two-step reactions of 2-amino(benzo)thiazoles and aryl acetyl chlorides with dichalcogenides. This cross-coupling reaction afforded the goal products that had been chalcogenated regioselectively in moderate to good yields. Further transformations of the new synthesized compounds, DFT calculations and preliminary mechanism studies are discussed as well.

Abstract
The development of stable and efficient ligands is of vital significance to enhance the catalytic performance of carbonylation reactions of alkenes. Herein, an aryldiphosphine ligand (L11) bearing the [Ph2P(ortho-C6H4)]2CH2 skeleton is reported for palladium-catalyzed regioselective carbonylation of alkenes. Compared with the industrially successful Pd/1,2-bis(di-tert-butylphosphinomethyl)benzene catalyst, catalytic efficiency catalyzed by Pd/L11 on methoxycarbonylation of ethylene is obtained, exhibiting better catalytic performance (TON: >2,390,000; TOF: 100,000 h-1; selectivity: >99%) and stronger oxygen-resistance stability. Moreover, a substrate compatibility (122 examples) including chiral and bioactive alkenes or alcohols is achieved with up to 99% yield and 99% regioselectivity. Experimental and computational investigations show that the appropriate bite angle of aryldiphosphine ligand and the favorable interaction of 1,4-dioxane with Pd/L11 synergistically contribute to high activity and selectivity while the electron deficient phosphines originated from electron delocalization endow L11 with excellent oxygen-resistance stability.

Abstract
A Pd-catalyzed thiocarbonylative cyclization of N-(o-iodoaryl)acrylamides with easily accessible thioformates has been developed. The reaction has a wide substrate scope with good yields and represents a powerful route to the synthesis of thioester-functionalized oxindoles. Both S-aryl and alkyl thioformates as the thioester sources were well tolerated. The active Pd-CO intermediate may play an important role in the transformation process.

Abstract
Developing efficient and straightforward strategies to rapidly construct structurally distinct and diverse organic molecules is one of the most fundamental tasks in organic synthesis, drug discovery and materials science. In recent years, divergent synthesis of organic functional molecules from the same starting materials has attracted significant attention and has been recognized as an efficient and powerful strategy. To achieve this objective, the proper adjustment of reaction conditions, such as catalysts, solvents, ligands, etc., is required. In this review, we summarized the recent efforts in chemo-, regio- and stereodivergent reactions involving acyclic and cyclic systems catalyzed by palladium complexes. Meanwhile, the reaction types, including carbonylative reactions, coupling reactions and cycloaddition reactions, as well as the probable mechanism have also been highlighted in detail.

Abstract
A vinylogous addition reaction of allyl aryl ketones with good yields and excellent regioselectivity catalyzed by squaramide catalysts has been developed. A series of chiral tertiary alcohols and bicyclic pyrrolidones could be synthesized in good to excellent yields, enantioselectivities, and diaseteroselectivities. Both experimental results and DFT calculations indicate that 1,2-addition reaction is favorable when the reaction is employed at a lower temperature, while the 1,4-addition/cyclization pathway is favorable when the reaction is employed at a higher temperature. Furthermore, the formation of compound 4 can potentially arise from either the 1,4-addition/cyclization pathway or retro-aldol reaction of compound 3, followed by subsequent 1,4-addition/cyclization.

Abstract
The electrochemical synthesis of N-aroylsulfoximines features the use of tetra-n-butylammonium iodide (TBAI) as the medium and a broad substrate scope, thus affording a wide range of N-aroylated sulfoximines in moderate to good yields. The advantages of this electrochemical strategy are augmented by mild reaction conditions that are external oxidant-free, ligand-free, and easy to scale up to gram scale. Both the control experiments and the mechanistic studies revealed that the whole electrochemical process proceeded through a palladium (II/IV/II) catalytic cycle.

Abstract
We describe a unique strategy for generating thioesters from carboxylic acids and thioesters. This transformation features operational simplicity and high step-economy, wherein the -SR moiety of thioesters was smoothly transferred to carboxylic acid from thioacetates as the starting material. Various substrates with different levels of electronic nature were all applicable to this reaction, furnishing thioesters in moderate to outstanding yields. According to the preliminary mechanistic studies, the anhydride intermediates may be involved in the present reaction.

Abstract
Two reagent-controlled regiodivergent annulation protocols for Achmatowicz products with vinylogous nucleophiles have been developed, which furnished a series of bicyclic cyclopenta[b]pyrans and 8-oxabicyclo[3.2.1]octane derivatives in 28-90% yields. Plausible mechanisms were proposed to involve either Pd-catalyzed Tsuji-Trost allyl-allyl coupling and concomitant Michael cyclization or quinine-promoted cascade stepwise [5 + 2] cycloaddition and intramolecular Michael cyclization.

Abstract
Herein we reported a novel approach to synthesize thioesters with S-aryl thioformates as thioester sources. The reaction proceeded at ambient temperature using widely available starting ingredients, wherein the thioester moiety was smoothly transferred to aryl iodides from S-aryl thioformates. A variety of substrates with various electronic natures were all tolerated under the reaction conditions to furnish desirable thioesters in ranges from moderate to excellent yields. The gram-scale reaction was also conducted, and there was virtually little change in chemical yield, indicating that large-scale synthesis of thioesters may be viable using this method.

Abstract
The introduction of fluorine atoms into organic molecules is an attractive but challenging topic. In this work, an interesting palladium-catalyzed difluoroalkylative carbonylation of aryl olefins has been developed. A wide range of aryl olefins were transformed into the corresponding difluoropentanedioate compounds with good functional-group tolerance and excellent regioselectivity. Inexpensive ethyl bromodifluoroacetate acts both as a difluoroalkyl precursor and a nucleophile here. Additionally, a scale-up reaction was also performed successfully, and further transformations of the obtained product were shown as well.

Abstract
A straightforward and efficient synthesis of α,β-unsaturated thioesters has been developed via a nickel-catalyzed thiocarbonylation reaction of vinyl triflates with arylsulfonyl chlorides. With Mo(CO)6 as both CO source and reductant, a variety of α,β-unsaturated thioesters were obtained in moderate to good yields with very good functional group compatibility. It is noteworthy that the present method is the first example on nickel-catalyzed carbonylative synthesis of α,β-unsaturated thioesters by using arylsulfonyl chlorides as the coupling partner.

Abstract
Controllable production of α-keto amides and amides from the same substrates is an attractive goal in the field of transition-metal-catalyzed (double-)carbonylation. Herein, a novel copper-catalyzed highly selective double carbonylation of alkyl bromides has been developed. Moderate to good yields of α-keto amides were obtained as the only products. In the case of alkyl iodides, double- and mono-carbonylation can be achieved controllably under different conditions.

Abstract
Oxalic acid monothioester (OAM), an easily accessible and bench-stable reagent, is reported herein as a synthetic equivalent of thioester for palladium-catalyzed decarboxylative hydrothiocarbonylation of vinylarenes to achieve both branched and linear regioselectivity. The reactions provided user-friendly synthetic methods for preparation of alfa- or beta-arylated propionic acid thioesters from vinylarenes without directly handling toxic carbon monoxide and odorous thiols.

Abstract
Rhodium-catalyzed regio- and enantioselective hydrothiolation of terminal allenes with thioacids is reported for the atom-economic synthesis of chiral branched allylic thioesters. By using a rhodium(I) catalyst system, diversities of terminal allenes and thioacids afforded the corresponding branched thioesters in excellent regioselectivity, high yield, and good enantioselectivity. This method was also explored for Fmoc-protected aminothioacids for diastereoselective synthesis of the corresponding thioesters.

Abstract
Ligand-controlled regiodivergence has been developed for catalytic semireduction of allenamides with excellent chemo- and stereocontrol. This system also provides an example of catalytic regiodivergent semireduction of allenes for the first time. The divergence of the semireduction is enabled by ligand switch with the same palladium pre-catalyst under operationally simple and mild conditions. Monodentate ligand XPhos exclusively promotes selective 1,2-semireduction to afford allylic amides, while bidentate ligand BINAP completely switched the regioselectivity to 2,3-semireduction, producing (E)-enamide derivatives.
