Synthesis, structural characterization, antioxidant, cytotoxic activities and docking studies of schiff base Cu(II) complexes

By combining hydrazide with 2-Acetylpyridine, a hydrazone ligand (HL) was successfully created. Several copper (II) salts have been used to create three copper (II) hydrazone complexes (acetate, sulphate, and chloride). The hydrazide ligand and its copper (II) complexes (1-3) were studied via variety of analytical techniques, including elemental analysis, electronic, infrared, UV-vis Spectrum, XRD study, thermal analysis, also molar conductivity amounts. The spectrum results indicate that in all complexes, the ligand exhibits monobasic tridentate behavior. Octahedral geometries were present in all metal complexes. The Coats-Redfern equations were used to compute and describe the dynamics properties of several steps of TGA (Ea, A, ΔH*, ΔS*, and ΔG*). Calculations using the density functional theory (DFT) were done at the molecular studio software toward examine ligands agent's and its complexes' best structures. The MCF-7 in addition to HepG-2 cell lines was resistant to tumor-inducing effects of the copper (II) chelates. The in vitro antioxidant capacities of all complexes have been estimated via DPPH free radical scavenger assays. Furthermore, zones of inhibition length accustomed to test antimicrobial effect of particular complexes in vitro towards Staphylococcus aureus (Gram positive bacteria) E. coli (Gram negative bacteria). Both absorption spectra and viscosity measurements in calf thymus DNA binding have been used to study the complexes. In order to explore docking research of copper (II) chelates, the crystallographic construction of the SARS-active CoV-2's site protein (PDB ID:6XBH) was used (COVID-19) and breast cancer distorted (PDB ID: 3hb5).

Understanding Contact Electrification at Water/Polymer Interface

Contact electrification (CE) involves a complex interplay of physical interactions in realistic material systems. For this reason, scientific consensus on the qualitative and quantitative importance of different physical mechanisms on CE remains a formidable task. The CE mechanism at a water/polymer interface is a crucial challenge owing to the poor understanding of charge transfer at the atomic level. First-principle density functional theory (DFT), used in the present work, proposes a new paradigm to address CE. Our results indicate that CE follows the same trend as the gap between the highest occupied and lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals (HOMO and LUMO) of polymers. Electron transfer occurs at the outmost atomic layer of the water/polymer interface and is closely linked to the functional groups and atom locations. When the polymer chains are parallel to the water layer, most electrons are transferred; conversely, if they are perpendicular to each other, the transfer of charges can be ignored. We demonstrate that a decrease in the interface distance between water and the polymer chains leads to CE in quantitative agreement with the electron cloud overlap model. We finally use DFT calculations to predict the properties of CE materials and their potential for triboelectric nanogenerator energy harvesting devices.

Coumarin 102 excitation in aqueous media: contributions of vibronic coupling and hydration

A mononuclear cobalt(II) salophen-type complex: Synthesis, theoretical and experimental electronic absorption and infrared spectra, crystal structure, and predicting of second- and third-order nonlinear optical properties

A tetradentate Schiff base ligand, (4-nitro-N,N'-o-phenylene-bis(5-methoxysalicylideneimine)) (H₂L), and its cobalt(II) complex (CoL•DMF) were synthesized. Elemental analysis, and FT-IR and ¹H NMR spectra were used to confirm the molecular structure of H₂L ligand. In addition, elemental analysis, molar conductance measurement, infrared and electronic absorption spectroscopies as well as single crystal X-ray diffraction were employed to distinguish the molecular structure of the complex that has a slightly distorted square-planar geometry around the cobalt(II) ion. The geometries of H₂L and CoL were optimized by means of the DFT/(U)PBE0/Def2-TZVP level of theory. Good agreement of the optimized geometric parameters of the complex with the corresponding experimental ones and successfully reproduction of the FT-IR spectra of the ligand and complex validated the applied method. Based on the optimized structure of CoL, its electronic absorption spectrum was reproduced by using time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) at the same level. Its analysis was carried out to assign the observed electronic transitions and determine their characters. The computed nonlinear optical (NLO) parameters (β, γ and < γ > values) of H₂L and CoL by using TDDFT at the same level combined with the sum-over-states (SOS) method are considerable larger values than reference compound i.e. urea. The ligand and the complex in the absence of nitro and methoxy moieties referred to as H₂L' and CoL' respectively were optimized to elucidate the effect of these moieties on hyperpolarizabilities values.
