Abstract
A novel, efficient, and recyclable mesoporous Fe3O4@SiO2@SBA-3@CPTMS@Arg-Cu nanocatalyst was synthesized by grafting l-arginine (with the ability to coordinate with Cu) onto a mixed phase of a magnetic mesoporous SBA-3 support. The catalyst was characterized using several techniques, including Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, N2 adsorption-desorption analysis, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) analysis, and atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS). The resulting solid material possessed a surface area of 145 m2 g-1 and a total pore volume of 34 cm3 g-1. The prepared mesoporous material was studied as a practical, recyclable, and chemoselective catalyst in some organic functional group transformations such as the conversion of nitriles to amides and synthesis of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazoles. This novel magnetic nanocatalyst proved to be effective and provided the products in high to excellent yields under green solvent conditions. Meanwhile, the as-prepared Fe3O4@SiO2@SBA-3@CPTMS@Arg-Cu demonstrated excellent reusability and stability under reaction conditions, and its catalytic activity shown only a slight decrease after seven consecutive runs. Therefore, the as-synthesized magnetic Fe3O4@SiO2@SBA-3@CPTMS@Arg-Cu has broad prospects for practical applications, and offers various benefits such as simplicity, nontoxicity, low cost, simple work-up, and an environmentally benign nature.

Abstract
In this paper, a new type of magnetic mesoporous material (Fe3O4@SiO2@KIT-6@2-ATP@CuI) was designed and synthesized and its application in the synthesis of amides and anilines was investigated. The structure of Fe3O4@SiO2@KIT-6@2-ATP@CuI was characterized and identified using FTIR, SEM, XRD, TGA, BET, VSM, and ICP techniques. An external magnet can easily remove the synthesized catalyst from the reaction medium, and be reused in several consequence runs.

Abstract
Development of heterogeneous catalysts from biomass-derived activated carbon is a challenging task. Biomass-derived activated carbon possesses a large specific surface area, highly porous structure, and good thermal/chemical stability. Magnetic copper catalysts based on biomass-derived activated carbon exhibited good catalytic activity in base-free Chan-Lam coupling and oxidations. Herein, biomass-derived activated carbon was prepared by the carbonization of neem dead leaves (abundant waste biomass) followed by chemical activation with KOH. Such a porous carbon material was used as a low cost and highly efficient support material for the preparation of inexpensive and environmentally benign magnetic catalysts [Cu@KF-C/MFe2O4, M = Co, Cu, Ni, and Zn]. In addition, KF modification was done to impart basic character to the catalyst that can perform C-N coupling under base-free conditions. Initially, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis of the synthesized catalysts was carried out, which indicated that Cu@KF-C/CoFe2O4 possess more surface area as well as pore volume, and so accounting for the highest activity among the other synthesized catalysts. Further, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis was performed, which inferred that Cu@KF-C/CoFe2O4 contains most of the copper in reduced form, i.e., Cu(0), which is the active species responsible for better catalytic activity toward Chan-Lam coupling reactions as well as oxidation of alcohols and hydrocarbons. The physiochemical properties of the most active catalyst, Cu@KF-C/CoFe2O4, was examined by BET, XPS, Fourier transform infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), field emission gun scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) mapping, energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), and vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM). Moreover, Cu@KF-C/CoFe2O4 shows excellent stability as well as reusability and could be easily separated with the help of an external magnet.

Abstract
To explore the synergism between two metal centers we have synthesized graphene oxide (GO) supported Pd/Cu@GO, Pd@GO and Cu@GO nanoparticles through bio-reduction of Pd(NO3)2 and CuSO4·5H2O using Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum) leaf extract as the reducing and stabilizing agent. The graphene oxide (GO) was obtained by oxidation of graphite following a simplified Hummer's method. The as-prepared nanomaterials have been extensively characterized by FTIR, powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), HRTEM, TEM-EDS, XPS, ICP-AES and BET surface area measurement techniques. The morphological study of Pd/Cu@GO revealed that crystalline bimetallic alloy type particles were dispersed on the GO layer. The activity of Pd@GO, Cu@GO and Pd/Cu@GO as catalysts for the Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction have been investigated and it was found that the Pd/Cu@GO nanostructure showed highly superior catalytic activity over its monometallic counterparts, substantiating the cooperative influence of the two metals. The inter-atom Pd/Cu transmetalation between surfaces was thought to be responsible for its synergistic activity. The catalyst showed higher selectivity towards coupling of aryl iodides with both aliphatic and aryl alkynes resulting in moderate to excellent isolated yield of the desired products (45-99%). The products have been characterized by GC-MS and 1H-NMR spectroscopic techniques and compared with authentic samples. The Pd/Cu@GO catalyst could be easily isolated from the reaction products and reused for up to at least ten successive runs effectively.

Abstract
Heterogeneous catalysis plays a key role in promoting green chemistry through many routes. The functionalizable reactive silanols highlight silica as a beguiling support for the preparation of heterogeneous catalysts. Metal active sites anchored on functionalized silica (FS) usually demonstrate the better dispersion and stability due to their firm chemical interaction with FSs. Having certain functional groups in structure, FSs can act as the useful catalysts for few organic reactions even without the need of metal active sites which are termed as the covetous reusable organocatalysts. Magnetic FSs have laid the platform where the effortless recovery of catalysts is realized just using an external magnet, resulting in the simplified reaction procedure. Using FSs of multiple functional groups, we can envisage the shortened reaction pathway and, reduced chemical uses and chemical wastes. Unstable bio-molecules like enzymes have been stabilized when they get chemically anchored on FSs. The resultant solid bio-catalysts exhibited very good reusability in many catalytic reactions. Getting provoked from the green chemistry aspects and benefits of FS-based catalysts, we confer the recent literature and progress focusing on the significance of FSs in heterogeneous catalysis. This review covers the preparative methods, types and catalytic applications of FSs. A special emphasis is given to the metal-free FS catalysts, multiple FS-based catalysts and magnetic FSs. Through this review, we presume that the contribution of FSs to green chemistry can be well understood. The future perspective of FSs and the improvements still required for implementing FS-based catalysts in practical applications have been narrated at the end of this review.
