Abstract
The medicinal chemistry of ferrocene has gained its momentum after the discovery of biological activities of ferrocifen and ferroquine. These ferrocenyl drugs have been designed by replacing the aromatic moiety of the organic drugs, tamoxifen and chloroquine respectively, with a ferrocenyl unit. The promising biological activities of these ferrocenyl drugs have paved a path to explore the medicinal applications of several ferrocenyl conjugates. In these conjugates, the ferrocenyl moiety has played a vital role in enhancing or imparting the anticancer activity to the molecule. The ferrocenyl conjugates induce the cytotoxicity by generating reactive oxygen species and thereby damaging the DNA. In medicinal chemistry, the five membered nitrogen heterocycles (azoles) play a significant role due to their rigid ring structure and hydrogen bonding ability with the biomolecules. Several potent drug candidates with azole groups have been in use as chemotherapeutics. Considering the importance of ferrocenyl moiety and azole groups, several ferrocenyl azole conjugates have been synthesized and screened for their biological activities. Hence, in the view of a wide scope in the development of potent drugs based on ferrocenyl azole conjugates, herein we present the details of synthesis and the anticancer activities of ferrocenyl compounds bearing azole groups such as imidazole, triazoles, thiazole and isoxazoles.

Abstract
A series of novel hydrazone compounds have been synthesized by the condensation of hydrazines and different substituted salicylaldehydes at a molar ratio of 1:1 in one step reaction and characterized by FT-IR, ESI-MS, 1H NMR, and single crystal x-ray diffraction. The crystal structure of the compound shows a trans configuration around the C = N bond and triclinic system with P -1/-p 1. Synthesized compounds were screened for cytotoxicity activities against A375 (melanoma), HT-29 (Colon), and A549 (lung) cancer cell lines. Among them, compound 2 exhibited the highest cytotoxic effect against the A375 cell line (IC50 = 0.30 µM) and HT-29 cell line (1.68 µM), compared to those of apatinib as a reference standard drug (0.28, 1.49 µM, respectively). The cytocompatibility assay on the L929 normal cell line and the hemolysis assay on human RBC were used to validate the non-toxic action. From DFT calculation, the various parameters such as HOMO-LUMO energies, Hirshfeld, and MEP have been studied. Furthermore, in silico molecular docking with three receptors was studied. Among four compounds, compound 2 has the lowest binding energy against cyclin dependent kinase (ΔGb = -9.3 kcal/mol). In addition to this, molecular dynamics (MD) simulation was also performed. Based on this study, these novel hydrazones can be considered a promising anticancer agent due to their potent cytotoxicity activities and computational analysis.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Sarma.

Abstract
Acetyl ferrocene and diacetyl ferrocene both readily react with an excess of hydrazine to afford the corresponding hydrazone compounds. These compounds can then be linked to Re(CO)3 via a metal-mediated Schiff base reaction, resulting in a series of ferrocene-Re(CO)3 conjugates with different stoichiometries. Conjugates with 1:1, 1:2, and 2:1 ferrocene: Re(CO)3 ratios can be produced via this "modular" type synthesis approach. Several examples of these conjugates were structurally characterized, and their spectroscopic, electrochemical, and spectroelectrochemical behaviors were investigated. The electronic structures of these compounds were also probed using DFT and TDDFT calculations.

Abstract
A mixed Cd(II) complex {[Cd(FcCOO)2(dpyam)(H2O)][Cd(dpyam)2 (H2O)2]·(ClO4)2·CH3OH} (1) (where FcCOO=ferrocenecarboxylic acid and dpyam=2,2'-dipyridylamine), has been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, (1)H &(13)C NMR, UV-Vis spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The molecular structure of compound 1 has been determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction technique, which consists of mixed two different cadmium(II) complexes and two uncoordinated perchlorate ions. The crystal packing shows that the compound 1 self-assembled by intermolecular hydrogen bonding via pyridyl N-H⋯O and coordinated water O⋯H-O-H⋯O, to afford the molecule 2D supramolecular network. Compound 1 exhibits high-energy intraligand (π-π(∗)) fluorescence emission. In electrochemical studies of compound 1 shows negative potential compared with ferrocenecarboxylic acid due to formation of coordination complex with Cd ions. The antibacterial study against the distinct bacterial strains show compound 1 has significant activity.

Abstract
Ternary copper(II) and binary copper(II), nickel(II) and cobalt(II) complexes derived from 4,4'-((4-nitro-1,2-phenylene)bis(azanylylidene))bis(3-(hydroxyimino)pentan-2-one) (H2L) were synthesized and characterized by elemental and thermal analyses, IR, UV-Vis. and (1)H NMR spectroscopy, conductivity and magnetic moments measurements. The analytical and spectral data showed that, the ligand acts as dibasic tetradentate or dibasic hexadentate bonding to the metal ion via the two-imine nitrogen, two nitrogen and/or oximato oxygen atoms of deprotonated oxime groups forming five and/or six rings including the metal ions. The complexes adopt either tetragonal distorted octahedral or square planar geometry around metal ions. The ESR spectra of the solid copper(II) complexes are characteristic to d(9) configuration and having an axial symmetry type of a d(x2-y2) ground state. The g values confirmed the geometry is elongated tetragonal octahedral geometry with considerably ionic or covalent environment. The antifungal biological activity of the prepared compounds was studied using well diffusion method. The obtained results showed that, the ligand is biologically inactive while its metal complexes were more potent fungicides than the ligand and standard antifungal drug (Amphotericin B).

Abstract
The title compound, [Fe(C7H9N2)2], crystallizes with two crystallographically independent molecules in the unit cell. These represent the chiral atropoisomers distinguished by the mutual arrangement of the two acetyl–hydrazone groups with a cis conformation of the C=N bonds. The two cyclopentadienyl (Cp) rings are planar and nearly parallel, the tilt between the two rings being 3.16 (16)° [4.40 (18)° for the second independent molecule]. The conformation of the Cp rings is close to eclipsed, the twist angle being 0.1 (2)° [3.3 (2)°]. The two acetyl–hydrazone substituents are also planar and are inclined at 13.99 (15)/9.17 (16)° [6.83 (17)/14.59 (15)°] relative to the Cp rings. The Fe—C bond lengths range from 2.035 (3) to 2.065 (2) Å, with an average of 2.050 (3) Å [2.036 (3) to 2.069 (2), average 2.046 (3) Å], which agrees well with those reported for most ferrocene derivatives. In the crystal, the molecules form dimers via two strong N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds. The dimers are linked into a three-dimensional framework by weak N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

Abstract
This study reports a very selective, easy, and precise method for rapid separation of trace amounts of copper in aqueous samples using octadecyl silica-bonded phase membrane disks modified by 2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diylbis(thio)]dianiline (EDTD) combined with flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination. In addition, the synthesis and spectral characterization of EDTD have been described in detail. All the affecting experimental variables such as pH, amount of modifier, eluent type, sample and eluent flow rate, interfering ions, and disk capacity were also investigated. The target analyte (trace copper) was quantitatively retained at pH = 4 and eluted with 6.0 mL of 0.5 M HNO3 at flow rates of 40 and 10 mL min−1 for analyte passage and elution steps, respectively, through the disks modified with 17.0 mg of EDTD. The proposed method also allows an enrichment factor of about 500 and has a detection limit of 0.005 ng mL−1. The method has been successfully applied for isolation and determination of copper in different water samples, peppers, and standard alloys.
