Abstract
MPVFD (Massive perivillous fibrin deposition) is placental lesion characterized by extensive massive deposits of fibrin in the intervillous space, extending over at least 25 % of the placental volume. Currently, this pathology can only be detected through histopathological examination of the placenta after a pregnancy has ended. The underlying mechanisms are poorly studied, there is no biomarker available for the diagnosis of MPVFD and treatment protocols are experimental and still lacking. The objective of this study is to systematically review the literature on the associated clinicopathologic features, treatment, and prognosis of MPVFD. We ended up with 17 studies, of these 12 studies were considered relevant for this article and included in the final analysis. All studies reporting MPVFD are retrospective. MPVFD is associated with recurrent miscarriage, intra uterine fetal death (IUFD), intra uterine growth restriction (IUGR) and preterm delivery. The prevalence in pregnancies with a delivery after 22 weeks of gestation was at 1.1 % and even higher to 2.7 % in recurrent early miscarriages. The reported risk of fetal death in MPVFD ranges mainly from 15 to 80 %. Preterm delivery is spontaneous in 50 to 70 % of cases and induced by of a severe intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR) in 30 to 50 % of cases depending on the study. Its causes and treatment are still poorly understood, although several avenues have been explored. This review summarizes current understanding of the prevalence, diagnostic features, clinical consequences, immune pathology, and potential prophylaxis against recurrence in this chronic inflammatory placental syndrome.

Abstract
We report a case of a 42-year-old woman (Gravida 1, Para 1) who presented in her third trimester of pregnancy with a photo distributed eruption and arthralgias and was subsequently diagnosed with dermatomyositis. She had an emergency Caesarean section at 34 weeks plus 6 days gestation due to decreased fetal movements and non-reassuring fetal heart rate. Her placenta was sent for histopathology and showed features of massive perivillous fibrin deposition. To our knowledge, this is the first case of MDA-5 positive dermatomyositis in pregnancy with a live delivery.

Abstract
Doppler techniques are needed for the evaluation of the intraplacental circulation and can be of great value in the diagnosis of placental anomalies. Highly sensitive Doppler techniques can differentiate between the maternal (spiral arteries) and fetal (intraplacental branches of the umbilical artery) components of the placental circulation and assist in the evaluation of the placental functional units. A reduced number of placental functional units can be associated with obstetric complications, such as fetal growth restriction. Doppler techniques can also provide information on decidual vessels and blood movement. Abnormal decidual circulation increases the risk of placenta accreta. Doppler evaluation of the placenta greatly contributes to the diagnosis and clinical management of placenta accreta, vasa previa, placental infarcts, placental infarction hematoma, maternal floor infarction, massive perivillous fibrin deposition and placental tumors. However, it has a limited role in the diagnosis and clinical management of placental abruption, placental hematomas, placental mesenchymal dysplasia and mapping of placental anastomoses in monochorionic twin pregnancies. © 2021 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Pregnancy outcomes in women with inflammatory myopathies (IM) are not well studied. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of IM on maternal and neonatal outcomes. METHODS We conducted a retrospective cohort study using data from the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project - Nationwide Inpatient Sample (HCUP-NIS) from 1999 to 2015. Among all pregnant women who delivered during this period, those with a diagnosis of IM were identified using the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM) coding, which included all patients with dermatomyositis and polymyositis. Maternal and neonatal outcomes were compared in pregnant women with and without IM. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to estimate the adjusted effects of IM on these outcomes. RESULTS A total of 13,792,544 pregnant women delivered between 1999 and 2015, of which 308 had a diagnosis of IM, for an overall prevalence of 2 per 100,000 pregnant women, with rates increasing over the study period. Pregnant women with IM were more likely to be older, African American and suffer from other autoimmune connective tissue diseases. IM in pregnancy was associated with greater risk of preeclampsia, caesarean delivery, major postpartum infections, urinary tract infections and longer hospital stay. Neonates born to mothers with IM had greater risk of prematurity, small for gestational age and intrauterine fetal demise. CONCLUSIONS Pregnant women with IM are at higher risk of adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes and should be closely followed in specialized centers with collaboration between maternal-fetal medicine and rheumatology.

Abstract
Chronic inflammatory placental disorders are a group of rare but devastating gestational syndromes associated with adverse pregnancy outcome. This review focuses on three related conditions: villitis of unknown etiology (VUE), chronic histiocytic intervillositis (CHI) and massive perivillous fibrin deposition (MPFD). The hallmark of these disorders is infiltration of the placental architecture by maternal immune cells and disruption of the intervillous space, where gas exchange between the mother and fetus occurs. Currently, they can only be detected through histopathological examination of the placenta after a pregnancy has ended. All three are associated with a significant risk of recurrence in subsequent pregnancies. Villitis of unknown etiology is characterised by a destructive infiltrate of maternal CD8+ T lymphocytes invading into the chorionic villi, combined with activation of fetal villous macrophages. The diagnosis can only be made when an infectious aetiology has been excluded. VUE becomes more common as pregnancy progresses and is frequently seen with normal pregnancy outcome. However, severe early-onset villitis is usually associated with fetal growth restriction and recurrent pregnancy loss. Chronic histiocytic intervillositis is characterised by excessive accumulation of maternal CD68+ histiocytes in the intervillous space. It is associated with a wide spectrum of adverse pregnancy outcomes including high rates of first-trimester miscarriage, severe fetal growth restriction and late intrauterine fetal death. Intervillous histiocytes can also accumulate due to infection, including SARS-CoV-2, although this infection-induced intervillositis does not appear to recur. As with VUE, the diagnosis of CHI requires exclusion of an infectious cause. Women with recurrent CHI and their families are predisposed to autoimmune diseases, suggesting CHI may have an alloimmune pathology. This observation has driven attempts to prevent CHI with a wide range of maternal immunosuppression. Massive perivillous fibrin deposition is diagnosed when >25% of the intervillous space is occupied by fibrin, and is associated with fetal growth restriction and late intrauterine fetal death. Although not an inflammatory disorder per se, MPFD is frequently seen in association with both VUE and CHI. This review summarises current understanding of the prevalence, diagnostic features, clinical consequences, immune pathology and potential prophylaxis against recurrence in these three chronic inflammatory placental syndromes.

Abstract
We encountered a 30-year-old woman who developed dermatomyositis during pregnancy and was positive for anti-Mi-2 antibodies. She was successfully treated with prednisolone and tacrolimus and delivered a healthy child. We reviewed the cases of idiopathic inflammatory myositis (IIM) that developed during pregnancy that were published after the year 2000 to elucidate the profile of myositis-specific antibodies (MSAs) in them and to evaluate their obstetric outcomes. In cases with IIM that developed during pregnancy, anti-Mi-2, anti-TIF1-g, anti-Jo-1, and anti-EJ antibodies was detected in one case each. The obstetric outcomes of the IIM-complicated pregnancies were poor, especially when complicated with active maternal myositis. Further studies focusing on the possible causal relationships between MSAs and cases with IIM that developed during pregnancy are needed. For better obstetric outcomes, appropriate suppression of the maternal disease activity using immunosuppressants and vigilance regarding the patient's requirement of Caesarean section is important.

Abstract
Background Massive perivillous fibrin deposition (MPFD) is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes and is mainly caused by maternal factors with limited involvement of fetal or genetic causes. We present one consanguineous couple with six fetuses developing Fetal Akinesia Deformation Sequence (FADS) and MPFD, with a possible underlying genetic cause. This prompted a literature review on prevalence of FADS and MPFD. Methods Fetal ultrasound examination, motor assessment, genetic testing, postmortem examination, and placenta histology are presented (2009–2019). Literature was reviewed for the association between congenital anomalies and MPFD. Results All six fetuses developed normally during the first trimester. Thereafter, growth restriction, persistent flexed position, abnormal motility, and contractures in 4/6, consistent with FADS occurred. All placentas showed histologically confirmed MPFD. Genetic analyses in the five available cases showed homozygosity for two variants of unknown significance in two genes, VARS1 (OMIM*192150) and ABCF1 (OMIM*603429). Both parents are heterozygous for these variants. From 63/1999 manuscripts, 403 fetal outcomes were mobilized. In 14/403 fetuses, congenital abnormalities in association with MPFD were seen of which two fetuses with contractures/FADS facial anomalies. Conclusion The low prevalence of fetal contractures/FADS facial anomalies in association with MPFD in the literature review supports the possible fetal or genetic contribution causing FADS and MPFD in our family. This study with literature review supports the finding that fetal, fetoplacental, and/or genetic components may play a role in causing a part of MPFDs.

Abstract
Antisynthetase syndrome (anti-SS) is a rare systemic autoimmune disease characterised by autoantibodies against aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases manifesting as one or more components of the classic triad: interstitial lung disease, arthritis and myositis. While it is well-recognised that autoimmune rheumatological disorders in general can contribute to multiple pregnancy complications, very little is known about how anti-SS itself affects pregnancy outcomes. Described here is the case of a 26-year-old pregnant woman with anti-SS whose pregnancy course was complicated by placental dysfunction and subsequent extremely premature delivery at 24 weeks' gestation. This report presents a review of the literature to date and discusses potential pregnancy complications associated with anti-SS and their subsequent targeted management.

Abstract
Although pregnancy is an important risk factor for autoimmune rheumatic diseases, little is known regarding the association between pregnancy and dermatomyositis (DM) or polymyositis (PM). Herein, we present two patients with DM that developed during the perinatal period. The first patient was positive for anti-aminoacyl synthetase (ARS) antibody and developed DM in the 14th week of pregnancy. Despite treatment, her foetus died of intrauterine growth restriction in the 27th week. The second patient was positive for anti-melanoma differentiation-associated gene 5 (MDA-5) antibody and developed DM 1 week after miscarriage at 9 weeks of gestation. The patient developed severe interstitial pneumonia, and intensive therapy including tofacitinib and rituximab administration was required. Our cases and a literature review revealed that various myositis-specific autoantibodies, including anti-ARS, anti-Mi-2, anti-TIF-1γ, and anti-MDA-5, are associated with DM and PM triggered by pregnancy. We also found that delay in commencing treatment in case of active disease including myositis and interstitial pneumonia, and poor response to corticosteroids were related to poor foetal outcomes in DM and PM. Although rare in pregnant women, it is critical to consider the possibility of DM and PM in patients presenting with rash, fever, weakness, and cough, and testing for myositis-specific autoantibodies is recommended.

Abstract
Objectives To examine pregnancy outcomes among births to women with idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) in relation to time of IIM diagnosis using population-based data. Methods This study used Swedish nationwide registers to identify all singleton births that occurred between 1973 and 2016 among women diagnosed with IIM between 1998 and 2016 and among women unexposed to IIM. We classified births according to the IIM status of the mother at time of delivery: post-IIM (n = 68), 1–3 years pre-IIM (n = 23), >3 years pre-IIM (n = 710) and unexposed to IIM (n = 4101). Multivariate regression models were used to estimate relative risks of adverse pregnancy outcomes in post-IIM births and pre-IIM births separately, in comparison with their non-IIM comparators. Results We found that post-IIM births had increased risks of caesarean section [adjusted relative risk (aRR) = 1.98; 95% CI: 1.08, 3.64], preterm birth (aRR = 3.35; 95% CI: 1.28, 8.73) and low birth weight (aRR = 5.69; 95% CI: 1.84, 17.55) compared with non-IIM comparators. We also noticed higher frequencies of caesarean section and instrumental delivery in 1–3 years pre-IIM births than in the non-IIM comparators. Conclusion Women who gave birth after IIM diagnosis had higher risks of caesarean section, preterm birth and low birth weight. These results further underline the importance of special care and close monitoring of women with IIM. Higher frequencies of caesarean section and instrumental delivery in pre-IIM births highlight the need for future research on the influence of subclinical features of IIM on pregnancy outcomes.

Abstract
Objective The aims of this study were to ascertain the frequency of disorders of villous maturation in fetal death and to also delineate other placental histopathologic lesions in fetal death. Methods This was a retrospective observational cohort study of fetal deaths occurring among women between January 2004 and January 2016 at Hutzel Women's Hospital, Detroit, MI, USA. Cases comprised fetuses with death beyond 20 weeks' gestation. Fetal deaths with congenital anomalies and multiple gestations were excluded. Controls included pregnant women without medical/obstetrical complications and delivered singleton, term (37-42 weeks) neonate with 5-min Apgar score ≥7 and birthweight between the 10th and 90th percentiles. Results Ninety-two percent (132/143) of placentas with fetal death showed placental histologic lesions. Fetal deaths were associated with (1) higher frequency of disorders of villous maturation [44.0% (64/143) vs. 1.0% (4/405), P < 0.0001, prevalence ratio, 44.6; delayed villous maturation, 22% (31/143); accelerated villous maturation, 20% (28/143); and maturation arrest, 4% (5/143)]; (2) higher frequency of maternal vascular malperfusion lesions [75.5% (108/143) vs. 35.7% (337/944), P < 0.0001, prevalence ratio, 2.1] and fetal vascular malperfusion lesions [88.1% (126/143) vs. 19.7% (186/944), P < 0.0001, prevalence ratio, 4.5]; (3) higher frequency of placental histologic patterns suggestive of hypoxia [59.0% (85/143) vs. 9.3% (82/942), P < 0.0001, prevalence ratio, 6.8]; and (4) higher frequency of chronic inflammatory lesions [53.1% (76/143) vs. 29.9% (282/944), P < 0.001, prevalence ratio 1.8]. Conclusion This study demonstrates that placentas of women with fetal death were 44 times more likely to present disorders of villous maturation compared to placentas of those with normal pregnancy. This suggests that the burden of placental disorders of villous maturation lesions is substantial.

Abstract
Polymyositis (PM) is an uncommon inflammatory myopathy that affects striated muscles. It causes weakness of the limb girdles, neck, and pharyngeal muscles. We are presenting a case of PM which manifested after intrauterine death (IUD). The patient was referred to our hospital for breathing difficulty, 4 days after delivery of a dead fetus. Initially, she was treated in line of puerperal sepsis and peripartum cardiomyopathy. Patient's cardiopulmonary functions improved but she had persistent high-grade fever. Gross muscle weakness was found on day 5 of admission, involving all four limbs, predominantly in proximal muscles and she had dark colored urine. Laboratory tests revealed myoglobinuria, high serum creatine phosphokinase (CPK) levels, and high lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels. Polymyositis diagnosed on the basis of high CPK levels, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of cervical spine, electromyography (EMG), and muscle biopsy findings. We question, whether the PM could be pathogenically related to the pregnancy? Literature review of the previously reported cases of PM/dermatomyositis and our case report suggests that pregnancy can trigger the new onset of PM.

Abstract
Here, we review three important placental pathologies with significant clinical implications and recurrence risks. They are, in order of most to least frequently seen, villitis of unknown etiology, chronic histiocytic intervillositis, and massive perivillous fibrin deposition (also known as maternal floor infarction). These entities occur in both preterm and term gestations and are observed more frequently with maternal and obstetric disorders including prior pregnancy loss, hypertension/preeclampsia, and autoimmune disease. They are associated with, and probably the cause of, significant perinatal morbidity and mortality including intrauterine growth restriction, fetal and neonatal demise, and fetal/neonatal neurocompromise (seizures and cerebral palsy). All three entities have high recurrence risks, with recurrence rates ranging from 34 to 100%. The histologic features of villitis of unknown etiology, chronic histiocytic intervillositis, and massive perivillous fibrin deposition are described herein. We discuss the clinical associations and suggest the subsequent clinical and pathological evaluation. Hypotheses as to the biology of these lesions are reviewed.

Abstract
Maternal floor infarction (MFI) and massive perivillous fibrin deposition (MPVFD) are pathologically overlapping placental disorders with characteristic gross and shared light microscopic features of excessive perivillous deposition of fibrinoid material. Although rare, they are associated with high rates of fetal growth restriction, perinatal morbidity and mortality, and risks of recurrence with fetal death. The cause of the extensive fibrinoid deposition is unknown, but evidence supports involvement of maternal alloimmune or autoimmune mechanisms. This article presents an updated discussion of features, placental histopathologic differential diagnosis, possible causes, clinical correlates, and adverse outcomes of the MFI/MPVFD spectrum.

Abstract
Massive perivillous fibrin deposition of the placenta (MPFD) or maternal floor infarction (MFI) is a serious condition associated with recurrent complications including fetal death and severe fetal growth restriction. There is no method to evaluate the risk of adverse outcome in subsequent pregnancies, or effective prevention. Recent observations suggest that MFI is characterized by an imbalance in angiogenic/anti-angiogenic factors in early pregnancy; therefore, determination of these biomarkers may identify the patient at risk for recurrence. We report the case of a pregnant woman with a history of four consecutive pregnancy losses, the last of which was affected by MFI. Abnormalities of the anti-angiogenic factor, sVEGFR-1, and soluble endoglin (sEng) were detected early in the index pregnancy, and treatment with pravastatin corrected the abnormalities. Treatment resulted in a live birth infant at 34 weeks of gestation who had normal biometric parameters and developmental milestones at the age of 2. This is the first reported successful use of pravastatin to reverse an angiogenic/anti-angiogenic imbalance and prevent fetal death.

Abstract
Formal examination of the placenta may provide valuable information to the clinicians, family, and court of law in cases of adverse pregnancy outcome when litigation is initiated. Placental examination contributes towards the identification of specific intrinsic or secondary placental lesions, and understanding the nature of the intrauterine environment. This article provides an update of important placental pathologies that may contribute towards neurologic injury of the newborn child, and describes the role of placental findings in the adjudication of cases of adverse neonatal outcome.

Abstract
Massive perivillous fibrin deposition (MPVFD) of the placenta and renal tubular dysgenesis (RTD) are relatively rare diseases with potential recurrent risks that have not previously associated in the literature. Herein, we report the clinical course, autopsy findings, and placental pathologic features from 3 consecutive pregnancies delivered in 1 woman, all showing recurrent MPVFD in the placenta and RTD in the bilateral fetal kidneys.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Massive perivillous fibrin deposition (MPFD) and maternal floor infarction (MFI) are related placental lesions often associated with fetal death and fetal growth restriction. A tendency to recur in subsequent pregnancies has been reported. This study was conducted to determine whether this complication of pregnancy could reflect maternal antifetal rejection. METHODS Pregnancies with MPFD were identified (n = 10). Controls consisted of women with uncomplicated pregnancies who delivered at term without MPFD (n = 175). Second-trimester maternal plasma was analyzed for panel-reactive anti-HLA class I and class II antibodies. The prevalence of chronic chorioamnionitis, villitis of unknown etiology, and plasma cell deciduitis was compared between cases and controls. Immunohistochemistry was performed on available umbilical vein segments from cases with MPFD (n = 4) to determine whether there was evidence of complement activation (C4d deposition). Specific maternal HLA-antibody and fetal HLA-antigen status were also determined in paired specimens (n = 6). Plasma CXCL-10 concentrations were measured in longitudinal samples of cases (n = 28 specimens) and controls (n = 749 specimens) by ELISA. Linear mixed-effects models were used to test for differences in plasma CXCL-10 concentration. RESULTS (i) The prevalence of plasma cell deciduitis in the placenta was significantly higher in cases with MPFD than in those with uncomplicated term deliveries (40% versus 8.6%, P = 0.01), (ii) patients with MPFD had a significantly higher frequency of maternal anti-HLA class I positivity during the second trimester than those with uncomplicated term deliveries (80% versus 36%, P = 0.01); (iii) strongly positive C4d deposition was observed on umbilical vein endothelium in cases of MPFD, (iv) a specific maternal antibody against fetal HLA antigen class I or II was identified in all cases of MPFD; and 5) the mean maternal plasma concentration of CXCL-10 was higher in patients with evidence of MPFD than in those without evidence of MFPD (P < 0.001). CONCLUSION A subset of patients with MPFD has evidence of maternal antifetal rejection.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Massive perivillous fibrin deposition (MPFD) is associated with serious complications of pregnancy including recurrent spontaneous abortion, fetal growth restriction, and fetal demise. The aim of this study was to determine whether maternal plasma concentrations of angiogenic/antiangiogenic factors in MPFD differ from those of uncomplicated pregnancies. STUDY DESIGN This retrospective longitudinal case-control study included MPFD cases (n = 10) and control patients (n = 175) with uncomplicated pregnancies who were enrolled in a longitudinal study and delivered at term. Serial plasma concentrations of placental growth factor (PlGF), soluble endoglin (sEng), and soluble vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (sVEGFR)-1 and -2 were determined by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (cases, n = 28 samples; controls, n = 723 samples). Individual analyte concentrations were averaged across gestational age at specimen collection intervals. Linear mixed models were used to test for differences in log-transformed mean analyte concentrations both overall and as a function of time. RESULTS The following results were found: (1) patients with MPFD had a lower mean plasma PlGF concentration (P = .03) and higher mean plasma concentrations of sVEGFR-1 and sEng (both P < .01) than controls, adjusted for potential confounders; (2) the mean plasma concentration of PlGF differed further among cases and controls as a function of gestational age interval (P < .0001); however, mean sVEGFR-1 and sEng group differences as a function of gestational age interval approached but did not reach significance (P = .09 and P = .11, respectively); (3) patients with MPFD had lower mean plasma concentrations of PlGF/sVEGFR-1 (P < .0001) and PlGF/sEng (P < .001): both of these relationships differed further as a function of gestational age interval (both P < .0001); and (4) differences in mean sVEGFR-1, sEng, and the ratios of PlGF to sVEGFR-1 and PlGF to sEng were observed before 20 weeks of gestation. CONCLUSION An imbalance of angiogenic/antiangiogenic factors is present in patients with MPFD prior to the diagnosis. We propose that these changes participate in the mechanisms responsible for adverse pregnancy outcomes in patients with MPFD.

Abstract
Maternal floor infarction/massive perivillous fibrin deposition (MFI/MPVFD) of the placenta has an unclear etiology. The placenta of an 8-month-old child diagnosed with long-chain 3-hydroxyacyl coenzyme A dehydrogenase (LCHAD) deficiency reportedly showed MFI, but no further evidence of a direct association between MFI/MPVFD and LCHAD deficiency has been documented. Three cases of MFI/MPVFD were studied. Paraffin blocks of placental tissue were retrieved, tissue scrolls were harvested, and DNA was extracted. The alpha-subunit of the mitochondrial trifunctional protein containing the LCHAD coding region (HADHA) was subsequently amplified using specific primer sets and directly sequenced by the dideoxy chain termination method. All 3 placentas demonstrated heterozygous mutations in the HADHA gene. A sample from a 25-4/7 week gestation growth-restricted female infant revealed a heterozygous mutation in exon 11, 1072C>A (glutamine to lysine, Qln358Lys) with a heterozygous sequence difference in the intron following exon 6 (insertion of a T at position +9, +9insT). The 2nd sample from a 32-4/7 week gestation stillborn fetus revealed a heterozygous mutation (+3A>G after exon 3) and a clear homozygous sequence difference in exon 17. The 3rd sample from a 31 weeks gestation infant revealed heterozygosity for the+3A>G mutation after exon 3. All 3 placentas with MFI/MPVFD demonstrated heterozygous mutations in the HADHA gene, and 2 of the 3 placentas had 2 DNA changes. Given a background incidence of heterozygosity for LCHAD mutations of approximately 1 in 220, these findings lend support to the hypothesis that LCHAD mutations may be directly associated with and potentially causative of MFI/MPVFD.

Abstract
AIMS Pregnancy-related and idiopathic adult polymyositis are inflammatory myopathies of unknown aetiology in which CD8 positive T cells are found in close association with the up-regulation of human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class I on affected muscle cells. A similar polymyositis can also occur in patients with chronic graft versus host disease, wherein graft lymphocytes may be involved in the myositis. We investigated whether polymyositis that was temporally related to pregnancy, contained Y chromosome-bearing cells or signals using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) in biopsies of lesional muscle from two women who had given birth to sons. Furthermore, if Y chromosome material was present, we investigated whether it was contained in the intact inflammatory cells (CD8 positive lymphocytes for example), fetal macrophages, or differentiated fetal stem cells engrafted in the lesional skeletal muscle, and thus whether fetal cells played a role in the pathogenesis of the myositis. METHODS PCR analysis was used for the Y chromosome in lesional tissue and fluorescence in situ hybridisation (FISH) for intact cells carrying the Y chromosome. RESULTS Small amounts of Y chromosome material were detected on second round PCR in fresh frozen tissue. No Y chromosome-bearing intact cells of lymphocytic, macrophage or muscle lineage were detected. CONCLUSION Our results suggest that microchimeric fetal cells are not found in the lesional tissue of pregnancy-related polymyositis.

Abstract
We present a case of recurrent massive perivillous fibrin deposition (MPVFD) in a patient with polymyositis (PM). Massive perivillous fibrin deposition occurred in 2 consecutive pregnancies: the 1st ended in an intrauterine death at 34 weeks of gestation, while the 2nd pregnancy resulted in a live-born baby at 32 weeks of gestation. The association between MPVFD and PM has been rarely reported in the literature in the form of case reports of single pregnancies.
