Tailoring Coordination Polymers by Substituent Effect: A Bifunctional Co II ‐Doped 1D‐Coordination Network with Electrochemical Water Oxidation and Nitroaromatics Sensing

Mixed N,O-donor Directed Blue Emissive Nano-dispersed Mesoporous Mn(II)-MOF: Dual Sensing Probe for Recyclable and Ultrasensitive ppb-Level Recognition of TNP and Cr(VI)-Oxoanions

A new mesoporous Mn(II)-MOF [Mn2(phen)2(nia)2]∞ with 4-c uninodal net topology and reiterating rectangular channels in its cargo-net like extension was synthesized using π-conjugated phenanthroline (phen) and syn-syn bridging 5-nitroisopthalic acid (nia) linkers. The MOF (1) exhibited phase purity, uniform morphology, photo and thermal stability, and robustness; duly triggered by the exceptional framework rigidity via intermolecular H-bonding and interlayer π-π stacking interactions. The bright-blue luminescence of the MOF nano-dispersion was explored for sensitive, specific and ultrafast detection of trinitrophenol (TNP) with extremely low LOD (90.62 nM), high KSV (18.27×104 M-1) and Kq (4×1014 M-1s-1). The vapor-phase TNP sensing was also accomplished. Additionally, 1 served towards discriminatory, aqueous-phase monitoring of Cr(VI)-oxoanions, depicting LODs: 36.08 and 35.70 ppb; KSV: 3.46×104 and 4.87×104 M-1; Kq: 3.26×1013 M-1s-1 and 4.31×1013 M-1s-1; and response time: 32 and 40s for CrO4 2- and Cr2O7 2- respectively. The quenching mechanisms (i. e., RET, PET, IFE, weak interactions, collisional quenching and π⋅⋅⋅π stacking) was explained from several experimental investigations and theoretical DFT calculations. The recyclable sensing events and quantification from complex environmental matrices with admirable recovery rates and high KSV (13.02-22.44×104; ~6.31-10.98×104 and ~6.60-11.42×104 M-1 for TNP, CrO4 2- and Cr2O7 2-) undoubtedly advocated the consistency of the probe.

Comparative Study of Nitro and Azide Functionalized Zn(II) based Coordination Polymers as Fluorescent Turn-on Probes for Rapid and Selective Detection of H2S in Living Cells

Selective Detection of H 2 S in cellular system using fluorescent CPs/MOFs is of great scientific interest due to their outstanding aqueous stability, biocompatibility and real-time detection ability.  Fabrication of such materials using complete biologically essential elements and applying them as an efficient biosensors is still quite challenging.  In this context, we present two newly synthesized CPs containing biologically essential metal ion (Zn) and nitro/azido functional group on the framework to sense extracellular and intracellular H 2 S by reducing into respective amines.  The CP- 1 containing the azide group acted as an efficient fluorencent turn-on probe with lowest detection limit (7.2 µM) and shortest response time (30 sec) among the Zn-based probes reported till date.  Moreover, CP-1 exhibited green luminescence in live cells after imaging very low concentration of H 2 S, while the nitro analogue, CP-2, couldn't detect the target analyte due to it's framework disruption.

Charge Separated One-Dimensional Hybrid Cobalt/Nickel Phosphonate Frameworks: A Facile Approach to Design Bifunctional Electrocatalyst for Oxygen Evolution and Hydrogen Evolution Reactions

Two new organoamine templated one-dimensional transition metal phosphonate compounds are synthesized, and their bifunctional electrocatalytic activities are examined in highly alkaline and acidic media. Compared with state-of-the-art materials, the cobalt phosphonate system is a new fabrication of sustainable and highly efficient catalysts toward electrochemical water splitting systems.

Metal-organic frameworks as proton conductors: strategies for improved proton conductivity

Recent studies on proton conductivity using pristine MOFs and their composite materials have established an outstanding area of research owing to their potential applications for the development of high performance solid state proton conductors (SSPCs) and proton exchange membranes (PEMs) in fuel cells (FCs). MOFs, as crystalline organic and inorganic hybrid materials, provide a large number of degrees of freedom in their framework composition, coordination environment, and chemically functionalized pores for the targeted design of improved proton carriers, functioning over a wide range of temperature and humidity conditions. Herein, our efforts have been emphasized on fundamental principles and different design strategies to achieve enhanced proton conductivity with appropriate examples. We also have discussed the modification mechanism of MOF-composite materials and mixed matrix membranes for commercial applications in FCs. Thus, this review aims to direct readers' attention towards the design strategies and structure-property relationship for proton transport in MOFs.

Recent development of amorphous metal coordination polymers for cancer therapy

Nanoscale metal coordination polymers (NCPs), built from metal ions and organic ligands, have attracted tremendous interest in biomedical applications. This is mainly due to their mesoporous structure, tunable size and morphology and versatile functionality. NCPs can be further divided into nanoscale metal-organic frameworks (NMOFs) and amorphous coordination polymer particles (ACPPs) depending on their structural crystallinity. NMOFs as nanocarriers have been extensively reviewed. However, the highlights of ACPPs as theranostic nanoplatforms are still limited. In this review, the recent progress of ACPPs as theranostic nanoplatforms is summarized based on what types of organic linkers used. The ACPPs are divided into three main parts: photosensitizers-based ACPPs, chemical drugs-based ACPPs, and biomolecules-based ACPPs. Finally, the prospects and challenges of the ACPPs for enhanced biomedical applications are also discussed. STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE: Over the last decades, amorphous metal coordination polymers (ACPPs), constructed by metal ions and organic linkers, have attracted enormous interest in cancer treatment owing to their high drug loading capability, facile synthetic procedures, low long-term toxicity, and mild preparation conditions. In this review, we highlight the recent progress of ACPPs for biomedical application based on different types of organic building blocks including photosensitizers, chemical drugs, and biomolecules. Moreover, the prospects and challenges of ACPPs for clinical application are also discussed. We hope this review entitled "Recent development of amorphous metal coordination polymers for cancer therapy" would arise the researchers' interest in this field to accelerate their clinical application in cancer therapy.
