Abstract
Experimental and theoretical investigations have revealed that the chemical and physical properties of graphene are crucially determined by their topological structures. Therefore, the atomically precise synthesis of graphene nanostructures is essential. A particular example is graphene nanostructures with zigzag-edged structures, which exhibit unique (opto)electronic and magnetic properties owing to their spin-polarized edge state. Recent progress in the development of synthetic methods and strategies as well as characterization methods has given access to this class of unprecedented graphene nanostructures, which used to be purely molecular objectives in theoretical chemistry. Thus, clear insight into the structure-property relationships has become possible as well as new applications in organic carbon-based electronic and spintronic devices. In this Minireview, we discuss the recent progress in the controlled synthesis of zigzag-edged graphene nanostructures with different topologies through a bottom-up synthetic strategy.

Abstract
Ultrasonic irradiation is employed to accelerate organic reactions. Under sonication reduced time, good selectivity, excellent yield, and milder conditions were observed for many organic reactions. Ultrasonic reactions are increasingly used as green, clean, and environment-friendly methods in organic synthesis in terms of energy conservation and waste minimization. The use of ultrasound irradiation is increasing in coming years. The use of ultrasound irradiation in the synthesis of five-membered N-heterocycles is depicted in the present review article.

Abstract
We provide a comprehensive account of the 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions of azomethine ylides with carbonyl dipolarophiles. Many different azomethine ylides have been studied, including stabilized and non-stabilized ylides. Of the carbonyl dipolarophiles, aldehydes including formaldehyde are the most studied, although there are now examples of cycloadditions with ketones, ketenes and carboxyl systems, in particular isatoic anhydrides and phthalic anhydrides. Intramolecular cycloadditions with esters can also occur under certain circumstances. The oxazolidine cycloadducts undergo a range of reactions triggered by the ring-opening of the oxazolidine ring system.

Abstract
Based on polycyclic aromatic azomethine ylides, a metal-free “cycloaddition-planarization-sequence” is proposed, providing a unique entry to nitrogen-containing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
Based on polycyclic aromatic azomethine ylides (PAMYs), a metal-free “cycloaddition-planarization-sequence” is proposed, providing a unique entry to extended nitrogen-containing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (N-PAHs). This method is highly versatile, as the structure of unprecedented N-PAHs can be tailored by the dipolarophile in the crucial 1,3-cycloaddition-reaction. Linear, as well as five- and six-membered cyclic dipolarophiles are successfully used. The geometric and optoelectronic nature of N-PAHs are investigated by UV-vis absorption and single crystal structure analysis. Remarkably, the newly synthesized N-PAHs demonstrate varying absorption profiles, covering the whole visible light range with rich photophysical properties, for example, fluorescent quantum yields up to 54%.

Abstract
The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of a non-stabilized azomethine ylide 4a, formed in situ from N-(methoxymethyl)-N-(trimethylsilylmethyl)benzylamine 5 and a catalytic amount of trifluoroacetic acid, with aromatic aldehydes 3 gives rise to N-benzyl-5-aryloxazolidines 1. Under these conditions, 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde 3p undergoes two-fold addition of azomethine ylide 4a to afford bis adduct 11.
