Abstract
The reaction of a silyl dienolate, a Cu(II) salt and TBAT yielding the corresponding copper dienolate is addressed. A combined NMR and cyclic voltammetry analysis first highlight the role of TBAT in the Cu(II) to Cu(I) reduction and the structure of the precatalytic species. From these first results a second set of NMR and theoretical studies enable the determination of the structure and the mechanism of formation of the copper dienolate catalytic species. Finally, we showed that that the copper catalyst promote the E/Z s-cis/s-trans equilibration of the silyl dienolate precursor through a copper dienolate intermediate. All of these results unveil some peculiarities of the catalytic and asymmetric vinylogous Mukaiyama reaction.

Abstract
Two catalytic asymmetric vinylogous aldol-type reactions of aldehydes with allyl phosphonate and allyl sulfone have been uncovered in good to high yields for the first time. The bulky ligand-(R)-DTBM-SEGPHOS-was found to be the key to perfectly control both regio- and enantioselectivities. Transformations of the vinylogous products (including Horner-Wadsworth-Emmons and Julia olefinations) were successfully realized by virtue of the phosphonate and sulfone moieties. Moreover, the present methodology was successfully applied in the asymmetric synthesis of natural products.

Abstract
A green protocol has been developed for the synthesis of β-hydroxyl-α-vinyl carboxylic esters using aldehydes and α,β-unsaturated esters bearing an activated γ proton as starting materials under Morita-Baylis-Hillman (MBH) reaction conditions. Diverse β-hydroxyl-α-vinyl carboxylic esters have been synthesized regiospecifically in moderate to good yields with only E geometric selectivity. Other remarkable features include atom efficiency, environmental benignancy, and mild reaction conditions. Furthermore, the reaction products could be readily converted into tetrahydrofuran, dihydrofuran, and furan derivatives.

In a conceptually different approach, highly stereoselective 2-oxonia-Cope rearrangement reactions between rationally designed nonracemic vinylogous aldolation synthons and aldehydes are described to provide δ-hydroxy-α,β-unsaturated esters with excellent enantioselectivities and, for the first time, unprecedented Z- and E-selectivities without the regioselectivity issue.

Abstract
An enantio- and diastereoselective synthesis of syn-β-hydroxy-α-vinyl carboxylate esters 3 via the reductive aldol reaction of ethyl allenecarboxylate (2) with 10-trimethylsilyl-9-borabicyclo[3.3.2]decane (1R) has been developed. Density functional theory calculations suggest that the allene hydroboration involves the 1,4-reduction of 2 with the 1R, leading directly to dienolborinate Z-(O)-8a.
