Abstract
Solvent-switchable and site-selective phosphorylation of imidazoles at the C2 or C5 position of the imidazole ring was achieved via 1,4-palladium migration. P-Chiral tert-butyl(aryl)phosphine oxides were cross-coupled to 1-(2-bromophenyl)-1H-imidazoles with high enantiospecificity, thereby leading to a novel class of chiral imidazole-based phosphine oxides. As proof of concept, reduction of an analogue yielded the corresponding P-chiral 2-phosphinyl imidazole ligand, which was shown to induce high enantioselectivity in the formation of axially chiral molecules synthesized via Pd-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling.

Abstract
The first general and regioselective Pd-catalyzed cyclocarbonylation to give α-methylene-β-lactones is reported. Key to the success for this process is the use of a specific sterically demanding phosphine ligand based on N-arylated imidazole (L11) in the presence of Pd(MeCN)2 Cl2 as pre-catalyst. A variety of easily available alkynols provide under additive-free conditions the corresponding α-methylene-β-lactones in moderate to good yields with excellent regio- and diastereoselectivity. The applicability of this novel methodology is showcased by the direct carbonylation of biologically active molecules including natural products.

Simultaneous introduction
of two different palladium (pre)catalysts,
one tuned to promote oxidative addition to (hetero)aryl bromide and
another to activate terminal alkyne substrate, leads to productive
Pd–Pd transmetalation, subsequent reductive elimination, and
formation of disubstituted alkyne. This conceptually novel rational
design of copper-free Sonogashira reaction enabled facile identification
of the reaction conditions, suitable for the synthesis of alkyl, aryl,
and heteroaryl substituted alkynes at room temperature with as low
as 0.125 mol % total Pd loading.

Abstract
This work documents the first palladium pincer complex-catalyzed carbonylative Sonogashira (CS) and carbonylative Suzuki-Miyaura (CSM) cross-coupling. Compared to previous protocols, which employ hazardous and toxic solvents, the aminophosphine pincer complex {[C6H3-2,6-(NHP{piperidinyl}2)2]Pd(Cl)} (III) catalyzes both the cross-coupling reactions in propylene carbonate, an eco-friendly and sustainable polar aprotic solvent. Advantageously, employing III allows the CS cross-coupling to be carried out at a palladium loading of 10-4 mol % and the CSM cross-coupling to be carried out at 10-6 mol %, thus resulting in catalytic turnovers of 105 and 107, respectively. Relative comparison of the pincer complex with conventional palladium precursors Pd(OAc)2 and PdCl2(PPh3)2 shows the efficiency and robustness of the pincer complex in effecting higher catalytic activity at low palladium loadings.

Abstract
The human serotonin transporter is the primary target of several antidepressant drugs, and the importance of a primary, high affinity binding site (S1) for antidepressant binding is well documented. The existence of a lower affinity, secondary binding site (S2) has, however, been debated. Herein we report the synthesis of 3-position coupled imipramine ligands from clomipramine using a copper free Sonogashira reaction. Ligand design was inspired by results from docking and steered molecular dynamics simulations, and the ligands were utilized in a structure-activity relationship study of the positional relationship between the S1 and S2 sites. The computer simulations suggested that the S2 site does indeed exist although with lower affinity for imipramine than observed within the S1 site. Additionally, it was possible to dock the 3-linked imipramine analogs into positions which occupy the S1 and the S2 site simultaneously. The structure activity relationship study showed that the shortest ligands were the most potent, and mutations enlarging the proposed S2 site were found to affect the larger ligands positively, while the smaller ligands were mostly unaffected.

Abstract
Herein, we report the Pd-catalyzed regioselective direct arylation of heteroarenes in which benzenesulfonyl chlorides are used as coupling partners through a desulfitative cross-coupling that can be performed in diethyl carbonate (DEC) or cyclopentyl methyl ether (CPME) as green and renewable solvents or even in neat conditions instead of dioxane or dimethylacetamide (DMA). Under these solvent conditions, the reaction proceeds with a wide range of heteroarenes. C2- or C5-arylated products were obtained with furan and pyrrole derivatives. Benzofuran was also arylated regioselectively at the C2-position, whereas the reaction proceeds selectively at the C3- or C4-positions if thiophenes and benzothiophenes are used. Moreover, in some cases, especially with 1-methylindole, solvent-free conditions afforded better regioselectivities and/or yields than the reaction performed in the presence of solvents.

A simple and mild catalytic coupling reaction of propargyl halides with organotitanium reagents is reported.

Abstract
The addition of primary amines to the C=C bond of diphenylalkenyl iminophosphoranes yielded a new subtype of N,N-bidentate ligands bearing N=P(V)-C-C-NH backbones. These donor ligands reacted with PdCl(2)(COD) to give the corresponding σN,σN-palladium complexes containing secondary amino groups, bearing an intrinsically chiral nitrogen atom, and iminophosphorane units. These new complexes have been fully characterized by the use of spectroscopic techniques and X-ray crystallography. The comparison of the data extracted from their solution NMR spectra with their solid state structures demonstrated the conformational stability of their six-membered chelate ring and also the configurational stability of the chiral nitrogen atom, thus ruling out an arm-off racemization process. The addition of the chiral, racemic α-methylbenzylamine to the prochiral P-alkenyl iminophosphoranes yielded mixtures of the two expected diasteroisomeric ligands in low diastereoisomeric ratios. One of these mixtures was resolved into their components, each one in turn giving rise to a pair of diasteromeric palladium complexes epimeric at the amino nitrogen atom. One selected example of the new complexes efficiently catalyzes the copper- and amine-free Sonogashira reaction of aryl halides with acetylenes.
