Abstract
Bis-azolium salts with one azolium capping a perbenzylated α-cyclodextrin have been designed to generate Janus-type bimetallic complexes with various combinations of copper, silver, gold or palladium salts. Encapsulation of one metal center inside the cavity allowed (trans)metalation and oxidation reactions to be controlled at selected positions. In particular, it was possible to oxidize AuI into AuIII selectively on the position outside the cavity of the cyclodextrin on the bis-AuI Janus complex.

Abstract
Janus di-N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands are a subclass of poly-NHCs that feature coordination to two transition metals in a facially opposed manner. The combination of the structural features of Janus type ligands, with the properties conferred by the NHC ligands, has conferred Janus-di-NHCs with privileged attributes for their use in diverse areas of research, such as homogeneous catalysis, materials chemistry and supramolecular chemistry. In molecular chemistry, Janus di-NHCs constitute one of the most useful chemical platforms for constructing dimetallic structures, and this includes both homo- and hetero-dimetallic compounds. This review aims to cover the most relevant advances in the use of Janus-di-NHCs during the last 15 years, by classifying them according to their specific structural features.

Abstract
Derivatives of the cationic tropylium annulated imidazolylidene ITrop+ are obtained by hydride abstraction from related cycloheptatriene compounds. Spectroscopic, structural and theoretical data indicate that, as a cationic relative of benzimidazolylidenes, ITrop+ has highly reduced σ-donor and strong π-acceptor character.

Abstract
Pyridyl-substituted mesoionic triazolylidene ruthenium cymene complexes catalyze the oxidation of both aromatic and aliphatic amines to nitriles with high activity and selectivity under benign conditions using dioxygen as the terminal oxidant. Modification on the pyridyl moiety of the ligand scaffold has negligible effect on the catalytic performance, while substituents on the triazolylidene directly affect the catalytic fitness of the metal center, leading to distinct catalytic profiles. Pre-dissociation of the cymene ligand and formation of a solvento analogue further enhances the catalytic activity towards nitrile formation. Variation of reaction conditions provided valuable mechanistic insights and resulted in a highly efficient protocol for nitrile formation with maximum turnover numbers around 10 000. The turnover frequency reaches up to 400 h-1, providing one of the fastest catalytic systems known to date for this transformation.

Abstract
The oxidative coupling of anionic imidazol-4-ylidenes protected at the C2 position with [MnCp(CO)2 ] or BH3 led to the corresponding 4,4'-bis(2H-imidazol-2-ylidene) complexes or adducts, in which the two carbene moieties are connected through a single C-C bond. Subsequent acidic treatment of the later species led to the corresponding 4,4'-bis(imidazolium) salts in good yields. The overall procedure offers practical access to a novel class of Janus-type bis(NHC)s. Strikingly, the coplanarity of the two NHC rings within the mesityl derivative 4,4'-bis(IMes), favored by steric hindrance along with stabilizing intramolecular C-H⋅⋅⋅π aryl interactions, allows the alignment of the π-systems and, as a direct consequence, significant electron communication through the bis(carbene) scaffold.

Abstract
A bimetallic [Ir3+]2 complex was synthesized based on a bridging 1,2,3-triazole ligand that coordinates to one Cp*Ir unit as N,N-bidentate chelate, and to the other as a C,C-bidentate ligand.
