Abstract
Ongoing research on V-containing polyoxoniobates (PONbs) is driven by their diverse structures and potential applications. Although Lindqvist-type {Nb6O19} is a widely used building block in PONbs, vanadoniobates based on {Nb6O19} and/or its derivatives are still very limited. Herein, a discrete vanadoniobate, LiNa14K11[Li2 ⊂ VIV8Nb32O110]·45H2O (1), has been synthesized by a hydrothermal method, which shows a rhombus-like tetrameric structure composed of two {V2O6(Nb6O19)} and two {Li ⊂ V2O8(Nb5O14)2} subunits derived from {Nb6O19}. Notably, the {Li ⊂ V2O8(Nb5O14)2} subunit has an interesting pseudo-sandwich-type structure, where a {LiV2O8} belt is coordinated by two monolacunary {Nb5O14} molecules and the central site of the cluster is occupied by Li+. Considering that 1 has both basic hexaniobates and redox active V centers, 1 was used as a noble metal-free electrocatalyst for the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde, achieving complete conversion of benzyl alcohol with 94% selectivity for benzaldehyde in 3 h under ambient conditions without using any alkaline additives. Moreover, the catalytic performance of 1 remained largely unchanged after four cycles.

Controllable Assembly of Vanadium-Containing Polyoxoniobate-Based Materials and Their Electrocatalytic Activity for Selective Benzyl Alcohol Oxidation. Molecules 2022; 27:molecules27092862. Abstract
During the controllable synthesis of two vanadium-containing Keggin-type polyoxoniobates (PONbs), [Ni(en)2]5[PNb12O40(VO)5](OH)5·18H2O (1) and [Ni(en)3]5[PNb12O40(VO)2]∙17H2O (2, en = ethylenediamine) are realized by changing the vanadium source and hydrothermal temperature. Compounds 1 and 2 have been thoroughly characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis, FT-IR spectra, X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS), powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), etc. Compound 1 contains a penta-capped Keggin-type polyoxoniobate {PNb12O40(VO)5}, which is connected by adjacent [Ni(en)2]2+ units into a three-dimensional (3D) organic-inorganic framework, representing the first nickel complexes connected vanadoniobate-based 3D material. Compound 2 is a discrete di-capped Keggin-type polyoxoniobate {PNb12O40(VO)2} with [Ni(en)3]2+ units as counter cations. Compounds 1 and 2 have poor solubility in common solvents and can keep stable in the pH range of 4 to 14. Notably, both 1 and 2 as electrode materials are active for the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde. Under ambient conditions without adding an alkaline additive, compound 1 as a noble metal free electrocatalyst can achieve 92% conversion of benzyl alcohol, giving a Faraday efficiency of 93%; comparatively, 2 converted 79% of the substrate with a Faraday efficiency of 84%. The control experiments indicate that both the alkaline polyoxoniobate cluster and the capped vanadium atoms play an important role during the electrocatalytic oxidation process.

Abstract
Abstract
The new compound K2[Ni(dien)2]{[Ni(dien)]2Ta6O19}·11 H2O crystallized at room temperature applying a diffusion based reaction in a H2O/DMSO mixture using K8{Ta6O19}·16 H2O, Ni(NO3)2·6H2O and dien (diethylenetriamine). In the crystal structure, the Lindqvist-type anion [Ta6O19]8– is structurally expanded by two octahedrally Ni2+-centered complexes via three Ni–µ
2-O–Ta bonds thus generating the new {[Ni(dien)]2Ta6O19}4– anion. Two KO8 polyhedra share a common edge to form a K2O14 moiety, which connects the {[Ni(dien)]2Ta6O19}4– cluster shells into chains. The isolated [Ni(dien)2]2+ complexes are located in voids generated by the structural arrangement of the chains. An extended hydrogen bonding network between the different constituents generates a 3D network. The crystal water molecules can be thermally removed to form a highly crystalline dehydrated compound. Partial water uptake leads to the formation of a crystalline intermediate with a reduced unit cell volume compared to the fully hydrated sample. Water sorption experiments demonstrate that the fully dehydrated sample can be fully reconverted to the hydrated compound. The crystal field splitting parameters for the octahedrally coordinated Ni2+-centered complexes have been evaluated from an UV/Vis spectrum yielding D
q = 1056 cm−1 and B = 887 cm−1.

Abstract
Three structurally intriguing polyoxoniobates (PONbs) based on the trivacant B-type α-Keggin ion {TeNb9O33}, H4K(CN3H6)2{[Cu4(2,2'-bipy)4(H2O)2][TeNb9V2O37]}·29H2O (1, 2,2'-bipy = 2,2'-bipyridine), H0.5K5Na2.5{[Cu(en)H2O]3[TeNb9V3O39]}·10H2O (2, en = ethylenediamine), and K3Na5{[Cu(1,3-dap)H2O]3[TeNb9V3O39]}·11H2O (3, 1,3-dap = 1,3-diaminopropane), are assembled by the conventional aqueous solution methods using a series of N-containing organic ligands. In 1, each of the two {VO4} units is attached to two coplanar NbO6 octahedra on the {Nb3O13} cluster of the {TeNb9O33} unit. Differently, three {VO4} units in 2 and 3 are linked to two edge-sharing NbO6 octahedra, respectively. Compounds 1-3 represent the first oxo NbTeV clusters and also the first vanadoniobates based on the trivacant Keggin PONb units. All three compounds were characterised by single-crystal X-ray structural analysis, TGA and IR, ESI-MS and 51V NMR spectroscopy. Furthermore, the magnetic properties of compounds 1 and 2 were also studied.

Abstract
Abstract
Syntheses were performed at room temperature using Ni(NO3)2·6H2O, cyclam (cyclam = 1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane) and the precursors Li8[Nb6O19]· ≈22H2O or Na7[HNb6O19]·15H2O in a DMSO-H2O mixture. Yellow crystals of the new compound {[Ni(cyclam)]2H4Nb6O19}·12H2O could be obtained after one week applying the Li+ or Na+ salt as starting materials. The crystal structure is unique in polyoxoniobate (PONb) chemistry and displays two interpenetrating three-dimensional (3D) networks. The [Nb6O19]8– anion is expanded by four Ni2+ centered complexes via Ni–O bonds to terminal O2− anions of the hexaniobate anion. The 3D networks are generated by further Ni–O bond formation between neighboring [Nb6O19]8− anions. The remaining void space is occupied by H2O molecules which form a water cluster.

Abstract
Two new dodeca-niobate materials, K3[Nb2O2][H7SiNb12O40]·16H2O (1) and [Cu(en)2]9[(VNb12V1.69Nb0.31O42en0.31)2]·20.69H2O (2) (en = ethylenediamine), have been obtained under hydrothermal conditions and characterized by IR, UV-Vis, XRD, and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Single crystal X-ray analysis reveals that compound 1 presents a reasonable bridging layer structure model and that K plays a great role in the three-dimensional structure. Compound 2 is the first capped Keggin POM with organic ligand chelating the capping atom. The photocatalytic hydrogen evolution and styrene epoxidation catalytic properties of the two compounds were also assessed. Additionally, compound 1 is also a good photocatalyst to degrade RhB.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Polyoxometalates (POMs) are negatively charged metal-oxo clusters of early transition metal ions in high oxidation states (e.g., WVI, MoVI, VV). POMs are of interest in the fields of catalysis, electronics, magnetic materials and nanotechnology. Moreover, POMs were shown to exhibit biological activities in vitro and in vivo, such as antitumor, antimicrobial, and antidiabetic. METHODS The literature search for this peer-reviewed article was performed using PubMed and Scopus databases with the help of appropriate keywords. RESULTS This review gives a comprehensive overview of recent studies regarding biological activities of polyoxometalates, and their biomedical applications as promising anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-tumor, and anti-diabetic agents. Additionally, their putative mechanisms of action and molecular targets are particularly considered. CONCLUSION Although a wide range of biological activities of Polyoxometalates (POMs) has been reported, they are to the best of our knowledge not close to a clinical trial or a final application in the treatment of diabetes or infectious and malignant diseases. Accordingly, further studies should be directed towards determining the mechanism of POM biological actions, which would enable fine-tuning at the molecular level, and consequently efficient action towards biological targets and as low toxicity as possible. Furthermore, biomedical studies should be performed on solutionstable POMs employing physiological conditions and concentrations.

Abstract
Three new and different homo- and hetero-bimetallic polyoxometalate (POM) species have been synthesised by simple one-pot synthetic methods utilising naturally occurring bismite (Bi2O3) (or Bi(NO3)3·5H2O) and aryl sulfonic acids. The POM species isolated are (NH4)14[Bi2W22O76]·14H2O (1·14H2O), (NH4)[Bi(DMSO)7][Mo8O26]·H2O (2·H2O) and [(NH4)4(Mo36O108(OH)4·16H2O)]·45H2O (3·45H2O). The compounds have been characterised by X-ray crystallography, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), powdered X-ray diffraction (PXRD), mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), Raman spectroscopy, thermogravimetric (TGA) and ICP analyis. In vitro cytoxicity and proliferation studies conducted on 1 and 3, highlight the low toxicity of these species.

Abstract
A novel modified polyoxometalate, {PMo12O40[Cu(2,2'-bpy)]}[Cu(2,2'-bpy)(en)(H2O)]2 [2,2'-bpy is 2,2'-bipyridyl (C10H8N2) and en is ethylenediamine (C2H8N2)], has been synthesized hydrothermally and structurally characterized by elemental analysis, TG, IR, XPS and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The structural analysis reveals that the compound contains the reduced Keggin polyanion [PMo12O40]6- as the parent unit, which is monocapped by [Cu(2,2'-bpy)]2+ fragments via four bridging O atoms on an {Mo4O4} pit and bi-supported by two [Cu(2,2'-bpy)(en)(H2O)]2+ coordination cations simultaneously. There exist strong intramolecular π-π stacking between the capping and supporting units, which play a stabilizing role during the crystallization of the compound. Adjacent POM clusters are further aggregated to form a three-dimensional supramolecular network through noncovalent forces, hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking interactions. In addition, the photocatalytic properties were investigated in detail, and the results indicated that the compound can be used as a photocatalyst towards the decomposition of the organic pollutant methylene blue (MB).

Abstract
Polyoxometalates (POMs) are an emerging class of inorganic metal oxides, which over the last decades demonstrated promising biological activities by the virtue of their great diversity in structures and properties. They possess high potential for the inhibition of various tumor types; however, their unspecific interactions with biomolecules and toxicity impede their clinical usage. The current focus of the field of biologically active POMs lies on organically functionalized and POM-based nanocomposite structures as these hybrids show enhanced anticancer activity and significantly reduced toxicity towards normal cells in comparison to unmodified POMs. Although the antitumor activity of POMs is well documented, their mechanisms of action are still not well understood. In this Review, an overview is given of the cytotoxic effects of POMs with a special focus on POM-based hybrid and nanocomposite structures. Furthermore, we aim to provide proposed mode of actions and to identify molecular targets. POMs are expected to develop into the next generation of anticancer drugs that selectively target cancer cells while sparing healthy cells.

Abstract
Abstract
The new supramolecular compound [Fe2(AsMo7O27)2](H2en)2(NH4)8·6H2O (1) (en = ethylenediamine) has been synthesized in aqueous solution and characterized by elemental analysis, thermal analysis, and single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structural analysis has revealed that 1 represents the first example of a polyoxometalate-based sandwich-type supramolecular hybrid constructed from hexalacunary building blocks. Owing to the presence of ethylenediammonium cations, the [Fe2(AsMo7O27)2]12– units are stabilized by multiple circular hydrogen bonds extending the structure into a 2D supramolecular framework. The magnetic properties and antitumor activities of 1 have also been studied.
