Abstract
An expedient and efficient synthetic method for the divergent synthesis of 1-trifluoromethylated cyclopenta[b]indoles that relies on Brønsted acid-catalyzed dehydrative Nazarov-type cyclization of CF3-substituted 3-indolylallyl alcohols is described. Two classes of 1-trifluoromethylated cyclopenta[b]indoles can be easily accessed simply by changing the NH-protecting group of indoles. With arylsulfonyl protected 3-indolylallyl alcohols as starting materials, the reaction provided the arylsulfonyl protected 1-trifluoromethylated cyclopenta[b]indoles in good to excellent yields, whereas pivaloyl (Piv) protected substrates led to the formation of NH-free 1-trifluoromethylated cyclolopenta[b]indoles with another alkenyl isomer. This protocol features tunable chemoselectivity, operational simplicity, excellent functional group compatibility, and mild metal-free conditions.

Abstract
Herein, we describe a gold(I)-catalyzed intermolecular formal [2 + 2 + 2] cycloaddition of a carbonyl compound and a propiolate. A series of highly substituted 2H-pyrans are accessed regioselectively from acyclic and cyclic ketones and aldehydes with various substituted propiolates using Ph3PAuCl (0.1-1 mol %) with two distinct metal triflate additives [0.75-7.5 mol %; In(OTf)3/Cu(OTf)2 for ketones, Bi(OTf)3/Hf(OTf)4 for aldehydes]. This method should provide an opportunity for further development of synthetic access to other heterocyclic compounds.

Abstract
Ynamides are N-alkyne compounds bearing an electron withdrawing group at the nitrogen atom. They offer unique pathways for the construction of versatile building blocks owing to their exceptional balance between reactivity and stability. Recently several studies have been reported that explore and illustrate the synthetic potential of ynamides and ynamide-derived advanced intermediates in cycloadditions with different reaction partners to yield heterocyclic cycloadducts of synthetic and pharmaceutical value. Cycloaddition reactions of ynamides are the facile and preferable routes for the construction of structural motifs having striking importance in synthetic, medicinal chemistry, and advanced materials. In this systematic review, we highlighted the recently reported novel transformations and synthetic applications that involved the cycloaddition reaction of ynamides. The scope along with the limitations of the transformations are discussed in detail.

Abstract
A gold-catalysed cycloisomerization of 1,5-diynes is described, which offers a selective approach to access 1,3,4-trisubstituted pyrroles. In this reaction, the cationic gold catalyst activates the ynamide moiety, initiating the cycloisomerization to produce the pyrrole core, and H2O acts as an external nucleophile to trap the vinyl cationic species, thus leading to the formation of 1,3,4-trisubstituted pyrroles with high selectivity.

Abstract
Metal carbenes have proven to be one of the most important and useful intermediates in organic synthesis, but catalytic asymmetric reactions involving metal carbenes are still scarce and remain a challenge. Particularly, the mechanistic pathway and chiral induction model in these asymmetric transformations are far from clear. Described herein is a copper-catalyzed asymmetric cyclization of alkenyl diynes involving a vinylic C(sp2)–H functionalization, which constitutes the first asymmetric vinylic C(sp2)–H functionalization through cyclopentannulation. Significantly, based on extensive mechanistic studies including control experiments and theoretical calculations, a revised mechanism involving a novel type of endocyclic copper carbene via remote-stereocontrol is proposed, thus providing new mechanistic insight into the copper-catalyzed asymmetric diyne cyclization and representing a new chiral control pattern in asymmetric catalysis based on remote-stereocontrol and vinyl cations. This method enables the practical and atom-economical construction of an array of valuable chiral polycyclic-pyrroles in high yields and enantioselectivities. A copper-catalyzed asymmetric cyclization of alkenyl diynes involving a vinylic C(sp2)–H functionalization is reported, enabling the construction of various valuable chiral polycyclic-pyrroles in high yields and enantioselectivities.![]()

Abstract
Ynamides are among the most powerful building blocks in organic synthesis and have become invaluable starting materials for the construction of multifunctional compounds and challenging architectures that would be difficult to prepare otherwise. The rapidly growing popularity originates from the unique reactivity and ease of manipulation of the polarized ynamide triple bond, the advance of practical methods for making them, and the simplicity of storage and handling. These attractive features and the demonstration of numerous synthetic applications have spurred the development of intriguing asymmetric reaction strategies during the last decade. An impressive variety of chemo-, regio- and stereoselective carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom bond forming reactions with ynamides have been developed and now significantly enrich the toolbox of synthetic chemists. This review provides a comprehensive overview of asymmetric ynamide chemistry since 2010 with a focus on the general scope, current limitations, stereochemical reaction control and mechanistic aspects.

Abstract
A novel gold‐catalyzed cycloisomerization of 1,6‐diynes was achieved, providing an atom‐economic approach to a diverse set of bicyclo[2.2.1]hept‐5‐en‐2‐ones in moderate to good yields. With unsymmetrical starting materials with two different internal alkynyl substituents, to some extent, the regioselectivity could be controlled by both electronic and steric factors. This unprecedented reactivity pattern may inspire new and unconventional strategies for the preparation of bridged ring systems.

Abstract
The generation of metal-containing 1,3-dipoles from metal carbenes represents a significant advance in 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions. However, these transformations have so far been limited to reactions based on diazo compounds or triazoles as precursors. Herein, we disclose a copper-catalyzed enantioselective reaction of alkenyl N-propargyl ynamides with styrene derivatives by formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition via Cu-containing all-carbon 1,3-dipoles, which constitutes a novel way for the generation of metal-containing 1,3-dipoles via metal carbenes. This protocol allows the practical and atom-economical synthesis of valuable chiral pyrrole-fused bridged [2.2.1] skeletons in moderate to good yields (up to 90% yield) with excellent diastereoselectivities (dr > 50/1) and generally excellent enantioselectivities (up to >99% ee).

Abstract
We report a switchable synthesis of acylindoles and quinoline derivatives via gold-catalyzed annulations of anthranils and ynamides. α-Imino gold carbenes, generated in situ from anthranils and an N,O-coordinated gold(III) catalyst, undergo electrophilic attack to the aryl π-bond, followed by unexpected and highly selective 1,4- or 1,3-acyl migrations to form 6-acylindoles or 5-acylindoles. With the (2-biphenyl)di-tert-butylphosphine (JohnPhos) ligand, gold(I) carbenes experienced carbene/carbonyl additions to deliver quinoline oxides. Some of these epoxides are valuable substrates for the preparation of 3-hydroxylquinolines, quinolin-3(4H)-ones, and polycyclic compounds via facile in situ rearrangements. The reaction can be efficiently conducted on a gram scale and the obtained products are valuable substrates for preparing other potentially useful compounds. A computational study explained the unexpected selectivities and the dependency of the reaction pathway on the oxidation state and ligands of gold. With gold(III) the barrier for the formation of the strained oxirane ring is too high; whereas with gold(I) this transition state becomes accessible. Furthermore, energetic barriers to migration of the substituents on the intermediate sigma-complexes support the observed substitution pattern in the final product.

Abstract
This study discloses the first enantioselective variant of the gold(I)-catalyzed hydrative cyclizations of ynamides, which have been implemented by using bis-gold(I) complexes of chiral diphosphines. Starting from N-propargyl-ynamides and water in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid, the cyclization reactions afford N-tosyl-3,6-dihydropyridin-2(1H)-ones in good isolated yields and with high levels of stereocontrol (20 examples, enantiomeric ratios up to 94:6).

Abstract
Cationic gold vinyl carbene/allylic cation complexes of the form (E)-[(L)AuC(H)C(H)CAr2]+ OTf- {L = IPr, Ar = Ph [(E)-5a], L = IPr, Ar = 4-C6H4OMe [(E)-5b], L = P(t-Bu)2 o-biphenyl, Ar = 4-C6H4OMe [(E)-5c]} were generated in solution via Lewis acid-mediated ionization of the corresponding gold (γ-methoxy)vinyl complexes (E)-(L)AuC(H)C(H)C(OMe)Ar2 at or below -95 °C. Complexes (E)-5b and (E)-5c were fully characterized in solution employing multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, which established the predominant contribution of the aurated allylic cation resonance structure and the significant distribution of positive charge into the γ-anisyl rings. Complex (E)-5b reacted rapidly at -95 °C with neutral two-electron, hydride, and oxygen atom donors exclusively at the C1 position of the vinyl carbene moiety and with p-methoxystyrene to form the corresponding vinylcyclopropane. In the absence of nucleophile (E)-5a decomposed predominantly via intermolecular carbene dimerization whereas formation of 1-aryl-5-methoxy indene upon ionization of (Z)-(IPr)AuC(H)C(H)C(OMe)(4-C6H4OMe)2 [(Z)-6b] implicated an intramolecular Friedel-Crafts or electrocyclic Nazarov pathway for the decomposition of the unobserved vinyl carbene complex (Z)-[(IPr)AuC(H)C(H)C(4-C6H4OMe)2]+ OTf- [(Z)-5b].

Abstract
Benzo[ d]isoxazoles are found to act as novel nucleophiles to undergo gold-catalyzed [5 + 1] or [5 + 2] cycloaddition reactions with ynamides. The reaction provides a concise and chemoselective access to polysubstituted 2 H-benzo[ e][1,3]oxazines or benzo[ f][1,4]oxazepines. In addition, benzo[ d]isoxazoles can also react with gold-carbene intermediates derived from propargyl esters to afford [5 + 1] annulation products.

Abstract
A gold-catalyzed cycloisomerization of ynamide-ynes via a formal dehydro-Diels-Alder reaction has been developed, providing an attractive route to diversely substituted benzo[ b]carbazoles. The reaction likely proceeds via regioselective attack of the pendant alkyne moiety to a keteniminium ion intermediate followed by benzannulation. The method offers several advantages such as high efficiency, mild reaction conditions, and wide functional group tolerance and serves as a highly useful complement to the thermal DDA reactions of ynamide-ynes.

Abstract
Gold(I) complexes bearing sterically demanding phosphine ligands such as tBuXphos catalyze the cascade Rautenstrauch rearrangement/[4 + 3] cycloaddition of 1-ethynyl-2-propenyl esters. The reaction provides an efficient and straightforward route to bicyclo[3.2.1]octa-3,6-dienes with high regio- and stereoselectivity. The formation of the [4 + 3] cycloadducts likely proceeds through the cycloaddition of a gold(I) carbenoid/gold-stabilized allyl cation intermediate with cyclopentadiene arising from Rautenstrauch rearrangement.

Abstract
Spontaneous spirocyclization of keto-sulfonamides via ynamides through a one-pot process is presented. Push-pull ynamides were obtained through Michael addition/elimination without Cu. The obtained azaspiro compounds are building blocks for indole alkaloids. Theoretical studies provide insights into the mechanism of the formal Conia-ene reaction.

Abstract
A gold-catalyzed formal [3 + 2] cycloaddition of ynamides with 4,5-dihydro-1,2,4-oxadiazoles has been developed. The reaction provides a concise and regioselective access to highly functionalized 4-aminoimidazoles likely via the formation of an α-imino gold carbene intermediate followed by cyclization. 4,5-Dihydro-1,2,4-oxadiazole was found to act as an efficient N-iminonitrene equivalent in these reactions.

Abstract
A synthetic method that relies on Au(I)-catalyzed tandem 1,3-acyloxy migration/double cyclopropanation of 1-ene-4,9-diyne and 1-ene-4,10-diyne esters to construct the respective architecturally challenging tetracyclodecene and tetracycloundecene derivatives is described. Achieved under mild reaction conditions, the transformation was shown to be robust with a wide variety of substitution patterns tolerated to give the two members of the carbocyclic family in good to excellent yields and as a single regio- and diastereomer.
