Abstract
The 3,4-dihydrocoumarin derivatives were obtained from 2-alkyl phenols and oxazolones via C-H oxidation and cyclization cascade in the presence of silver oxide (Ag2O) and p-toluenesulfonic acid as a Brønsted acid catalyst. This approach provides a one-pot strategy to synthesize the multisubstituted 3,4-dihydrocoumarins with moderate to high yields (64-81%) and excellent diastereoselectivity (>20:1).

Abstract
We have developed an efficient construction of 3-sulfonylindoles and 2-methyleneindophenols via decarboxylative propargylation/hydroamination of ethynyl benzoxazinanones using sodium sulfonates and phenols as the nucleophiles. The reaction featured mild conditions (K2CO3), simple operation, and high chemoselectivity and was transition-metal-free. Our protocol could also be extended to other nucleophiles, including malonates, alcohols, and indoles. The broad substrate scope and scalability made this protocol practical for the synthesis of indole derivatives.

Abstract
An efficient regio- and diastereoselective method for the construction of valuable trans-3,4-diaryldihydrocoumarins via metal-free [4+2] annulation of ynamides with o-hydroxybenzyl alcohols has been developed. Ynamides are first treated as 2-π partners to react with o-hydroxybenzyl alcohols via traceless sulfonamide directing groups, affording trans-3,4-diaryldihydrocoumarins in good yields with high regio- and diastereoselectivities. This metal-free methodology is also characterized by a wide substrate scope, good functional group tolerance, and efficiency on a gram scale.

Abstract
Two key factors bear on reaction rates for the conjugate addition of alkenyl boronic acids to heteroaryl-appended enones: the proximity of inductively electron-withdrawing heteroatoms to the site of bond formation and the resonance contribution of available heteroatom lone pairs to stabilize the developing positive charge at the enone β-position. For the former, the closer the heteroatom is to the enone β-carbon, the faster the reaction. For the latter, greater resonance stabilization of the benzylic cationic charge accelerates the reaction. Thus, reaction rates are increased by the closer proximity of inductive electron-withdrawing elements, but if resonance effects are involved, then increased rates are observed with electron-donating ability. Evidence for these trends in isomeric substrates is presented, and the application of these insights has allowed for reaction conditions that provide improved reactivity with previously problematic substrates.

Abstract
A highly enantioselective three-component hydroacyloxylation/1,4-conjugate addition of ortho-hydroxybenzyl alcohols, ynamides and carboxylic acids was developed under mild reaction conditions in the presence of a chiral N,N'-dioxide/Sc(OTf)3 complex, which went through in situ generated ortho-quinone methides with α-acyloxyenamides, delivering a range of corresponding chiral α-acyloxyenamides derivatives containing gem(1,1)-diaryl skeletons in moderate to good yields with excellent ee values. The scale-up experiment and further derivation showed the practicality of this catalytic system. In addition, a possible catalytic cycle and transition state model was proposed to elucidate the origin of the stereoselectivity based on X-ray crystal structure of the α-acyloxyenamide intermediate and product.

Abstract
A chiral N,N′-dioxide/cobalt(ii) complex catalyzed highly diastereoselective and enantioselective tandem aza-Piancatelli rearrangement/intramolecular Diels–Alder reaction has been disclosed. Various valuable hexahydro-2a,5-epoxycyclopenta[cd]isoindoles bearing six contiguous stereocenters have been obtained in good yields with excellent diastereo- and enantio-selectivities from a wide range of both readily available 2-furylcarbinols and N-(furan-2-ylmethyl)anilines. An asymmetric aza-Piancatelli rearrangement/Diels–Alder cascade reaction between 2-furylcarbinols and N-(furan-2-ylmethyl)anilines was realized by using a chiral N,N′-dioxide/cobalt(ii) complex catalyst.![]()

Abstract
A cyclopropanation/intramolecular rearrangement initiated by the Michael addition of in situ generated ortho-quinone methides (o-QMs) has been developed for the enantioselective synthesis of 2-aryl-2,3-dihydrobenzofurans containing two consecutive stereogenic centers, including a quaternary carbon atom. In the presence of a chiral oxazaborolidinium ion catalyst, the reaction proceeded in excellent yields (up to 95 %) with excellent stereoselectivity (up to >99 ee, up to >20:1 d.r.).

Abstract
An efficient synthesis of valuable poly-substituted 4H-chromenes was developed via a [4 + 2] cycloaddition followed by the elimination of 1,1-diarylalkenes. The inexpensive FeCl3 salt has proven to be an efficient catalyst for this transformation. The commercial availability of the catalyst and reagents, together with a convenient procedure, makes this an attractive method for 4H-chromene synthesis.

Abstract
The enantioselective conjugate addition of 2-naphthols to ortho-hydroxyphenyl substituted para-quinone methides has been achieved with the aid of a chiral phosphoric acid. Importantly, the reaction took place with excellent chemo- and regioselectivities. In addition, the protocol features a low catalyst loading, mild reaction conditions, and enables the formation of unsymmetrical triarylmethanes in good to high yields with generally high enantioselectivities. The enantioselective conjugate addition of 2-naphthols to ortho-hydroxyphenyl substituted para-quinone methides has been achieved with the aid of a chiral phosphoric acid.![]()

Abstract
The design and synthesis of recyclable imidazolidinone catalysts using GAP chemistry/technique was described. Their applications in asymmetric Diels-Alder and Friedel-Crafts reactions with α,β-unsaturated aldehydes resulted in excellent yields and higher enantioselectivities than previous processes. As recyclable small molecular catalysts, phosphonylated imidazolidinones can be recovered and reused for up to three runs without costing significant decrease in catalytic activity.
