Abstract
A series of simple [Pt(SCN)4]2- salts with a variety of cations was synthesized and characterized using X-ray crystallography to determine factors that could induce platinophilic interactions between [Pt(SCN)4]2- anions, including cation size and shape, charge, and ability to participate in hydrogen bonding. The salts [N(PPh3)2]2[Pt(SCN)4], [AsPh4]2[Pt(SCN)4], and [Co(1,10-phenanthroline)3][Pt(SCN)4] feature bulky, noncoordinating cations where the [Pt(SCN)4]2- anions are completely separated from each other, with no Pt-Pt interactions present. Salts containing the hydrogen-bonding cations [Co(NH3)6]2[Pt(SCN)4]3 and [Co(en)3]2[Pt(SCN)4]3 (en = 1,2-ethylenediamine) display close Pt-Pt distances, with both compounds exhibiting platinophilic interactions with distances of 3.373(2) and 3.539(8) Å, respectively, the first reported platinophilic interactions with the [Pt(SCN)4]2- unit. [Co(en)3]2[Pt(SCN)4]3 also presents intermolecular chalcogen S···S and Pt···S interactions, resulting in increased dimensionality while also assisting in assembling the platinophilic interaction. The compounds are emissive at 77 K in the solid state, exhibiting a d-d metal-centered transition regardless of whether or not any platinophilic interactions are present. Overall, hydrogen-bonding cations are most likely to promote close proximity of the Pt(II) metal centers and induce the formation of platinophilic interactions in [Pt(SCN)4]2-.

Abstract
The synthesis and crystal structures of two anionic cadmium dicyanoaurate coordination polymers, [nBu4N]6[(Cd4Cl4)2(Au(CN)2)12][CdCl4] (TCCA) and [nBu4N]2[Cd(Au(CN)2)4], and their reaction with ammonia vapour is reported. TCCA and the isostructural [nBu4N]6[(Cd4Br4)2(Au(CN)2)12][CdBr4] form 3-D arrays with [Cd4X4]4+ (X=Cl, Br) cubane clusters linked from each octahedral Cd(II) centre by three bridging [Au(CN)2]- units. TCCA reacts with ammonia with concentrations of 1000 ppm or higher to give a product with a quantum yield of 0.88, while [nBu4N]2[Cd(Au(CN)2)4], which forms a 2-D anionic Cd[Au(CN)2]2 sheet structure with axially pendant [Au(CN)2]- units, reacts with concentrated ammonia vapour to generate Cd(NH3)2[Au(CN)2]2; this has a similar 2-D sheet structure but with axial NH3 units. Vibrational spectroscopy illustrated that the reaction of both Cd/[Au(CN)2]-based materials with ammonia proceeded by breaking Cd-NC bonds. For [nBu4N]2[Cd(Au(CN)2)4], this results in decomposition into [nBu4N][Au(CN)2] ⋅ 0.5H2O and Cd(NH3)2[Au(CN)2]2, while the reaction of ammonia with TCCA is reversible by heating the ammonia-bound sample above 110 °C. Cd[Au(CN)2]2 can be prepared by thermal removal of NH3 units from Cd(NH3)2[Au(CN)2]2.

Abstract
A series of [Au(CN)4]- salts with lanthanide 2,2'-bipyridine dioxide cations features Au(III) aurophilic interactions between [Au(CN)4]- groups, with Au⋯Au distances of 3.3603(4) Å and 3.4354(4) Å that are shorter than any previously reported. Computations predict the interactions to be weakly attractive; packing effects appear to also contribute to the close contacts. The materials are emissive: there is no Au(III)-based luminescence, but for Ln = Eu the PLQY of 29% is surprisingly high compared to related analogues.

Abstract
Multifunctional optical materials can be realized by combining stimuli-responsive photoluminescence (PL), e.g., optical thermometry, with non-linear optical (NLO) effects, such as second-harmonic generation (SHG). We report a novel approach towards SHG-active luminescent thermometers achieved by constructing unique iridium(iii) complexes, cis-[IrIII(CN)2(R,R-pinppy)2]- (R,R-pinppy = (R,R)-2-phenyl-4,5-pinenopyridine), bearing both a chiral 2-phenylpyridine derivative and cyanido ligands, the latter enabling the formation of a series of molecular materials: (TBA)[IrIII(CN)2(R,R-pinppy)2]·2MeCN (1) (TBA+ = tetrabutylammonium) and (nBu-DABCO)2[IrIII(CN)2(R,R-pinppy)2](i)·MeCN (2) (nBu-DABCO+ = 1-(n-butyl)-1,4-diazabicyclo-[2.2.2]octan-1-ium) hybrid salts, (TBA)2{[LaIII(NO3)3(H2O)0.5]2[IrIII(CN)2(R,R-pinppy)2]2} (3) square molecules, and {[LaIII(NO3)2(dmf)3][IrIII(CN)2(R,R-pinppy)2]}·MeCN (4) coordination chains. Thanks to the chiral pinene group, 1-4 crystallize in non-centrosymmetric space groups leading to SHG activity, while the N,C-coordination of ppy-type ligands to Ir(iii) centers generates visible charge-transfer (CT) photoluminescence. The PL characteristics are distinctly temperature-dependent which was utilized in achieving ratiometric optical thermometry below 220 K. The PL phenomena were rationalized by DFT/TD-DFT calculations indicating an MLCT-type of the emission in obtained Ir(iii) complexes with the rich vibronic structure providing a few emission bands that variously depend on temperature due to the role of thermally activated vibrations. As these crucial vibrational modes depend on the crystal lattice, the thermometry performance differs within 1-4 being the most efficient in 4 while the SHG is by far the best also for 4. This proves that pinene-functionalized cyclometalated dicyanidoiridates(iii) are great prerequisites for tunable PL-NLO conjunction with the most effective multifunctionality ensured by the insertion of these anions into bimetallic frameworks.

Abstract
We report an effective strategy toward tunable room-temperature multicolor to white-light emission realized by mixing three different lanthanide ions (Sm3+, Tb3+, and Ce3+) in three-dimensional (3D) coordination frameworks based on hexacyanidoruthenate(II) metalloligands. Mono-lanthanide compounds, K{LnIII(H2O)n[RuII(CN)6]}·mH2O (1, Ln = La, n = 3, m = 1.2; 2, Ln = Ce, n = 3, m = 1.3; 3, Ln = Sm, n = 2, m = 2.4; 4, Ln = Tb, n = 2, m = 2.4) are 3D cyanido-bridged networks based on the Ln-NC-Ru linkages, with cavities occupied by K+ ions and water molecules. They crystallize differently for larger (1, 2) and smaller (3, 4) lanthanides, in the hexagonal P63/m or the orthorhombic Cmcm space groups, respectively. All exhibit luminescence under the UV excitation, including weak blue emission in 1 due to the d-d 3T1g → 1A1g electronic transition of RuII, as well as much stronger blue emission in 2 related to the d-f 2D3/2 → 2F5/2,7/2 transitions of CeIII, red emission in 3 due to the f-f 4G5/2 → 6H5/2,7/2,9/2,11/2 transitions of SmIII, and green emission in 4 related to the f-f 5D4 → 7F6,5,4,3 transitions of TbIII. The lanthanide emissions, especially those of SmIII, take advantage of the RuII-to-LnIII energy transfer. The CeIII and TbIII emissions are also supported by the excitation of the d-f electronic states. Exploring emission features of the LnIII-RuII networks, two series of heterobi-lanthanide systems, K{SmxCe1-x(H2O)n[Ru(CN)6]}·mH2O (x = 0.47, 0.88, 0.88, 0.99, 0.998; 5-9) and K{TbxCe1-x(H2O)n[Ru(CN)6]}·mH2O (x = 0.56, 0.65, 0.93, 0.99, 0.997; 10-14) were prepared. They exhibit the composition- and excitation-dependent tuning of emission from blue to red and blue to green, respectively. Finally, the heterotri-lanthanide system of the K{Sm0.4Tb0.599Ce0.001(H2O)2[Ru(CN)6]}·2.5H2O (15) composition shows the rich emission spectrum consisting of the peaks related to CeIII, TbIII, and SmIII centers, which gives the emission color tuning from blue to orange and white-light emission of the CIE 1931 xy parameters of 0.325, 0.333.

Abstract
The excited-state energy was tuned successfully by guest molecules in a cyanide-bridged luminescent coordination polymer (CP). Methanol or ethanol vapor reversibly and significantly changed the luminescent color of the CP between green and yellow (Δλem = 32 nm). These vapors did not significantly affect the environment around the luminophore in the ground state of the CP, whereas they modulated the excited states for the resulting bathochromic shift. The time-resolved photoluminescent spectra of the CP systems showed that solvent adsorption enhanced the energetic relaxation in the excited states. Furthermore, time-resolved infrared spectroscopy indicated that cyanide bridging in the CP became more flexible in the excited states than that in the ground state, highlighting the sensitivity of the excited states to external stimuli, such as the guest vapor. Overall, guest-tunable excited states will allow the more straightforward design of sensing materials by characterizing the transient excited states.

Abstract
Amorphous coordination polymers and metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted much attention owing to their various functionalities. Here, we demonstrate the tunable water adsorption behavior of a series of amorphous cyanide-bridged MOFs with different metals (M[Ni(CN)4]: MNi; M = Mn, Fe, and Co). All three compounds adsorb up to six water molecules at a certain vapor pressure (Pads) and undergo conversion to crystalline Hofmann-type MOFs, M(H2O)2[Ni(CN)4]·4H2O (MNi-H2O; M = Mn, Fe, and Co). The Pads of MnNi, FeNi, and CoNi for water adsorption is P/P0 = 0.4, 0.6, and 0.9, respectively. Although the amorphous nature of these materials prevented structural elucidation using X-ray crystallography techniques, the local-scale structure around the N-coordinated M2+ centers was analyzed using L2,3-, K-edge X-ray absorption fine structure, and magnetic measurements. Upon hydration, the coordination geometry of these metal centers changed from tetrahedral to octahedral, resulting in significant reorganization of the MOF local structure. On the other hand, Ni[Ni(CN)4] (NiNi) containing square-planar Ni2+ centers did not undergo significant structural transformation and therefore abruptly adsorbed H2O in the low-pressure region. We could thus define how changes in the bond lengths and coordination geometry are related to the adsorption properties of amorphous MOF systems.

Abstract
A heterostructure of WS2/WO3·H2O has been prepared by partial oxidation of WS2 nanosheets by exposing bulk WS2 micron powder to ultrasonic waves in a bath sonicator. The as-prepared nanomaterial was used as a sensing film in an interdigitated electrode-based gas detecting device. The device was found to be specific towards ammonia gas among a group oxidizing and reducing gases. In particular, a response of as high as 11.36-254.66% was recorded for ammonia concentrations of 50 ppb to 2 ppm with excellent repeatability and reproducibility at room temperature. The response time and recovery time of the device was found to be a few tens of seconds suggesting its practicability. A plausible mechanism based on different active sites present in the receptor film is proposed and a logical reason behind its specificity towards ammonia gas is also inferred based on the Lewis acidic centers on the nano-surfaces. Overall, this proposed nanomaterial has very high potential for practical use as a room temperature ammonia sensor.

In the title compound, di-μ-cyanato-1:2κ2 N:C;2:3κ2 C:N-di-cyanato-2κ2 C-bis-(1,4,7,10,13,16-hexa-oxa-cyclo-octa-deca-ne)-1κ6 O;3κ6 O-1,3-dipotassium(I)-2-platinum(II), [K2Pt(CN)4(C12H24O6)2] or [K(18-crown-6)]2·[Pt(CN)4], two trans-orientated cyano groups of the square-planar [Pt(CN)4]2- dianion (Pt site symmetry ) bind to one potassium ion each, which are additionally coordinated by the six O atoms of 18-crown-6. No Pt⋯Pt inter-actions occur in the crystal, but very weak Pt⋯H contacts (2.79 Å) are observed.
