Abstract
A quadruple N-heterocyclic carbene/cobalt/photoredox/Brønsted base catalysis to realize branch-selective hydroacylation of styrenes with aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes is demonstrated. This protocol allows access to branched ketones from readily available materials in an atom-economical manner. The quadruple catalysis can transfer a formyl hydrogen of aldehydes as a hydrogen radical equivalent onto the terminal carbon of an alkene by controlled electron and proton transfers.

Abstract
Acyl fluorides are versatile reagents in organic synthesis. However, there is no precedent to employ acyl fluorides as acyl radical precursors. We herein report an N-heterocyclic nitrenium iodide salt-catalyzed photoreduction of acyl fluorides to produce acyl radicals, which could react with 2-isocyanobiaryls to afford various carbonyl phenanthridines.

Abstract
Acyl fluorides have emerged as efficient acyl group donors, but these attractive reagents have rarely been utilized in transition-metal-catalyzed hydroacylation. Herein we report a nickel hydride-catalyzed hydroacylation of aryl alkenes using aroyl fluorides. The reaction proceeds without recourse to an exogenous ligand under mild conditions. The synthetic utility of the present method is demonstrated by the glovebox-free, gram-scale reaction and the late-stage derivatization of complex molecules containing pharmaceutical frameworks.

Abstract
AbstractNumerous studies on the activation of carbon–fluorine bonds have been reported in recent years. For example, acyl fluorides have been utilized as versatile reagents for acylation, arylation, and even fluorination. In this review, we focus on acyl fluorides as compounds with carbon–fluorine bonds, and highlight recent advances in strategies for the activation of their C–F bonds via transition-metal catalysis, N-heterocyclic carbene (NHCs) catalysis, organophosphine catalysis, and classical nucleophilic substitution reactions.1 Introduction2 Transition-Metal-Mediated C–F Bond Activation2.1 Acylation (Carbonyl-Retentive) Coupling Reactions2.2 Decarbonylative Reactions2.3 C–F Bond Activation by Other Transition Metals3 C–F Bond Activation by N-Heterocyclic Carbenes (NHCs)3.1 NHC-Catalyzed Cycloaddition of Acyl Fluorides3.2 NHC-Catalyzed Radical Functionalization of Acyl Fluorides3.3 NHC-Catalyzed Nucleophilic Fluorination of (Hetero)aromatics4 C–F Bond Activation by Phosphines4.1 Phosphine-Catalyzed Direct Activation of the C–F Bond of Acyl Fluorides4.2 Phosphine-Catalyzed Indirect Activation of the C–F Bond of Acyl Fluorides5 C–F Bond Activation by Classical Nucleophilic Substitution6 Miscellaneous Examples7 Summary and Perspective

Abstract
![]()
We describe the use
of phenyl trimethylammonium iodide (PhMe3NI) as an alternative
methylating agent for introducing a
CH3 group in α-position to a carbonyl group. Compared
to conventional methylating agents, quaternary ammonium salts have
the advantages of being nonvolatile, noncancerogenic, and easy-to-handle
solids. This regioselective method is characterized by ease of operational
setup, use of anisole as green solvent, and yields up to 85%.

Abstract
In this Letter, the palladium/copper-cocatalyzed arylsilylation of internal alkynes with acyl fluorides and silylboranes is described. This is the first example in which acyl fluorides have been utilized for the three-component coupling reaction via decarbonylation, yielding a variety of tetrasubstituted alkenylsilanes in moderate to good yields.

Abstract
A highly chemoselective reductive deuteration of acyl fluorides to provide α,α-dideuterio alcohols with exquisite levels of deuterium incorporation was developed using SmI2 and D2O as the deuterium source. This method introduces acyl fluorides as attractive radical precursors for the generation of reactive acyl-type fluoride ketyls that should find widespread application in many synthetic strategies involving single electron transfer processes.

Abstract
Acylphosphonates having the 5,5-dimethyl-1,3,2-dioxophosphinanyl skeleton are developed as efficient intermolecular radical acylation reagents, which enable the cobalt-catalyzed Markovnikov hydroacylation of unactivated alkenes at room temperature under mild conditions. The protocol exhibits broad substrate scope and wide functional group compatibility, providing branched ketones in satisfactory yields. A mechanism involving the Co-H mediated hydrogen atom transfer and subsequent trapping of alkyl radicals by acylphosphonates is proposed.

Abstract
We have developed a protocol for the Cu/Ni-catalyzed cyanomethylation of alkenes with acetonitrile for the synthesis of β,γ-unsaturated nitriles. This is the first example of a direct coupling of the alkene sp2 C-H bond and the acetonitrile sp3 C-H bond for the preparation of β,γ-unsaturated nitriles. Acetonitrile, an inexpensive and stable solvent, is demonstrated to be a useful cyanomethyl source. The combination of copper and nickel catalysts resulted in a high reaction efficiency.
