It is a great route designing new MOF ferroelectrics to enrich the scope of ferroelectrics or improving the ferroelectric performance to enhance the opportunity of applications through the strategy of post-synthetic modification (PSM).

Soft Ferroelectrics Enabling High-Performance Intelligent Photo Electronics

Soft ferroelectrics based on organic and organic-inorganic hybrid materials have gained much interest among researchers owing to their electrically programmable and remnant polarization. This allows for the development of numerous flexible, foldable, and stretchable nonvolatile memories, when combined with various crystal engineering approaches to optimize their performance. Soft ferroelectrics have been recently considered to have an important role in the emerging human-connected electronics that involve diverse photoelectronic elements, particularly those requiring precise programmable electric fields, such as tactile sensors, synaptic devices, displays, photodetectors, and solar cells for facile human-machine interaction, human safety, and sustainability. This paper provides a comprehensive review of the recent developments in soft ferroelectric materials with an emphasis on their ferroelectric switching principles and their potential application in human-connected intelligent electronics. Based on the origins of ferroelectric atomic and/or molecular switching, the soft ferroelectrics are categorized into seven subgroups. In this review, the efficiency of soft ferroelectrics with their distinct ferroelectric characteristics utilized in various human-connected electronic devices with programmable electric field is demonstrated. This review inspires further research to utilize the remarkable functionality of soft electronics.

Effect of Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) Database Selection on the Assessment of Gas Storage and Separation Potentials of MOFs

Development of computation-ready metal-organic framework databases (MOF DBs) has accelerated high-throughput computational screening (HTCS) of materials to identify the best candidates for gas storage and separation. These DBs were constructed using structural curations to make MOFs directly usable for molecular simulations, which caused the same MOF to be reported with different structural features in different DBs. We examined thousands of common materials of the two recently updated, very widely used MOF DBs to reveal how structural discrepancies affect simulated CH4 , H2 , CO2 uptakes and CH4 /H2 separation performances of MOFs. Results showed that DB selection has a significant effect on the calculated gas uptakes and ideal selectivities of materials at low pressure. A detailed analysis on the curated structures was provided to isolate the critical elements of MOFs determining the gas uptakes. Identification of the top-performing materials for gas separation was shown to strongly depend on the DB used in simulations.

Two 1D homochiral heterometallic chains: crystal structures, spectra, ferroelectricity and ferromagnetic properties

Two new homo chiral Cu–Ln (Ln = Gd and Ho) compounds bearing a chiral Schiff base ligand (1R,3S)-N′,N′′-bis[3-methoxysalicylidene]-1,3-diamino-1,2,2-trimethylcyclopentane (H₂L) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopic and single-crystal X-ray diffraction techniques. The compounds were found to exhibit 1D zig-zag skeletons with double μ-1,5 bridging dicyanamide anions. Circular dichroism (CD) spectra have been used to verify their chiroptical activities. Magnetic studies suggest that 1 and 2 hold the same magnetic behavior with the dinuclear compounds presenting ferromagnetic interaction. Furthermore, both compounds show ferroelectricity with the remnant polarization (P_r) value of 0.23 and 0.18 μC cm⁻² at room temperature, respectively.
