Abstract
Organic electrode materials are appealing candidates for a wide range of applications, including heterogeneous electrocatalysis and electrochemical energy storage. However, a narrow understanding of the structure-property relationships in these materials hinders the full realization of their potential. Herein, we investigate a family of insoluble perylenediimide (PDI) polymers to interrogate how backbone flexibility affects their thermodynamic and kinetic redox properties. We verify that the polymers generally access the highest percentage of redox-active groups with K+ ions (vs Na+ and Li+) due to its small solvation shell/energy and favorable soft-soft interactions with reduced PDI species. Through cyclic voltammetry, we show that increasing the polymer flexibility does not minimize barriers to ion-insertion processes but rather increases the level of diffusion-limited processes. Further, we propose that the condensation of imides to iminoimides can truncate the imide polymer chain growth for certain diamine monomers, leading to greater polymer solubilization and reduced cycling stability. Together, our results provide insight into how polymer flexibility, ion-electrode interactions, and polymerization side reactions dictate the redox properties of PDI polymers, paving the way for the development of next-generation organic electrode materials.

Abstract
A series of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) coordination polymers and dinuclear metallocycles containing 4-aminopyridine (4-ampy) and benzenedicarboxylate ligands, {[M(4-ampy)2(1,4-BDC)]·H2O·CH3CH2OH}n (M = Ni, 1a; Co, 1b, 1,4-H2BDC = benzene-1,4-dicarboxylic acid), {[Ni2(4-ampy)4(1,3-BDC)2]·H2O·CH3CH2OH}n (1,3-H2BDC = benzene-1,3-dicarboxylic acid), 2, [M2(4-ampy)4(1,2-BDC)2] (M = Ni, 3a; Co, 3b, 1,2-H2BDC = benzene-1,2-dicarboxylic acid), [Co(4-ampy)2(1,3-BDC)]n,4, {[Cu(4-ampy)2(1,4-BDC)] CH3CH2OH}n, 5a, and {[Cu(4-ampy)2(1,4-BDC)]·H2O}n, 5b·H2O, are reported, which were hydrothermally prepared and structurally characterized by using single crystal X-ray diffraction. Complexes 1a and 1b are isomorphous 1D zigzag chains, while 2 displays a concave–convex chain and 3a and 3b are dinuclear metallocycles that differ in the boding modes of the 1,2-BDC2− ligands, forming a 3D and a 2D supramolecular structures with the pcu and sql topologies, respectively. Complex 4 exhibit a 1D helical chain and complexes 5a and 5b·H2O are 1D linear and zigzag chains, in which the Cu2-1,4-BDC2− units adopt the cis and trans configurations, respectively. A novel irreversible structural transformation due to cis→trans isomerization of the Cu2-1,4-BDC2− units was observed in 5b⋅H2O and 5a upon water adsorption of the desolvated product of 5b·H2O.

Abstract
A series of novel silver(i) 2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (tpy), 4'-(4-methylphenyl)-2,2':6':2''-terpyridine (tpy-Ph-Me) and 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione (dione) derivatives containing PTA (1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) or 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane-7-sulfide (PTA[double bond, length as m-dash]S) have been synthesized and fully characterized. Two types of complexes have been obtained, monocationic [Ag(tpy)(PTA)](NO3) (1), [Ag(tpy-Ph-Me)(PTA)](NO3) (2), [Ag(dione)(PTA[double bond, length as m-dash]S)](BF4) (4) and [Ag(dione)2](PF6) (5) and neutral [Ag(dione)(PTA[double bond, length as m-dash]S)(NO3)] (3). The solid-state structures of four complexes have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complexes 1 and 2 are luminescent at room temperature and 77 K while 5 shows emission only at 77 K. Compounds 3 and 4 are not emissive. Furthermore, representative light-stable and water-soluble 1 and 3 were evaluated for their cytotoxic activities on the normal human dermal fibroblast (NHDF) cell line and their antitumor activity using the human lung carcinoma (A549), epithelioid cervix carcinoma (HeLa) and human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7) cell lines. Interactions between the complexes and human serum albumin (HSA) using UV-Vis, fluorescence and circular dichroism spectroscopy (CD) were also investigated.

Abstract
The complexes [Cd(cpbi)Cl2]·(H2O), [Hg2(cpbi)2Cl4] and [Hg(cpbi)Br2] (cpbi = [5-chloro-2-(pyrazin-2-yl)-1H-benzoimidazole]) have been synthesised using solvent evaporation reactions and structurally characterised by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The first complex displays a one-dimensional (1-D) chain structure, the second has a binuclear structure, while the third is mononuclear. The complexes show different luminescence properties.

Abstract
Mononuclear heteroleptic trigonal planar silver(i) complexes have been prepared and characterized, both in solution and in the solid state. Their luminescent behavior was investigated, showing a tunable emission maxima according to the electronic properties of the phosphorous ligand, in the solid state.
