Synthesis, Electrochemical and Photophysical Properties of 2,4,6‐Tripyridyl‐1,3,5‐Triazine‐Bridged Trinuclear Diimine Rhenium(I) Tricarbonyl Complexes

High-Symmetry Co/Ni Triazine Polycarboxylate Diverse Frameworks Constructed by Mx(COO)y Building Blocks: Characterization and Catalytic Performance Evaluation of p-Nitrophenol

Three new triazine compounds [Co_1.5(H₃TDPAT)(H₂O)₃]·6H₂O (1), [Co₂(TCPT)(μ₂-H₂O)₂]·OH (2), and [Ni₃(TCPT)]·3OH (3) were designed and synthesized via the reaction of the symmetrical triazine ligand connected by C-N-C and C-O-C bonds with triazine poly(carboxylic acid)s ligands as the side arms: H₆TDPAT (H₆TDPAT = 2,4,6-tris(3,5-dicarboxylphenylamino)-1,3,5-triazine) and H₃TCPT (H₃TCPT = 2,4,6-tris(4-carboxyphenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine) as well as the corresponding metal salts under the solvothermal condition. Three triazine polycarboxylate frameworks were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, X-ray powder diffraction, and solid fluorescent spectra in detail. The structural analysis results showed that the three-dimensional porous cage framework of compound 1 was constructed by three different polyhedral cages connected with [Co(COO)₄(H₂O)₂] building blocks. One of the compounds, 2, is formed by twin propeller Co₂(μ₂-H₂O)(COO)₃ building blocks connecting two-dimensional layers and the intermolecular π-π interactions involved the triazine rings between the layers. While the structure of compound 3 is similar to that of 2, assembly is by Ni(COO)₃ building blocks and adjacent layers of the face-to-face π-π interaction between the triazine rings. In order to explore functional properties, the catalytic reduction of p-nitrophenol (PNP) of compounds 1-3 was investigated. They exhibit excellent catalytic activity of more than 95% for reduction of PNP with a dose of 2.5 mg of the compounds.

Functionalized Triazines and Tetrazines: Synthesis and Applications

The molecules possessing triazine and tetrazine moieties belong to a special class of heterocyclic compounds. Both triazines and tetrazines are building blocks and have provided a new dimension to the design of biologically important organic molecules. Several of their derivatives with fine-tuned electronic properties have been identified as multifunctional, adaptable, switchable, remarkably antifungal, anticancer, antiviral, antitumor, cardiotonic, anti-HIV, analgesic, anti-protozoal, etc. The objective of this review is to comprehensively describe the recent developments in synthesis, coordination properties, and various applications of triazine and tetrazine molecules. The rich literature demonstrates various synthetic routes for a variety of triazines and tetrazines through microwave-assisted, solid-phase, metal-based, [4+2] cycloaddition, and multicomponent one-pot reactions. Synthetic approaches contain linear, angular, and fused triazine and tetrazine heterocycles through a combinatorial method. Notably, the triazines and tetrazines undergo a variety of organic transformations, including electrophilic addition, coupling, nucleophilic displacement, and intramolecular cyclization. The mechanistic aspects of these heterocycles are discussed in a detailed way. The bioorthogonal application of these polyazines with various strained alkenes and alkynes provides a new prospect for investigations in chemical biology. This review systematically encapsulates the recent developments and challenges in the synthesis and possible potential applications of various triazine and tetrazine systems.

Electrochromic behavior of fac-tricarbonyl rhenium complexes

Tricarbonyl rhenium complex shows good electrochromic performance with a colored stage of green, rapid response and good switching stability.

The role of substituted pyridine Schiff bases as ancillary ligands in the optical properties of a new series of fac-rhenium(i) tricarbonyl complexes: a theoretical view

Over the last few years, luminescent Re(i) tricarbonyl complexes have been increasingly proposed as fluorophores suitable for fluorescence microscopy to visualize biological structures and cells. In this sense, incorporating an asymmetrical pyridine Schiff base (PSB) as the ancillary ligand strongly modifies the staining and luminescent properties of Re(i) tricarbonyl complexes. In this work, we analyzed two series of Re(i) tricarbonyl complexes with their respective PSB ligands: (1) fac-[Re(CO)₃(2,2′-bpy)(PSB)]¹⁺ and (2) fac-[Re(CO)₃(4,4′-bis(ethoxycarbonyl)-2,2′-bpy)(PSB)]¹⁺, where the PSB exhibits substitutions at positions 4 or 6 in the phenolic ring with methyl or halogen substituents. Thus, we performed computational relativistic DFT and TDDFT studies to determine their optical properties. The ten complexes analyzed showed absorption in the visible light range. Furthermore, our analyses, including zero-field splitting (ZFS), allowed us to determine that the low-lying excited state locates below the ³LLCT states. Interestingly, seven of the ten analyzed complexes, whose corresponding PSB harbors an intramolecular hydrogen bond (IHB), exhibited luminescent emission that could be suitable for biological purposes: large Stokes shift, emission in the range 600–700 nm and τ in the order of 10⁻² to 10⁻³ s. Conversely, the three complexes lacking the IHB due to two halogen substituents in the corresponding PSB showed a predicted emission with the lowest triplet excited state energy entering the NIR region. The main differences in the complexes' photophysical behavior have been explained by the energy gap law and time-resolved luminescence. These results emphasize the importance of choosing suitable substituents at the 4 and 6 positions in the phenolic ring of the PSB, which determine the presence of the IHB since they modulate the luminescence properties of the Re(i) core. Therefore, this study could predict Re(i) tricarbonyl complexes' properties, considering the desired emission features for biological and other applications.
