Abstract
Palladium-catalyzed coupling reactions of small nucleophiles are of great interest, but challenging due to difficulties in selectivity control. Herein, we report the development of a new platform of P,N-ligands consisting of ylide-functionalized phosphines with aminophosphonium groups (NYPhos) to address this challenge. These phosphine ligands are easily accessible in a wide structural diversity with highly modular electronic and steric properties. Based on a family of 14 ligands the selective monoarylation of acetone as well as other challenging ketones and amides was accomplished with record-setting activities even for aryl chlorides at room temperature including late-stage functionalizations of drug molecules. Moreover, ammonia and other small primary amines could be coupled at mild conditions. Isolation and structure analyses of palladium complexes within the catalytic cycle confirmed that the P,N-coordination mode is necessary to achieve the observed selectivities. It also demonstrated the facile adjustability of the N-donor strength, which is beneficial for the targeted design of tailored P,N-ligands for future applications.

Abstract
Palladium-catalyzed synthesis of deoxybenzoin derivatives from styryl ethers and arylboronic acids is reported. The reaction proceeds under mild conditions in the presence of TEMPO and provides the desired products in good to excellent yields. Simple operation, broad substrate scope, and functional group tolerance are the salient features of the developed methodology.

Abstract
Two complementary regiodivergent Pd-catalyzed assisted tandem [isomerization/Heck arylation] reactions are reported. They provide access to a broad array of acyclic trisubstituted vinyl ethers starting from readily available alkenyl ethers. In both cases, the isomerization is conducted with a [Pd-H] precatalyst supported by tris-tert-butyl phosphine ligands. When the catalyst is modified by the addition of a chelating bisphosphine ligand (dppp), an organic base (Cy2NMe), sodium acetate, and aryl triflates are used as electrophiles, the α-arylation pathway is promoted preferentially. The β-arylation pathway is favored for electron-deficient and electron-neutral aryl halides when the catalyst is simply modified by the addition of an excess of an organic base (Et3N) after completion of the isomerization reaction. Electron-rich aryl halides lead to reduced levels of regiocontrol. The moderate stereoselectivity obtained are proposed to reflect the absence of stereocontrol in the isomerization step. Computational analyses suggest that migratory insertion is selectivity-determining for both the arylations. For the β-selective arylation, an energy decomposition analysis underscored that electronic factors favor α-regioselectivity and steric effects favor β-regioselectivity. Preliminary investigations show that high levels of stereoselectivity can be achieved for the α-selective arylation by ligand control. Complementarily, reaction conditions for postcatalytic stereo-correction have also been identified for each catalytic system.

We describe the use
of phenyl trimethylammonium iodide (PhMe3NI) as an alternative
methylating agent for introducing a
CH3 group in α-position to a carbonyl group. Compared
to conventional methylating agents, quaternary ammonium salts have
the advantages of being nonvolatile, noncancerogenic, and easy-to-handle
solids. This regioselective method is characterized by ease of operational
setup, use of anisole as green solvent, and yields up to 85%.

Abstract
Preparation of α-aryl acetophenones from styryl ethers and aryldiazonium salts is described. The reaction is catalyzed by palladium acetate at room temperature in the absence of ligand and base. The developed method is highly attractive in terms of reaction conditions, substrate scope, functional group tolerance and yields. Synthetic applications of the present method are demonstrated by preparing α-aryl indoles and 3-aryl isocoumarin from styryl ethers.

Abstract
Microwave-assisted synthesis of the pyrazolyl ketone p38 MAPK inhibitor RO3201195 in 7 steps and 15% overall yield, and the comparison of its effect upon the proliferation of Werner Syndrome cells with a library of pyrazolyl ketones, strengthens the evidence that p38 MAPK inhibition plays a critical role in modulating premature cellular senescence in this progeroid syndrome and the reversal of accelerated ageing observed in vitro on treatment with SB203580.

Abstract
Pd(OAc)2/1,10-phenanthroline-catalysed addition of potassium phenyltrifluoroborate to aliphatic dinitriles in 2-MeTHF has been developed, achieving diphenyl diones in moderate to excellent yields. The scope of the developed approach was successfully explored toward the addition of potassium phenyltrifluoroborate to aromatic dinitriles. Additionally, a plausible pathway for the formation of the diones has been proposed.

Abstract
The combination of Pd(OAc)(2) with 1,3-bis(diphenylphosphino)propane (dppp) in ethylene glycol constitutes a high-performance catalytic system for highly regioselective arylation of a range of electron-rich vinyl ethers by aryl bromides to provide, upon hydrolysis, alkyl aryl ketones and cyclic ketals in good yields with up to 3.75 x 10(5) TON and 15625 h(-1) TOF.
