Cauliflower‐like Platinum Particles Decorated Reduced Graphene Oxide for Sensitive Determination of Acetaminophen

Facile Synthesis of Platinum Nanoparticle-Embedded Reduced Graphene Oxide for the Detection of Carbendazim

In recent years, there has been a significant interest in the advancement of electrochemical sensing platforms to detect pesticides with high sensitivity and selectivity. Current research presents a novel approach utilising platinum nanoparticles (NPs) and reduced graphene oxide deposited on a glassy carbon electrode (Pt-rGO/GCE) for direct electrochemical measurement of carbendazim (CBZ). A straightforward one-step electrodeposition process was applied to prepare the Pt-rGO sensing platform. The incorporation of conductive rGO nanosheets along with distinctive structured Pt NPs significantly enhanced the effective electrode surface area and electron transfer of CBZ. Additionally, when exposed to 50 µM CBZ, Pt-rGO/GCE exhibited a higher current response compared to the bare electrode. Further investigations were performed to analyse and optimise the experimental parameters that could influence pesticide detection. Under the optimised conditions of pH 7 and 5 min of accumulation time, the Pt-rGO/GCE sensor showed a linear concentration detection range from 0.1 µM to 50 µM, with a detection limit of 3.46 nM. The fabricated sensor was successfully employed for CBZ detection in milk and tap water with 98.88% and 98.57% recovery, respectively. The fabricated sensor showed higher sensitivity and reproducibility, thus indicating the potential of this technology in the development of reliable sensors for the detection of CBZ or similar pesticides in forthcoming applications.

A bibliometric analysis of graphene in acetaminophen detection: Current status, development, and future directions

Acetaminophen is a widely used analgesic throughout the world. Detection of acetaminophen has particular value in pharmacy and clinics. Electrochemical sensors assembled with advanced materials are an effective method for the rapid detection of acetaminophen. Graphene-based carbon nanomaterials have been extensively investigated for potential analytical applications in the last decade. In this article, we selected papers containing both graphene and acetaminophen. Bibliometrics was used to analyze the relationships and trends among these papers. The results show that the topic has grown at a high rate since 2009. Among them, the detection of acetaminophen by an electrochemical sensor based on graphene is the most important direction. Graphene has moved from being a primary sensing material to a substrate for immobilization of other active ingredients. In addition, the degradation of acetaminophen using graphene-modified electrodes is also an important direction. We analyzed the research history and current status of this topic through bibliometrics. Authors, institutions, countries, and key literature were discussed. We also proposed perspectives for this topic.

Voltammetric determination of acetaminophen in pharmaceutical preparations and human urine using glassy carbon paste electrode modified with reduced graphene oxide

A completely new direct voltammetric method has been developed for determination of acetaminophen (APAP), known as popular analgesic drug. The present electroanalytical method is based on anodic oxidation of APAP at the glassy carbon paste electrode modified with reduced graphene oxide (RGO). Key experimental conditions were studied, resulting in a set of optimal conditions: acetate buffer (pH 5.0) as working medium electrolyte, content of RGO, parameters of squarewave voltammetry including the potential step of 5 mV, potential amplitude of 50 mV, and frequency of 40 Hz. If peak area is used for evaluation, a linear range from 1.2 × 10^–6 to 2.2 × 10^–4 mol L⁻¹ characterized by determination coefficient of 0.9971, limits of quantification and detection, 9.3 × 10^–7 mol L⁻¹ and 3.1 × 10^–7 mol L⁻¹, respectively, will be obtained. Under validation, the precision was described by relative standard deviation of 2.9% for the model sample analysis. Finally, the developed voltammetric method was compared with a reference high-performance liquid chromatography method in the analysis of commercially available pharmaceutical preparation and human urine collected from five healthy volunteers.

Transition metal copper composite ionic liquid self-built ratiometric sensor for the detection of paracetamol

In this paper, a MOF derivative Cu-PF₆-MOF composed of transition metal copper and ionic liquid [BMIM] PF₆ was used to construct a ratiometric electrochemical sensor for paracetamol detection. Cu-PF₆-MOF was synthesized by chemical bath method and characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS) and X-ray powder diffraction (XRD). Owing to the introduction of ionic liquid [BMIM] PF₆ and the synthetic effect on transition metal copper and ionic liquid [BMIM] PF₆, Cu-PF₆-MOF has the higher conductivity, larger electroactive surface area and better intrinsic catalytic properties of the skeletal transition metal, exhibiting enhanced electrocatalytic response to the reduction of paracetamol. The stable reduction peak at -104 mV was used as the ratiometric signal for analytical paracetamol detection using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), with a linear range of 0.1-100 μM and a detection limit of 0.03 μM (S/N = 3). In addition, the constructed sensor showed good reproducibility, stability and interference resistance, as well as ideal recoveries (98.20%-104.40%) for the analysis of paracetamol in water samples.

Metal-organic framework precursors derived Ni-doping porous carbon spheres for sensitive electrochemical detection of acetaminophen

The sensitive and selective determination of acetaminophen (AP) in the human body is highly desirable to ensure human health. In this work, nickel-doping nanoporous carbon (Ni/C) was fabricated by directly calcining Ni based metal-organic framework (Ni-MOF). The Ni/C based electrochemical sensor was developed for sensitive and selective determination of AP in human blood serum and urine samples. The prepared Ni/C composite possess plentiful catalytic active sites, ordered mesoporous structure and large specific surface area, which endow the constructed Ni/C sensor with a prominent performance for acetaminophen sensing. Under the optimal conditions, the developed method offered good linearity in the range of 0.20-53.75 μM with a low detection limit (S/N = 3) of 4.04 × 10^-2 μM. The electrocatalytic performance of the sensor towards AP was further measured by differential pulse voltammetry and cyclic voltammetry. The results demonstrated that the Ni/C sensor can be feasibly employed for the determination of AP in human blood serum and urine samples with excellent anti-interference stability and good reproducibility. The research reveals a great promising of the Ni/C electrochemical sensor for clinical applications and paves a way for the construction of high-performance electrochemical sensors for AP determination.
