Abstract
The current project was planned to access the enzyme inhibition potential of the synthesize imines; (E)-2-(2-hydroxy-4,5-dimethoxybenzylideneamino)benzonitrile 1 and (E)-2-(((3-hydroxy-4-methylphenyl)imino)methyl)-4-methoxyphenol 2 by the reported protocol of our continuous research and also assess their theoretical function in term of in silico action. The structural characterization of imines was done through advanced techniques i.e., FTIR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, and UV spectroscopy. Moreover, a single X-Ray diffraction technique (SCXRD) was employed for real structural identification of imines dimensions, which revealed that compound 1 has a triclinic crystal system although 2 has a monoclinic one. A 2D fingerprint plot and Hirshfeld surface analysis (HS) was employed in the crystalline assembly of compounds to check intermolecular contacts and also their degree of contributions. Both compounds were optimized by B3LYP functional mode using a certain basis set (6-31G). The practical data (XRD) and theoretical data (DFT) of both molecules were compared and found between a sound coherence. Molecular docking studies in term of in silico assessment were conducted against enzymes of the esterase and alpha-glucosidase family. The docking outputs give a forecast about compounds that could be employed as protein inhibitors against analyzed protein surfaces.

Abstract
This research work focuses on the synthesis, characterization through spectra (FT-IR, UV-vis, and 1H-NMR) investigations, and the use of density functional theory (DFT) along with time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) to investigate the electronic, structural, reactivity, photophysical properties, and the photovoltaic properties of a novel (E)-6-(4-(dimethylamino)phenyl)diazenyl)-2-octyl-benzoisoquinoline-1,3-dione. The structure of the synthesized compound was modeled using the Gaussian09W and GaussView6.0.16 softwares employing B3LYP and 6-31 + G(d) basis set. The DFT studies was performed in order to investigate the Frontier Molecular Orbital (FMO), Natural Bond Orbital (NBO), charge distribution, Nonlinear Optics (NLO), and stability of the titled molecule. The HOMO-LUMO energy gap which corresponds to the difference between HOMO and LUMO energies of the studied compound was found to be 2.806 eV indicating stiff and smooth nature of the titled molecule. This accounts for the less stability and high chemical reactivity of the compound. The photovoltaic properties were conducted to evaluate the light harvesting efficiency (LHE), short circuit current density (JSC), Gibbs free energy of injection ([Formula: see text]), open cycled voltage (VOC) and Gibbs free energy regeneration ([Formula: see text]) and solar cell conversion efficiency. Interestingly, the results obtained were found to be in good agreement with other experimental and computational findings.

Microwave prompted solvent-free synthesis of new series of heterocyclic tagged 7-arylidene indanone hybrids and their computational, antifungal, antioxidant, and cytotoxicity study. Bioorg Chem 2021; 115:105259. [PMID: 34426144 DOI: 10.1016/j.bioorg.2021.105259] [Citation(s) in RCA: 9] [Impact Index Per Article: 2.3] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Key Words] [Track Full Text] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 02/13/2021] [Revised: 07/25/2021] [Accepted: 08/06/2021] [Indexed: 12/23/2022]
Abstract
In this study, we report the expeditious synthesis of ten new antifungal and antioxidant agents containing heterocyclic linked 7-arylidene indanone moiety. The solvent-free microwave technique, ample substrate scope, superfast synthesis, and very simple operation are noteworthy features of this protocol. Antifungal activities of the newly synthesized compounds were evaluated against four fungal strains namely Rhizophus oryzae, Mucor mucido, Aspergillus niger, and Candida albicans. Most of the compounds were shown strong inhibition of the investigated fungal agents. In vitro, antioxidant potential against DPPH and OH radicals affirmed that the synthesized compounds are good to excellent radicals scavenging agents. The cytotoxicity data of the synthesized compounds towards HL-60 cells uncovered that the synthesized compounds display very low to negligible cytotoxicity. The structural and quantum chemical parameters of the synthesized compounds were explored by employing density functional theory (DFT) at B3LYP functional using 6-311G(d,p) basis set. The compound 3a is discussed in detail for the theoretical and experimental correlation. Time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) at CAM-B3LYP functional with 6-311G(d,p) basis set was used for the electronic absorption study in the gas phase and indichloromethane and benzene solvents. The UV-Visible absorption peaks and fundamental vibrational wavenumbers were computed and a good agreement between observed and theoretical results has been achieved. From the DFT and antifungal activity correlation, it has been found that the 7-heteroarylidene indanones with more stabilized LUMO energy levels display good antifungal potential.
