Abstract
The reaction of sulfamethoxazolehydrazonoyl chloride with thiosemicarbazones, bis-thiosemicarbazones, or 4-amino-3-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole in dioxane in the presence of triethylamine as a basic catalyst at reflux resulted in the regioselective synthesis of thiazoles and bis-thiazoles linked to azo-sulfamethoxazole as novel hybrid molecules. The structures of the new compounds were confirmed using a range of spectra. Each compound's antibacterial properties were evaluated using the agar well-diffusion technique, and most of them demonstrated significant potency. In silico investigations revealed that the described compounds had strong interactions with the binding sites of MurE ligase, tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase, and dihydropteroate synthase, demonstrating inhibitory activity.

Abstract
Thiosemicarbazones are biologically active substances whose structural formula is formed by an azomethine, an hydrazine, and a thioamide fragments, to generate a R2C=N-NR-C(=S)-NR2 backbone. These compounds often act as ligands to generate highly stable metal-organic complexes. In certain experimental conditions, however, thiosemicarbazones undergo reactions leading to the cleavage of the chain. Sometimes, the breakage involves desulfurization processes. The present work summarizes the different chemical factors that influence the desulfurization reactions of thiosemicarbazones, such as pH, the presence of oxidant reactants or the establishment of redox processes as those electrochemically induced, the effects of the solvent, the temperature, and the electromagnetic radiation. Many of these reactions require coordination of thiosemicarbazones to metal ions, even those present in the intracellular environment. The nature of the products generated in these reactions, their detection in vivo and in vitro, together with the relevance for the biological activity of these compounds, mainly as antineoplastic agents, is discussed.

Abstract
This work focuses on the synthesis of novel modified core-shell CdTe/CdS quantum dots (QDs) and develops as a fluorescence sensor for glucose determination. The (E)-2,2'-(4,4'-dioxo-2,2'-dithioxo-2H,2'H-[5,5'-bithiazolylidene]-3,3'(4H,4'H)-diyl)bis(3- mercaptopropanoic acid) (DTM) as a new derivative of thiazolidine was synthesized and characterized and used to surface-modification of CdTe/CdS QDs. DTM-capped CdTe/CdS QDs used to immobilization of glucose oxidase (GOD). The intensity fluorescence emission of the CdSe/CdS-DTM/GOD is highly sensitive to the concentration of H2O2 as a byproduct of the catalytic oxidation of glucose. The experimental results showed that the quenched fluorescence was proportional to the glucose concentration within the range of 10 nM-0.32 μM under optimized experimental conditions. The limit of detection of this system was found to be 4.3 nM. Compared with most of the existing methods, this newly developed system possesses many advantages, including simplicity, low cost, and good sensitivity.

Abstract
Herein we introduce an effective approach for incorporating sulfamic acid (SA) into HKUST-1. The synthesized materials have been characterized using XRD, XPS, BET, FT-IR, SEM, EDX and TEM. The X-ray diffraction pattern of SA@HKUST-1 is analogous to that of parent HKUST-1 in line shape and d-spacing, proving that chemical modification could be obtained without damage to structural solidity. The XPS spectra confirmed successful sulfonation, due to the single S 2p peak being attributable to SO3H groups at 168 eV. Catalytic efficiency was studied for 7-hydroxy-4-methyl coumarin and 3,4-dihydropyrimidinone synthesis and it was found to be highly dependent on the amount of SA loaded over HKUST-1. Moreover, the adsorptive removal activity of some common organic and inorganic pollutants from water has been studied. To fully understand the adsorption process, the effects of initial dye concentration, pH of solution, adsorbent dosage, contact time and temperature on the adsorption process were successfully studied. Under the optimum conditions 10 wt% SA@HKUST-1 was able to reach the maximum adsorption capacity for Pb2+ (298 mg g−1) and Malachite green (290 mg g−1). Hopefully, this will facilitate research on improving the prospective use of MOFs for future applications. Herein we introduce an effective approach for incorporating sulfamic acid (SA) into HKUST-1.![]()

Abstract
Background:Application of coordination chemistry in nanotechnology is a rapidly developing research field in medicine. Bismuth complexes have been widely used in biomedicine with satisfactory therapeutic effects, mostly in Helicobacter pylori eradication, but also as potential antimicrobial and anti-leishmanial agents. Additionally, in recent years, application of bismuth-based compounds as potent anticancer drugs has been studied extensively. Methods:Search for data connected with recent trends on bismuth compounds in cancer chemo- and radiotherapy was carried out using web-based literature searching tools such as ScienceDirect, Springer, Royal Society of Chemistry, American Chemical Society and Wiley. Pertinent literature is covered up to 2016.Results:In this review, based on 213 papers, we highlighted a number of current problems connected with: (i) characterization of bismuth complexes with selected thiosemicarbazone, hydrazone, and dithiocarbamate classes of ligands as potential chemotherapeutics. Literature results derived from 50 papers show that almost all bismuth compounds inhibit growth and proliferation of breast, colon, ovarian, lung, and other tumours; (ii) pioneering research on application of bismuth-based nanoparticles and nanodots for radiosensitization. Results show great promise for improvement in therapeutic efficacy of ionizing radiation in advanced radiotherapy (described in 36 papers); and (iii) research challenges in using bismuth radionuclides in targeted radioimmunotherapy, connected with choice of adequate radionuclide, targeting vector, proper bifunctional ligand and problems with 213Bi recoil daughters toxicity (derived from 92 papers). Conclusion:This review presents recent research trends on bismuth compounds in cancer chemo- and radiotherapy, suggesting directions for future research.

Abstract
Novel (E)-1-(aryl)-3-(4-(2-(dimethylamino)ethoxy)-3-methoxyphenyl) prop-2-en-1-ones 4 were synthesized by a Claisen-Schmidt reaction of 4-(2-(dimethylamino)ethoxy)-3-methoxy-benzaldehyde (2) with several acetophenone derivatives 3. Subsequently, cyclocondensation reactions of chalcones 4 with hydrazine hydrate afforded the new racemic 3-aryl-5-(4-(2-(dimethylamino)ethoxy)-3-methoxyphenyl)-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazole-1-carbaldehydes 5 when the reaction was carried out in formic acid. The antifungal activity of both series of compounds against eight fungal species was determined. In general, chalcone derivatives 4 showed better activities than pyrazolines 5 against all tested fungi. None of the compounds 4a–g and 5a–g showed activity against the three Aspergillus spp. In contrast, most of the compounds 4 showed moderate to high activities against three dermatophytes (MICs 31.25–62.5 µg/mL), being 4a followed by 4c the most active structures. Interestingly, 4a and 4c possess fungicidal rather than fungistatic activities, with MFC values between 31.25 and 62.5 μg/mL. The comparison of the percentages of inhibition of C. neoformans by the most active compounds 4, allowed us to know the role played by the different substituents of the chalcones’ A-ring. Also the most anti-cryptococcal compounds 4a–c and 4g, were tested in a second panel of five clinical C. neoformans strains in order to have an overview of their inhibition capacity not only of standardized but also of clinical C. neoformans strains. DFT calculations showed that the electrophilicity is the main electronic property to explain the differences in antifungal activities for the synthesized chalcones and pyrazolines compounds. Furthermore, a quantitative reactivity analysis showed that electron-withdrawing substituted chalcones presented the higher electrophilic character and hence, the greater antifungal activities among compounds of series 4.

Abstract
Phosphine ligand stabilized air-stable Cu(I) complexes have been successfully used to functionalize the aromatic aminobenzoic acids in a chemoselective manner without implementing protection and deprotection strategy under mild reaction conditions. This chemoselective carbene insertion into -NH bond over -COOH and -OH bonds leads to the wide range of carboxy and hydroxy functionalized α-amino esters (27 examples). All of the isolated new products have been fully characterized using standard analytical methods.
