Abstract
Herein, an enhanced electrochemiluminescence (ECL) aptasensor driven by a complex (T4PPVB-COP@CdS QDs) with large specific surface area and high stability was constructed for highly sensitive detection of chlorpyrifos (CPF), using electrostatic interactions and signal amplification techniques. In the presence of CPF, the specific binding between the aptamer and CPF caused partial detachment of the aptamer from the sensor, thus restoring the ECL signal. Notably, gold nanoparticles functionalized with streptavidin (SA) as signal enhancers further amplified the ECL signal in specific interactions with aptamers, thereby improving the sensitivity of the assay. Based on this, the proposed ECL aptasensor demonstrated significant detection performance for CPF with a linear range of 1-107 pg/mL and a LOD of 0.34 pg/mL. Furthermore, the feasibility of the ECL aptasensor was validated by the detection and analysis of CPF in real samples, which also provided a broad reference value for bioanalysis.

Abstract
In this work, cellulose nanofibers and graphene oxide are used to fabricate a simple and reliable electrochemical biosensor, based on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) for the detection of highly dangerous organophosphates (OPs), utilizing chlorpyrifos as a representative sample. AChE is an enzyme that is essential for neurotransmission and catalyzes the conversion of acetylcholine (ATCh) into thiocholine and acetic acid. The pesticide used in this work, chlorpyrifos, inhibits the catalytic activity of AChE on ATCh, and this inhibition can be measured using square wave voltammetry (SWV). Utilizing a process of surface modification, layers of cellulose nanofibers, graphene oxide, a chitosan-graphene oxide composite, and acetylcholinesterase (AChE/CS-GO/GO/CNFs) were immobilized on a screen-printed carbon electrode (SPCE). The modified SPCE working electrode was characterized using scanning electron microscopy and graphene oxide trapped in the cellulose nanofibers was found to increase the sensitivity of the biosensor. The modified biosensor demonstrated good performance for detection of chlorpyrifos over a linear range of 25–1000 nM under optimum conditions, and the limits of detection and quantification were 2.2 nM and 73 nM, respectively. Our sophisticated technique might offer a more precise, straightforward, quick, and environmentally friendly way to assess chlorpyrifos contamination in water and juice samples. Cellulose nanofibers and graphene oxide are used to fabricate an electrochemical biosensor based on acetylcholinesterase for detecting organophosphates. This biosensor is simple and reliable, and it utilizes chlorpyrifos as a representative sample of highly dangerous OPs.![]()

Abstract
Worldwide growing concerns about water contamination and pollution have increased significant interest in trace level sensing of variety of contaminants. Thus, there is demand for fabrication of low cost, miniaturized sensing device for in-situ detection of contaminants from the complex environmental matrices capable of providing selective and sensitive detection. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) has portrayed a substantial potential for selective recognition of various toxicants from a variety of environmental matrices, thus widely used as artificial recognition element in the electrochemical sensors (ECS) owing to their chemical stability, easy and low cost synthesis. The combination of nanomaterials modifiers with MIPs has endowed MIP-ECS with significantly improved sensing performance in the recent years, as the nanomaterial provide properties such as increased surface area, increased conductivity and electrocatalytic activity with enhanced electron transport phenomena, whereas MIPs provide selective recognition effect. In the present review, we have summarized the advances of MIP-ECS electrochemical sensors reported in last six years (2017-2022) for sensing of variety of contaminates including drugs, metal ions, hormones and emerging contaminates. Scope of computational modelling in design of sensitive and selective MIP-ECS is reviewed. We have focused particularly on the synthetic protocols for MIPs preparation including bulk, precipitation, electropolymerization, sol-gel and magnetic MIPs. Moreover, use of various nanomaterial as modifiers and sensitizers and their effects on the sensing performance of resulting MIP-ECS is described. Finally, the potential challenges and future prospects in the research area of MIP-ECS have been discussed.

Abstract
In this study, a novel and innovative enzyme-free electrochemiluminescence (ECL) pesticide probe based on a ternary nanocomposite, CuS/CQDs/g-C3N4NS, was demonstrated for the accurate monitoring of chlorpyrifos. Boron nitride quantum dots were introduced as a new and effective coreactant in comparison with other coreactants, such as hydrogen peroxide, peroxydisulfate, and tripropylamine, in the negative potential range for the first time. The nanocomposite as a promoted luminophore was synthesized by a one-pot microwave route. Carbon quantum dots and copper sulfide nanostructures were truly incorporated on the porous graphitized carbon nitride, which displayed a good cooperative effect on the signal improvement. CuS as a co-reaction accelerator and CQDs with a superior luminescence effect produced more radical species, and thus, the ECL signal was amplified. Upon increasing the appropriate concentration of this coreactant in electrolyte media, the signal intensity of the nanocomposite increases. A low detection limit of 3.0 × 10-16 M and a wide range from 2.0 × 10-15 to 7.0 × 10-9 M were gained. Also, the fabricated pesticide sensor presented excellent repeatability for 20 consecutive optical signals, with a RSD of about 1.4%. Owing to its high proficiency, the developed sensor was applied as a new probe for chlorpyrifos analysis in water and fruit samples.

Abstract
The increase of the global population and shortage of renewable water resources urges the development of possible remedies to improve the quality and reusability of waste and contaminated water supplies. Different water pollutants, such as heavy metals, dyes, pesticides, endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs), and pharmaceuticals, are produced through continuous technical and industrial developments that are emerging with the increasing population. Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) represent a class of synthetic receptors that can be produced from different types of polymerization reactions between a target template and functional monomer(s), having functional groups specifically interacting with the template; such interactions can be tailored according to the purpose of designing the polymer and based on the nature of the target compounds. The removal of the template using suitable knocking out agents renders a recognition cavity that can specifically rebind to the target template which is the main mechanism of the applicability of MIPs in electrochemical sensors and as solid phase extraction sorbents. MIPs have unique properties in terms of stability, selectivity, and resistance to acids and bases besides being of low cost and simple to prepare; thus, they are excellent materials to be used for water analysis. The current review represents the different applications of MIPs in the past five years for the detection of different classes of water and wastewater contaminants and possible approaches for future applications.

Abstract
In this paper, the catalytic activity of CeO2 NPs toward oxime oxidation was adopted for the first time to develop an electrochemical sensor with improved sensitivity toward the direct detection of organophosphorus pesticides (OPs) without electrochemical redox activity. To enhance the conductivity of the sensor, CeO2 NPs together with multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were deposited onto a bare glassy carbon electrode (GCE) by the simple method of drop-casting. The electrochemical properties of the as-prepared sensor were evaluated in K3[Fe(CN)6] solution and the oxidation behavior of pralidoxime (PAM) chloride on the electrodes was characterized by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). The results show that the modification of CeO2 onto the electrode not only increases the electroactive area of the electrode but also significantly increases the peak current of PAM chloride oxidation, which confirms that CeO2 has an electrocatalytic effect toward oxime oxidation. To evaluate the sensitivity of the as-fabricated sensor, the inhibition rate of PAM chloride peak current was tested in PAM chloride solution containing different concentrations of chlorpyrifos, which shows a very small detection limit of 2.5 × 10-9 M. In addition, the sensor successfully achieved a convenient and sensitive determination of OPs in vegetable extracts.

Abstract
Herein, an innovative enzyme free electrochemiluminescence chlorpyrifos sensor was reported based on the incorporation of ternary nanocomposite (ruthenium nanobeads/silver nanoparticles/graphene oxide) on the surface of glassy carbon electrode. The silver nanoparticles as a robust signal enhancing agent were well deposited on the modified graphene oxide/glassy carbon electrode and exhibited supreme electrocatalytic proficiency. Then, Ru(bipy)32+ species in bead-like nanoparticles were uniformly anchored on the surface of the modified electrode with the help of chitosan, as a good crosslinking agent. Boron nitride quantum dots as a new coreactant species showed the excellent proficiency for signal enhancement of the fabricated electrode. The fabricated electrode was successfully used as an ultra-sensitive sensor for trace analysis of chlorpyrifos by ECL technique. The wide linear range and the low detection limit were obtained from 5.0 × 10-15 to 4.2 × 10-9 M and 6.5 × 10-16 M, respectively.

Abstract
The ever-increasing presence of contaminants in environmental waters is an alarming issue, not only because of their harmful effects in the environment but also because of their risk to human health. Pharmaceuticals and pesticides, among other compounds of daily use, such as personal care products or plasticisers, are being released into water bodies. This release mainly occurs through wastewater since the treatments applied in many wastewater treatment plants are not able to completely remove these substances. Therefore, the analysis of these contaminants is essential but this is difficult due to the great variety of contaminating substances. Facing this analytical challenge, electrochemical sensing based on molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) has become an interesting field for environmental monitoring. Benefiting from their superior chemical and physical stability, low-cost production, high selectivity and rapid response, MIPs combined with miniaturized electrochemical transducers offer the possibility to detect target analytes in-situ. In most reports, the construction of these sensors include nanomaterials to improve their analytical characteristics, especially their sensitivity. Moreover, these sensors have been successfully applied in real water samples without the need of laborious pre-treatment steps. This review provides a general overview of electrochemical MIP-based sensors that have been reported for the detection of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, heavy metals and other contaminants in water samples in the past decade. Special attention is given to the construction of the sensors, including different functional monomers, sensing platforms and materials employed to achieve the best sensitivity. Additionally, several parameters, such as the limit of detection, the linear concentration range and the type of water samples that were analysed are compiled.

Abstract
A highly sensitive and convenient electrochemical sensor, based on surface molecularly imprinted polymers and multiwalled carbon nanotubes, was successfully developed to detect chlorpyrifos in real samples. In order to solve the problems like uneven shapes, poor size accessibility, and low imprinting capacity, the layer of the molecularly imprinted polymer was prepared on the surface of silica nanospheres. Moreover, the doping of multiwalled carbon nanotubes greatly improved the electrical properties of developed sensor. Under the optimal conductions, the electrochemical response of the sensor is linearly proportional to the concentration of chlorpyrifos in the range of 5.0 × 10-12 -5.0 × 10-8 mol/L with a low detection limit of 8.1 × 10-13 mol/L. The prepared sensor exhibited multiple advantages such as low cost, simple preparation, convenient use, excellent selectivity, and good reproducibility. Finally, the prepared sensor was successfully used to detect chlorpyrifos in vegetable and fruit.
