Abstract
The concentration of dopamine (DA) and tyrosine (Tyr) reflects the condition of patients with Parkinson's disease, whereas moderate paracetamol (PA) can help relieve their pain. Therefore, real-time measurements of these bioanalytes have important clinical implications for patients with Parkinson's disease. However, previous sensors suffer from either limited sensitivity or complex fabrication and integration processes. This work introduces a simple and cost-effective method to prepare high-quality, flexible titanium dioxide (TiO2) thin films with highly reactive (001)-facets. The as-fabricated TiO2 film supported by a carbon cloth electrode (i.e., TiO2-CC) allows excellent electrochemical specificity and sensitivity to DA (1.390 µA µM-1 cm-2), Tyr (0.126 µA µM-1 cm-2), and PA (0.0841 µA µM-1 cm-2). More importantly, accurate DA concentration in varied pH conditions can be obtained by decoupling them within a single differential pulse voltammetry measurement without additional sensing units. The TiO2-CC electrochemical sensor can be integrated into a smart diaper to detect the trace amount of DA or an integrated skin-interfaced patch with microfluidic sampling and wireless transmission units for real-time detection of the sweat Try and PA concentration. The wearable sensor based on TiO2-CC prepared by facile manufacturing methods holds great potential in the daily health monitoring and care of patients with neurological disorders.

Abstract
A sensitive and selective spectrophotometric approach comprising of successive ratio subtraction was developed for quantification and resolution of spectrum of mixture containing three components without prior separation. Three components, namely paracetamol, chlorzoxazone and ibuprofen were present in tablet dosage form. The linearity studies were carried out by recording zero order spectra and measuring absorbances at 285.0, 282.0 and 220.0 nm for paracetamol, chlorzoxazone and ibuprofen respectively. The drugs exhibited linear response in the concentration range of 6.0-18.0, 3.0-15.0 and 4.0-20.0 µg / mL for paracetamol, chlorzoxazone and ibuprofen respectively. The spectrum of paracetamol was most extended which was subsequently followed by moderately extended spectrum of chlorzoxazone and unextended spectrum of ibuprofen. The ratio spectra were manipulated successfully for quantification of paracetamol, chlorzoxazone, and ibuprofen. The developed method was validated as per ICH guidelines for the parameters of specificity, linearity, precision and accuracy. The percent recoveries for all the three drugs were in the range of 98.0-102.0 % with mean recovery of paracetamol, chlorzoxazone and ibuprofen were 99.72, 99.02 and 100.34 % respectively. Additionally the validity of the method is assured by analyzing marketed formulation.

Abstract
A sensitive and selective electrochemical sensor for the determination of paracetamol (acetaminophen) is proposed based on a polyglycine-coated glassy carbon electrode. The electrochemical behavior of paracetamol was studied by cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry. Under optimal experimental conditions, the peak oxidation current of paracetamol increases linearly in the range of 0.5-75 μM. The limit of detection of paracetamol was 0.03 μM and the limit of quantitation was 0.09 μM. In addition, modified glassy carbon with polyglycine as the sensor was successfully used for the determination of paracetamol in antipyretic children's syrup samples, with a recovery rate of over 95.3%, showing its great application potential in drug analysis.

Abstract
Gastrointestinal tract disorders constitute a heavy burden to healthcare providers. To eradicate Helicobacter pylori infection, different triple therapy protocols have been proposed. Among which are combinations of proton pump inhibitors (e.g., omeprazole), histamine-2 receptor antagonists (e.g., famotidine), along with antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin). In this work, a sensitive and accurate high-performance thin-layer chromatographic method was developed for the simultaneous determination of amoxicillin, metronidazole, and famotidine in bulk powder and laboratory-prepared combined-tablet mixtures. Complete separation of the cited compounds was achieved using pre-coated silica gel plates with a mixture of methanol:chloroform:toluene:water:glacial acetic acid (5:2:1.5:0.5:0.1 v/v/v/v/v) as the mobile phase. The method was fully validated as per the international conference of harmonization guidelines. Good linearity, a correlation coefficient of 0.9991, was obtained in the concentration ranges 0.1-1.6 μg/band (amoxicillin), 0.1-0.9 μg/band (metronidazole), and 0.1-0.9 μg/band (famotidine). Since the method allowed the determination of the three compounds in combined tablets with a high degree of selectivity, accuracy, precision, with cost-effectiveness, it could be used for regular quality control. Moreover, the applicability of the proposed method was extended to the determination of the ternary mixture in simulated gastric juice. Method greenness was assessed using different green metrics.

Abstract
A micellar hydrogel has long been considered an intelligent hydrophobic drug delivery material. In this study, synthesized PLA1750-PEG1750-PLA1750 micellar hydrogel aims to encapsulate ibuprofen (IBU) in the core PLA hydrophobic of the micelle and prolong the drug release time by an injectable route. The structure and morphology of the PLA1750-PEG1750-PLA1750 copolymer hydrogel were demonstrated by 1H NMR and TEM data. The hydrogel also achieved a gel state at a high concentration of 25 wt.% under the physiological conditions of the body (37°C, pH 7.4). Besides, the biocompatibility test displayed that the hydrogel slightly affected mice after injection one week and fully recovered after four weeks. Furthermore, the in vitro degradation of the hydrogel showed apparent gel erosion after the first three weeks, which is related to the IBU release rate: slow for the first three weeks and then fast. As a result, the total drug release after three and four weeks was 18 wt.% and 41 wt.%, respectively. However, in the first 24 hours, the amount of the drug released was 10 wt.%, suggesting that the IBU drug diffused from the surface hydrogel to the buffer solution. These show that PLA1750-PEG1750-PLA1750 hydrogel can be a potential IBU drug delivery candidate.

Simultaneous Voltammetric Determination of Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) Using a Modified Carbon Paste Electrode and Chemometrics. SENSORS (BASEL, SWITZERLAND) 2022; 23:421. Abstract
This work presents the simultaneous quantification of four non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), paracetamol, diclofenac, naproxen, and aspirin, in mixture solutions, by a laboratory-made working electrode based on carbon paste modified with multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-CPE) and Differential Pulse Voltammetry (DPV). Preliminary electrochemical analysis was performed using cyclic voltammetry, and the sensor morphology was studied by scanning electronic microscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The sample set ranging from 0.5 to 80 µmol L-1 was prepared using a complete factorial design (34) and considering some interferent species such as ascorbic acid, glucose, and sodium dodecyl sulfate to build the response model and an external randomly subset of samples within the experimental domain. A data compression strategy based on discrete wavelet transform was applied to handle voltammograms' complexity and high dimensionality. Afterward, Partial Least Square Regression (PLS) and Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) predicted the drug concentrations in the mixtures. PLS-adjusted models (n = 12) successfully predicted the concentration of paracetamol and diclofenac, achieving correlation values of R ≥ 0.9 (testing set). Meanwhile, the ANN model (four layers) obtained good prediction results, exhibiting R ≥ 0.968 for the four analyzed drugs (testing stage). Thus, an MWCNT-CPE electrode can be successfully used as a potential sensor for voltammetric determination and NSAID analysis.

Abstract
Etoricoxib (ETO), Paracetamol (PCM), and two toxic impurities for Paracetamol impurity K (4-aminophenol (PAP)) and impurity E (para-hydroxy acetophenone (PHA)) were separated using a simple and selective HPLC method that was tested for the first time. PCM is a commonly used analgesic and antipyretic medication that has recently been incorporated into COVID-19 supportive treatment. Pharmaceuticals containing PCM in combination with other analgesic-antipyretic drugs like ETO help to improve patient compliance. The studied drugs and impurities were separated on a GL Sciences Inertsil ODS-3 (250 × 4.6) mm, 5.0 µm column, and linear gradient elution was performed using 50 mM potassium dihydrogen phosphate adjusted to pH 4.0 with ortho-phosphoric acid and acetonitrile as mobile phase at 2.0 mL/min flow rate at 25 °C and UV detection at 220 nm. The linearity range was 1.5-30.0 µg/mL for ETO and PCM while 0.5-10.0 µg/mL for PAP and PHA, with correlation coefficients (r) for ETO, PCM, PAP, and PHA of 0.9999, 0.9993, 0.9996, and 0.9998, respectively. The proposed method could be used well for routine analysis in quality control laboratory.

Abstract
AbstractA self-assembly Pd-Schiff base complex was synthesized and used as an electrochemical sensor in phosphate buffer solution, where it enhanced the electrocatalytic activity toward the paracetamol detection. The Schiff base {(HL) = (4-(((Z)-3-(hydroxyimino) butan-2-ylidene) amino)-1,5-dimethyl-2-phenyl-1,2-dihydro-3H-pyrazol-3-one)} was selected to prepare Pd-based complexes due to its high antimicrobial activity. A linear calibration curve was constructed using GC/Pd-SB in paracetamol concentration range of 1–50 μM and its detection limit was calculated as 0.067 μM. The modified electrode, GC/Pd-SB, could successfully determine the paracetamol concentration in human blood serum and commercial drug tablets with high sensitivity. The prepared metal complex was characterized using techniques, namely, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). In addition, electrochemical studies were performed using different electrochemical techniques like cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV), chronoamperometry (CA), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). DFT calculations were used to estimate the equilibrium geometry, molecular orbital, ground-state properties, and interaction energy between paracetamol and palladium.

Abstract
Modern society has been facing serious health-related problems including food safety, diseases and illness. Hence, it is urgent to develop analysis methods for the detection and control of food contaminants, disease biomarkers and pathogens. As the traditional instrumental methods have several disadvantages, including being time consuming, and having high cost and laborious procedures, optical nanosensors have emerged as promising alternative or complementary approaches to those traditional ones. With the advantages of simple preparation, high surface-to-volume ratio, excellent biocompatibility, and especially, unique optical properties, gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have been demonstrated as excellent transducers for optical sensing systems. Herein, we provide an overview of the synthesis of AuNPs and their excellent optical properties that are ideal for the development of optical nanosensors based on local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR), colorimetry, fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET), and surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) phenomena. We also review the sensing strategies and their mechanisms, as well as summarizing the recent advances in the monitoring of food contaminants, disease biomarkers and pathogens using developed AuNP-based optical nanosensors in the past seven years (2015-now). Furthermore, trends and challenges in the application of these nanosensors in the determination of those analytes are discussed to suggest possible directions for future developments.

Abstract
A new chemiluminescence (CL) method was proposed to measure two widely used drugs, including paracetamol (PCM) and vancomycin (VAN). The CL reaction used was the CuS nanoparticles (CuS NPs)-luminol-O2 system. In this system, CuS NPs played the role of catalyst and increased the CL intensity. CuS NPs were easily synthesized by quick-precipitation. CuS NPs were characterized by spectroscopic techniques, and the mean size of NPs was estimated to be about 9 nm. In the developed CL methods, PCM and VAN decreased the CL intensity. In the proposed method, the linear concentration ranges were 4.0 × 10-5-4.0 × 10-4 mol L-1 of PCM and 2.0 × 10-5-6.0 × 10-4 mol L-1 of VAN. The limit of detections were 2.9 × 10-5 mol L-1 and 8.9 × 10-6 mol L-1 for PCM and VAN, respectively. The relative standard deviations (RSD) of the CL method were 2.99 and 4.31 (n = 6) for the determination of 3.0 × 10-4 mol L-1 PCM and VAN, respectively. It was also shown that the CL methods can measure PCM and VAN concentrations in various real samples.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The advantages of simultaneous analyses are a decrease in analysis time and a more economical use of solvents and reagents. It is desirable that HPLC analyses possess both short term and good resolution. OBJECTIVE The aim of the current study is to develop an HPLC method for the simultaneous determination of ibuprofen, sodium benzoate, methyl paraben and propyl paraben as preservatives, and sunset yellow as a colorant, in syrup formulation. METHOD To optimize chromatographic separation conditions, multi-response optimization using the Derringer's desirability function was employed for the development of a rapid and efficient HPLC method. The ranges of independent variables used for the optimization process were 50-60% (v/v) for acetonitrile, 5.0-7.0 for pH, and 1.0-2.0 mL/min for flow rate of the mobile phase. The effects of these variables on the output responses, such as critical resolution between sunset yellow and sodium benzoate and retention time of the last peak indicating analysis time of the method, were evaluated by statistical experimental design. RESULTS Optimum conditions fixed for the simultaneous analyses were acetonitrile:phosphate buffer (60:40, v/v), pH 5.0, and a flow rate of 1.8 mL/min. The eluate was monitored using a photo diode detector set at 220 nm. Total chromatographic analysis time was approximately 3 min. CONCLUSIONS The developed method validated as per International Conference on Harmonization guidelines was successfully applied for the determination of five compounds in their pharmaceutical formulation. HIGHLIGHTS This efficient method has isocratic elution system and can be used for routine analyses of these compounds in similar pharmaceutical products.

Abstract
Paracetamol (PAR) is an effective antipyretic and analgesic drug utilized worldwide, safer at therapeutic levels but over-dosing and the chronic usage of PAR results in accumulation of toxic metabolites, which leads to kidney and liver damages. Hence, a simple, rapid, cost-effective, and sensitive analytical technique is needed for the accurate determination of PAR in pharmaceutical and biological samples. Though numerous techniques have been reported for PAR detection, electrochemical methods are being receiving more interest due to their advantages. Moreover, in the past few decades, room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) have been utilized in electrochemical sensors due to their attractive properties. In this present review, authors gathered research findings available for the determination of PAR using RTIL-based electrochemical sensors and discussed. The advantages and limitations in these systems as well as the future research directions are summarized.

Abstract
Two simple, sensitive, and reproducible methods were developed for the determination of alogliptin and metformin hydrochloride in presence of metformin impurity "melamin" in pure form and in pharmaceutical formulation. Method (A) was a thin layer chromatographic method in which separation was achieved using ethyl acetate-methanol-formic acid (6:3.8:0.2, by volume) as a developing system followed by densitometric scanning at 230 nm. Method (B) was a high-performance liquid chromatography method; separation was achieved on C18 column, the mobile phase consisted of a mixture of sodium lauryl sulfate buffer 0.1% w/v, pH 3: methanol in the ratio 70:30, v/v and measurement was done at 220 nm. System suitability testing parameters were calculated to ascertain the quality performance of the developed chromatographic methods. The proposed methods have been validated regarding accuracy, precision, and selectivity, moreover they have been successfully applied to Westirizide tablets containing both alogliptin and metformin hydrochloride, results indicate that there was no interference from additives. No significance difference was found when these methods were compared to the reported one.

Abstract
Catalpol hexapropionate (CP-6) was designed and synthesized as anti-aging drug. In order to investigate the behavior of CP-6 in simulated gastric juice, ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization-high resolution mass spectrometry was used to determinate the components produced in simulated gastric conditions. Six metabolites were identified with the possible metabolic processes proposed. Hydrolysis may be the main metabolic pathways. The relative contents of CP-6 and its metabolites were determined using their extractive ion chromatograms. The results show that the relative content of CP-6 is rapidly decreased about 15% during the first 0.5 h and generally stable after 0.5 h. The mainly produced metabolites are catalpol penta-propionate (CP-5), catalpol and a spot of catalpol tetra-propionate (CP-4), catalpol tri-propionate (CP-3), catalpol dipropionate (CP-2) and catalpol propionate (CP-1). The metabolitic process of CP-6 may be an hydrolysis under acid conditions. The research results can provide useful information for development and utilization of CP-6 as a pharmaceutical preparation.
