Abstract
Polyaniline (PANI) is one of the best known and widely studied conducting polymers with multiple applications and unique physicochemical properties. Due to its porous structure and relatively high surface area as well as the affinity toward many analytes related to the ability to establish different types of interactions, PANI has a great potential as a sorbent in sample pretreatment before instrumental analyses. This study provides an overview of the applications of polyaniline and polyaniline composites as sorbents in sample preparation techniques based on solid-phase extraction, including conventional solid-phase extraction (SPE) and its modifications, solid-phase microextraction (SPME), dispersive solid-phase extraction (dSPE), magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) and stir-bar sorptive extraction (SBSE). The utility of PANI-based sorbents in chromatography was also summarized. It has been shown that polyaniline is willingly combined with other components and PANI-based materials may be formed in a variety of shapes. Polyaniline alone and PANI-based composites were successfully applied for sample preparation before determination of various analytes, both metal ions and organic compounds, in different matrices such as environmental samples, food, human plasma, urine, and blood.

Abstract
Abstract
Herein, ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem four-stage mass spectrometry (UPLC–MS/MS) combined with a novel polyamide membrane extraction was used to rapidly determine industrial dyes in grain and meat products. Polyamide was used as an adsorbent in the membrane. When the sample was treated by the polyamide membrane, the industrial dyes were absorbed by the N-propyl Ethylenediamine (PSA) into the polyamide membrane, while most other ingredients were passed through the membrane. Then, the industrial dyes were eluted from the polyamide membrane by different solvents to be analyzed by UPLC–MS/MS. The novel pretreat method will reduce the time of the whole process to less than 30 minutes. The recovery of the dye was between 71% and 126%, and the precision was between 3 and 13. The results showed that the polyamide membrane can be used as a pretreatment method for detecting multicomponent industrial dyes in grain and meat products, which is rapid, simple, reliable and accurate.

Integrated ultrasound-assisted magnetic solid-phase extraction for efficient determination and pre-concentration of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from high-consumption soft drinks and non-alcoholic beers in Iran. Abstract
In the present research, an ultrasound-assisted magnetic solid-phase extraction coupled with a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry hybrid system was developed for extraction/determination of trace amounts of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in high-consumption soft drinks and non-alcoholic beers in Iran using magnetite graphene oxide adsorbent. The magnetite graphene oxide was characterized by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and vibrating-sample magnetometer techniques. The highest extraction recovery (73.05 to 95.56%) and enrichment factor (90.65 to 106.38) were obtained at adsorbent mass: 10 mg, adsorption time: 30 min, salt addition: sodium chloride 10% w/v, desorption time: 20 min, eluent type: hexane: acetone (1:1, v/v), and desorption solvent volumes: 200 μL. Under optimum conditions, the linearity range for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons determination was 0.2-200 ng mL-1 with coefficient of determination> 0.993, limit of detection = 0.09-0.21 ng mL-1 , limit of quantitation = 0.3-0.7 ng mL-1 , and relative standard deviation < 8.1%, respectively. Relative recoveries in spiked real samples ranged from 94.67 to 109.45 % with standard deviation < 6.05%. The proposed method is effective, sensitive, reusable and it is promising for the analysis of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons residues in environmental samples. Abstract
An organic polymer was re-precipitated in solution to use as an adsorbent in dispersive solid phase extraction of some pesticides from honey samples prior to their determination by high performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. In this approach, different deep eutectic solvents were prepared using lysine and their ability in elution of the analytes from the adsorbent surface were tested. A diluted honey solution was transferred into a glass test tube and then a solution of polystyrene dissolved in dimethylformamide was injected into the solution. By doing this, polystyrene re-precipitated in the solution and dispersed in whole parts of it as many tiny particles. Then the mixture was centrifuged and the adsorbed analytes on the particles were eluted using a proper hydrophilic deep eutectic solvent. Central composite design approach was used for optimization of effective parameters. The limits of detection and quantification were in the ranges of 0.06-0.20 and 0.22-0.69 ng/g, respectively. The calibration curves obtained by matrix-matched standard solutions were linear in the range of 0.69-500 ng/g with coefficient of determinations ≥0.9962. The method provided high extraction recoveries (70-99%) and enrichment factors (140-198), and an acceptable precision (relative standard deviations ≤7.1%). This article is protected by copyright. Abstract
A new and efficient extraction procedure was proposed and used for the simultaneous extraction of four hydroxylated metabolites polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from urine samples. The extraction procedure was started by dissolving an organic polymer into a water-miscible organic solvent (iso-propanol) and its injection into the sample solution. The sorbent was re-precipitated in all parts of the solution as tiny particles and the analytes were adsorbed onto the sorbent. After that, the sorbent was separated and the adsorbed analytes were eluted by choline chloride: dichloroacetic acid deep eutectic solvent. The elution solvent was mixed with choline chloride-3,3-dimethyl butyric acid deep eutectic solvent and the mixture was applied in dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction procedure for more concentration of the analytes. After optimization, the method validation was followed according to International Council Harmonization guidelines and the results showed that wide linear ranges (26-500 000 ng/L) and low limits of detection (3.6-7.2 ng/L) and quantification (11-26 ng/L) were obtained. Satisfactory enrichment factors (435-475) and extraction recoveries (87-95%), and acceptable relative standard deviations (equal or less than 8.6%) were obtained. Finally, the introduced method was successfully applied for determination of the analytes in urine samples obtained from tobacco smokers.
