Abstract
Going beyond the conventional approach of pairwise conjugation between two molecules, the integration of multiple components onto a central scaffold molecule is essential for the development of high-performance molecular materials with multifunctionality. This approach also facilitates the creation of functionalized molecular probes applicable in diverse fields ranging from pharmaceuticals to polymeric materials. Among the various click functional groups, the azido group stands out as a representative click functional group due to its steric compactness, high reactivity, handling stability, and easy accessibility in the context of multi-azide scaffolds. However, the azido groups in multi-azide scaffolds have not been well exploited for site-specific use in molecular conjugation. In fact, multi-azide compounds have been well used to conjugate to the same multiple fragments. To circumvent problems of promiscuous and random coupling of multiple different fragments to multiple azido positions, it is imperative to distinguish specific azido positions and use them orthogonally for molecular conjugation. This review outlines methods and strategies to exploit specific azide positions for molecular conjugation in the presence of multiple azido groups. Illustrative examples covering di-, tri- and tetraazide click scaffolds are included.

Abstract
Multicomponent polymerization (MCP) is an innovative field related to polymer-based chemistry that offers numerous advantages derived from multicomponent reactions (MCRs). One of the key advantages of MCP is its ability to achieve high efficiency. Additionally, MCP offers other advantages, including operational simplicity, mild reaction conditions, and atom economy. MCP is a versatile technique that is used for synthesizing a wide range of analogs from several classes of heterocyclic compounds. The ring structures of heterocyclic polymers give them different mechanical, photophysical, and electrical properties to other types of polymers. Because of their unique properties, heterocyclic polymers have been widely utilized in various significant applications. MCRs are a type of chemical reaction that can be used to synthesize a wide variety of compounds in a single pot, which allows researchers to quickly assemble libraries of compounds. The development of MCPs from MCRs has made it easier to access a library of polymers with tunable structures. However, MCPs related to alkynes or acetylene triple bonds have more potential. In this review study, we provide an overview of the synthesis of heteroatom-functional polymers and alkyne-based development or other reactions such as Cu-catalyzed, catalyst-free, MCCP, MCTPs, green monomers, A3 coupling reactions, Passerini reactions, and sequence- and controlled-multicomponent polymerization. The up-to-date progress provides a convenient and efficient kind of approach related to heteroatoms and MCP synthesis, and perspectives in terms of future directions are also discussed in the study.

Abstract
As an important nitrogen source, isocyanides have been involved in numerous organic reactions. As a result, many complicated compounds have been successfully synthesized through isocyanide chemistry. However, compared with its popular research in organic reactions, the application of isocyanides in polymerization is less investigated. In this work, a new polymerization based on isocyanide monomers is established. By simply mixing diisocyanoacetates and dialdehydes in the presence of a catalytic system of CuCl/PPh3 /organobase in dichloromethane at room temperature readily produces soluble and thermally stable oxazoline-containing polymers with moderate weight-averaged molecular weights (Mw up to 11 200) in excellent yields (up to 97%) after 6 h. Furthermore, introducing the tetraphenylethene moiety into the main chains endows the resultant polymers with aggregation-induced emission, which can function as fluorescent probes for Fe3+ ion detection with high sensitivity and selectivity. This work not only enriches the family of isocyanide-based polymerizations but also provides an efficient tool for the preparation of functional heterocycle-containing polymers.

Abstract
Density functional theory calculations were used to investigate the reaction mechanisms on [3 + 2] cycloaddition reactions of azides with metal carbyne complexes. Our results reveal that the formation of a 1,4-metallatriazole regioisomer is a kinetically favorable process in comparison with the formation of 1,5-metallatriazole. Aromaticity plays an important role in stabilizing the products in these reactions. Further analyses show that the electron-donating ligand on metal centers or the electron-withdrawing group on the azide could accelerate the [3 + 2] cycloaddition reaction. All of these findings could be useful for experimental chemists to develop "click reactions" in organometallic chemistry.

Abstract
The C-H activation has been a hot research area in organic chemistry, and the most difficult one is the C(sp3)-H activation. Although the C-H activation has been introduced to the research of synthetic polymer chemistry, the polymerization developed based on C(sp3)-H activation is rarely reported, which will enrich the tools for the preparation of functional polymers. In this work, palladium/benzoic acid catalyzed polymerization of internal diynes and diols through C(sp3)-H activation was successfully established. Regio- and stereoregular functional poly(allylic ether)s with 100% E-isomers and high weight average molecular weights (Mw up to 33200) were prepared in excellent yield (98%). The reaction mechanism was unveiled with the assistance of density functional theory calculations. Furthermore, the thin films of polymers display high refractive indices and low optical dispersions. The polymer containing tetraphenylethene moiety displays the aggregation-enhanced emission feature and could be used to generate 2D fluorescent photopattern. Thus, this work not only establishes a powerful polymerization based on C(sp3)-H activation, but also furnishes functional polymers for diverse applications.

Abstract
The 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition of activated internal alkynes with azides has been developed into an efficient polymerization reaction for constructing functional linear 1,4,5-trisubstitued polytriazoles. However, it is rarely employed for the synthesis of hyperbranched polymers. In this work, metal-free polycycloadditions of tris(3-phenylpropiolate)s (1) and tetraphenylethene-containing diazides (2) are performed in dimethylformamide at 100 °C for 7 and 12 h, producing hyperbranched poly(phenyltriazolylcarboxylate)s (hb-PPTCs) with high molecular weights and satisfactory regioregularities in good yields. The hb-PPTCs have good solubility in common organic solvents and high thermal stability. They are non-emissive in solutions, but emit intensively upon aggregation, showing an aggregation-induced emission effect. Their aggregates can work as fluorescent sensors for explosive detection with high sensitivity. Furthermore, the polymers can be utilized for the fabrication of 2D fluorescent patterns with high resolution by UV irradiation through copper grid masks.

Abstract
Sequence-controlled polymers, including biopolymers such as DNA, RNA, and proteins, have attracted much attention recently because of their sequence-dependent functionalities. The development of an efficient synthetic approach for non-natural sequence-controlled polymers is hence of great importance. Multicomponent polymerizations (MCPs) as a powerful and popular synthetic approach for functional polymers with great structural diversity have been demonstrated to be a promising tool for the synthesis of sequence-controlled polymers. In this work, we developed a facile metal-free one-pot multicomponent tandem polymerization (MCTP) of activated internal alkynes, aromatic diamines, and formaldehyde to successfully synthesize structural-regulated and sequence-controlled polyheterocycles with high molecular weights (up to 69 800 g/mol) in high yields (up to 99%). Through such MCTP, polymers with the in situ generated multisubstituted tetrahydropyrimidines or dihydropyrrolones in the backbone and inherent luminescence can be easily obtained with high atom economy and environmental benefit, which is inaccessible by other synthetic approaches.
