Abstract
Burn and diabetic wounds present significant challenges due to their complex nature, delayed healing, pain, and high susceptibility to bacterial infections. In this study, we developed and evaluated polyurethane (PU) nanofibers embedded with heparin-functionalized silver nanoparticles (hep-AgNPs) using an electrospinning technique. The choice to functionalize silver nanoparticles with heparin was based on heparin's established role in modulating inflammation and promoting angiogenesis. The electrospun nanofibers exhibited smooth, bead-free morphology with diameters ranging from 300 to 500 nm and demonstrated a sustained release of silver over seven days, offering continuous antimicrobial protection. Mechanical testing of the nanofibers revealed excellent strength and elasticity, making them well-suited for flexible wound dressings. The nanofibers also showed superior water absorption, fluid retention, and controlled water vapor transmission, essential for maintaining a moist wound environment conducive to healing. In vitro biocompatibility assays confirmed that the PU/hep-AgNPs bandages were non-toxic to keratinocytes and fibroblasts and significantly accelerated wound closure, as evidenced by scratch assays. The nanofibrous bandages also exhibited potent antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella Typhimurium, two common wound pathogens. Overall, our findings demonstrate that PU/hep-AgNPs nanofibrous bandages are a promising candidate for chronic wound healing. They combine excellent biocompatibility, anti-inflammatory properties, and strong antimicrobial activity, which collectively contribute to faster wound healing and reduced risk of infection.

Abstract
In this work, new polymers with a shape memory effect for self-healing coatings based on oligomers with terminal epoxy groups, synthesized from oligotetramethylene oxide dioles of various molecular weights, were developed. For this purpose, a simple and efficient method for the synthesis of oligoetherdiamines with a high yield of the product, close to 94%, was developed. Oligodiol was treated with acrylic acid in the presence of a catalyst, followed by the reaction of the reaction product with aminoethylpiperazine. This synthetic route can easily be upscaled. The resulting products can be used as hardeners for oligomers with terminal epoxy groups synthesized from cyclic and cycloaliphatic diisocyanates. The effect of the molecular weight of newly synthesized diamines on the thermal and mechanical properties of urethane-containing polymers has been studied. Elastomers synthesized from isophorone diisocyanate showed excellent shape fixity and shape recovery ratios of >95% and >94%, respectively.

Abstract
The influence of the molecular weight of oligoamine, oligoether, and the type of diisocyanate on the physical and mechanical properties of elastomers with urethane hydroxyl hard segments was studied. For this purpose, oligoetherdiamines with molecular weights ~1008 and ~1400 g mol−1 were synthesized by a three-stage method. Epoxyurethane oligomers were synthesized according to a two-step route with an oligodiisocyanate as an intermediate product. A series of 12 elastomers with controlled crystallinity were synthesized from these elastomers and amines. The deformation and strength properties of the elastomers were studied.

Abstract
Preparation and evaluation of new polyurethane membranes for wound dressing application was considered in this work. The membranes were prepared through amine curing reaction of epoxy-terminated polyurethane prepolymers and an antibacterial epoxy-functional quaternary ammonium compound (glycidyltriehtylammonium chloride, GTEACl. To render the prepared membranes to be highly absorptive of wound exudates, poly (ethylene glycol) polyols were introduced into the polyurethane networks. Evaluation of biocompatibity via both MTT assay and direct contact with two different cell lines (fibroblast and epidermal keratinocytes) reveled that membranes with appropriate loading of GTEACl showed proper biocompatibility. Promising antibacterial activity of the prepared membranes against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria was confirmed by both agar diffusion and shaking flask methods. The membranes with balanced crosslink density and ionic groups' concentration possessed appropriate hydrophilicity and water vapor transmission rate; therefore, they could prevent the accumulation of exudates and decrease the surface inflammation in the wounded area.

Abstract
Finding an ideal biomaterial with the proper mechanical properties and biocompatibility has been of intense focus in the field of soft tissue engineering. This paper reports on the synthesis and characterization of a novel crosslinked urethane-doped polyester elastomer (CUPOMC), which was synthesized by reacting a previously developed photocrosslinkable poly (octamethylene maleate citrate) (POMC) prepolymers (pre-POMC) with 1,6-hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) followed by thermo- or photo-crosslinking polymerization. The mechanical properties of the CUPOMCs can be tuned by controlling the molar ratios of pre-POMC monomers, and the ratio between the prepolymer and HDI. CUPOMCs can be crosslinked into a 3D network through polycondensation or free radical polymerization reactions. The tensile strength and elongation at break of CUPOMC synthesized under the known conditions range from 0.73±0.12MPa to 10.91±0.64MPa and from 72.91±9.09% to 300.41±21.99% respectively. Preliminary biocompatibility tests demonstrated that CUPOMCs support cell adhesion and proliferation. Unlike the pre-polymers of other crosslinked elastomers, CUPOMC pre-polymers possess great processability demonstrated by scaffold fabrication via a thermally induced phase separation method. The dual crosslinking methods for CUPOMC pre-polymers should enhance the versatile processability of the CUPOMC used in various conditions. Development of CUPOMC should expand the choices of available biodegradable elastomers for various biomedical applications such as soft tissue engineering.

Abstract
Polyurethane networks with enhanced thermal stability and electrical insulation properties were prepared from the reaction of epoxy-terminated urethane prepolymers (EPU) and polyimides containing pendant phenol groups (HPI). EPUs were prepared by the reaction of glycidol with NCO-terminated urethane oligomers. The oligomers were prepared from different molecular weight versions of polycaprolactone polyol (CAPA) and hexamethylene diisocyanate. The progress of the reaction was monitored by differential scanning calorimetric analysis in the presence and absence of suitable catalyst. The onset temperature of exothermic reaction of phenolic groups and epoxy rings was chosen as optimum curing temperature and the reaction duration was optimized by gel content measurement. The starting materials and polymers were characterized by conventional spectroscopic methods, and physical, thermal and electrical properties of the crosslinked networks were determined. The novel poly(urethane-imide)s exhibited considerable improvement in thermal and electrical properties in comparison to common polyurethanes.

Abstract
Biodegradable elastomers have a number of potential applications in the biomedical area, especially in the emerging field of soft-tissue engineering where the mechanical properties of the polymer scaffold should match those of the tissue to be grown. An increasing number of synthesis strategies have been employed in order to prepare such elastomers. In this review, these synthesis strategies and the properties of these elastomers are outlined. The factors that influence the characteristics of these elastomers including mechanical properties, degradation rate, and mechanical property change during degradation, are discussed in terms of the design of the elastomer and their advantages and disadvantages for the biomedical applications considered.
