Abstract
The Effectiveness of Guidelines for Dissemination and Education in psychiatric treatment (EGUIDE) project, which is a nationwide dissemination and implementation program for clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) in the field of psychiatry, is currently ongoing. In the current study, a subjective assessment of the participants in the EGUIDE programs was assessed using a questionnaire. Then, the relationships between the subjective assessment, the characteristics of the participants, and the clinical knowledge of the CPGs were evaluated. More than 90% of the participants gave a high rating for the components of content, recommendation, knowledge, skill, and adherence, but not for the component of confidence. A positive correlation was found between years of professional experience and the score of confidence. These results suggest that it may be necessary to apply the knowledge and skills of CPGs obtained in the education programs into practice to increase confidence in the proper use of psychiatric therapies based on CPGs. Through the educational program of clinical practice guidelines (CPGs; major depressive disorder:MDD and schizophrenia: SC) "EGUIDE," we found that participants gave a high rating for the components of content, recommendation, knowledge, skill, and adherence, but not for the component of confidence. Abstract
Psychosocial care is considered an important component of quality cancer care. Individuals treated for cancer can experience biologic or physical, emotional, spiritual, and practical consequences (eg, financial), which have an impact on their quality of living. With the establishment of cancer centers in Africa, there is growing advocacy regarding the need for psychosocial care, given the level of unmet supportive care needs and high emotional distress reported for patients. Nurses are in an ideal position to provide psychosocial care to patients with cancer and their families but must possess relevant knowledge and skills to do so. Across Africa, nurses are challenged in gaining the necessary education for psychosocial cancer care as programs vary in the amount of psychosocial content offered. This perspective article presents competencies regarding psychosocial care for nurses caring for patients with cancer in Africa. The competencies were adapted by expert consensus from existing evidenced-based competencies for oncology nurses. They are offered as a potential basis for educational program planning and curriculum development for cancer nursing in Africa. Recommendations are offered regarding use of these competencies by nursing and cancer program leaders to enhance the quality of care for African patients with cancer and their family members. The strategies emphasize building capacity of nurses to engage in effective delivery of psychosocial care for individuals with cancer and their family members.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Clinically significant distress is common in patients with cancer and if untreated can be associated with adverse outcomes. This article offers a review of current approaches to implementing and reporting the minimum components of distress screening and management interventions in cancer services. RECENT FINDINGS Twenty-two relevant published articles were identified from January 2018 to February 2020. The reporting of recommended minimum components of distress screening and management interventions in these articles was not consistent. The majority of studies used validated tools to conduct initial screening. However, recommendations were either not reported or not followed regarding subsequent pathway components, secondary assessment, referral pathways linked to screening results and rescreening. The majority of studies did not include a description of the implementation of the distress screening program. A small number of studies described a comprehensive set of implementation strategies. SUMMARY Distress screening and management interventions in cancer are an important component of comprehensive cancer care. To improve patient outcomes and guide researchers and services to identify effective models, studies must include and evaluate minimum recommended components and implementation strategies. Addressing these limitations with high-quality, robust interventions is vital for advancing the implementation of effective distress management.

Abstract
The current approach to the management of emotions in patients with cancer is “distress screening and referral for the provision of psychosocial care.” Although this approach may have certain beneficial effects, screening and referral programs have shown a limited effect on patient psychological well-being. We argue that this limited effect is due to a mismatch between patient needs and the provision of care, and that a fundamental reconceptualization of the clinical management of emotions in patients with cancer is needed. We describe the rationale and characteristics of “emotional support and case finding” as the approach to the management of emotions in patients with cancer. The two main principles of the approach are: (1) Emotional support: (a) The treating team, consisting of doctors, nurses, and allied health staff, is responsive to the emotional needs of patients with cancer and provides emotional support. (b) The treating team provides information on external sources of emotional support. (2) Case finding: The treating team identifies patients in need of mental health care by means of case finding, and provides a referral to mental health care as indicated. We present a novel perspective on how to organize the clinical management of emotions in patients with cancer. This is intended to contribute to a fruitful discussion and to inform an innovative research agenda on how to manage emotions in patients with cancer.

Abstract
PURPOSE This work describes perspectives of older adult cancer survivors about improvements that should be considered during the early period of survivorship. Findings will be useful in program development of age-appropriate services following completion of cancer treatment for older adults. METHODS A national survey was conducted across ten Canadian provinces to understand follow-up experiences of cancer survivors one to three years post-treatment. The survey included open-ended questions enabling respondents to offer insight into their experiences. This publication presents analysis of responses from older adults (75+ years) about suggestions for improving survivorship care. RESULTS In total, 3274 older adults (75+ years) responded to the survey and 1424 responded to the question about improvements. Fifty-five percent of the older adults were male, 28% had experienced metastatic disease and 75% reported comorbid conditions. A total of 640 respondents offered 932 suggestions in the areas of service delivery (n = 763, 81.9%), support (n = 108, 11.6%), and practical assistance (n = 61, 6.5%). Improvements in information/communication (n = 291) and follow-up care (n = 180) accounted for the highest number of suggestions regarding service delivery. Thematic analysis revealed three key messages about improvement: 'offer me needed support', 'make access easy for me', and 'show me you care'. CONCLUSION Suggestions for improvement in survivorship care by older adults treated for cancer emphasize need for changes in the approaches taken by health care providers in interactions and organization of care delivery. Proactive provision of information, detailed schedules for follow-up care, and ease of access to post-treatment care are needed.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Antidepressant-induced excessive sweating (ADIES) is a side effect that occurs in approximately 22% of patients taking antidepressant medications and can negatively affect patient medication adherence. LOCAL PROBLEM Primary care providers may not have adequate knowledge of ADIES management. The aims of this project were to increase primary care provider's overall perceived knowledge related to ADIES, improve confidence in the management of ADIES, and gather input on the perceived usefulness of the initial clinical practice guideline (CPG) for ADIES management. METHODS This quality improvement (QI) project consisted of two phases. Phase 1 included the development of a CPG for the pharmacologic management of ADIES based on processes recommended by the Institute of Medicine. INTERVENTIONS Phase 2 of the project consisted of a pretest-posttest design pilot of the guideline via a "Lunch and Learn" educational session at a Federally Qualified Health Care Center located in the Northern California. RESULTS The results indicated that after exposure to the CPG and participation in the educational program about the guideline, there was an overall significant improvement in provider knowledge and confidence about identification and management of ADIES in their practice. CONCLUSIONS Although small in scope, this QI project provides important avenues for further implementation and dissemination of the guideline to manage ADIES. The potential for improved patient care and medication adherence support the usefulness of the implementation of this guideline in other locations.

Abstract
Purpose Personalised information and support can be provided to cancer survivors using a structured approach. Needs assessment tools such as the Holistic Needs Assessment (HNA) in the UK and the Comprehensive Problem and Symptom Screening (COMPASS) questionnaire in Canada are recommended for use in practice; however, they are not widely embedded into practice. The study aimed to determine the extent to which nurses working in cancer care in the UK and Manitoba value NA and identify any barriers and facilitators they experience. Method Oncology nurses involved in the care of cancer patients in the UK (n = 110) and Manitoba (n = 221) were emailed a link to an online survey by lead cancer nurses in the participating institutions. A snowball technique was used to increase participation across the UK resulting in 306 oncology nurses completing the survey in the UK and 116 in Canada. Results Participants expressed concerns that these assessments were becoming bureaucratic “tick-box exercises” which did not meet patients’ needs. Barriers to completion were time, staff shortages, lack of confidence, privacy, and resources. Facilitators were privacy for confidential discussions, training, confidence in knowledge and skills, and referral to resources. Conclusion Many busy oncology nurses completed this survey demonstrating the importance they attach to HNAs and COMPASS. The challenges faced with implementing these assessments into everyday practice require training, time, support services, and an appropriate environment. It is vital that the HNA and COMPASS are conducted at optimum times for patients to fully utilise time and resources.

Abstract
PURPOSE As the demand in cancer care continues to increase, health systems require a workforce of highly educated specialists and generalists to provide continuity of care across settings. OBJECTIVES Led by de Souza Institute in Canada, an interdisciplinary working group was formed to develop a competency framework with relevance across regulated health professionals involved in cancer care. METHODS The working group was presented with results from a scoping review of national and international guidelines, standards, and competencies in oncology, as well as data from needs assessments on continuing education opportunities and oncology topics most relevant to clinicians. Fifty-one professionals from, e.g., family medicine, pharmacy, social work, psychology, occupational therapy, and nursing participated in seven focus groups. An additional 32 nurses participated in a nursing-specific needs assessment survey. Using modified Delphi technique, working group members conducted three iterative rounds to review data and built consensus on competency items in relation to three levels of expertise, from early learner/novice practitioner, advancing practitioner, to expert practitioner. RESULTS A final consensus was reached for the selection of competencies that reflect optimal cancer care mapped into three levels of expertise, as well as knowledge, skills, and attitudes expected of each level. Examples for the competency for early learner/novice practitioner include the following: Have awareness of common ethical issues in cancer care (knowledge); demonstrate ability to discuss, educate, and counsel patients and their support persons(s) regarding preferences (skills); and appreciate the impact of culture, the sensitivity, and diversity of attitudes in relation to cancer (attitude). Expert practitioner examples include: recognition of need for, and ability to advocate for challenges involving equity and access in order to improve health outcomes (skill) and awareness of workplace complexities, such as provider roles, team functioning, and organizational environments affecting patient-practitioner relationships (attitude). CONCLUSION The de Souza Interprofessional practice cancer competency framework provides a set of shared competencies and a novice to expert pathway for clinicians across disciplines and supports a more standardized learning and comprehensive approach in organizing professional development towards a coordinated, high quality, and person-centered care.
