Abstract
The QuEChERS method was adjusted to determine bifenthrin residues in grapes and grape leaves. Extraction and cleanup procedures were optimized to decrease co-extracted materials and enhance the detection of bifenthrin. The method was validated per the European Union (EU) Guidelines criteria. Accuracy ranged from 98.8% to 93.5% for grapes and grape leaves, respectively. Precision values were 5.5 and 6.4 (RSDr) and 7.4 and 6.7 (RSDR) for grapes and grape leaves, respectively. LOQs (the lowest spiking level) were 2 and 20 µg/kg for grapes and grape leaves, respectively. Linearity as determination coefficient (R2) values were 0.9997 and 0.9964 for grapes and grape leaves, respectively, in a matrix over 1-100 µg/L range of analyte concentration. This was very close to the value in the pure solvent (0.9999), showing the efficiency of the cleanup in removing the co-extracted and co-injected materials; the matrix effect was close to zero in both sample matrices. Dissipation of bifenthrin was studied in a supervised trial conducted in a grapevine field during the summer of 2023 at the recommended dose and double the dose. Dissipation factor k values were 0.1549 and 0.1672 (recommended dose) and 0.235 and 0.208 (double dose) for grapes and grape leaves, respectively. Pre-harvest interval (PHI) was calculated for the Maximum Residue Limit (MRL) values of the EU database. Residues of bifenthrin were removed effectively from grapes using simple washing with tap water in a laboratory study. Residues reached the MRL level of 0.3 mg/kg in both washing treatments, running or soaking in tap water treatments for 5 min. Removal from leaves did not decrease residue levels to the MRL in grape leaves.

Abstract
Nowadays, the development of sustainable molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) with high selectivity is still challenging due to the limitations of bio-based functional monomers. In this study, the highly selective and porous MIPs (LC-TMIPs) were designed and prepared on short amylose (SAM) as bio-based functional monomers, λ-cyhalothrin (LC) as a template molecule, and tetrafluoroterephthalonitrile as a rigid crosslinking agent. Static, dynamic, and selective adsorption experiments were conducted to investigate the adsorption performance. The results indicated that, compared to MIPs prepared using epichlorohydrin as flexible crosslinking agents, LC-TMIPs exhibited higher imprinting factor (3.93), selectivity (5.78), and adsorption capacity (35.79 mg g-1), as well as faster adsorption/desorption kinetics. The LC-TMIPs were used as sorbents for the selective determination of LC in both apple and cucumber samples by high-performance liquid chromatography. Under the optimal extraction conditions, the recoveries of the method reached 92.1-106.1 %, with a linear range of 1.5-30 ng g-1 and a detection limit of 0.5 ng g-1. The proposed preparation method of LC-TMIPs is expected to open a new way to prepare highly selective and sustainable MIPs for hydrophobic compounds.

Abstract
Tetramethrin is a widely applied type I chiral pyrethroid insecticide that exists as a mixture of four isomers. In the present study, its stereoselective cytotoxicity, bioaccumulation, degradation, and metabolism were investigated for the first time at the enantiomeric level in detail by using a sensitive chiral high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectroscopy (HPLC-MS/MS) method. Results showed that among rac-tetramethrin and its four enantiomers, the trans (+)-1R,3R-tetramethrin had the strongest inhibition effect on the PC12 cells. In the earthworm exposure trial, the concentration of trans (-)-1S,3S-tetramethrin was 0.94-8.92 times in earthworms (cultivated in natural soil) and 1.67-5.01 times (cultivated in artificial soil) higher than trans (+)-1R,3R-tetramethrin, respectively. In the greenhouse experiment, the trans (+)-1R,3R-tetramethrin and cis (+)-1R,3S-tetramethrin were preferentially degraded. Furthermore, for rat liver microsome in vitro incubation, the maximum metabolism rate of cis (-)-1S,3R-tetramethrin was 1.50 times higher than its antipodes. Altogether, the aim of this study was to provide a scientific and reasonable reference for the possibility of developing a single enantiomer to replace the application of rac-tetramethrin, which could possess better bioactivity and lower ecotoxicity, and thus permit more reliable and accurate environmental monitoring and risk assessment.

Abstract
The widespread use of pesticides is beneficial for food production; however, there are numerous adverse consequences reported in the ecosystem and humans associated with exposure to these contaminants. The pyrethriod bifenthrin (BIF) is utilized for (1) maintenance, growth, and storage of agricultural products; (2) control of internal and external parasites of farm animals; and (3) eradication of insects threatening public health. Numerous data are available regarding environmental and ecological impact of pyrethriods on the central and peripheral nervous systems; however few studies focused on non-target tissues especially in humans. Therefore, the aim of this investigation was to determine the potential cytotoxic effects of BIF on a non-target tissue using human colorectal HCT-116 cells as a model. Data demonstrated that BIF reduced cell viability and disrupted mitochondrial functions which were accompanied by increased reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels indicating the presence of oxidative stress. BIF produced a significant elevation in levels of malondialdehyde (MDA) supporting the role of oxidative stress in pesticide-mediated toxicity. Concomitantly, a fall of mitochondrial transmembrane potential (Δψ), consequently producing perturbation of fluidity as well as excitability of cellular membranes was noted. Our results also indicated that BIF induced a rise in DNA damage as evidenced by the comet assay. An increase in mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), JNK (N-terminal Kinase), p38, and ERK (extracellular-signal-regulated kinase) suggested an apoptotic effect. Data thus indicated that BIF-induced cytotoxicity in human colorectal HCT-116 cells was associated with oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, and apoptosis.

Abstract
This manuscript presents an effective and robust method for simultaneous stereoselective determination of two pyrethroid insecticides, tetramethrin and α-cypermethrin in different food products by high-performance liquid chromatography. Enantioseparation was carried out using reversed-phase chromatography, and the influences of four polysaccharide-based chiral columns, mobile phase composition, and column temperature on retention were fully investigated. Satisfactory separation was obtained on Chiralpak IG column using acetonitrile-water (75:25, v/v) under isocratic conditions. To extract and purify the target analytes from food matrices, matrix solid-phase dispersion was employed with C18 as dispersant and primary secondary amine as well as graphitized carbon black as cleanup sorbents. Response surface method based on Box-Behnken design was implemented to assist optimization of the extraction variables. Then, method validation was done in real samples including specificity, linearity, sensitivity, trueness, precision, as well as stability, and its analytical performance fulfills the criteria recommended by the European Union SANTE/11945/2015, demonstrating its applicability in studying the stereochemistry of chiral tetramethrin and α-cypermethrin in food products.

Abstract
A method was developed for the analysis of 22 antiparasitic residues belonging to the benzoylurea, organophosphate, pyrimidinamine, pyrethrin and pyrethroid classes in salmon by liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. Samples were extracted with acetonitrile-water as the extraction solvent with use of a vibrational shaking apparatus with a ceramic homogenizer. After extraction, the acetonitrile extracts were cleaned up by incubation at low temperature (-20 °C, 1 h) to remove fat, followed by dispersive solid-phase extraction using Z-Sep+ and primary-secondary amine as sorbents. Validation was performed following the 2002/657/EC and SANTE/11813/2017 guidelines. The trueness of the method ranged from 87% to 121% and precision ranged from 4.1% to 23.7%, with the exception of cyphenothrin, dicyclanil and azamethiphos. The method developed is particularly advantageous because the use of a vibrational shaker allows unattended extraction of samples and eliminates a laborious tissue disruption step, which increases sample throughput in the laboratory. The sample preparation and chromatographic separations can be performed in 5 and 4 h, respectively, for 36 samples. Graphical abstract.

Abstract
A sensitive monoclonal antibody-based enzyme monoclonal antibody-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was developed to detect bifenthrin in a chemical soil barrier for termite control. LBc ((2-methyl[1,1-biphenyl]-3-methoxy) carbonyl propionic acid) was conjugated to bovine serum albumin (BSA) for producing monoclonal antibody. After optimization, the IC50 and limit of detection (LOD, IC10) were 0.05 mg L(-1) and 0.004 mg L(-1), respectively. The sensitivity was improved 40-fold compared to polyclonal antibody-based ELISA reported earlier. No cross-reactivity was measured for the other analogues such as cyhalothrin, cyhalothric acid, cypermethrin, deltamethrin, fenpropathrin, fenvalerate, ethofenprox and tetramethrin except 2-methyl-3-biphenylmethyanol. Spiked recoveries were between 83.5% and 104.7% for the detection of bifenthrin in loess, red soil and black soil. All the relative standard deviations (RSDs) were less than or equal to 15.0%. Moreover, the ELISA for authentic samples showed reliability and high correlation with gas chromatography. The developed ELISA is an alternative tool for simple, sensitive and accurate monitoring of bifenthrin in chemical soil barriers.

Abstract
A liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) method was developed for the simultaneous analysis of 6 ectoparasiticides - 2 synthetic pyrethroids (deltamethrin, cypermethrin) and 4 macrocyclic lactones (abamectin, doramectin, ivermectin and eprinomectin) in biosolids. The method was used to investigate the occurrence of these ectoparasiticides in beef cattle feedlot wastes in Australia from 5 commercial feedlot operations which employ varying waste management practices. Deltamethrin and cypermethrin were not detected in any of the samples while abamectin, ivermectin, doramectin and eprinomectin were detected in some of the samples with concentrations ranging from 1 to 36 μg/kg dry weight (d.w.) freeze dried feedlot waste. Levels of macrocyclic lactones detected in the feedlot wastes varied and were dependent on sample type. The effect of seasonal variations and waste management practices were also investigated in this study.

Abstract
During recent years, a rising interest from consumers and various governmental organizations towards the quality of food has continuously been observed. Human intervention across the different stages of the food supply chain can lead to the presence of several types of chemical contaminants in food-based products. On a normal daily consumption basis, some of these chemicals are not harmful; however, for those that present a risk to consumers, legislation rules were established to specify tolerance levels or in some cases the total forbiddance of these specific contaminants. Hence, the use of appropriate analytical tools is recommended to properly identify chemical contaminants. In that context, mass spectrometry (MS)-based techniques coupled or not to chromatography offer a vast panel of features such as sensitivity, selectivity, quantification at trace levels, and/or structural elucidation. Because of the complexity of food-based matrices, sample preparation is a crucial step before final detection. In the present manuscript, we review the contribution and the potentialities of MS-based techniques to ensure the absence of chemical contaminants in food-based products.

Abstract
This study was conducted to evaluate the presence of cyhialothrin, cyfluthrin, cypermethrin, fenvalerate, and deltamethrin in vegetables produced and consumed in Sonora, Mexico. A total of 345 samples were collected from cluster sampling of markets and fields. Approximately 9% of the samples tested positive for pyrethroids (residue range 0.004-0.573 mg kg(-1)). Based on the results, the potential toxicological risk of human exposure to the pyrethroid insecticides measured in vegetables appears to be minimal, with the estimated exposure being 1,000 times lower than admissible levels.

Abstract
Auxin is an important phylohormone, which regulates specific physiological responses such as division, elongation and differentiation of cells. A new method using liquid chromatography/electrospray ionization ion trap mass spectrometry (LC/ESI-ITMS) has been developed for identification and quantitation of four auxins. Under the optimum conditions, four auxins (indole-3-acetic acid, indole-3-propionic acid, indole-3-butyric acid and 1-naphthylacetic acid) were completely separated and quantitated within 7 min with a minimum detection limit of 8.0 ng mL(-1) with relative standard deviations lower than 5.0%. This method also has been applied to analysis of auxins in Chinese cabbage where, even with a complicated serious background perturbation due to the natural biological matrix, the mean recoveries ranged from 77.5% to 99.8%. Finally, we discuss the MS-relevant properties of the identified auxins in detail.
