Ni‐Pd Nanoparticles Embedded in N‐Doped Hierarchical Porous Carbon Derived from Luffa Sponge: Preparation, Characterization and Its Catalytic Activity

Pd-Coordinated Salinidol-Modified Mixed MOF: An Excellent Active Center for Efficient Nitroarenes Reduction and Selective Oxidation of Alcohols

Selective oxidation of active and inactive alcohol substrates and reduction of nitroarenes is a highly versatile conversion that remains a challenge in controlling functionality and adjustments in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). On the other hand, it offers an attractive opportunity to expand their applications in designing the next generation of catalysts with improved performance. Herein, a novel mixed MOF consisting of supported 2-hydroxybenzamide (mixed MOF-salinidol) has been fabricated by post-synthetic modifications of mixed MOF. Subsequently, the prepared nanocomposites were modified to impart catalytic sites using palladium chloride ions mixed with MOF-salinidol/Pd (II). After successfully designing and structurally characterizing nanocomposites, we evaluated their activity in oxidizing primary and secondary alcohols using aerobic conditions with molecular oxygen and an air atmosphere. In addition, the stability of (mixed MOF-salinidol/Pd (II)) catalysts under catalytic conditions was also demonstrated by comparing the Fourier-transform infrared spectrum, scanning electron microscopy image, and ICP-OES method before and after catalysis. Based on the results, the active surface area of the synthesized nanocatalyst is large, which highlights its unique synergistic effect between post-synthetic modified MOF and Pd, and furthermore, the availability of catalytic sites from Pd, as demonstrated by outstanding catalytic activity.

Leveraging Hydrophilic Hierarchical Channels to Regulate Excessive Water for High-Efficiency Solar Steam Yield

Both the solar absorptance and water content in solar-driven interface evaporation (SDIE) devices are of equal importance for efficient solar steam yield and freshwater production, but water content regulation has garnered relatively less attention, as it is more challenging to balance the water supply rate and the evaporation rate inside SDIE devices. Herein, an SDIE device is designed by coating natural luffa with polypyrrole, which could effectively regulate the water content during the solar steam yield by its unique hydrophilic hierarchical channels to transform excessive water from the bulk state into the film state on the porous skeleton. The hierarchical channels revealed by cryoelectron microscopy experiments not only reduce the loss of heat in unevaporated water but also offer abundant escape channels for solar steam, thus enabling the proposed SDIE device to achieve an evaporation rate of 2.38 kg m^-2 h^-1 under 1 sun illumination. This work reveals the key role of hierarchical channels for water regulation in the high-efficiency solar steam yield and triggers further application of natural biomaterials with unique structures in the field of solar interfacial evaporation.

Recent Progress of Metal Nanoparticle Catalysts for C–C Bond Forming Reactions

Over the past few decades, the use of transition metal nanoparticles (NPs) in catalysis has attracted much attention and their use in C–C bond forming reactions constitutes one of their most important applications. A huge variety of metal NPs, which have showed high catalytic activity for C–C bond forming reactions, have been developed up to now. Many kinds of stabilizers, such as inorganic materials, magnetically recoverable materials, porous materials, organic–inorganic composites, carbon materials, polymers, and surfactants have been utilized to develop metal NPs catalysts. This review classified and outlined the categories of metal NPs by the type of support.

Recent Advances on Heteroatom-Doped Porous Carbon/Metal Materials: Fascinating Heterogeneous Catalysts for Organic Transformations

Design and preparation of low-cost, effective, and novel catalysts are important topics in the field of heterogeneous catalysis from academic and industrial perspectives. Recently, heteroatom-doped porous carbon/metal materials have received significant attention as promising catalysts in divergent organic reactions. Incorporation of heteroatom into the carbon framework can tailor the properties of carbon, providing suitable interaction between support and metal, resulting in superior catalytic performance compared with those of traditional pure carbon/metal catalytic systems. In this review, we try to underscore the recent advances in the design, preparation, and application of heteroatom-doped porous carbon/metal catalysts towards various organic transformations.

Recent advances in the development of palladium nanocatalysts for sustainable organic transformations

In this review, we highlighted Pd nanocatalysts which have been used in the development of sustainable organic transformations including transfer hydrogenation, C–H bond activation, and some carbon–carbon couplings in the last five years.
